In 1971, Charley Pride was the first (and so far last) black artist to win the Country Music Association's most prestigious award, Entertainer of the Year. In 2000, he was the first black inductee at the Country Music Hall of Fame besides harmonica player DeFord Bailey who was the only other honoree during that time.
