Rayne's POV
———
I nod to Ciel, my young master, before exiting his study.
I'm supposed to make us some tea and then spend some time with him.
As I'm walking into the kitchen, Finny hops up to me and asks politely, "Miss Rayne, could you help me with the garden for a moment?"
I have a small dilemma in my mind on whether to follow orders to push that aside for a few minutes to help a fellow servant, and I choose the latter.
It won't take that long, anyhow.
What could go wrong?
I smile at him and nod, "Sure, Finny."
He then leads me to the garden and my jaw drops in shock at what he's done.
All of the plants are dead! Shriveled up and dry.
I stare at Finny as he blushes in embarrassment and rubs the name of his neck. "Did you use to plant killer stuff again instead of the fertilizer?"
Finny nods sheepishly, "Yeah, I did. Sebastian told me that if I did something like this again, I would be in trouble. That's why I asked you to help me fix this."
I sigh and rub my eyes before saying in determination, "Alright, let's fix this."
Ciel's POV
It's been longer than fifteen minutes and Rayne still isn't back with my tea, so I get curious and look out the window after hearing a shout.
My eyes widen then narrow in slight anger as I see Rayne helping Finnian with the garden. Rayne was the one who shouted.
"Finny! No, not again!" she had yelled.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Finny yells back.
I sigh and rub my temple in irritation. Of course this happened and he asked Rayne to help him fix it.
I watch them hustle about and listen to Rayne scolding Finnian on what he's doing wrong, her ears twitching and tail flicking in slight annoyance. I'm not too mad at Rayne, just at Finny. Though I am..upset..that Rayne didn't follow my orders first.
She will need to be punished, and so will Finny for ruining the garden for the hundredth time in the past week and for distracting my precious Rayne.
I patiently wait for them to be finished, deciding not to make this a big deal in front of the other servants. I will handle this privately.
Starting with Rayne.
I just listen and watch them run about in the garden, trying to fix everything. I mainly keep my eye on Rayne, having liked her ever since she started working for me.
I then glare as Finny gets too close to Rayne for my liking.
I crack my knuckles and breathe deeply, holding myself back from making any irrational decisions. Such as having Finny killed for this.
He's my servant, so killing him would be a loss for me and the manor. No matter how idiotic he can be.
Rayne's POV
I trip over a vine as I'm distracted, but before I could fall I feel a pair of strong arms catch me.
I look up and see that it's Finny. I smile at him as he helps me stand straight. "Thank you, Finny."
"You're welcome, Miss Rayne!"
We then start to finish up the garden, and it looks as good as new. I can't help but to feel someone watching you every move, and it isn't Finny. He also looks uncomfortable, so he must be feeling something too.
Finnian thanks me for my help and I nod, heading back inside and checking the time while wiping a bead of sweat away.
My eyes widen in shock. It's been almost two hours!
Ciel is going to kill me..
I didn't expect this to take so long!
I sigh and make Ciel's tea before hurrying up the stairs and to his study door. I knock gently and breathe raggedly as Ciel calls for me to come in.
I open the door and walk inside, shutting it behind me with one foot. I set the tea down on Ciel's desk as he has his arms crossed, staring up at me.
"You're rather late, aren't you?" Ciel asks calmly, and that's a sign that he's not very happy at all.
I'm just lucky that he hasn't started yelling yet like he would with the other servants.
I back away and bow before standing straight again, no making eye contact. "I'm sorry, young master. Finny has asked me to help him with the garden, and I didn't think it would take as long as it did."
Ciel stands up. "I understand, but you still must be punished."
He walks up to me, taking confident strides. Ciel stops in front of me and lifts my chin up so I look him in the eye. "Look at me when I'm speaking to you, Rayne."
The way he said my name makes my heart beat faster, knowing I'm in for trouble.
Ciel backs me up to the door and cages me in, locking it so I can't escape without hearing me unlocking the door to notify him. I flinch under his stare, but he makes me look at him again and presses his lips onto mine.
He kisses me forcefully, and I just melt into it. I have to say, he is a very good kisser, especially since I've loved him for the longest time. Ciel keeps his hold on my chin so I can't move away if I wanted to, which I don't.
Once he realizes this, he slides that hand down to my jaw and leaves it there. His other hand on the other side of me on the door so he won't crush me.
My hands rest on his chest as he comes as close as possible, and before I know it, the kiss is over. Leaving me wanting more.
Ciel steps back and smirks at me, walking back to his desk and sitting down, looking at me again.
"That's your punishment. Don't make another mistake, unless you want more," he winks and waves me off as dismissal.
I hurriedly get out of there and shut the door behind me. I lean against it and slide down, my heart rate out of control and my face burning.
I can't believe that just happened.
Maybe I'll have to misbehave more often.
