"YOU SURE?" JONATHAN reiterates, earning a soft groan from the girl laying on the beach blanket adjacent to him. "You know I hate to leave you all alone, but my neck's killing me, Addie." His face morphed into unpleasantness as he points to his neck.

"You're acting as if I'm holding you at gunpoint to force you to stay with me." Adelaide stifled a laugh, sitting up. "I'll be fine." She draws out the word and grabbed her phone which was placed under her coverup.

Jonathan hums in response. "Where's lover boy anyway?"

"Who?" She flashed him an innocent smile.

"You know... Drew." He wiggles his brows. "Where is he?"

"I dunno. He's probably with Austin." Adelaide shrugged. "I haven't talked to him since our walk this morning." She murmurs.

"Huh, I could've sworn I saw him at the store earlier." Jonathan replied before standing up. "Anyways, I'll see you later, okay? Dinner's at our suite."

With a small wave, Adelaide bid him goodbye and brought her attention back to her phone where her notification center was displayed. Still no texts or calls from Drew. A small sigh escapes her lips before she locked her phone and tossed it in her bag.

Madison had dipped in the water prior to her conversation with Jonathan while he went back to the hotel to take a power nap. Adelaide had no idea where the others were but she spotted her sister and Rudy by the bar just a few minutes ago.

It was pretty obvious that they were smitten with each other. Althought it seems as if neither of them had the balls to own it up. Adelaide could practically sense their feelings for one other but she knew Analiese and she was never one to make the first move.

The mere thought of their complicated love story had her thinking of her blossoming friendship with Drew. Adelaide did not want to assume but ever since the bathroom incident, she could not help but feel the growing emotional connection between them. It was like the more time she spent with him, the more her feelings grew.

It had been almost four months since they broke up. Adelaide was yet to forgive and forget what he did but... the pain he caused her was just too much to easily disregard.

Admittedly, she knew it was a little overdramatic of her to not forgive him given that what he did was kind of reasonable. But no matter how hard she tries to erase it out of her mind, it just felt as if it was engraved into her memories.

Adelaide was far too deep in her thoughts that she hadn't notice someone settling down on the space beside her. She looks up and immediately shut her eyes close as the sunlight blazed down on her.

"Hey." She hears the familiar voice she looked forward to hearing and smiled involuntarily. Her vision finally cleared up from the cloud of darkness caused by the sun, and sure enough, Drew had sat comfortably next to her with a toothy grin on his face.

"Drew!" She exclaims, surprised by his presence.

"Hi, I'm sorry I took so long." He apologized. "I had to take care of some... work stuff." He scratches the indistinct stubble on his chin before placing the same hand on Adelaide's thigh.

Adelaide's stomach churns. "I-Is everything alright?" She tries to ignore the funny feeling in her stomach as Drew bgan to rub her thigh lightly.

"Yeah, everything's fine." Drew reassures. "In fact... everything's perfect."

"Really?" Adelaide beams. "How come?" She took a sip of her milkshake which had already melted due to the hot weather.

"I finally got rid of Vanessa."

Adelaide's brows furrows in confusion. "Vanessa? Your manager?" She was beyond perplexed at what he said.

"No, she's- she's my publicist." He affirms. "She wasn't too happy about my recent posts... of you and Amaya's publicist kept pestering her about our deal." He snorts.

Adelaide frowned at that, feeling a little self-conscious. "But... don't you need her, Drew?"

"Nah." He shook his head. "She's far too controlling. Plus, I don't want to be involved in another PR stunt. Not when I already have you."

Her stomach flutters. She still felt a slight hint of uncertainty about him and his feelings for her so she didn't bother to reply. Adelaide only smiled at him but she could not help the thoughts swarming in her mind.

He had me before, too, yet he still did it anyway.
