Black Thorns Part One
"Help!" A voice screamed as a young woman ran over to the captain of the Blue Rose as well as Sol. "Please! You two have to help me!"
"Calm down. What is it?" Charlotte asked calmly as the woman fell against her in a sob.
"These people...these men captured me or my sister...please...please. I got away but my sister...please....she is still there." She gave a small sob into her hand. "Please...you have to go and help her!"
"Of courses! Where are these men?" Charlotte asked firmly.
"In a forest...I can...I can take you there." She said softly swallowing.
"Good and don't worry! Char and I will get her back!" Sol said punching her fist into her hand. The woman managed a small smile as Charlotte sighed. "Sol. Call me Captain."
"Sure thing Char," She said with a grin. The captain of the blue rose sighed and shook her head. She just looked at the young woman. "Just lead the way there but then you should leave."
"Of course." She replied. She took a soft breath and led them both away. The building was silent but it easy to track the mana as well as the footprints that lay in the dust on the floor.
Charlotte frowned though as she couldn't help but feel something was wrong. The mana she sensed felt so strange. She ignored it though and they both came to a stop where the tracks just vanished along with the feeling of the mana.
"It's a trap!" Charlotte said but before she could activate any spell they both became encased in an unbreakable shield. They both looked shocked as they could not feel any mana.
"It's the perfect trap for magic knights. All of you rely so much on your magic. It's part of your life after all." A calm male voice said as two people stepped out of a hidden area.
"LET US GO!" Sol shouted as she punched the shield that was around them. Only to wince a bit as a small shock was sent through her body.
"As I said. The perfect trap." He replied with a small smirk. "Nearly impossible to escape from."
"I'm surprised catching them was so easy." Said the woman from before as she walked over calmly.
"Well you're a wonderful actress," he said with a laugh. She just shrugged and leaned against the wall.
"This was all planned," Charlotte said looking between the three who stood before them. "Who are you three?"
The last member who was there just scoffed. "You don't remember me. Figure." He said his voice cold as ice.
Charlotte looked at him and frowned a bit. His eyes...they looked familiar. Sol also tried to figure out where they knew him from. He just shook his head in disgust as Charlotte's eyes widened in shock. "Your one of my knights."
"I think you mean servants." He spat. "Or don't you even remember your own rules? Men who become blue rose knights are just lackeys and servants. We aren't knights. We just go around getting things or delivering things none of you can't be bothered with."
He shook his head and turned away. "Asdis. Let's go," he said turning to the woman beside him.
"Alright." She said as she moved away from them and the two walked away. Before Zion fully left he looked to the other teammate he had and said, "Asorin. We'll be back soon. Watch them."
He just nodded and soon Charlotte and Sol were left alone with this Asorin. They were still both a bit surprised and just unable to figure out a reply. Aspirin just sat back and tilted his head a bit as Sol broke out of her shock first and tried to punch the shield again.
"That will not work and you did already try that," He pointed out.
"Shut up! Char and I can get out of this!" Sol snapped.
"The shield you are trapped in is magic of an ancient time. I do not mean since the time of the first wizard king. I mean long before even this kingdom existed." Asorin said again surprising the two once again.
"How do you have such magic like this? Who exactly are all of you?" Charlotte asked.
"Of course. How rude of me," He said, and with a bow, he said, "My name is Asorin and you do know the young man who left here with Asdis...or rather at least know of him a bit. As for why I have such magic like this...that's not important."
Charlotte looked to her grimoire and then back at Asoirn and asked, "I suppose you will tell us what your plan is?"
"It's simple. He wants revenge. It's rather surprising you did not figure that out." He replied. "Under you, being a male knight, of the Blue Roses he has been nothing but a messenger boy. Do you really place all men under that stance of what you think? Why even have male knights on your squad if you want your squad to be special for women. I know you will not have an answer but it is something to think about."
"If he didn't like that why didn't he just leave?" Sol asked folding her arms.
"You really don't understand do you?" Asorin said shaking his head. "Zion Vandran. Once a young child who dreamed of being a Magic Knight as many children do. Wanting to protect his home and his family and that dream only increased when he watched in hiding with his little sister as his parents were slaughtered by some invading knights from the Dimond Kingdom. Seeing their death only urged his heart onward to now protect his little sister.
So he trained with all he had to become a magic knight. He put all his heart into keeping him and his sister alive. He worked and strained himself and pushed all he could. Then....he got his deepest wish. He became a magic knight of the Blue Rose. Yet, perhaps he got a bit disheartened at first seeing how things were there. He ignored it though and kept going. Perhaps he thought someday he could prove himself or maybe he tried to reason for being sent to send messages around rather than going on missions. Nevertheless, he did all he could and he even made a friend. Another magic knight under your squad. Another male by the name of Ward. They were close friends but sadly fate can be cruel to some more than others. On a very small trip to deliver something to a town once again, he had to watch as someone else he cared for be struck down. His best friend died in his arms."
Now Asorin paused and looked at the two who were silent. Neither of them had known this. They did have a small report that two male members of their squad vanished. Yet, when they did get out to look for them. There was nothing to be found.
"Grief does a lot to someone." Asorin continued once again. "He had his friend die and only bearly escaped these bandits who outnumbered him greatly. He dragged himself to his home, to where his sister was, but once there. Do you know what he found out? Some noble kicked his sister out of the home he got for her. She died of sickness on the street. He had nothing and no one. He swore with all his heat to have vengeance on those who made him suffer. He does blame you and your squad for a great deal of what happened to him. For him never being able to even get close to his dream. After all, how could he when he had no chance under you. He blames you for his friend's death since he did try to call for help. No help came. He does blame the other noble family for his sister's death but he also blames you since if he never went on the trip he would have seen her sooner. He wants you to suffer as he suffered."
Charlotte was silent at this as Sol snapped, "None of this was Char's fault! He had a bad life but he should just get back up!"
"You have never been alone have you?" Asorin asked turning to Sol. "I mean truly alone? He had no one. No where to turn and no one to go to. Everyone has a point where they crack and he reached his. It's unfortunate that the world has forgotten that within magic and in life there is always a price that has to be paid for your actions. Yes, it could be minor or it could be something like this. Ruins of someone's life. Besides not all men fall into your narrow view of how things are."
