ೋAct 1ೋ
Violet P.O.V
Loud voices were shaking up the quiet castle in the early dawn. I walked the forbidden kingdom's castle as the workers buzzed within it. The servants reminded me of the bright morning bees.
The young maids rushed beside me, bowing and wishing me a good sunrise. It was such a perfect morning, but I felt flooded with everything surrounded me.
I drew in a deep breath as I knew the perfect place to be, my safe harbour. When I came across it, a smile covered my lips. The image right before me was the perfect fairytale. It had been a long time since I walked these gardens.
Everything around me enchanted my senses, starting from the wind gentle murmuring to the unending dawn-pink sky. But the magical view before me left me dazed. The white satin wrapped the long trees, creating a natural arch, falling on the green grass.
The wooden beam pinned the huge chandeliers. As the white crystals fell as a shiny teardrop from the merciful heavens.
The perfection that lay before me struck me, leaving me lost. Then I felt a pair of strong arms being wrapped around my waist, drawing me toward this stranger's strong chest.
"Good morning, love." He said.
I closed my eyes, cherishing this moment. "Morning, handsome," I said, turning around to face Leonidas. This is too perfect because twenty-five years ago Leonidas asked me to marry him. I couldn't believe that Leonidas is the same man.
"What's wrong, my love?" He asked, forcing me to face him. "Oh, my sweet, sweet Violet. Please don't look at me with those eyes, they break my heart."
I lay my head against his chest, "Leonidas, I don't know what's wrong with me... The fear that I'm feeling, I can't explain." I whispered.
He carried me closer to him, but I could hear the confusion in his words. "Why are you frightened?"
"I don't know Leonidas! But I feel I'm losing my son. Leon is not the same anymore." I stated, moving away from Leonidas watching the busy maids moving around the gardens. "Leon is turning into a younger version of you! The same version who forced me to..." I said, giving him a dirty look.
Leonidas took a deep breath, "You will never forgive me and I can't blame you. How can you forget the lake event."
"No!" I yelled back. "But I learned to live with it, but it doesn't mean I will let it slide," I stated as I turned around to face him. "Our son lost his mind. Why is he behaving like this? Is he trying to prove something? I know him too well. And to make everything worse, your daughters are refusing to get married!"
"Our daughter, Clara is in her early thirties! She is a princess, a beautiful one! And you know what she chooses? Wars and battlefields over getting herself a husband." I said, flashing him a dirty look.
A loud laughter filled the Eden-green gardens. When I turned around I saw amusement covering Leonidas's eyes. "Why are you surprised? Clara is just like you. Did you forget that I forced you into this marriage?"
"It's not the same. Do I have to remind you that you were arrogant and hateful... But her betrothed is a perfect gentleman."
"Violet, we can't force her to marry him It's not the right... We can hope that the right guy will come along and give her a taste of her own medicine." He stated with a wicked smirk covering his lips.
Leonidas drew me closer to him, whispering the following words. And my dear lord, I can't believe this man! My eyes widen in disbelief.
"Let me get this straight, my king. You want to give your son a woman on his name day?"
Leonidas pulled a bottle of whiskey out of a young maid's hand, drinking straight out from the bottle. I snatched it out of his hand, hurling it across the gardens.
"Why would you do that?" Said Leonidas, in a whining tone as the sadness, filled his eyes.
"Are you whining over that bottle and ignoring what you told me!" I scolded, trying to hide my face.
"Listen, love, Leon will turn twenty-four. And I desire to make this name day special for him... I know that there is something eating him alive."
"Liar," I pronounced. Everyone around this kingdom knew about Leon's nature. That boy was a replication of his father. He's reckless, womanizer and crazy in a battlefield.
I crossed my arms over my breast and snorted in annoyance. "Do you believe getting him a woman would change anything?"
Leonidas gazed at the smashed bottle across the gardens through a pair of thick-lashed dark blue eyes with a frown covering his face. "Leon had been causing me a headache. I wanted to keep him busy somehow, love. If I didn't do that, he would've been somewhere trying to steal a land or kill another king!"
Leonidas shock his head, "Yesterday, he told me he wanted to begin a new war... What am I supposed to do? I can't control that boy."
I raise one eyebrow, it was a several shades darker now. "I don't believe our son need more woman's."
Leonidas nodded in an agreement." I'm aware, my love."
"What?"
"Come on... You know that your son is out of control. He's a womanizer."
"It's true, mother." Said Clara.
I twisted around to face my oldest daughter. She was leaning on the huge satin frame. "And I can tell you I can hear their voices, my dearest mother! You know that my chambers are right next to his..."
I covered my face. My sweet, Leon was an innocent boy, but now that boy was gone.
"Why can't I get freedom! It's always Leon and Clara." Said Ella through clenched teeth.
Leonidas laughed, and I turned to face him. "You're laughing?"
"It's normal, love. Ella is the youngest, but she's the smartest. Mark my words, Violet. Someday Ella will marry a very strong king. She is like her mother and she will wrap him around her little finger. As for Clara... She's more like her father. She's a war machine and can build an empire alone, and she will."
I drew a deep breath and looked at Leonidas through my lashes. "Will you quit feeding their ego!" I said through clenched teeth. "What can we do Leonidas?"
"Grant him a woman on his name day? And hope she'll be one of a kind." He stated with a knowing grin.
"He would never take her seriously! He won't give up his disgusting behaviour! You know what's the problem with your son? Most of his ladies believe that they'll be the one."
Leonidas was about to speak, but I shushed him right away. "Whatever you're planning for that boy... I don't desire to be a part of it." I was about to leave the gardens, but I turned around and pointed my bony finger at him. "On second thoughts, I desire to know what you will do! I can't imagine what you will do to that boy..."
"All you need, my dear father is a classy young woman. Who can conduct herself with so much elegance, who would catch his eyes right away."
I huffed as I gazed between Clara and her father. But my younger daughter, spoke before me.
"I don't think any classy girl will volunteer to be my dear brother's name day gift."
"You're right Ella, any decent woman won't do that... Prince or not." I took a deep breath. "Tomorrow is his last chance, there will be a ball on his honor. If by then that boy didn't behave... He will meet his mother's demons and he won't like them."
I was about to leave the gardens, but then I turned to face Leonidas. "You stated that you had something planned for him... And for his sake, I trust that you are telling the truth, love." I stated as I rushed out of the gardens. There was a great deal of planning to do.
