Leon's P.O.V
Throughout the rest of the day, I rode like a madman who lost it all. This day seemed endless, so long. I've never ridden in such weather for this long. A great storm was forming up in the heavens. The storm snarled and mewled with its deadly voice, sounding like a wailing phantom crying Alena. With every snap, my body shivered like never before. With a broken spirit I looked up, the Azure had shrunk down upon the land, viewing it with a murderous hatred. The rain the storm brought with was bitter, like silver bullets of spite. It had slashed every living thing, pitying no one.
Once Alvin's soldiers realized that we outgunned them, they wheeled their horses around and retreated. I had no choice but to trust both Ardal and Drake to tie up any loose ends. They were men of war, and this should be easy for both. And I knew that they would never abandon anyone, and I can't waste any second when I know Alena might have the chance to survive.
I couldn't afford to linger here in the Ancient maze to fight Alvin even if I wanted. I had to find my father, Leonidas he is the only one who could save Alena. But how can I reach him fast when a deep sea separated us.
Once I reached the docks, there were no ships. There was nothing there but death. I looked down at Alena; she was drowning in a mixture of blood and rain. As I dismounted, drawing her into my arms and tugging the hood of her cloak over her head, protecting her from the torrential rains, my love was as limp as a corpse in my arms.
Her breath against my throat started to grow weaker, and before I knew it, her soft breath was gone.
"No, no this is not happening," I whispered into her ear. "Don't you dare to die! Don't leave me. It's not your time yet. Damn you, Alena; you don't get to do this to me. You can't sneak into my life like this and slip out this fast, do you hear me? Please, please answer me." I pleaded and begged over and over, but nothing changed.
"I love you," I whispered faintly. "Don't go." I couldn't control my tears as they escaped my eyes unwillingly, dropping on Alena's cheek. I lost Alena, and there was no way to bring her back even if I wanted.
Slowly fantasm-grey mist started to hang over the docks. It seemed as if it had arisen as part of the docks wet breath. I watched with a broken heart as the event started to occur to me. The mist was motionless it was more than air and less than flesh and blood. Then I saw the old Queen. She was faint but clear before me. The same woman who I believe is Alena's mother. She looked at her daughter with tears in her eyes; she knew that Alena lost this battle.
But what happened next left me speechless, like the rest of the ancient army formed behind her, but they didn't appear as skeletons. They were ordinary men and woman.
The old Queen looked at me one last time before she started to speak in an ancient language to her army. Then she gazed at me and began to cast a spell. The moment she began to cast it, a small light started to form right before me the more she spoke, the bigger it became. However, the light didn't get any larger. Defeated she stood, but one of the knights started to repeat the Queen's spell. With wide eyes, she gazed at him, the rest of the army followed his lead and began to recite the spell. The Queen looked at her army and joined this once again.
The once small light that was before me started to form a portal; I looked at her confused. "What am I supposed to do?" I asked her like a fool.
"Find them." She whispered. "Your parents can save her. Go, now before the portal disappears. We're free from this curse now; you are on your own, Leon. Keep her alive."
I nodded slowly and walked into the portal; I had no idea what was awaiting me on the other side. My parents exiled me from my kingdom, and they didn't want to see my face again until I prove myself worthy.
The moment I opened my eyes, I was in the heart of the throne hall of the forbidden kingdom. I heard the clicking of heavy armour approaching me. My cloak hid my face; I was on my knees with Alena in my arms. The soldiers pulled their swords pointing it at me.
"What an unusual entrance," said a voice I knew too well. "You're brave I'll give you this boy." He hissed.
But Leonidas became quite all of a sudden as I heard a swift movement moving toward me.
"Your majesty be careful we don't know who is this?" Said Misty in a quiet whisper. But it was all to deaf ears as she kneeled next to me pushing away my hood, showing my face.
"Leon?" She murmured with tears running down her cheeks. As checked me when she saw the blood she almost lost it. "Are you hurt? What happened?"
"Save her," I begged my mother. "Don't allow her to die; mother save her please," I said defeated.
"She is gone, I can't feel her pulse. I'm afraid she is gone." Said my father not moving from this throne. My desperation grew into a rage as I stared up at him.
"You are still as arrogant as ever, looking down at us like we are nothing. You will never change." I hissed, the nobilities who filled the throne room became speechless as they gazed down at me.
Leonidas stood up and started to move closer to me, "Did you lose your mind boy?" He roared. "You never learn! We excited you because you challenged us. Do you think I care if she lived or died?" He added with a bitter laughter.
"Father, you should know better how I feel right now. Didn't you lose mother once, but fate smiled in your face when you didn't deserve it." I fizzed.
"You ungrateful-" he was about to start again, but the Queen spoke once again and silenced him.
"She is still alive." She said as she pulled Alena closer to her. Then her eyes were fixed on her stomach. She swallowed nervously, "Leonidas finish this another time." She added in a hushed voice.

Alena's P.O.V
The last thing I remember after approaching the ancient maze was an unbearable pain in my back it felt like fire, spreading throw my veins. It was so painful and soon I was falling even Leon wasn't fast enough to catch me.
Then everything became so dark like a moonless night; I felt as if I fell into the darkest abyss, but I could still feel Leon's arms around me. I heard every word he said. I heard when he begged me to stay, and I heard him when he stated that he loved me.
Was I surprised Leon felt the same way? Yes, I did. He loves me too, but why was he doing all that I never understood.
But I was not surprised when I felt his presence when the first glimmer of light started to pierce the receding shadows. I have slowly begun to open my eyes, waiting for my head to stop spinning. When it finally did, I found myself gazing into the gentle eyes of a white husky sitting in front of the crackling fire.
"Why are you here?" I whispered not understand anything. When I looked around, I couldn't find the words tp speak. Where was I?
The husky folded its fluffy limbs and sank into resting position.
"How are you feeling, darling?" Asked a soothing voice.
I turned around and saw her, Queen Violet and next to her was King Leonidas. Leon would end up looking like his father when he grows older. The Queen wore a dark Violet lace dress, while Leonidas wore a black armour. It was weird I've never seen him without it, he looked as if he was always for a battle and he was a hot-blooded man anything could drive him mad.
"Your majesties, you must be Leon's parents." I blinked up at them, trying to bow.
"I thought you were dying, Well, for the past few days. I thought that you might die," said Leonidas bluntly. As he leaned forward. Violet gave him a side look, and he became silent right away.
"Mind your tongue! I worked so hard to keep her alive so don't scare her to death." Said Violet.
I could not stop myself from smiling as I looked up at Violet as she came shuffling toward the opposite side of the bed. As Violet drew closer, I realized how young Violet looked.
"Relax child, don't allow that beast to fight you. You are going to be alright." She said patting my hand with a knowing smile.
"Violet is right about that... No, one can harm you now as she took you under her wing." Said Leonidas dryly. "If it wasn't for her you would be moldering in your own grave by now."
Violet eyes widen so much as she faced her husband and king. "You can't help yourself ever? Can't you hold your tongue, Leonidas?"
Then slowly she turned to face me. "For years my son, had nothing dear to keep to, and I feared back then, but now I know that he will be all right. He got you Alena and your child," she said with a knowing smile. "This year was hard on Leon; I was heartless, and I knew that I was the cause for all this." She said taking a deep breath. "But I wanted him to become a better king someday. When your child grows you will understand, my child."
"Yes, you know it all, Violet... I wish if you would confess for once that you don't know anything!" Teased Leonidas.
As they continued to trade insults, my gaze my gaze kept bouncing between the two of them. They weren't behaving like King and Queen but like the married couple they are.
"What the hell?" Leon exclaimed from the doorway. "Why didn't you tell me that she woke up?"
As Leon moved closer to the bed, I struggled to push myself up on the pillow. The sight of him shocked me like never before. His handsome face was haggard, and there were dark circles under his eyes, and his jaw was unshaved.
Leonidas waved his hands coldly as he settled back in his chair, "I wasn't going to wake you from your first nap you had in five days. Don't you trust your mother to keep her alive?"
Violet moved away from the bed with a smile covering her face, making a way for Leon to kneel beside it. He laced his fingers through mine. His eyes were searching me as if he was making sure that I was alive.
"What happened that day?" I asked Leon.
"It was an ambush by Alvin," He said holding my hand tighter.
"What about your knights? Are you alright?" I asked.
"They are fine when Alvin's men knew what they were facing the ran for their lives. You were the only one who got hurt." He said with grimness covering his face.
I didn't say anything as I watched his speak.
"Alvin assassin was hiding within the trees even before we arrived her was there for a reason. He wanted to kill me." He said. When I reached to touch the edge of the bandage, Leon smile gently. "You were lucky your stab was a clean one as it went straight through your shoulder. All you need now is rest, and you will be all right."
I tried to recall what happened that day, and all I could remember was Leon shouting my name. "I heard you call my name?" I asked.
I left my face to meet his gaze only to find fear clouding his eyes, "I would've lost you both if you didn't turn that day." He whispered.
"Yes, and it would be all your fault. You are an idiot boy," Said Leonidas. "Why on earth would you drag her to a battle? I knew that I had a mentally challenged son," He whispered the last part.
I gasped as I heard Leonidas's words.
"Now you understand what I had to deal with all this time. Now you know why I walked away?" Stated Leon.
"Oh, please ignore him, Alena. That's how I say I'm right, and he's wrong." Said Leonidas.
Leon was about to answer his father, but Violet spoke, "Enough already!"
All of sudden Leon clutched his chest as if he was in pain. Violet moved closer to him. "Leon are you alright?" She asked as worry covered her face.
"I'll be alright, mother; I just need to rest." He said leaving the room.
"What's wrong with Leon? I've seen him like this before." I asked with tears filling my eyes.
Violet took a deep breath, "My son got a weak heart. He hides it well, but it started to weaken him." She murmured.
