Chapter 8-Lucy has a boyfriend

Narrator's P.O.V
It was Friday morning, the day Nastu would meet the rest of Lucy's friends. Sure Natsu was excited, but the nervousness was overwhelming. He didn't know what was going to happen and he remembered what Lucy said, but he just couldn't bring himself to believe all of it.

As he thought about the events that went down yesterday, he wondered what was wrong with Lucy. Maybe it was her insecurities kicking in, thinking she wasn't good enough, did she think he hates her because that wasn't true, if anything he owes her. He owes her because she is trying her hardest to help him despite the fact that she herself needs help.

Natsu was alarmed by the alarm clock (Hehehe) that took him out of his thoughts, he checked the time and saw it was almost time for him to go and got ready for school. He went downstairs for breakfast, he didn't see his dad, so he just decided to eat an apple on the way to school. Natsu grabbed his apple and walked out the door to go to school.

~Meanwhile with Lucy~

Lucy had a hard time falling asleep last night because she kept thinking about what happened with Nastu. She hurt him and she doesn't think she could ever forgive herself even if Natsu says it's fine.

Lucy was adamant about not letting Lisanna have Natsu before, but that all changed last night. She thought about her sudden realization that Natsu needed to forget about her, after she helps him, and needs fall in love with Lisanna.

A quiet knock knocked (Hehe) her out of her thoughts, hoping it wasn't her dad, she got up to open it and she was surprised to see it was her ill mother. "M-m-momma what are you doing out of bed, you have go back to your bed." Lucy stuttered out, still in shock about seeing her mother out of bed.

"Lucy dear I wanted to see you because I haven't seen you in a while." Layla, Lucy's mother, said weakly before she started to cough.

"Oh m-momma I'm sorry. I just have been really b-busy, but I will make more t-time for you. I love you momma, so let's g-get you back to b-bed." Lucy said trying not to cry.

"Okay dear. I'm *cough* glad that *cough* we will spend more *cough* time together before I go." Layla said trying to suppress coughs that kept coming up.

Lucy didn't know what else to say, so she nodded her head as she opened the door to her parents bedroom and laid her mother down in her bed. "I love *cough* you Lucy." Layla said as Lucy laid her down.

"I'll come v-visit you soon. I love y-you momma." Lucy said while exiting the room.

Lucy leaned on the door and started to cry silently to herself just thinking about her mom. She didn't want to come to think about the fact that she didn't have much time left with her mom.

Lucy walked back to her room and started to get ready for school because she had to leave soon. After she finished getting ready she went downstairs to get breakfast, but decided she wasn't in the mood to eat, so she just walked out the door, not bothering to check if her father was home.
~Time skip to first period~

Natsu's P.O.V
In first period Lucy was seemed really out of it today and if someone asked her about it she would say she was fine with a fake smile that seemed to fool everyone. I didn't ask her because I knew I would get the same reply, so I put it off for now and decided to ask her about it later. When I started to finally pay attention in class Mr.Clive was talking about some project.

"So class as some of you know I always give a project at the beginning of the year that is worth half your grade." Mr.Clive said as some students let out groans and a couple of them booed him. "Now now class settle down, I haven't even told you the project yet and since this is a sketching class you will obviously have to sketch something."

"Well what is that something old man!!" Gray the have naked kid I met yesterday yelled from the back of the classroom.

"First of all Gray put some clothes on."

"Shit, I didn't even know I took them off!! Where did they go?!" Gray exclaimed looking around the class room for his clothes. Once he finally found them Mr.Clive continued to speak.

"Second of all I was getting to that until you rudely interrupted me, and third of all this assignment will be a two parter in my class and in your painting class." everyone groaned again after Mr.Clive said that. I wondered why they were in an art school if they didn't like art.

"Will you please just get to what we have to sketch?!?!" everyone yelled out impatiently.

"Okay okay. You get to draw whatever you want, but you have to turn in s sketch before hand and it has to be important to you. You also have to explain why it is important to you." he finally finished explaining the project.

~Time skip to the end of class~ (Still Natsu's P.O.V)

I stayed a while after class, so I could talk to Mr.Clive about the project. "Umm....Mr.C-Clive sir can I a-ask you a question?" I asked anxiously.

"Sure Natsu. What is it?" he said calmly.

"W-well uhh....y-you see I don't have a-anything i-important to m-me. S-so what am I s-supposed to d-draw?" I said trying not to sound like a loser, but I was obviously failing.

"Haha!! Everyone has something that's important to them." Mr.Clive laughed as if I made the funniest joke ever.

"B-but sir I don't h-have anything important to me. I n-never have and p-probably never will."

"Oh. Umm....well I will give you an extension on the project if you don't find a thing important to you by the due date, but that doesn't mean you can't do the assignment." he said sternly yet compassionately.

"O-okay sir!! T-thank you sir! I won't let you down!!" I said with determination.

"I know you won't and stop with the sir thing, it makes me feel old. Call me Gildarts."

"Okay si-I mean Gildarts. Thank y-you again. I'll be g-going now." I replied as I was running out the door.

I'm so glad I got that over with because that was nerve racking and I had a couple of minutes to get to my next class which was painting.

~Time skip to the end of school~

Lucy's P.O.V
I packed up my things after class and went outside the door waiting for Nastu because he had to talk to the teacher about something. I don't know what it is and I didn't ask.

Natsu and I were going to walk to the cafe together to meet the rest of my and hopefully his friends. I'm sure they will love him despite what he thinks.

I was deep in thought that I barely noticed Natsu walk out of the room.
"O-okay I'm ready to go. Sorry for making you wait." Natsu said shyly.

"It's fine Natsu, I'm sure you had to talk to him about something important, so I didn't mind waiting."

"T-thank you. Umm...shall we g-get going?" he said gesturing for me to walk. I just nodded my and started to walk when I decided to ask him a question.

"Natsu?"

"Y-yes." he sounded surprised that I started to talk.

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Uhh....yeah sure."

"What are you doing for your sketching project? You don't have to answer if you don't want to." I asked adding in the last part quickly.

"Umm...it's okay I'll answer it. I'm n-not sure what I'm doing yet, do mind telling me w-what you are doing?"

"Well, I have two ideas in mind. I'm either going to sketch my mother or my friends. Would you mind helping me chose?" I asked happily with a hint of frustration.

"S-sure. I t-think you should pick your m-mother."

"Why? She's going to die soon anyways." it came out before I even realized I had said it.

"W-well that's the r-reason you should pick her. She w-will be g-gone someday a-and you will look at that p-picture and remember the t-time you spent t-together." Natsu said while slightly shaking.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say that, but thank you for helping me make up my mind." I said trying to fight the tears.

"You don't have to say sorry and y-you're welcome." Natsu said. I looked forward and stopes talking until the cafe came into view.

"Look we are almost at the cafe!! Everyone is waiting for us." I yelled taking his hand and running to the cafe.

Once we got there I opened the door and we went inside. I heard someone yell "Hey look everyone Lucy finally got herself a boyfriend!!" Then everyone started to laugh and Natsu and I just turned red.

"He's not my boyfriend!! He just so happens to be a boy that is my friend!" I screamed with my cheeks still red while I pouted.

"So that means you don't want him as your boyfriend." someone else yelled.

"I didn't say that!"

"Oh so you want him to be your boyfriend." Mira said as she smirked.

"You know what? Let's just stop talking about me. I want you some of you to meet Natsu because you didn't yesterday, so Natsu come and meet everyone!"

"O-okay." Natsu said not liking the attention that he was getting.

"Meet Wendy the little girl with pigtails, Romeo the boy next to Wendy, Elfman the big buff man, Laxus the guy who doesn't put on his coat, Jellal the dude with the tattoo on his face, Cana, the girl drinking booze and I think that's it." I said as I was trying to make sure I didn't forget anyone.

"I-it's nice to m-meet all of you." Nastu said while giving small smile.

"It's nice to meet you too Natsu-San!" Wendy said giving him a big smile.

"You look cool Natsu!! Can I call you Nastu-nii?!?" Romeo asked with so much excitement.

"Uh...s-sure! I don't have a-any siblings, so that would be n-nice." Natsu said smiling at Romeo's question.

"You're a man!!" Elfman yelled making Natsu jump.

"Elfman chill out, you almost made this guy piss his pants." Laxus said while patting Natsu on the shoulder.

"Guys be nice to him. I apologize for their rude behavior, but once you get to know them you get used to it." said Jellal trying to make sure Natsu was okay.

"Hey pinkie *hic* you want some *hic* beer?" Cana asked while pointing at him and Natsu looked confused.

"Your hair is pink remember." I whispered to him.

"Oh right. Ughh....no t-thank you." Natsu said answering Cana.

Narrator's P.O.V
The rest of the night Natsu got more comfortable with them and started to feel like part of the group.

He wasn't stuttering as much as before and he had Lucy to thank for all of this.

Lucy was glad that Natsu was getting more comfortable and making friends, but she was really thinking of a plan to make Lisanna and Natsu closer. Her heart ached when she thought about this and she didn't know why, but she would go through with the plan.

Later that night while Nastu was at home, he was thinking about what to do for his art project, when he suddenly thought of the perfect thing to draw.

He's going to draw............................... LUCY!!!

Authors' Note:

I am so so so so so so sorry that I haven't updated in a very long time and most of it was because I was lazy.

I was also catching a lot of Pokemon and that game is addictive.

I have a whole bunch of ideas for the story and I know how I want to end it, but there is also a lot more stuff I want to add in, so don't worry the story will not end for a while and when it does come to an end I will be publishing another story. That one will be on the short side and I think I will do another one after that.

Again I am really sorry that I didn't update when I said I was and I will try harder to update frequently.
