"Loyalty is a decision, a resolution of the soul."

The club was flooded with CSI and LAPD officers and detectives as they questioned each of us about the body. Everyone was in the middle of being interviewed except me, I was standing idly by since I was already spoken to - I was the first. So I was just leaning against the bar and waiting, since Ahsoka is the one who is supposed to drive me home - which she was more than excited about.
And there was also one individual here who was questioning Anakin himself — Obi-wan.
I secretly sent him a text as soon as I had a chance in the midst of the chaos, and he was more than delighted to use this as an opportunity to talk to Anakin face to face, for the first time.
Obi-Wan always liked to call himself the ghost of the operation because he knows there's a high chance that Anakin is aware that he's being sought after. But not once has Anakin seen the face behind the orchestration that is determined to bring him down. And now he has, although he's oblivious to it.
Obi-Wan arrived looking like a normal officer in uniform, and him and Anakin sat on one of the couches as Obi-Wan questioned him. Anakin was seated at the edge of the couch with his elbows on his knees, his hands hiding his mouth, and his gaze forward, as if he was in deep thought.
"And where were you around the time of death between two and three am yesterday morning?" Obi-Wan questioned with the slight narrowing of his eyes, the loathing in them was prominent. This has been his mark for years after all and to be this close to him; I'm sure is both thrilling and infuriating at the same time because he's so close, yet so far.
"Here, in my office." Anakin mumbled quietly, only moving his hands for a second to allow the words to flow through the air before he got back in the same position as before - looking distressed.
"At the scene of the crime, how convenient," Obi-Wan said with a hint of attitude to his tone as he wrote something down in a small notepad. Anakin caught on to his 'tude and side-eyed him with a vexed glare.
Wait a minute, did he say between two and three am? Fuck. Anakin was with me at that time with his head in a waste basket - meaning it couldn't have been him who put the body there. And he was absolutely wasted so I'm more than positive he couldn't have orchestrated a murder either; this had to be someone else. But who?
"What exactly is that supposed to mean?" Anakin retaliated, "You think I did it?" He asked with a raised voice.
Obi-Wan then smiled with a light shrug, "I'm just trying to gain all the facts Skywalker. But with your reputation, I wouldn't exactly put it past you."
Anakin looked ready to fight with his hands already balled into fists. Usually it takes more to provoke him, I've learned that he's a pretty level-headed guy, but with the day he's had, he's hanging on by the thinnest thread there is.
"It wasn't him," I blurted out without thinking and both their gazes were now on me. Obi-Wan gave me a surprised look and Anakin looked just as stunned, but also thankful.
"If you have an alibi for him Miss..." He trailed off, pretending not to know who I was; Or he genuinely forgot the name he assigned to me. Which wouldn't surprise me seeing as I had to correct him multiple times when he called me something else.
"Winters, and I do." I nodded.
"Then please share it, we need as much information as possible if we want to find the right person who did this," He said as he tilted his head and gave me a 'what are you doing?' look.
I know he wants to get ahold of anything to be able to hold Anakin behind bars, so this whole ordeal was like a present on Christmas morning to him. But I wouldn't be able to consider myself an honest cop if I allow Anakin to go down for something I know he didn't do.
I want this job done as much as Kenobi so I can get that in at Quantico and go back to my life, but I also want it done right.
I took a few steps closer and shifted my gaze between them, "Well during that time he was upstairs with me. He had a lot to drink and got sick, so I was taking care of him." I admitted, causing Obi-Wans expression to change into one of intrigue. He hadn't known about that yet since I didn't have a chance to tell him like I was planning to.
Then he turned his attention to Anakin who had his appreciative eyes on me, "Is what she's saying true?"
Anakin slowly nodded without looking at him, "Yes, and my sister was there too, you can ask her. She's the brunette over there yelling at one of your fellow officers." He only glanced at him for a second as he gestured to Ahsoka before returning his eyes to me.
"I already told you where I was, are you dumb or just plain stupid?" Ahsoka's voice bounced off of the walls, and the officer mumbled something that was incoherent since unlike her, they were talking with their inside voice, "Well those are your only two options cause you're clearly not smart - so it's dumb or stupid, pick one."
(Okay I think Alexa Demie is gonna be my choice, she fits so much in my opinion due to this Ahsoka's fire. Lol)
Obi-Wan stood up with a sigh, knowing he was going to be next in line to her attitude and insults, "Both of you stay here, I'll be back." He walked away but not without giving me a subtle side glance. I'm really going to hear about this later, but like I said, I'll put Anakin behind bars for something he did do, not something he didn't. I have my morals.
As soon as Obi-Wan was far away, Anakin stood up, "Thank you (y/n)," He took a few small steps closer to me as he eyed me with a sympathetic gaze, "And I'm sorry you had to be the one to find him, I can only imagine how traumatizing that was for you."
Oh right, I'm supposed to be normal. I sighed solemnly, "I don't even know how to feel," Except dumb, I feel dumb for pretending like this, "I just hope they find who really did this and soon." I pushed tears to my eyes. It wasn't too difficult, I just kept thinking of this one movie that always makes me sad. I wouldn't want to go into any of the heartbreaking details, so I'll just say that Hayden deserved better.
Anakin slowly placed his hand on my shoulder for comfort. He was so warm too, and his touch really did have a calming affect, "If you need time off for yourself I understand and if you feel like you need therapy I'll pay-"
"No," I cut him off, "Sitting in my apartment alone will not make me feel any better, I'd rather be here. And as for therapy, that's unnecessary, I'll be okay — I'm a strong girl." I gave him a small reassuring smile, which he returned.
"You really are," He removed his hand and where I once felt his warmth, I now felt a cold breeze, "But if you ever change your mind-"
"I'll come to you," I assured him.
"Good," He took me by surprise by gently poking my nose, and now it was me whose cheeks were burning. It was such a strange gesture, but so... endearing, "Now I have something to do and if that dick comes back remind him I have an alibi and I no longer have any legal obligations to speak to him." He said with a slight eye roll before turning around to waltz up his stairs.
"Wait, there is a dead body right outside and you're going back to work?" I asked in disbelief.
He paused and faced me as he shook his head, "I'm not going to work, I'm going to do my own investigating. I already have my suspicions that someone is trying to pin it on me and I might know who," He said the last part low enough for only me to hear.
He went to walk away again but I placed one foot in the stair case, following him, "Anakin if you have your suspicions then why not share it with the police so they can figure it out."
He fully faced me again and started down at me since he was a couple of steps higher than where I was, "Because cops are useless and more than half of them have the IQ of a squirrel. And you heard that cop he's biased and not going to listen to anything I say, so I can't trust them to do shit."
I take offense to that, I happen to have very high IQ.
"So I will doing this by myself, my way." He finished as he spun back around on his heels and walked up the stairs without another word.

"Thanks Ahsoka, I'm sorry your brother is forcing you to do this." I opened the passenger side door to get out of her brand new Range Rover as we reached the front of my apartment building.
"Hey, my brother can't force me to do anything, I'm more than happy to take you home," She assured me with a kind smile, "Besides, I actually kind of like you." She shrugged.
I chuckled as I grabbed my bag from the seat, "I like you too," And I actually meant that, "And thank you again."
She nodded, "Of course, and are you sure you're going to be okay? I can stay over if you're scared to be alone." She offered and I was tempted to say yes and I probably would have if it were any other day, since a sleepover is a perfect way to get closer to her and gain more of her trust.
But today is going to have to be a no since I'm positive Obi-Wan is waiting up in my apartment, ready to scold me for stepping in to Anakin's defense earlier. I also happen to see his car parked conspicuously a little ways down.
I put on my sweetest smile and shook my head, "I'll be okay, my apartment is a mess and I'd be too embarrassed for you to see it," I told her and I could see the disappointment in her face and I started to feel guilty - I hated being the source of another's sadness. I was also starting to wonder if she even had any friends or if it was really just the others at the club and now me, and of course her secret love, "But a sleepover sounds really fun, we should do that next weekend after our night out." I attempted to fix her mood.
And thankfully it seemed to have worked since the disappointment instantly washed away from her features and was repealed by an excited smile, "That sounds like so much fun, and we can stay at my place too. My room is huge and I have a king sized bed we can share." This just keeps getting better and better. I never thought gaining access to their house was on the table, but here it is being handed to me so easily, "I doubt my brother would mind if you stayed over, in fact he'd probably be jealous you and I will be sharing a bed." She smirked and I couldn't help but smile laugh.
"Stop with that, your brother and I are not going to happen." I said with complete confidence.
Ahsoka tilted her head with a fascinated look in her eyes, "It's so weird, you're the first girl to ever walk into the club and not fall to his feet —except for lesbians." She added, "They all just swoon and I don't see it because he looks like a troll to me, but other girls seem to love him."
I'm not sure if this was her attempt to make me feel jealous, but it obviously wasn't working. I'm not surprised though, it's clear why he's popular amongst women, he does have a charming affect, "He's a nice guy and he is handsome," I admitted. I'd have to be blind to not see that, "But it's in my own best interest to stay away from guys like him. They're almost always bound to cheat given the amount of temptations they come across." I made-up an excuse since I couldn't say 'no thanks I'm married'. But I feel like my excuse is also valid.
She nodded slowly, "I get that, I've had my fair share of shitty relationships involving infidelity. But one thing I will tell you that my brother is, is loyal."
"You're really not gonna give up trying to get him a girlfriend, are you?" I asked with a light laugh.
"Nope," She popped with the shaking of her head, "That man needs happiness, he's constantly stressed and taking care of everyone besides himself. It'd be good for him to have something that makes him smile for once." She sighed as she took her car out of park, preparing to leave.
"He'll find it." I said with a guilty smile and hidden doubt. She loves her brother to death and if she knew my real reason for being here, I have a feeling she'd kill me herself.
"I hope you're right, have a good night (y/n) and I'll be here to get you on Monday. And call me if you need anyone to talk to, I'll be free." She shot me a sweet smile with a peace sign.
"You too and I will," I closed the door and tossed my bag over my shoulder as I spun around to face my apartments lobby entrance.
I sighed as I walked forward and pulled the glass door open, time to see Obi-Wan.
