Alena P.O.V

For four lonely years, no one within the towers dared to say those harsh words. However, right now I was spilling my heart out to a man who I didn't trust Leon is dangerous.

Yet, all that didn't matter finally I could speak those words with no fear. It took me less than a second to realize Leon hidden smile. It was a smile of triumph, he was trying to tell me that he got what he wanted. The same smile I saw the day he stopped me from marrying Alvin.

"Were you the reason behind your father's death? How could it be?" His smile was clear now as it became a clear sarcastic laughter. "Just tell me what madness did you commit, you wicked lass? Did you lock yourself outside the castle? Or did your fluffy white cat stomp on your mother's favorite gardens?"

I lifted my chin slowly, meeting his cold blue eyes. "I drove a man crazy... I broke his heart."

I was expecting Leon to start laughing like a maniac once again, but what happen next forced me to respect this man more. His laughter died and grimness started to cloud his handsome face.

I looked around me and gazing at the face of the knobbly mountain it was rumpled and sacristy quite. The white snow was freezing my feet and the antarctic wind started to lash my face without mercy.

"When I was twenty years old, my father had enough with my behavior. I refused to wed anyone I didn't love. So he forced me to travel to a different kingdom seeking the love I could never find. And for the very first time my heart started to flap like an excited bird. I met the man of my dreams and got engaged to him, I was engaged to Neomerilis. He was the love of my life, I loved him more than anything in this world, but a week before the wedding, I had to call it off. I had to leave him."

"Why? I don't understand if you loved him so much why did you leave him?"

I turned away from him, looking at the white-angel twin mountains they looked threatening as I stared at it with pain. My heart was as heavy as the dark skies and mountains. I didn't want Leon to witness my tears. "I realized I couldn't be so selfish," I yelled angry at the dark sky.

"I realized that if I stay with him he will die! Alvin was always following me, making my life a living hell and when he learned about Neomerilis, he was planning to kill him. Each time I would be with Neomerilis on a ball Alvin would never leave us alone. But the man I loved was so blind, he didn't understand anything. All he could see was Alvin affection toward me and that drove him crazy."

Leon winced in pain as he heard my words. I thought that he would be angry. But Leon was far from it.

"Neomerilis didn't take any of that lightly. He wasn't a regular man and couldn't wed such a woman even if he loved her. He made it quite clear that he didn't want anything to do with me. But I knew better..."

"What happened to him?" Asked Leon curiously.

"That's not the right question Leon."

"Tell me, angel."

"He was generous enough to ask me to become his mistress after he been married for a while."

"Such a gentleman!" Leon declared with narrowed eyes, he looked like a beast waiting for its prey to fall.

I moved closer to Leon as I spoke. "When I refused he asked me to go back to Alvin and beg him to marry me before it was too late."

"But you didn't," said Leon. It wasn't a question.

"Perhaps, it turned out already too late. Alvin destroyed me. I always knew that he was a low life. And Neomerilis broke my heart when I learned that he was engaged to another woman. Alvin was far from done he spoke to my father. Forcing him into a marriage that would never happen. Unfortunately, Alvin's tongue turned to be worse than his temper. When he learned that he couldn't have me, he spread rumors that my friendship with Neomerilis was more intimate than it had been. He destroyed my reputation and forced me to live in the dark shadows. But do you think that this bastard was done? No, he wasn't done. He turned most of the knights on the royal family and killed my parents..."

"Those bastards... It sounds to me that you bruised their pride than breaking their hearts."

I shrugged. "I'm afraid, that it's all the same. My parents were dead and I locked myself in a tower for my own safety." I closed my eyes slowly, as I remembered my father's warm scent. "I was always my father's weakness and Alvin knew that too well."

"But your father was going to leave you under Alvin's mercy!"

I turned to face him in frustration, surprised to find myself trembling in anger I hadn't felt in a very long time. "You don't have the right to pass judgment on my father! Not when you were the one who wanted to trade me for this kingdom! What do you take me for Leon? Do you think I'm stupid? Did you think for a minute that I couldn't see through your actions? Who do you think you are? You act so mighty as if you were superior that everyone else!"

"All I know is that I would never allow my daughter to fall under the mercy of such men!"

"Regardless of what you believe, my father died protecting me! He wasn't a weak man. They ambushed him." I shouted. "I won't allow you to stain his name with such words. My foolishness destroyed us."

"Foolishness?? Do you call your love for that man Foolishness? I don't agree on that. Neomerilis is not a man, if he truly loved you he would've been able to feel what you were going through. You spoke of him as if he was a celestial creature as if he was a god. While in reality he is not even a man." Said Leon as his gaze dropped to my lips, lingering there long enough to fill me with sudden warmth.

"I was the one who destroyed everything and ruined my family."

"And when you marry Alvin how can you avenge your family? Answer me, if your father died protecting you from that man what are you doing?" Shouted Leon. His eyes were dark and unforgiving.

"I've made a mistake!" I cried, refusing to meet his hot gaze.

"You're naive young lass who mistook Neomerilis lust for love and paid dearly for it."

When I heard Leon words a traitor tear escaped me. "It was a huge mistake. I have no intention to make it ever again."

Almost as if I challenged him, Leon drew me dangerously closer to him. Even though he loomed over me, that didn't threaten me, but his tender touch and warm embrace did. He reached slowly for a stray golden curl tucking it behind me ear. "Once you marry Alvin, you won't worry about it. You'll have neither love or lust to trouble your soul, love."

There was no doubt in his words. Neomerilis never loved me and Alvin always wanted the throne, but where does my child stand in this? How can I face Leon? How can I even tell him about the little one?

I knew better that if I married Alvin, my heart will never race like this again, It will never hammer again and I would never feel a blush warming my cheeks, I would never yearn for his touch. Just like the urge, I was feeling this very moment. As I gazed up into Leon Stormy orbs.

Before I realized the warning my heart was booming in my ears, his mouth was on mine, moving over my lips with tenderness. He might look and behave like a madman, but his kisses were so sweet. He swiftly moved his lips back and forth over mine, knowing how much pressure to apply to flatter my lips apart, allowing his tongue to slip inside.

I blushed when I remembered our night together, only this was much better. I saw the real Leon, I saw the guy that I fell for not long ago. If anyone saw us right now he would though that we were old lovers.

The kiss was nothing but gentle. As Leon's tongue was having his wicked way with mine, my hand rested against his hard, smooth chest.

But I felt as if the spell started to finally catch up with me as I wanted to tug him down and attack his lips more viciously.

Slowly Leon started to pull away then he gazed down at me with worried eyes. And I understood right away what he meant, this was a message of what I would lose if I married Alvin and I knew one thing for sure, I can't underestimate Leon, he's more dangerous than what I've imagined.

A sign escaped my lips as I spoke slowly. "What was that? Was it my punishment?" I whispered.

"No, it wasn't," He replied with grimness, covering his face. "That was my punishment for coming after you."

Before I could understand what he said, He pulled my hands roughly toward him.

"Did you forget something, love?" I asked mockingly. "I'm sure you had your share of woman's before me. I'm surprised that you didn't try to leave me with a bastard on me."

"Don't try me, love. Who knows, maybe you're with one." He shot back giving me a dirty look.

My face paled as I heard his words, he couldn't know. He can't, right?

"I want to go home, can't you imagine how my family feels now?" I asked him with glass eyes.

"Family? The dead ones?" He laughed bitterly. "What do you take me for, woman?"

"If you don't let me go, I will run again! I will not allow a man like you to trap me here." I said through clenched teeth.

And before I knew it, Leon stopped walking, I almost ran into his broad back. He turned to face me again, his face was unreadable. "You don't know anything about me, love. I understand that you might want to run again, but I won't allow you. That kingdom will be mine and until then you're stuck when me, love," he said holding hid gaze with mine. "Because if you tried to run again. I'll do something you won't like Alena." He added as he kept pulling me behind him. Leon words were clear and I didn't need anyone to explain what he meant.

Leon P.O.V

I moved forward ignoring the feeling in my chest, this wasn't how I imagined my encounter with Alena. What I did was unacceptable. But that woman was pushing me so hard it was a miracle that I didn't push her off that cliff.

If she tried to escape once again, I might not be on time to save her. It made my blood boil imagining her in such a situation.

I give her a hand as we moved forward within the depth of the forest. If she didn't move any faster we won't make it on time. All I wanted was to catch some sleep before the sun starts to rise.

All of a sudden I felt someone pushing me, she nearly knocked me off balance. I turned around slowly my anger started to grow and might explode. "Can't you be any slower-"

When I turned to face Alena I was shocked. She looked so tired, her eyes were almost shut and she looked so pale as if she was about to collapse any moment.

I took a deep breath, catching her before she falls. She looked like a fallen angel as I held her in my arms.

It was clear that she was worn out and she couldn't move any further. I closed my eyes slowly. I had two options either I would camp here or I would shift into my dragon, but I knew better not to risk that.

As I fixed our new camp, I took a look at her. She didn't deserve any of this. This was her wedding night, she should've been home, in a warm bed with a loving husband. I watched the rise and fall of her chest with a longing look maybe this was what I'm looking for. Maybe this was the love I always wanted. I gazed at Alena with eyes filled with lust, running a hand through my hair, I was so helpless when it came to her.

I've always looked after my friends Ardal, Art, Cain, and Cavan. But when it came to Alena I couldn't help but to worry and lately everything started to change. I feel this unexplained pull toward her as if there was something forcing me to protect her.

I stared back at her with worry. All I had now was the camp fire and the heat of my own body. But after that foolish kiss all I needed was to lie down with her here.
