We need to make it or else they will never let us out.

Present day
"Jesus, no!" I screamed, falling to my knees as he bled all over the asphalt. "No, please, don't die!"
"Fuck, Brandy, we can't stop!" Emrys yelled, looking over his shoulder for any sign of police cars.
"No! We can't leave him!" I screamed as hot tears ran down my cheeks, embracing his body. "Jesus, wake up!" I slapped his cheek, but his eyes remained closed as the crimson pool around his body became bigger. "Please! Don't leave me!" I cried out, my tears dripping on his face.
"Brandy, get up now! They can't catch us!" Emrys told me, grabbing my waist and pulling me up.
I looked into his eyes, which were glistening under the setting sun as he pressed his lips together.
"We made a pact - nobody leaves anyone behind, even in life or death situations," I told him, my voice cracking by the end of the sentence. "Emrys," I took his hands into mine, trying to get through him. "We can't leave him! He's your best friend."
He opened his mouth to say something when he stopped and looked over my shoulder. "Watch out!" he screamed and pushed me behind him as I fell on the ground.
"Wha- what?" my eyes widened as red liquid suddenly covered my face and Emrys fell to the ground in front of me. "Emrys!" I screamed, looking at his injury. I ripped the end my shirt, tying it around his thigh.
"Run, Brandy," he whispered as the police sirens became louder. "Run!"
"No, I won't leave you!" I told him, tightening the grip around his hand. "If they take you, they take me, too."
I glanced at Jesus who was laying still with closed eyes, showing no sign of life and then I looked at Emrys who was struggling to breathe, but was very much alive. He needs professional help or else he won't survive.
"Get up," I told him, grabbing his arm and putting it around my neck. "Quickly, we need to hide."
"Brandy, we won't make it," he said, gritting his teeth and struggling to walk because they shot him in the thigh.
"Shut up! Stop saying that, Em," I started walking faster as the police became closer, his body weight making it harder to get away. "We don't have any other choice."
We need to make it or else they will never let us out.

One hour earlier
"If we want to escape public eye, we need to hide somewhere where they won't be looking for us," Atlas thought out loud as we snuck in the shadows, searching for the perfect place. Jesus took my hand into his, intertwining our fingers as he flashed me a reassuring smile.
"I told you I have this guy who can transport us anywhere we want," Gage told Atlas, who shook his head.
"We can't trust anyone right now, not until we are safe," Atlas replied.
"Are you okay, babe?" Jesus asked me, pulling me behind all of them. "You seem upset."
"I'm fine, just a little tired," I flashed him a smile and kissed his cheek, hugging his arm as we walked towards an abandoned house in the distance which I assumed was our hiding spot.
"You know you can always talk to me, right?" he looked into my eyes, making me feel as if a hundred of butterflies have been born in my stomach.
"Those two weeks in isolation were a nightmare, Jesus," I confessed, looking at the ground. "I was alone and I thought I will die in there without you. Did you know I saw your face couple of times and we talked?"
He laughed, resting his arm around my neck. "I'm sorry you had to go through that, babe. If I had the chance, I would trade places with you without thinking twice about it," he told me. "You know, I've wanted to say this to you since the first moment I saw you and I think now is the right time. I lov-"
"Hey, lovebirds, hurry up! We gotta go inside," Emrys turned around to face us while standing in front of the abandoned house.
My attention snapped from Jesus to Emrys and the house, just when I heard the sound that made my heart beat hundred times faster.
Blue and red lights.
Deafening sirens.
"No, no!" I screamed as Atlas, Canny and Gage looked at each other.
"Run as fast as you can," Gage told Emrys, Jesus and me. "Atlas, Canny and I will distract and lead them in the wrong direction."
"No, that is too dangerous, they could shoot you or-"
"Penny, this is the only way. We will separate, so it will be harder for them to find all of us. It's better if they catch just us than everyone," Gage interrupted me, he, Canny and Atlas running towards the cop car.
"We need to move," Jesus told Emrys and I, pulling my hand and running as fast as we could in the opposite direction from where the three of them ran.
We have been running for at least one hour, looking for a perfect place to hide, although my thoughts were focused mainly on Atlas, Gage and Kingston. What if they don't make it? What if someone gets shot and I never see them again?
"Babe, you are shaking," Jesus noticed, taking off his leather jacket and wrapping it around my shoulders. "Here, take this."
I accepted it and stopped walking, looking into his eyes. "Jesus, I love you. I love you so much," I told him, grabbing his face and connecting our lips. He placed one of his hands on my waist and cupped my chin with the other, deepening the kiss.
I don't know what took over me, but the danger of this situation made me realize how much I appreciate him. We may never see each other again and I needed him to know how much he means to me.
"I love you too, Brandy," he whispered against my lips, his genuine smile imprinting into my skin.
"Okay, it's official, I'm going to melt," Emrys announced, ruining our moment. "Do you guys want me to melt?" his offended voice tore us apart as he crossed arms on his chest.
"Can we have some privacy, Em?" I laughed, resting my head on Jesus' shoulder as he kissed the top of my head.
"No, if you want to have sex, it's going to have to be in front of me," he replied with a smirk.
"What kind of disturbing kink do you have?" Jesus joked, furrowing his eyebrows.
Suddenly, Emrys' eyes turned dark and as he was about to shout, a loud bang echoed through the air, tearing up the sky.
I glanced at Jesus, who fell on his knees as an unknown darkness surrounded his chest.

Present day
My eyes were swollen and cheeks wet as I silently sobbed and dragged Emrys through the town.
Neither one of us was able to say anything and my mind was blank, mouth dry and knees weak. Although Jesus' jacket was keeping me somewhat warm, my body was trembling from the coldness which wasn't coming from the air, but from my heart.
Here and there, the sobs would get louder and my sight blurrier, but then I had to remind myself this is no situation to lose control. Emrys' life depended on my strength and if we don't get him somewhere safe on time and stitch his wound, he will bleed to death.
"Brandy, we need to go to a hospital," he told me, but I immediately rejected his idea.
"Are you fucking insane? Do you really think they didn't already put our pictures on streets? People will recognize us, Em! We can't risk it," I told him and he sighed.
"Do you think they will see the warrant when they are working in hospital the entire day?" he defended his opinion.
"I think it's too late for that," a low, husky voice stopped us from further walking.
I glanced at Emrys as we slowly turned around. In front of us was a man, whose gun was pointed at us. His amber eyes were spakling with determination as his outfit revealed his profession - which was a cop. Emrys cursed under his breath, looking to the ground.
"Officer Conan," Emrys greeted him with a smug face. It was no doubt he was suffering from a horrible pain.
"It's Detective Conan, now," he told him as he came closer, his gun still pointed at us. "I need you to separate from each other and turn around with hands raised in the air."
"Are you insane? He will collapse, he just got shot!" I refused to let him go, gripping Emrys' shirt tightly.
I've lost everyone in the past hour, I can't lose him too. He's the closest to family I've got.
"I will shoot you if I have to, so do as you've been told," he said directly to me. I looked at Emrys, trying to see if he will be able to stand alone.
"I am okay, please don't get shot," he chuckled and I let him go, raising my hands in the air and admitting my defeat.
"Get in my car," Detective Conan told us with seriousness you only see with the authorities as he cuffed us.
"Okay, we will, but please help him," I begged him and glanced at Emrys' leg which only looked worse as time flew by.
He stood quietly for a while, considering the situation, before saying, "Okay, but if you try anything, you'll regret it."
Emrys and I got in the backseat as Detective Conan drove. His eyes were constantly scanning us through the rearview mirror as one thing ran through my head, silence drowning my sadness.
The love of my life died.
