twenty-three
Holding the dress back up my mouth fell open. This dress was beautiful but the meaning behind it was making me want to tear it to pieces.
"We're going and we'll unmasked this son of a bitch!" Pinky shouted smiling.
"We aren't the mystery gang Daphne." Hoseok snapped.
"Hey, she was purple, I'm pink." Pinky spoke.
"I thought you didn't like that name anymore?" Yoongi commented. Pinky choked for a second swinging her whole body towards Yoongi.
"I don't! But still doesn't mean I don't like the color." Pinky snapped back making Yoongi laugh a little. Seeing Yoongi laugh was a little strange but not as much as the actually killer inviting us all to a freaking ball.
"I looked it up. The Mobsi Usglida ball is happening this Friday. It starts at seven and to get in coast twenty dollars." Principle Jin spoke reading from his phone.
"He's making us pay to see him?" Pinky sighed sitting down on my couch.
"You really aren't plan on going, right?" Jimin asked walking towards me. He stanched the dress from my hands.
"Yes I do. If he wants to dance with me then I'm going. Jimin I know you may hate me after this and after what happen to Doyeon, I can understand. But I'm not letting no one else die. I have almost a hundred people's blood on my hands. Yeah I didn't take their life. But a child, a daughter, a mother, a son, a father, so many people where killed because of me, because of where I cam from. He's doing this because of where me, Pinky, and Jungkook came from." I spoke taking the dress back from him.
"Then I'm coming as well." He snapped back.
"I thought you might." I said.
"We're all going." Hoseok spoke. Later that day after Pinky, Yoongi, and Jimin left me and Hoseok behind. We laid together on the couch, I was so busy lost in my thoughts and with Hoseok flipping throught channels I didn't hear the fact it was raining outside. My eyes traveled to the pouring rain hitting the window.
"I think I'm going to go get something to eat." I told Hoseok as I got up from the couch. I headed towards the kitchen when my phone went off. I picked it up to see one new message from Pinky.
Pinky-
I got my dress and mask. Of course he picked out pink. Maybe it's not my favorite color anymore. Are you really okay with going?
I opened the fridge pulling out a bottle of water before I replied back.
Jiwoo-
Yes. I'm just going to tell Daesuk to watch over us to catch the guy.
Pinky-
Who's Daesuk?
Jiwoo-
He's the man who helped me at the police station, he's also the one who looked more into Jungkook for me. I already owe him to much, but maybe he'll do this one last thing for me.
Pinky-
Hopefully. I'm more willing to go if I know it's loaded with police officers. Okay. I'll talk to you later, my mom is calling me for dinner.
I sat my phone back down looking through the fridge for food. My stomach was growling as I saw the empty fridge.
"Hoseok you want to order pizza or something?" I called out.
"Sure!" Hoseok called back. A second later he was skipping into the kitchen with a smile on his face. I smiled back grabbing my phone. I order two large pizzas and once I hung up my doorbell went off.
"It's thirty mintues or less, not thirty seconds." Hoseok spoke as I took one step closer to my door. I was hesitanted at first to open the door but after the second ring my heart was telling me to open the door. I jerked it open for a huge smile to come across my face. At my front door was Jungkook with the same box I had. I couldn't help but reach up and pull him into a hug. He didn't hug me back at first but then he softly patted my back.
"I guess he got his gift as well." Hoseok commented as I pulled back from Jungkook.
"I thought you got one as well. The letter said you and Pinky." Jungkook mumbled. I invited him in where I showed him my dress.
"So this is your dress." Jungkook held up my dress staring at it.
"It's really pretty at least." Hoseok laughed trying to lighten up the mood. Sadly it wasn't working out to well.
"It's black, no surprise." Jungkook mumbled sitting the dress back down in the box. I opened his box for me to jump back in fear.
"What the hell is that?!" I shouted pointing at the box. Jungkook pulled out his mask for Hoseok to scream out.
"Calm down both of you. It's Choegwari. It's a mask from the Koryeo period and it's the balls main mask to wear. The ball will be loaded in these mask as well modern mask like yours. You'll see a lot of people with this red mask." Jungkook informed pulling out the mask. He placed it across his face and in a second I couldn't even tell who was behind the mask, unlike my small eye frame mask.
I've heard of the Choegwari mask from school, but I never thought there would be a whole ball filled with the man.
"You don't think this is creepy? To have to wear this mask?" I asked Jungkook.
"I'm not going, and neither should you. I was held as a the black rose killer and almost spent the rest of my life in prison." Jungkook snapped throwing me off a bit.
"Well I am going! If you really want this guy to go down then you'll help me as well to catch him. Daesuk is a detective I trust and I'm going to ask him to help us at the ball. Finally we'll be able to catch, and throw this son of a bitch in prison." I snapped back.
"Jiwoo, you are over your head. This isn't some kind of drama where you'll catch the bad guy so easy. This is real life. One mistake and your life is gone, and I'm not about to lose my best friend and first lov-" Jungkook cut him self off looking the other way. Wait...was he about to say love? I think I heard clearly. Right?
"Did-" Now I was the one cut off by another doorbell ring. I looked up to the clock to see it was time for the pizza. I pulled open the door to see a young guy with a red and black uniform on. He flashed me a smile as I handed him the money and he gave me the pizza. Before I could close the door he caught my arm making both Hoseok and Jungkook take a step closer towards us.
"Um, this man gave me this to give to you." The pizza boy handed me a black envelope. My smile faded once I knew what the envelope was for. I slammed my door closed locking it before I ran to the kitchen. I threw the pizza box down ripping open the envelope.
"Maybe we should call the police first?" Jungkook question. Instead I opened the envelope to see nothing but pictures falling. My eyes started watering as I saw people's mutilated bodies. But what really caught my eye was Jungkook was in all of them. He was the one killing them.
"Y-you're the black rose killer?" I question looking up at Jungkook. The look in his eyes told me I wasn't wrong. But how, why?
"It's not what you think. I'm not and yet I am." Jungkook spoke. I took one step back looking beside me. I saw my mother's old vase and grabbed it. "Jiwoo-" I slammed the vase against Jungkook's head watching him fall to the ground completely blacking out.
"YOU SON OF A BITCH!" Tears fell down my face as I fell to the ground crawling into a not. Hoseok started panicking as he walked around the house not knowing what to do.
"So he was the killer?" Hoseok spoke. My heart felt like it was cracking into a million pieces and my chest was burning like it was on fire. My breathing started getting heavy as I saw Jungkook's passed out body beside me.
"You were my best friend. You were my first love. Why? Why did you kill all those people? Why did you kill Doyeon? WHY!" I started screaming as I reached over hitting his body. A few hits later and Hoseok was jerking me away from him.
He pulled me into the living room. I sat down on the couch as Hoseok grabbed his phone. He dialed someone's number before asking them to come over. Like Hoseok I don't think calling the police would be good, since I personally want to kill Jungkook myself. He said he would rotten in prison, but now it looks like I'll be the one.
"Lena, Yoongi, and Jimin are coming over." Hoseok spoke before running back to the kitchen. He came back a few seconds later with two pictures in his hand.
"Who's this?" Hoseok asked holding up one of the pitcures. I wiped my watery eyes taking the picture from his hands.
"It's Lien...but he's.." I was now extremely confused.
"I thought you said he was dead?" Hoseok asked.
"He's supposed to be. But in this photo he's at the Smith Café which is right down the street." I mumbled. The picture looks like he was in his mid teens. Which isn't the right time he was supposed to be dead.
"So that means Lien is alive?" Hoseok asked sitting beside me. My brain was starting to hurt as I kept looking at the picture.
"I don't know. But this is definitely Lien. I use to live with him, I know what he looks like. But then...who was the dead kid they found in the abandoned building years ago?" I asked myself.
What is going on?
