(Hope Diamond)
We have decided to move to a different spot in this forest. Or even world! I don't really know where we're going, but as long as I'm going with Beryl I'm fine. We pack up all our food supplies, and as I'm ready to carry then Beryl puts the food in his gem.
"How-what was that?"
"Well, it's a trick I learned with the others. I have a little pantry inside of my gem where I can take out and store food. Wait I can take out food."
I let out a small laugh and continue walking. I try to keep my normal face on, but there's one sentence that keeps bugging me. It's a trick I learned with the others. What others? Why didn't he tell me there were other gems out there living with him? Did he ever love any of those gems? Of course, I think, Beryllium has lived far longer than I have, it doesn't matter now he loves you.
We walk until the sun goes down. Then I create a tent with the help of Hope Diamond. Then we go outside the tent and look at the stars. I think it's a tradition now, looking at the stars till we feel tired. We can speak any thoughts that come into our minds and the other gem will listen without judgment. Diamond is resting her head on my shoulder and my hand is holding her hand. We sit outside for a long time, telling each other stories and jokes. But Hope seems go let out laughs that seem more forced than usual. I'll talk about it tomorrow, I don't think she wants to tell me what's bothering her yet. Diamond's breathing slows and I can tell she fell asleep on me again. She's so cute and calm like this. I pick her up bridal style and take her into the tent.
I wake up with Beryllium's arm wrapped protectively around me. I blush and gently get up without waking him. Outside the sky is almost done with the sunrise and dew is still fresh on the grass and flowers. I decide to climb a pine tree and I sit on a branch. It's so beautiful and peaceful; nothing like what I grew up hearing. I grew up with the sounds of knives clanging together, battle cries, and the terrifying sound of gems being broken by the opponent's hand. The memories fade and I try to focus on the beautiful scene in front of me.
I see that Hope Diamond knows how to climb. I get to the pine tree and climb the branches until I'm next to her. My hand rests upon hers and I can see her blush.
"Whatcha doing up here?" I ask her.
"Oh nothing, just waiting for you to get up. Are we going to continue going where you wanted to take me?"
"Yes! You're going to love the place Hope Diamond, it's wonderful," Diamond and I climb down the tree, pack up the tent and start walking again. We are having such a fun time I almost don't notice that she is still having the problem from last night. Then I here it. A low growl. What's making the noise? I pull out my weapon and stop waiting for the creature to show itself. Diamond heard it too, but she can't pull out her gem weapon yet. A poisoned spear hits her in the back.
I gasp in pain and fall. Everything is in slow motion, Beryllium's voice is slightly muffled but I can still here him call my name. I roll onto my stomach.
"Take..out...the spear. Don't...let it hurt...me more." I feel the spot where the spear was lodged into my back get pulled out and sharp pain shoots around me. I need to retreat into my gem, the poison has already started. I just hope that Beryl won't be traumatized. Just as he rolls me so I look up at him I lose my strength and retreat into my gem.
She went into her gem. I hold her gingerly and put her in the pocket where I keep gems and gem shards for the temple's flower room. I make sure it pack is extra secured and I look for the monster. A corrupted gem with poison spikes jumps out and I immediately defeat it. No one hurts Hope Diamond. I quickly bubble the gem and continue running now to a spot that's clear. I take out my communication device and signal a friend I haven't seen in a while. A couple minutes later a gem shape-shifted into a helicopter lands next to me. Agate steps out.
"Long time no see, what has it been, a couple hundred years now? And you're a guy."
"Nice to see you too Agate, but I need your help. I'm rejoining the New Beginnings."
"What made you decide that?"
"I'll explain on the way, let's just go to the temple,"
When we reach the temple I've told Agate the whole entire story and I get out of the plane. As I walk across the training room to the temple's interior new gems I've never seen train here whisper as we walk pass. Then around the main room I see Citrine, Iolite, and Sphalerite.
"Everyone, here's Beryl-"
"Beryl you came back!" Citrine says and runs to hug me. I politely shrug her off and take out the Hope Diamond.
"Yes, and he needs help, his gem friend got hit with a poisoned spear and it almost hit her gem. She could have some weird side effects, so we must be supportive no matter what,"
"You're saying that like Beryl likes...this Diamond." Citrine says with realization. Her face becomes expressionless.
"Beryl I recommend while you wait you can regain your position and meet the new gems,"
Everyone nods and goes back to what they're doing. I see Citrine's eyes brim with tears and she runs to her room. Guilt swarms around me. I never wanted to hurt her, but I always saw her as a family member; not a lover. I walk outside and go meet the new gems, wondering how I will solve this mess.
Three weeks later...
It has been a long time since I've seen Diamond, I'm really worried about her. What if she unexpectedly shatters because of the poison? I cradle her in my hands wondering these things. Citrine started to hang out with me again, but I can tell that I hurt her bad. She isn't as energetic as before, just plastered happiness. Suddenly Diamond's gem glows with light and lifts into the air.
"Guys! She's reforming!" I shout and everyone in the room looks. A shape of Hope Diamond forms, but right as she's about to finish she glitches and a dress forms instead of jeans. When she lands she looks dazed.
"Where am I?" I ask,
"You're in the temple. Do you like it?"
"It's cool! Who are you again?"
"Beryl? Sometimes you call me Beryllium? You do remember me, don't you?"
"I have no idea who you are; sorry."
"Do you remember anything? How you were abused by the other soldiers, how we met, and how I took you away from the misery?"
"I don't remember anything."
I'm on the brink of tears now and I hold onto her arms.
"All those stories we told each other, the jokes, when you saw fireflies for the first time? Please you have to remember!" Agate holds onto my shoulders.
"Beryl, that's enough you don't want to scare her," I try to pull him away.
"No! She can't forget! Please,"
"Beryl. The poison affected her memory, we will try to fix her, but-"
"Leave me alone; please. I can't bare to see Hope Diamond like this." Agate lets go of me and I walk into my room. Inside I crawl up onto my bed and silently cry.
