chapter 2
On the same day, Monet was in the gym doing the punching bag to teach the boxer whether she could fight back someday; she took a break to sit on the bench, grabbing the water bottle to sip it during her break for several minutes.
She goes to the bathroom to check up on her face; she worries about what's going on in her past if she remembers since she and her two sons got involved in breaking home by the thugs. She called the police to catch the suspects for the next few days until they got arrested. They'd been moving to another house in a safe place without happening ever since. She continues to do punching bags so she can do whatever it takes.
The next day, Blake enters any restaurant where he can give the waitress money to refresh, whether he takes care of the restaurant with employees or starts everything new, from the cashier to others. The manager appreciated Blake for how they earned with him; he told the manager to get any products with the restaurant ideas, and he is most likely to still take care of the town.
Velma and Latrelle hung out at the park right in front of the baseball field; they sat on the bleachers, Velma ate ice cream, and Latrelle watched the kids practice baseball alongside the coach.
Latrelle: I've got to be honest; what are you supposed to do when you keep it rich in everything?
Velma: Getting the mansion, car, lovely jewelry, and...that's it. I hope my place will be better, something new.
Latrelle: This shit took you a little longer.
Velma: It is. I swear I could go to the mansion right now. These assholes are on the street and cannot play with our town.
Latrelle: That means which is different.
Velma: *hearing*
Latrelle: You were still cooling yourselves after we first met after I moved in.
Velma: Black people kept supporting this street. They ain't leaving this place.
Latrelle: I set foot in this city and just walked down the street.
Velma: *kept sucking ice cream* Mmm, this one is good.
Latrelle: *looks at her*
Velma: I bet I could eat it all now. *keeps going*
Later that night, Shia, Monet, and Xavier hang out in the casino, walking around the room while confronting each other. They walked over to each person who was watching them playing the dealers.
Xavier: *watching them with the chip and cards together*
Monet: Xavier, do you know how to play?
Xavier: A little bit. I have to learn a little more about it.
Monet: I'm working down there, remember?
Xavier: I know.
Monet: Maybe I could teach you one day when you get off your chest.
Xavier: I've got something else to do.
Monet: *hearing and looking around* Where's Shia?
Xavier: Probably in the bathroom, some shit.
When the group of people hurried up while the other two noticed what was going on, Xavier and Monet followed them and saw the black women getting involved with Shia until both of them were about to break them up.
Xavier, Monet, and Shia: *leaving the casino*
Xavier: Are you lost your damn mind?!
Shia: She was bumping up to me. I didn't mean to start this shit; she must be having a problem with the craziness.
Monet: You shouldn't call her bitch like that.
Shia: *hearing*
Xavier: Now you fucked up tonight. You would have to calm down, man.
Shia: How am I supposed to fucking calm down, huh? Ugly ass lady saying about my family she deserves nothing else.
Xavier: *hearing*
Monet: Cool off; I'll drop you off first.
Shia: *keeps walking with them*
The next day in high school, Kimi and Jayce are chilling in the cafeteria for the lunch break; Kimi is going through her phone while Jayce eats lunch. When he thinks about what he would do with her, he thinks of going bowling.
Jayce: I know you would do something tomorrow; I thought we could go bowling tomorrow night.
Kimi: Yeah, yeah, I can come.
Jayce: Are you sure about that?
Kimi: By tomorrow, I will have nothing else to do. I will take care of my family, and that's it. I love to play bowling.
Jayce: I had to ask my mom 'cause she is going too.
Kimi: Your mom?
Jayce: Yeah, if you don't have to. My parents and I are complicated against each other. Tomorrow, I had to see the counselor after school.
Kimi: Because it is your family issue?
Jayce: I need something new; I need something different, Kimi. It takes one nailed. I can be a better man after I have taken away all of this trouble from the past; I've been running from the streets with my mom and brother. I wouldn't make myself suffer.
Kimi: Go ahead and talk to the counselor and tell about your story. Your story will be heard before Claudia can say to you.
Jayce: *hearing*
Kimi: You can tell.
*Police station*
Monet: *drinking the coffee and sees Shia storm out of the door* What's wrong, boy?
Shia: I got fired.
Monet: What?
Shia: Someone just posted a video saying about me. I was getting involved with the lady in the casino last night. I didn't fight over her; I pushed her once.
Monet: Now you messed up already.
Shia: I can't even confess this for a while. I wouldn't have known when the video showed people watching the views for almost 3,000. That's...that's some bullshit. *walks away*
Monet: *tried to confront with him back*
Shia: *keeps walking away*
Flaco and Zoe are heading to Cleveland, Ohio, with Voodoo. After Voodoo tells her mom, Monet, he'll be careful about it, the three of them chill in the car on the way.
Voodoo: *watching Flaco and Zoe smoking at each other*
Flaco: *kept driving* What's up, Voodoo, you wanna smoke this joint?
Voodoo: I bet I do. *grabs it* What's up with the Cleveland?
Flaco: Time to make our shine, hang out, and put some more work in this place. I wondered if we could meet another person to join our crew to get to know each other and their similarities.
Zoe: I don't think it's gonna work, Flaco.
Flaco: Yes, it does.
Zoe: No, it's not.
Flaco: Keep it in mind.
Voodoo: *still smoking* I hope I can get a girlfriend I've got.
Flaco: Don't worry about that, discuss this shit later.
Zoe: If I win the jackpot on our things, I'm going to store up and face it, scratching these idiot cards the way I have after I paid for the lottery games. I wouldn't rush it.
Flaco: I WOULDN'T PAY THAT MUCH FOR THE LOTTERY! I CAN'T WIN!
Voodoo: You're yelling too much; damn, what the hell is wrong with you? Yelling at your girlfriend!
Flaco: *laughs a bit*
Zoe: For godsaken.
Meanwhile, Kidney is still dancing alone in the studio while she has free time because she has decided to do her own moves. She remembered the moves she took back in high school. After all, she learned from them alongside the other students because she is a leader.
Jayce went to the guidance counselor after school when he was preparing and entered it until Claudia was waiting and saw him come in; he dropped the bag and sat on the couch.
*Jayce and Claudia*
Claudia: Your name is Jayce Goode. You're in junior year. What brings you here to discuss this today?
Jayce: I'm drained. Who am I standing up for myself to get involved in the bad journey? I was trying to do better cause I was broke, so it's my parents too. I would try to help them, but I cannot deal with this asshole. I can't push my button to take advantage. What should I do: pick up with that litter or a whole school-turning lunatic for this? I admired everybody now; the only thing I could see was everyone enjoying and doing the same thing; going around the entire circle was very strange to me. Who wanna know how to push the limit and how to figure it out to get myself back on the same page, including my family? Last time, I took off or skipped class in school.
Claudia: Why are you skipping class?
Jayce: Maybe it's true. I loved skipping class. Because do you know why? I was afraid. One day, maybe it was a school lockdown coming into this school, or any reason that I could jump into these people right through the streets out in public. I've already beaten anyone twice. I've always been in trouble, except for my brother. He did good, but I ain't. Sometimes I felt this shit was real. When I opened my eyes to get off my bed, I thought of the same person; I wouldn't have ended up on the street to get killed or commit suicide, including in this school. I see somebody stabbed one of the high school students in the middle of the night. You can teach me whatever you want, snowflake.
Claudia: A lot of black people call snowflakes white people, and I understand what you are using the word that is fine. Whether you liked it or not, you don't want me, or like me, that was a good speech to tell your past. I'm here for you; if there's anything I can help, I can count on you.
Jayce: *hearing*
