Chapter FiftySix- Dusty Handkerchief.
"I don't understand, the what?" I frowned at them all.
"No time to explain, let's go!" James grabbed my arm and guided me towards the hospital wing door. I could feel my confusion inside translate onto my face as I was almost shoved out of the room. Peter glanced at me and laughed quietly at my expression.
"Padfoot, Moony and Prongs-" Peter pointed at the boys individually. I instantly snapped my head over to Remus who denied ever having the nickname of Moony, he was smirking lightly at me and shrugged his shoulders as if to say 'yeah I lied, so what?'.
"-and I'm wormtail!" Peter smiled.
We were marching through the halls (me being dragged and guided) with obvious intention. I was being taken somewhere and in all honestly the boys were behaving in such a way that fear silently found its way to me.
"What do they all mean?" I asked. Peter was just about to explain quite happily when Sirius stopped him.
"Peter, all in good time. We don't want her to have an information overload to distract her do we?" Sirius warmed. Peter shut his mouth at once.
"What? Why, where are we going?" I asked, getting out of breath fast as the boys walked at an impressive speed.
"We're going to Sonny." Remus mumbled, lowering his voice a little as if he heard something in the distance.
"Sonny, why?" I asked. I felt out of it, a spike in adrenaline rushing through my body while wandering around the dark halls with the boys whilst they acted so suspiciously.
"If he's your friend, he's ours." Sirius said with one direct nod towards me.
I suddenly thought about Damien knowing about the fact Sirius is gay. I had only told Sonny and he's the only person I know who could have told him or spread the word. Pettiness made me not want to follow the boys to see him. He wasn't my friend if he betrayed my trust so easily and to someone as vile as Damien Goyle, to say the least.
I halted stubbornly. Peter and James stumbled a little in slow sloppy reaction.
"Don't you want to get him out?" James frowned at me. Again I emitted massive signs of confusion, the whole current affair being extremely odd and unexpected for me to even begin to comprehend what was happening or what was going to happen next.
Remus picked up and gently held my arm, guiding me to walk again.
"He's being detained because of the whole situation that went down between Damien and yourself," Remus said.
"Why is Sonny being the only one detained?" I asked.
"Wasn't just Sonny, so we're Peter and I...I have no idea why but all three of us were excused by someone." He explained. A pang of guilt hit me in the chest knowing that the three of them were being punished because of my reckless, dastardly behaviour.
"James and I temporarily rescued Remus and Peter, we'll lock them back up by morning so no one knows. We thought you'd probably want us to do the same with Sonny?" Sirius asked, though not in a way that suggested I could change their minds. They had all seemed pretty set on the plans they had made. I shrugged pathetically knowing I wasn't going to convince any of them not to go off and be 'heroic'.
We finally reached a small wooden door in the back of a secluded hallway. On either side you stood, you couldn't see very far to the other end due to the lack of lighting.
Suddenly Peter pulled out his wand and mumbled a spell, which James followed up by shoving the door with a force. Sirius and Remus aggressively shushed him.
We all quickly gathered inside of the room before shutting the door firmly behind us.
"How the hell did you guys get- Arty! oh Merlin, are you alright?" Sonny scrambled up from the single bed in the room, throwing the grey covers off of himself.
I shrugged, folded my arms and looked at him disapprovingly. Remus bit his bottom lip to hide a smile at my coldness towards him. The others looked like they were progressively feeling more awkward by the second.
"Well? What did we come here for?" I turned to Sirius, breaking up the awkward tension with more awkward attitude.
"Do you need to go get anything, Sonny? As long as you come back by morning and don't say a thing, we'll leave the door open for you." Sirius told Sonny.
"We also need the Slytherin password!" Peter quickly spat out. James nodded approvingly at him as if he had forgotten but meant to say the same thing.
Sonny hesitated, narrowing his eyes a little at Peter.
"I'll give you the Slytherin password if you guys break me into Hufflepuffs dorms?" Sonny bargained.
"What you trying to get in there for?" Peter asked Sonny curiously.
"Gonna go see Elliot." He shrugged casually.
"Elliot?" We all said at the same time, except Remus.
"Elliot Midwinter. 7th year, prefect...and Sonny's best mate." Remus recited. That's when I remembered Sonny mentioning he had a Hufflepuff best friend the first day I met him by the black lake. I did find it weird that he never mentioned his name or brought him up in conversation but I knew Sonny as quite a private person and perhaps he had just presumed I knew because I never asked.
"You know too much." Sonny said pointing at Remus. To my surprise they shared an amused smile, as if they were friends.
"A Slytherin that's best friends with a Hufflepuff?" Peter wondered out loud. Sonny glared in his direction rather threateningly.
"You judge and you don't get the Slytherin password, buddy." Sonny rolled his eyes and passed us all to leave the room.
"I'd watch that one, there's something weird about him." Sonny mumbled to me before leaving us all in the room alone.
"You guys coming then?" We heard him say as he walked further away.
I glanced at Peter who scrunched his face up at Sonny's coldness towards him. Why would anyone be suspicious about Peter? He's small and quiet, never giving off any signs of weirdness.
"I'm not weird." Peter huffed walking past me.

"-now if I...ah there we are!" Sirius popped the Hufflepuff door open. I stood amazed and a little concerned all at once.
"Could you tell that wasn't his first time?" Remus whisper laughed in my ear.
"I'm not even going to ask where you learnt how to do that." I said to Sirius. He smirked and held his arms out to the sides of him.
"Was your sister actually, so blame Andy for the shady talent." He laughed. I smiled at his comment, this being the first time he mentioned or verbally remembered family in a positive tone. The thought of Andromeda teaching young Sirius how to break into rooms quite amusing to me, and totally believable.
"Right, I'm only telling one of you the Slytherin password." Sonny sighed and beckoned Remus over. Each of the other boys seemed offended that they weren't the one chosen. Sonny whispered in Remus' ear. Remus nodded as if he was registering the information in his head.
"I still think you know too much, but you're the only one I reckon wouldn't wander into the Slytherin common room for the hell of it or to see someone. Keep it a secret." Sonny laughed and slipped out of sight behind the Hufflepuff door.
"The cheeky bastard! If anyone should have had the password it should had been me!" James said bewildered at the obvious shock of rejection.
"You can't keep your fucking mouth shut, he was smart not to trust you." Sirius laughed at James' expense.
Remus silenced us at once.
"Filch." He whispered. My eyes widened with fear, we were about to be caught! How did Remus hear him coming? I didn't hear a thing!
All of a sudden I heard the scuffing footsteps of Filch, the schools squib caretaker. He was around thirty and balding around the crown of his head, a permanent scowl on his face. Greatly intimidating and almost resembled a young (but tall) house elf.
"What are we gonna do?" I mouthed wide eyed to the boy. There was no where to hide or run to, this hall being only one way and the footsteps beginning to sound closer.
None of them seemed panicked.
Suddenly James pulled out a dusty looking handkerchief from his back pocket and started to quietly unravelling it to reveal an even dustier looking, burgundy blanket.
The boys gathered closely around him, Sirius took my arm and pulled me into the huddle. That's when James threw the blanket on top of us...and I saw Argus Filch appear from around the corner. I gasped, he's seen us!
Quickly a warm hand was placed over my mouth from behind me, and I then felt a tall body press up against my own.
"Be quiet, He can't see us." Remus whispered extremely quietly, his lips pressed against my ear and rested against it. His hand still keeping his hand across my mouth, his steady heart rate being felt pressed against my back and his breath sounding quietly tickling my ear.
I closed my eyes at the feeling of him so close to me, his hands resting on my skin. Focused on the sound of his breath and the feel of his heartbeat other than being caught.
I dropped my wand through calm fingers.
Tap-tap-Tap it sounded as it hit against the stone floor.
"I know you're there, I can here you." Filch laughed just as he was about to leave, rotated on the balls of his feet and started marching in our direction.
"Run." Sirius mumbled.
We all started sprinting towards the Slytherin commonroom. A sound of hysteria from Filch sounded behind us.
A smile beamed on my face as I looked down...Remus ran holding my hand and a smile on his face too.
