Skywalker, or I guess Anakin - I should get used to calling him that in my head so I don't refer to him by last name out loud. It was just a habit because that's what Obi-Wan calls him, but now that I reached us being on a first name basis, I should get out of the habit and take advantage of it. It shows that he's slowly starting to consider me a friend, in a way; which is exactly what I wanted.
Anyways, Anakin went upstairs with Rex awhile ago and I never saw him again. I did see Rex though, he came down alone with a device in his hand and he was slowly walking around the entire bar with it. It was a scanner, he was looking for anymore planted devices which thankfully I only put the one, so he never found anything else.
But he did end up going in the back employee area and as I passed by our break room, which is also our locker room, I noticed him scanning each locker. I just wasn't sure if he was checking if the lockers were bugged, or if Anakin is suspecting an employee to be the one who planted it and had hopes they'd be stupid enough to have another on hand. It could be both, which made me a little nervous. But I had faith that my little innocent act worked and he wouldn't suspect me at all.
Then after Rex finished his search, he went back upstairs and has yet to come back down. The club was open now and filled with people who were dancing like maniacs and sweating all over each other. It made me cringe, who the hell thinks rubbing up against a sweaty person with bad body odor is fun?
"That looks like so much fun," Ahsoka sighed as she poured a cocktail and eyed the crowd of drunken adults.
I side eyed her with a grimace that I knew she couldn't see. Of course she would would be enticed by something so — vulgar. Personally I've never been clubbing, I've been career focused since the day I realized what my goals were.
"We should coordinate a day off and go out, get to know each other better. Plus I feel like we could both use a little night of fun to dance the stress away." She turned to look at me and I plastered a smile across my face.
That sounds nauseating, "I would love to," But it would also be be a good opportunity to get closer to her. And who knows, maybe drunk Ahsoka will be chatty Ahsoka.
"Really?" She asked in surprise, like she had expected me to say no.
"Yeah," I shrugged as I handed out a few drink orders, "But when? We both practically work every night."
"Hold on," She held her finger up to me and swiftly pulled out her phone.
I couldn't see what she was doing at first, but when she put it up to her ear, I figured she was making a call. She waited a few seconds and tapped her foot on the floor with impatience, before finally, whoever she was calling answered - prompting her to speak.
"I don't care if you're right upstairs, I don't feel like making the walk," She rolled her eyes. That remark was all I needed to hear to know who she had called, "(y/n) and I need next Saturday off, I'm taking her clubbing." She said to her brother and remained silent as he mumbled words I couldn't quite make out due to the loud music, "Who are you, my fath-" She paused and straightened her posture as if she just got scolded or 1 threatened to take her brand new car away which she was gushing over for the first hour of our shift - she even took me outside to see it and cried, "Okay fine. Yeah love you too, bye." She hung up the phone with an annoyed sigh.
"I'm guessing he said no?" I asked with a raised brow as I pressed on one of the taps to dispense beer into a glass.
She then smiled at me as she stuck her phone back into her apron, "No he said yes, but just as long as we come here and I don't drink," Her smile slightly faltered and now I understood why she was displeased. Who would want to come to work on their day off? No one in their right mind.
I knitted my brows, "And why won't he let you drink? You're old enough to, aren't you?"
She then took me by surprise by shaking her head, "No, I'm only nineteen — yes I heard you can't you see I'm making it?" She snapped at a guest who was constantly shouting the same drink over and over like we were deaf or stupid. Just because we're conversing doesn't mean we're not listening or working, people just love to be unnecessarily rude sometimes.
(So even as they talk, they are in fact working. I just don't want to constantly put "I handed out an order", "I took the cash" it seems repetitive so just know that even if I don't mention it - yes they're still working!)
My eyes widened as I ignored the guest and tended to my own orders while continuing the conversation, "You're nineteen? How are you even working at a bar, I thought you had to be twenty-one?" I'm a little rusty on certain laws, but I think that's right.
"No you can be eighteen," She informed me as she handed over the freshly made drink to the annoyed guest, "That'll be twelve."
"Twelve?" He complained, "It was six yesterday."
"Yeah well I doubled it to make up for your attitude, now give me twelve dollars or I call the owner and tell him you weren't being very nice to me. Which he won't like since I am his pride and joy after all," She smiled sweetly as she held her hand out and the man gave her an irritated glare, but paid her what she asked for. If he was here yesterday like he said, then he must've witnessed Anakin's little show, so he's smart to listen to her. After, she turned back to me with a victorious grin, "Anyways, eighteen is the age limit, but most places won't hire anyone under twenty-one because they're worried the underaged will get curious and have a drink. Which would put the bar at risk of losing their liquor license. But with Anakin being my brother, he trusts me and knows I'd never put him in that position." She finished her explanation.
That's something a cop like me should know, so it's a good thing she dusted out a part of my brain and educated me. When you're in the academy, they throw so much information at you it's impossible to retain it all.
I nodded in understanding, "Well that's sweet that he trusts you so much," I smiled, it was then that remembered something from earlier, something I have been meaning to ask her about, "Also, do you know why your brother wants to see me later?" I questioned.
She smirked and I already regretted asking, knowing where her mind went, "No, but maybe he wants to ask you out on a date." She wiggled her brows.
I rolled my eyes, "Ahsoka, your brother does not have a crush on me, we just have a decent working relationship," If that's what I can call it, I have only worked with him a total of four times, including today.
She chuckled while popping open the register and grabbing change, "Right, and that's why he was this close to railing you against the sink earlier."
"Ahsoka," I scolded her with wide eyes, my jaw dropping open with disbelief, "He was just helping me, that's it." I will admit though, he was a lot closer than he needed to be. But I just chalked that up to his flirtatious nature that I'm sure is something he displays to many women - as I've said before.
Although come to think of it, I have never once seen him talk to anyone else. He mostly keeps to himself, like a typical introvert.
She turned her whole body to face me with raised brows and a mischievous grin, "Yeah and he nearly knocked me down to get to you first. Me, and he has a heart attack whenever I wear heels because he's nervous I'll break an ankle or something. But yet he had no problem almost throwing me to the ground."
I had no idea what to say at this point. This girl built her own ship, became the captain, and set sail — leaving me to gaze from afar as she drifts down the horizon.
Thankfully though, I didn't have to muster up any words for her because our conversation was thankfully interrupted, "Hello ladies, I'd like to pay ahead for a few rounds of bottle service."
Ahsoka's expression immediately fell and her once joyful nature turned into something cold and hostile. Both of our gazes were now on Clovis who was dressed in all black, much like Anakin, and he was leaning against the bar - eyeing me with a lustful glint in his eyes.
"You're actually going to pay? Did hell freeze over?" Ahsoka snapped at the attractive brunette, which only made him chuckle as he threw cash onto the bar.
"Only if she is the one to deliver and definitely not you," He returned her attitude, then turned his attention to me, "Nice to see you again darling, you're looking rather," He eyed me up and down, "Stunning tonight, I'll see you soon." He winked before turning away to head up the stairs with a few men who looked to be around his age following in his steps.
As soon as he was gone, Ahsoka groaned in disgust, "(y/n) if he makes you feel uncomfortable then I can tell my brother and-"
"No," I cut her off as I shook my head, "It's fine, I wouldn't want to start any drama over this. As long as he and his drunken friends keep their hands to themselves, I don't mind it." Plus I actually wanted him to talk to me, I wanted to get to know more about who he is and this is really my only opportunity to.
She looked hesitant, but nodded with a sigh, "Alright but if they so much as lay a finger on you or you feel in any way that you're being sexually harassed, I'll go the kitchen and get the biggest kni-"
I placed my hand on her shoulder to help ease her nerves, "That won't be necessary, I know self-defense so if any of them get handsy, someone just might get a broken arm." I winked. I actually have broken a man's arm before, it was on accident, and it was also my husband.
But in my defense, he begged me to practice on him before I had any proper training. So yeah, the results weren't the best.
"You bad bitch," She bore a devious smile, "You have to teach me."
I shrugged, "Sure, I wouldn't mind helping a fellow woman out." I'm just hoping she won't have to use the skills I'll be teaching her in prison — I pray she has no real involvement to anything.
"Perfect," She beamed with excitement, "But seriously though, if any of them touch you, tell me or Anakin - we'll deal with them because we've had issues like that in the past. And also, don't fall for Clovis' charm, he may be handsome and alluring, but that man is the actual devil." She pointed up at him and I diverted my gaze upwards to see him watching us. He then raised his brows as Ashoka's obvious gesture.
Great, now he knows we're talking about him.
"You say that likes you're someone who has fallen for his charm?" I joked with a light laugh, only I didn't get a laugh in return like I expected. Prompting my eyes to widened, "You didn't-"
"Stop," She raised her hand to shush me, her eyes holding a look of embarrassment and disgust, "We had a brief fling before-"
"Is everything alright over here?" Piett appeared next to us with knitted brows, his attention shifting more to Ahsoka who was now quiet, "I saw Clovis come over and I wanted to make sure he didn't say anything to upset either of you." His eyes were still on Ahsoka and I was wondering if he had any knowledge of this past fling or not.
"No," I answered him, and his eyes were now on me, "He was paying for bottle service," I reached forward and took the money Clovis had left on the bar before any guests got bold.
He looked stunned, "Did you say he paid for it?"
I nodded, "Yeah but-"
"He said she has to be the one to deliver it." Ahsoka finished what I was going to say and now her and Piett were looking at each other, having a momentary conversation their eyes. I'm starting to suspect there was something I was being left in the dark about since they both seemed uneasy about Clovis only wanting me around.
I don't think it makes them suspicious of me in any way, but there's clearly something they're worried about.
After a few seconds of silence, he hummed, "Alright, I'll be back and please let me know if he ever makes you feel uncomfortable." He said to me before heading straight up the stairs and making a left — he was going right to Anakin's office, no doubt to tell him.
Ahsoka cleared her throat and continued with her work, "Ahsoka, is there something you all aren't telling me?"
She didn't look me in the eyes as she spoke her next words, "Let's just say, Clovis is no stranger to taking what he wants."
Her words were vague and left my mind running with multiple possibilities of what she could have meant. But there was one guess in my head that left me feeling uneasy.
I glanced upstairs towards the VIP section, my eyes locking with his — then, he winked.
