Alexanderia's POV
———
I pant as I run from the burning manor, only stopping to catch my breath by the edge of the woods. I face the manor with tears flowing down my face as I watch it get engulfed in flames. Realization hits me..
My family.
"CIEL! MOTHER! FATHER! NO!"
•••
Shaking my head at the saddening memory, I lift my head up high as I walk up to where my old home used to stand.
I'm shocked to see that the manor is there, rebuilt after so long. I don't have a clue how long it's been since this has been built, but I'm assuming not long since I haven't been here for roughly around four years.
Wait...could they be alive after all?
I clear my throat and hurry up to the manor door, knocking swiftly. I wait impatiently, then the door opens to reveal a tall and handsome butler.
He has raven hair and blood red eyes, and is much taller than me. The last time I saw Ciel, I was around his height, but I have grown. Now I am up to this man's shoulders.
He gives me a smile, "Hello, to what do we owe the pleasure?"
"My name is Alexanderia Phantomhive, and I was wondering if any of my relatives are still living," I tell him bluntly, my face stoic.
The man raises an eyebrow at me, "Phantomhive? Ah, yes, are you related to Ciel Phantomhive, perhaps?"
My eyes widen a little, "Yes, I am. Is he here?"
He nods and lets me in, "Indeed he is. If you will follow me, my lady."
I do so and ignore the stares from the other servants. My hair sways gently as I walk, studying this mysterious man ahead of me.
Excitement courses through me as we reach the study door, and when the butler knocks, he calls out, "My lord, you have a guest."
"Tell them I'll meet with them later," I hear my younger half-sibling reply, and I almost smile at hearing his voice.
He's alive!
"I think you'll want to speak with her now, my lord. Something tells me that she is rather..important to you."
Silence fills the air for a few moments before we hear Ciel call back, "Let her in."
The butler opens the door and lets me go in first, following behind and shutting the door. Ciel is working on paperwork, but when the door closes again, he looks up and locks eyes with me.
He's wearing an eyepatch over one eye, only leaving one ocean blue eye to be seen. He looks exactly as I pictured him to be when older, I just never imagined him wearing an eyepatch. It suits him, though.
Ciel's eye widens at the sight of me as he stands abruptly. Mine open wider as well as my hands fly up to my face, covering my mouth and nose. Tears fill my eyes and his.
He steps out from behind his desk and I drop my hands, smiling at him. He manages to smile back as he runs to me, wrapping me up in a tight hug. I hold him with care, laughing and crying at the same time. Ciel's doing the same.
The butler stands off to the side, watching with a tiny smile of his own.
We rock back and forth for a few moments until we break apart, but don't fully let each other go. I set my hand on his cheek that doesn't have the eyepatch and he leans into it, his tears rolling onto my hand, down my arm. But I couldn't care less about that.
"Ciel..I've missed you. So, so much," I mutter to him quietly, and he looks up at me again.
"I've missed you too..I thought you died in the fire," he whispers back.
"I thought you did too."
Ciel hugs me again, and this time, it's much shorter than before. When we pull apart again, he takes off his eyepatch and reveals a...contract. I glance at his butler, already knowing the situation.
We wipe our tears away and keep our smiles. Ciel looks to me and motions towards his butler, "Alex, this is my demon butler, Sebastian. Sebastian, this is my half-sister, Alexanderia."
Sebastian steps closer and bows while I curtsy to him. We stand straight and he puts his hand out, which I take as he gingerly kisses the back of my hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Lady Alexanderia."
"And I, you, Mister Sebastian."
I take my hand back as my face flushes, then Ciel and I go back to our stoic selves. We used to show our emotions more, but not after...you know.
Seeing Ciel here, it became clear to me of the missing presence of our parents. They're gone now, and we're pretty much all we have left of one another.
Speaking of which, I haven't seen Elizabeth or Madam Red in a long while.
After chatting for a while, Ciel orders, "Sebastian, prepare a room for my sister."
Sebastian nods and bows, "Yes, my lord."
Before he leaves, he sends a wink my way. I nearly chuckle at that, my face warming up.
"So, a room?" I inquire, sending Ciel a small smile. He gives a smirk back.
"Yes, of course. I want you to live here with me. You are my sister, after all. I refuse to lose you again."
"You will never lose me, Ciel. I accept your offer."
•••
I watch as Ciel and Madam Red have tea, Lau sitting in a chair with a girl who's name I had forgotten. We're all working on a case to solve the Jack the Ripper murders.
I stand by the door, just listening.
Later on, it's decided that we will be going to a party held by Lord Druitt, or Aleistor Chamber. Ciel will be dressing up as Madam Red's niece to be in disguise. Since I'm not very known that largely as a Phantomhive, I will stay the same rather than dressing up as her nephew.
I watch as Sebastian ties the corset onto Ciel, him yelling out in pain.
"That's enough! Any more and you're going to kill me!"
"Now now, young master, a lady has never died from putting on a corset."
"Speak for yourself," I joke, still struggling to breathe in mine underneath my dress. "It's a pain to wear. At least now someone other than another female will know what we women have to put up with.
Not only that, though, wearing these corsets are practically destroying our internal organs. Wait, scratch that, they are destroying our internal organs."
"Then why do women wear them?" Ciel manages to let out as Sebastian ties off his corset.
"We have to. Not just because of society, but also because of physique or posture."
"She is correct."
"That's completely and utterly idiotic. If it hurts a woman, then why are they forced to wear them?"
"It's frowned upon for women to not wear them, Ciel," I state, chuckling slightly.
"Indeed, but women don't have to wear them if they choose not to," Ciel protests as Sebastian helps him with his pink dress.
"That's true," I nod.
"Are you just concerned because you're worried for your older sister, young master?" Sebastian questions.
Ciel tsks, "Of course I am! There's no need to have to ask that, Sebastian."
"That's sweet of you, Ciel, but I'm alright. I'm more concerned about you being put in one."
"Appreciated, but how do you know what damages the corsets cause, anyway?"
"Madam Red told me," I explain. "And I've read up on experiences of other women as well."
"Intelligence. It seems to run in the family, doesn't it, young master?" Sebastian asks rhetorically, Ciel nods.
My face flushed a little when Sebastian had looked over at me as he said that.
•••
We're at the party now, and Ciel asks irritably, "Now just why do I have to dress up as your niece? Alex here is already one."
As Madam Red begins to explain the plan to Ciel, his face and posture stiffens up when she mentions someone knowing that he is here on a mission. I just know that later Ciel will complain about what would happen if someone recognized him here, and that his reputation would be ruined.
While they're talking, I spot Lord Druitt in the crowd amongst other women. I watch them for a moment, deciding something on my mind.
I face my team again, and seeing them distracted, I shake my head and start making my way over to Druitt.
Before I can get five feet away, someone appears in front of me. Sebastian.
"What are you doing, my lady?"
"I'm getting this over with."
"My young master could do this instead, my lady."
"I know. I'll save him the trouble and do it myself. Tell him that for me, please."
With that, I walk around Sebastian and continue going towards Druitt. Sebastian goes back to Ciel and immediately tells him the plan.
As they walk around, keeping an eye on me, I spot Elizabeth in the crowd. My eyes widen and I hurriedly look back to them, motioning behind them. They turn and Ciel visibly pales, then turning around and rushing out of there as Lizzy calls out to them. Apparently she thinks Ciel's dress is cute.
I keep my face hidden from her as I walk around aimlessly, having lost Lord Druitt.
Sebastian had eventually lead Ciel to the balcony, and I'm wandering off to get farther away from Lizzy. Soon enough, music begins to play and Sebastian leads Ciel onto the dance floor, since he is his "tutor" here.
Suddenly, my hand is grabbed and I'm lead onto the dance floor as well. Getting into position, I realize that I'm dancing with Druitt himself.
Trying not to cringe, I dance with him. I can feel Sebastian's eyes following us as we dance across the dance floor. Eventually, Sebastian and Druitt are back to back for a brief moment before we all dance in opposite directions with our partners.
Once it's over, Druitt and I break the position, yet he stays close.
"You're dancing is amazing, little blue jay," Druitt attempts to flirt, and I force myself to smile and giggle at this.
"Why, thank you. I have actually been looking for you," I respond in a slightly higher and girlier tone of voice, putting one hand behind my hand to clench my fist.
"Have you, now? My, what for?"
"I'm bored of all this dancing and eating. Do you have anything more entertaining we could do?"
"My, my, what a spoiled girl you are, little blue jay," he teases.
"I am a lady, not a girl, my lord."
"Well, I do have something we could do, but it's a bit...inappropriate, I'm afraid," he mutters in my ear, trailing his fingers down my waist.
I grind my teeth a bit before responding, "Don't tease me, my lord."
Sebastian distracts the crowd with a magic trick, Ciel standing behind the box as he eyes me and Druitt carefully.
This is my chance!
"Please, my lord, can we go? I've seen far too many acts such as this before."
"Anything for you, my little blue jay."
Druitt leads me upstairs and as he opens the door for me, I clench my fist again, sensing that something is going to go wrong.
It's dark in the room and once he shuts the door behind us, he says, "I'm sure you will find this most entertaining. I sure do."
Breathing deeply, I lose my balance and fall back against the door, sliding down it to the floor. Feeling dizzy and suddenly..tired.
Druitt said something else, but I can't hear him anymore as I black out.
When I come to, I can't open my eyes because of a blindfold. I'm tied up and as I feel around, I realize I'm in some sort of cage.
Druitt speaks, and as he does so, I understand exactly what's going on here.
He's trying to sell me! So this is what he does! Sells women off at auctions as if we're objects!
Disgusting.
Druitt describes me, and there are whispers and cheers amongst the crowd.
Someone unties the blindfold covering my eyes, and I can see again.
I faintly hear Ciel yelling, "SEBASTIAN! I ORDER YOU TO SAVE HER!"
I hear the candles in the room fizzling out and people falling to the ground. My eyes adjust to the darkness, but then the candles light up again and my eyes have to readjust.
There stands Sebastian, and he walks up to the cage holding me calmly.
"My, what predicament have you gotten yourself into, my lady?" Sebastian jokes, bending the bars.
I giggle at that, "Well, I think it's blatantly obvious, don't you think?"
He chuckles and nods, "Indeed."
Sebastian grabs me and carries me out of the cage, then setting me down to break my restraints. When he looks into my eyes, time seems to slow.
"I forgot to mention, Alex, but you do look beautiful tonight."
"Thank you, Sebastian."
With that, he leans in and presses his lips onto mine. I ease into it and kiss him back.
It ends shortly after it started, sadly, and he picks me up to carry me back to wherever Ciel is.
"Thank you for saving me, Sebastian."
"You're very welcome, Alexanderia."
