CHAPTER SIXTEEN
"If you say a word, I'll chop your fucking balls off."

"Holy shit, my head hurts," I was woken up im the middle of the night by a loud complaint.
I stretched in the metal bed and glanced over at Emrys who was moaning due to the pain. I looked around the wing, noticing everyone was asleep and the guards were standing on the other side of the doors. My eyes had to adjust to the darkness, so I could see the prisoners laying in their beds.
"Brandy, what the fuck happened to me?" he asked, snapping me away from my observations.
"Em, shut the fuck up," I hissed at him, trying to stop someone from hearing us and calling the guards. It sure wasn't earlied than 3 am, so if someone heard us, they wouldn't hesitate to snitch on us. His eyes widened in shock, looking at me with consfusion and hurt.
"Why are you being so mean?" he whispered, giving me the saddest puppy eyes I've ever seen. "I was just asking you..." he trailed off, his eyes glistening with tears.
Although everything he said yesterday was rude and it hurt me because I really thought he was my best friend, I couldn't help but feel bad for him. He has mental health problems which make him act like a pschopath and I don't have those. I don't have an excuse to be rude.
"Hey, I'm sorry," I apologized, scooting myself to him, which was extremely difficult due to hands cuffed in front of me. He was laying on the floor, so when he sat up, we were not even inches apart. "I didn't mean to be rude, you just..." I took a deep breath before I continued. "Your personalities switched," I simply told him, to which he covered his mouth with hands and looked at me apologetically.
"What have I done?" he asked while looking at the spot above my head, although it didn't seem like he was talking to me, but himself. "What did I say to you?" he asked me through his hands, his words muffled and quiet.
"You said nothing, don't worry," I flashed him a reassuring smile, but it didn't seem like he believed me. I didn't lie to him because of pity, but to protect him. He doesn't need to know something he'll beat himself up for. He had no idea what he was doing and I have no reason to hold a grudge against him just because his words were accurate.
"Brandy, I know you're lying," he told me with a frown.
"Em, I said it doesn't matter," I told him, trying to avoid looking at his dark eyes which would magically make me tell the truth. "You weren't yourself and I was completely aware of that."
Well, that's a lie. In the beginning I tried to resist his words, but it became more difficult as further he went. Everything he said was true, it's not his fault he simply had no courage to do it earlier.
"Doctor Jekyll, you were pretty harsh if I must admit," Willie's voice sounded off behind me, Emrys' eyes snapping towards him. He furrowed his eyebrows, cautiously staring at Willie, who was smirking while sitting on his bed with crossed legs, observing our conversation.
"My last name isn't Jekyll- oh, okay, I see what you did there," Emrys told him, silently chuckling to himself.
"You see, you were a dick and honestly, I don't understand what a guy like you is doing with a girl like Brandy."
'We're not dating," I said, which both of them completely ignored.
"What did I say?" Emrys innocently asked him, disregarding series of insults Willie just fired at him.
As soon as Willie opened his mouth to reply with a bitter answer, I stopped him by raising my finger in front of him, pulling my other arm up while doing so. "If you say a word, I'll chop your fucking balls off," I threatened him, glaring at his amused eyes.
"There's no need for the attitude, babe," he told me and I immediately shot him a warning glare. "What?" he laughed.
"I really don't know why do you have to be so nosy, we met like yesterday."
"I was just trying to prove a point, I hate looking at a pretty girl being bullied," Willie replied, flashing me a half smile.
I took a deep breath, collecting my thoughts and before I could open my mouth to verbally destroy him, Emrys meddled in.
"Brandy, can you shut up already?!" he screamed, probably waking everyone in the wing. Couple of annoyed moans sounded off, but as long as there was no guards, we were safe. I looked at Emrys, trying to think of a reason behind his outburst.
"What? I was just trying to-"
"No, do you know what, Brandy? You aren't my mom, you don't get to say what I am and aren't allowed to know!" he told me off, glaring at me then looking at Willie over my shoulder. "Talk."
"Well, you first told her it was her fault some boy named Messiah died."
"Jesus," I corrected him, which he responded to with an eye roll.
"Then that it would be better if she never joined some kind of gang and lastly, you told her she should kill herself," Willie filled him in, looking at him than me.
"I- I am so sorry, Brandy, I had no idea what I was saying! This is all my fault, I am the reason this happened..." Emrys started babbling, his eyes panicking and his chest rapidly rising up and down.
"Em, listen to me," I somehow managed to pull my hands throught the bars, taking his into mine. His attention snapped to me, tears streaming down his cheeks. "This is not your fault, you had no idea what you were saying."
He tightened the grip around my hands, his bottom lip trembling from sadness and eyes captivated with the idea of possibly hurting me.
"Tha-Thank you," he stuttered, giving me a small smile. "I- I'm sorry, Brandy. I really am."
"I believe you, Em. You should get some sleep and maybe-"
"Brandy!" Willie hissed, tossing a hard object at me.
"What?!" I snapped, not separating my eyes from Emrys.
"The guards are coming in," Willie whispered in panic and when I looked towards the doors, he was right. There were indeed two guards in white uniforms walking towards our cells, marching with heads up like they own this place. Their eyes instantly connected with mine, looking down at Emrys' and mine locked hands.
"Whatever they ask, you don't know, okay?" I told him as they slammed our cells open. "What is happening?" I asked them as they picked us up and threw our bodies out of our cells. "Careful, he only got out of surgery!" I warned them, looking at Emrys' leg which started to bleed through the bandage.
"The Doctor who wants to meet the two of you," one of the guards said, ignoring my warning and violently gripping my upper arm. As we passed Willie's cell, we established eye contact, from which I realized just how afraid he was for me.
"Hey, wait! Guards!" Willie suddenly screamed, punching the bars and making so much noise that he probably woke the entire building up. When the guards stopped to listen to what he had to say, he stood quietly, gritting his teeth. "I- You need to take me, too. These two- they are too much trouble," he nervously laughed as the guards stared at him with no emotions whatsoever.
Before he could say anything more, which guards recognized as small talk to prevent them from taking us away, they shot a taser at his thigh, making him shake and fall to the floor unconscious.
The guards walked us through the entire building towards the basement, which was dark and dim. Instead of heading towards the wing for isolation, which I thought they'd take us, they turned to the opposite direction. I furrowed eyebrows and exhanged alarmed looks with Emrys, who realized something was wrong too.
Not giving us any time to object or escape, they opened the big doors at the end of the hall, which had a sign that said "ONLY STAFF ALLOWED", as they violently threw us inside.
We were forced to sit on the chairs while they uncuffed us and tied our hands from behind with a chain. The light in this room was so bright, it took me few minutes to adjust, but when I did, I wished I never saw what was surrounding me.
The guards who escorted us here were standing behind us, ready to prevent us from trying to escape. There was another man in the room, dressed in a white scrub with short, grey hair and big glasses. His wrinkles presented just how long his life has been, but what worried me was the interior. There was a massive bed besides him that had chains attached to it. There were all kinds of mechanics surrounding it, along with a massive, silver device which had few wires attached to it.
"And who do we have here?" the man asked, leaning forwards to level himself with us. "Emrys Chadwick and Brandy Walters, I suppose?" he asked us, although he already knew it very well. There was no chance Blue didn't rant about us by saying the worst of possible things.
Emrys nodded, his face drowning in terror as I stared at the massive device. I connected the dots as soon as I saw the guards turning on the machine. My eyes widened in fear as my heart started rapidly jumping in my chest.
"No, no, no, no," I repeated, manically shaking my head in objection. "Please, don't!" I cried, looking at the man who guards called the Doctor earlier.
"Okay, we'll start with this one, then," he nonchalantly said to the guards, tilting his head towards me. I started screaming and resisting their firm grips as they picked me up in air with no problem and laid me on the bed. Emrys' deafening screams echoed through the air as their chained me up and attached wires to my temples.
"No, please, don't!" I looked at Doctor's eyes, begging him to release me, but he simply glanced at me before his hand reached the machine and sent electric waves through the entire body. I cried out in pain, my limbs falling into spasm as he turned on the intensity. "Please, stop! Stop!"
The Doctor turned the machine off and looked down on me as if I was the grossest being he ever encountered with. "Please, no more," I whispered, my voice cracking by the end of the sentence. But almost as if he didn't have any remorse, his hand reached the machine again, charging it and sending more deadly waves to me, throwing my body into unconsciousness.
