Lily's POV
———

Things seem to have gone south for London recently.

There has been a handful of murders happening lately, and to be quite frank with you, it's both annoying and scary. I just can't help but to feel sorry to the families who've lost somebody due to these kills.

Ciel had requested to meet me at his manor later tonight, for which I'm not sure. Although, I have a feeling that this is about these murders.

Obviously I agreed, and he told me to stay safe along the way. Whenever I think about him and how caring he can be, my heart begins to race and my face grows warmer.

That only gets worse when I'm around him, though. I don't let it distract me, and it doesn't always happen, so that's good.

I step in the carriage and we're off to the Phantomhive Manor.

I just sit, thinking as I subconsciously put pressure on where my keyblade and pistol are, calming my nerves a little.

I'm standing in front of the Manor doors in mere minutes, just waiting for someone to open them for me.

Seconds after knocking, the door opens and reveals Ciel's butler, Sebastian Michaelis. He gives me a smile as he lets me in. I give a small one back, hoping my anxiety and depression don't strike any time soon.

"Lady Evergreen, glad to see you've made it without any trouble," Sebastian says with false kindness, and I can see the sadistic nature in his blood red eyes.

I know he does care, if not a little, so I choose to ignore the glint in his eyes that are always at a constant. Nodding up at him, I reply, "Thank you, Sebastian. And Lily is fine."

He then leads me up to Ciel's study, where we agreed to have our meeting. "My master has been expecting you, Miss Lily."

I smile slightly at that, "Oh, really? Do you know what this is about, by chance?"

Sebastian shakes his head with a mischievous smirk, "I'm afraid you will have to wait and hear my young master out, my dear."

Chuckling, I respond, "Fair enough."

Sebastian and I stop in front of the study, and he knocks on the door. "Young Master, your guest has arrived."

"Come in," Ciel calls back, full of confidence.

We enter, him letting me go first, and I stand in front of the door as Sebastian glides behind Ciel's chair. Ciel gives a barely noticeable smile as he stands, walking over to me.

"Hello, Lily. Glad you made it here safely," Ciel states in a monotone, but I know he means what he says. He then wraps me into a gentle hug, which I return.

"Hello, Ciel. Thank you," I reply back, and we break apart moments later.

He nods to me and leads me over to the chairs on opposite sides of the chess board, holding my wrist in a firm (yet soft) hold. I think I can see his cheeks tinted a light pink, but I shrug it off as just my imagination.

Why would he blush by holding onto me?

I sit down in one chair, then Ciel sits in the other. We begin our game and start to catch up.

After a short while, I inquire as I try to look into his ocean eye, "So, what was the meaning of this meeting, Ciel?"

Ciel looks up and locks his gaze with mine, finishing up his turn before answering, "I wanted to ask something of you."

I raise an eyebrow and complete my turn, us now paying full attention to one another rather than the game. "What would that be?"

"Will you join me in solving these murders happening here in London?"

I smirk in happiness and gratitude as I give my response.

"You've got yourself a deal, Ciel."

•••

Tonight's the night.

Where we catch the killer.

Over the course of the past two weeks, we've been gathering evidence and looking for patterns in the murders. We've gotten a lot of information, and enough to turn the culprit in.

I have also grown closer to Ciel in a way that I never thought possible with him.

In a romantic way.

Ciel has broken off his engagement with Lizzy a while ago, and nobody but him and his servants know why. Not even I know, and I'm one of his closest friends.

I don't take offense to it, as I respect his privacy, it's just that I'm curious as to why he did what he did.

Anyway, Ciel's plan is to confront the killer face-to-face. Sebastian and I are here as back-up in case things go wrong, or until Ciel gives us the signal.

I'm hiding behind a wall in an alleyway, where Ciel will stop the killer. Sebastian is farther away, so it'll take longer for him to get to Ciel, even with the super speed he has.

That means Ciel's life is basically in my hands right now.

If I screw up, he's dead.

That's why I won't mess up.

Hopefully.

The killer walks out, and Ciel immediately steps out from the shadows and calls out, "Hey."

The guy stops, then faces Ciel. They're a good few feet apart from each other.

I clutch my pistol in my hand, ready to take action if needed.

"Who are you?" the killer demands, reaching for his back pocket. A weapon is there, and we all know it.

My grip tightens on my gun as I watch the interaction, keeping my eyes glued to his weapon.

Their conversation begins to go sour as it continues, and the killer fully brings out his weapon and aims it at Ciel.

A handgun.

"Say goodbye, Phantomhive," the killer growls, putting his finger on the trigger.

I snap and step out, raising my pistol and shooting at his gun with deadly accuracy. His gun flies out of his hand, and he shakes his hand in pain and shock, glaring in my direction. I keep my pistol raised, this time aiming at his head.

"You kill him, I'll kill you," I burst out sharply, continuing to glare back at him. Ciel glances at me and nods as thanks, and I smirk at him.

Sebastian appears behind him in the shadows, just lurking there as he waits for the perfect moment.

"I'll kill you...both of you!" he yells in anger, then Sebastian grabs him and throws him to the ground.

"I do believe you won't, sir," Sebastian says cooly, an evil look in his eyes.

Ciel comes up to me and grabs my hand, leading me away as Sebastian starts to slowly kill this man in the most painful ways possible. I try to ignore the screams as we walk away, and he helps me into the carriage as we wait for Sebastian's arrival.

The screams begin to fade at a steady pace, but they will surely haunt me for a long while.

Ciel watches me bluntly as we're sitting on opposite sides of the carriage, and I begin to fidget nervously under his stare. Gathering courage, I meet his eye and ask with confidence, "Why are you staring at me like that?"

He shakes his head with a tiny smile, "No reason. I just thought it was cute how you defended me back there."

I blush a bit, and he does too. Ciel stands and sits next to me, grabbing my hand in his with both hands as he continues to look deeply into my eyes.

"I've needed to tell you something for a while, Lily, and it's important. It's alright if you don't feel the same, but I love you. I'm so madly in love with you that words cannot even express it," he confesses, and my face feels like fire.

Smiling, I whisper, "I'm in love with you as well, Ciel."

He leans in and kisses my lips as a response, and I melt into it. It feels..nice. I love this. I love him.

Sadly, it ends shortly after. However, his smile makes up for it. Ciel's giving me a genuine smile, and it's not one of the smaller ones.

I smile back and we hug.

"I will always love you, Lily."

"And I, you, Ciel."
