CAPELLA KNEW THEY WERE COMING.

Months passed, and Capella immersed herself in meticulous planning for the future. She and Regulus often talked late into the night, sharing dreams and aspirations, painting vivid pictures of the life they longed to build—a life free from the oppressive shadows of their pasts. Capella knew that to truly be free, she had to secure her inheritance, which meant dealing with her brother, Callum.

A plan began to take shape in her mind, dangerous yet necessary to ensure her freedom. She confided in Regulus, who supported her unwaveringly despite the risks. Together, they navigated the treacherous waters of their family's dark legacy, preparing for the moment when they would seize their destiny.

One of those wretched housekeepers at the inn must have been listening to their plan. How else could they have known? Regulus was bound to be home in a couple of minutes. He had been scoping out Lestrange Manor for days, trying to understand the routines of the new Lord Lestrange. The board detailing their plan was intricate, each step meticulously thought out, each move calculated to perfection.

three months before

One evening, as they sat by the flickering fireplace, Capella outlined her strategy. "Callum needs to be dealt with before his son is born," she said, her voice steady and resolute. "If something happens to him, the inheritance will come to me. I can use that money to ensure our future."

Regulus nodded, understanding the gravity of her words. "I will help you in any way I can," he promised, his voice a soothing balm to her frazzled nerves. "We'll get through this together."

The following weeks were a blur of meticulous planning and covert meetings. Capella and Regulus moved carefully, ensuring that no one suspected their intentions. They gathered allies and resources, preparing for the moment when they would put their plan into action.

The day of reckoning approached, shrouded in an almost palpable tension. Capella felt a mixture of fear and resolve, each emotion warring within her as the day grew nearer. She was determined to break free from the chains of her family's expectations and carve out a life of her own. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but with Regulus by her side, she felt invincible.

Regulus returned home, dressed in his all-black suit, a very sexy pocket watch hanging from his belt. "Ella, we don't have time. Come on, we can do it when we get back," Regulus urged, though his eyes betrayed a longing to return to the warmth of their bed.

Capella rolled her eyes and put on her big trench coat, slipping a dagger into the secret pocket. Just in case.

The night of the confrontation arrived, cloaked in a thick, ominous darkness. Capella and Regulus made their way to Lestrange Hall, their footsteps silent on the gravel path. They slipped inside, moving through the grand, dimly lit corridors with the stealth of seasoned thieves. Capella's heart pounded in her chest as they approached Callum's study.

They found him alone, poring over a stack of papers. He looked up, startled, as they entered the room. "Capella? Regulus? What is the meaning of this?" he demanded, rising to his feet.

Capella stepped forward, her wand clenched tightly in her hand. "I'm sorry, Callum," she said, her voice trembling but determined. "But this is the only way."

Callum's eyes widened in realization. "You're after the inheritance," he said, a bitter laugh escaping his lips. "I should have known."

Before he could react, Capella cast a stunning spell, rendering him unconscious. She felt a pang of guilt but steeled herself, knowing it was necessary. Regulus moved swiftly, ensuring Callum was securely bound and unable to interfere with their plans.

"We need to act quickly," Capella said, her voice firm. "We have to make it look like an accident."

Together, they staged the scene, creating the appearance of a tragic mishap. Capella's heart ached as she looked at her brother, but she pushed the emotions aside. This was for her future, for the life she and Regulus dreamed of.

With the deed done, Capella and Regulus left Lestrange Hall, the weight of their actions heavy on their shoulders. They returned to their flat in Diagon Alley, the reality of what they had done settling in. Capella knew there would be consequences, but she was prepared to face them.

In the days that followed, news of Callum's accident spread. Capella inherited the Lestrange fortune, securing the financial stability she needed to break free from her family's oppressive legacy. She and Regulus used the money to buy a small cottage in the countryside, a place where they could start anew. Well, technically she hadn't officially been named Lady Lestrange, because the Ministry was dealing with so much paperwork.

One day, Capella received a letter, its seal bearing the mark of the Ministry. She broke it open with trembling hands and read:

Addressed to the Lady Lestrange:
Lord Lestrange, Callum Lestrange, passed away from heart failure on 16 December 1979. Due to your sister's disownment, and your mother being missing, you are now the Right Honourable Lady Lestrange.
Sincerely, Magnus Pipe

As they settled into their new home, Capella felt a sense of peace she had never known before. The air was fresh, the landscape serene, a stark contrast to the dark, foreboding halls of Lestrange Hall. Here, she could build the life she had always dreamed of, free from the constraints of her past.

One afternoon, as she and Regulus sat on the porch, watching the sun set over the rolling hills, Capella felt a swell of hope. She took Regulus's hand, smiling at him. "We did it," she said softly. "We're free."

Regulus squeezed her hand, his eyes filled with love and pride. "Yes, we are," he replied. "And this is just the beginning."

Capella looked out at the horizon, the future stretching out before her like an open road. She knew there would be challenges ahead, but with Regulus by her side, she felt ready to face them. She had chosen her path, and she would walk it with courage and determination.

As the stars began to twinkle in the evening sky, Capella whispered a silent promise to herself. She would honor the memory of her sister's bravery, and she would live her life to the fullest, free from the shadows of her past. For the first time, she felt truly alive, ready to embrace the future with open arms.
