Chapter 5 Sweet Child O Mine

A/N: Don't hate me for putting a cover in the header instead of the original song, I wanted something softer than the Guns N Roses version for this chapter and Brent Morgan has the voice of a fucking Angel. Plus the violins are pretty.

weeks later

It was good to be home. Lyric felt a sense of peace as soon as she stepped foot in her house. Symphony instantly ran off to Quins room to play with him and Sarah threw her arms around her daughter.
"Welcome home!" She beamed.
"Thanks Mom." Lyric smiled. "It's good to be back. But I promise it won't be long, I'll get a job here and Sym and I will get our own place."
"Lyric there is no rush. You and Sym can stay for as long as you want." Darren said.
"Yeah, we finally got you back home. You aren't going anywhere yet." Sarah laughed. "And, since it is your first night back home, you get to pick dinner. Whatever you want."
"Ooo!" Lyric grinned. "Dads enchilada's. I need them." She said.
"You got it." Darren said and squeezed her shoulder.

Darren stood in the doorway to Quin and Symphony's room. Quin was out like a light, but much like his own daughter, Symphony fought sleep like it was going to kill her.
He smiled as Lyric sang softly to her daughter like he used to to her. She ran her hand over Symphony's face softly as she sang putting her to sleep.
"Little bitty pretty one." Darren whispered and walked over "I used to sing that to you."
"I know." Lyric smiled "Sym loves it too." She said and looked down at her sleeping child. "Do you think.. That since we are back in Storybrooke, I should tell Killian?.. I mean she asks questions sometimes. Most people around here think Will is her dad because that's what we've told them. But she doesn't know. Am I doing the right thing?" She asked.
Darren sighed.
"Thats a rough question, I understand not wanting to tell him, and you know your mother and I support you with whatever you decide to do."
"I know. I just..want to make sure I am doing right by her. She notices other kids her age at preschool have dads, but she doesn't. I'm just scared to let him get involved. What if he leaves her to? I can't put her through that." Lyric sighed.
"Why don't you sleep on it? If you want to tell him we will invite him over and he can meet her here, that way if it goes south, you and Sym are somewhere you feel comfortable, and I can punch him in the face." Darren smiled.
Lyric laughed quietly.
"Killian has turned you into a violent man."
"Not violent. Protective." Darren corrected. "Besides you are the one that nearly broke his nose."
"Yeah well, I am a healthy mix of you and mom." Lyric grinned and stood up walking out of the room with Darren following her as she headed towards her room
"You heading to bed too?" He asked.
"Oh yeah. I'm exhausted."
"Lyric its 8:30." Darren laughed.
"I know, its weird I'm just really tired. I've been this way a couple of days, Yesterday, I took two. Count them two, naps, and went to bed before midnight. I think its just stress." She shrugged.
"Possibly." Darren said and raised an eyebrow.
"What?" Lyric asked.
"Its just.. Your mother was like that when she was pregnant with you and then again with Quin."
"Dad. I'm not pregnant." Lyric rolled her eyes.
"Mmhmm." Darren said. "Sure."
"It was one time!" Lyric whined.
"A lot can happen with one time. You happened with one time." Darren shrugged.
"Right. You are crazy, I am going to bed." Lyric smirked. "See you in the morning?"
"Yep, I'm making breakfast in the morning.biscuits and gravy."
"Sounds good." Lyric said feeling a low rumble in her tummy.
"Really? Because.. You hate sausage gravy." Darren winked.
"No I don't." Lyric said and turned around walking to the kitchen instead.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm hungry. I'm getting left overs." Lyric said and opened the fridge pulling out the tray of left over enchilada's not even heating them just digging into them with a fork.
Darren just gave her a look.
Lyric groaned.
"Dad. Its just stress!"
"That's what you said last time, and then a week later... I got a phone call."
Sarah walked into the kitchen.
"Whats up."
"Lyric's not pregnant." Darren smiled.
"Wait.. again??" Sarah asked. Lyric picked up the tray of enchilada's carrying it down the hall with her.
"Not. Pregnant!" She grumbled.

-------------------------------------------------

Killian, and his fiance were out shopping and getting things for the house. Killian had tried several times to find a way to tell Anna about what happened in New York with Lyric, maybe it would be a clean break. Maybe he still had a chance to get her back, but he felt horrible. He did at one point love Anna, at least he thought he did, that's why he proposed, how was he supposed to tell her, that he didn't really love her? He kept telling himself he was waiting for the right moment, but he felt at this point they'd be at the altar before he confessed.
"You okay, baby?" Anna asked. Killian nodded.
"Yeah. Yeah." He said and gave her a somewhat convincing smile. Anna looked over his shoulder and frowned.
"What is it?" Killian asked.
"You didn't tell me your ex girlfriend was back in town.." She said bitterly. "You also failed to mention she has a kid."
"Wait.. what?" Killian asked and turned around. He didn't even know Lyric was back in town, of course why would he? She hadn't spoken to him since that night in New York. He watched Lyric push a shopping cart around handing a little girl, different items that she put in the cart. Who was this kid? Was she even Lyrics?
"I..didn't know she had a kid. Or that she moved back." Killian explained. "I haven't seen her in 4 years." he lied and then kicked himself mentally for deepening his web of lies.
"Kind of shitty of her to not tell you, you have a child." Anna shrugged.
"Wait a minute, we don't even know that, the kid is even Lyrics, let alone mine!" Killian exclaimed.
"Look at her Killy, she's got your eyes. Your dark hair."
"Lyric has dark hair and blue eyes too." Killian shrugged.
"She looks about 4 years old, AND she has your cute little elf ears.." Anna smirked and poked his ears.
"Stop that" Killian grumbled.
"Why don't we go say hi?" Anna asked.
"Wait.. Anna No." Killian started but Anna was already walking that way.
This woman is trying to bloody kill me..

Lyric looked up at the blonde woman walking over to her with a nervous as hell Killian in tow. Lyric felt herself tense. She knew she shouldn't have brought Sym with her, but Sym was crying to go and Lyric hated to leave her crying.
"Hi! Lyric?" The woman asked.
"Uh.. yes?" Lyric said. The blonde extended her hand.
"I'm Anna, I've heard so much about you from my fiance." Anna said in a sickenly sweet tone as she tugged Killian forward. Lyric already hated this woman.
"Hey.. Lyric. Long time no see.." Killian said nervously.
"Yeah. 4 weeks, super long." Lyric said.
"4 weeks? You mean... years." Anna said.
"No, Killian played at the bar I worked at in New York a few weeks ago." Lyric explained. Anna glared at Killian.
"Oh! Right, My mistake, I forgot I saw you." Killian shrugged trying to make it seem like the woman he loved standing right in front of him and his fiance was no big deal.
"Right." Lyric said.
"Mommy who are they?" Symphony asked from the cart.
"Mommy?" Killian asked and raised an eyebrow. Lyric looked into his eyes that were starting to turn angry.
"Hello, love, sorry I'm late." Will said coming up behind Lyric and wrapping his arms around her waist kissing her on the cheek.
Where the hell did he come from? No! It doesn't matter this works. Lyric thought. Symphony's eyes lit up and she stood in the shopping cart extending her arms to Will. She was close with Will, will came to visit often in New York and Sym loved him. "Ah! Theres my girl." Will said and lifted Symphony out of the cart. Killian narrowed his eyes skeptically, there was no way in hell that kids was Will's. She looked nothing like him. She looked exactly what Killian would have imagined his kid with Lyric would look.
"Can I talk to you?" Killian asked Lyric.
"I"m actually busy." Lyric shrugged.
"Oh, I think you can make time, it has been four years I'll go finish up the shopping and give you two a minute to chat." Anna said looking at Lyric with a challenging look before walking off.
"Shes a peach." Lyric snorted.
"Well, she hasn't hid a child from me for four years..so thats a plus." Killian scoffed and crossed his arms.
"Nothing to hide mate." Will said in a protective tone. Lyric did not want to argue about this in front of Sym. She looked back at Will.
"I'll be right back." She said and handed will her Wallet. "Go to the deli and get her some lunch?"
"Will do. Come on you." Will said and smiled at Symphony and carried her off.
"Care to explain?" Killian asked.
"I owe you nothing." Lyric hissed. "You left me a fucking mess. Will picked up the pieces. She's his." Lyric lied.
"That is bullshit, how bloody stupid do you think I am, she looks just like me Lyric!" Killian spat.
"You. Left me." Lyric said again.
"The second you found out you were pregnant you should have called me! I would have come back."
"Oh. So glad that would have changed your mind. Until the next best thing came along that is."
"So she is mine?" Killian asked. Lyric just looked away.
"God Damn it Lyric how could you do this? How could you keep her from me?"
"Because I didn't want you to come in with your fucking half assed promises, her get attached and then you leave her too. I will NOT let you hurt her the way you hurt me."
"I never wanted to hurt you! And I would have never hurt her! Thats my child Lyric!"
"She is MY child. MINE." Lyric snapped.
"I want to be in her life."
"I don't know that I want you in it."
"You can't just do that!" Killian said.
"I can." Lyric shrugged.
"Please. Lyric just give me a chance." Killian begged.
"Were you even going to tell Anna what happened in New York?" Lyric asked.
"Yes. I just haven't.. Figured out how." Killian sighed. "Please Lyric.. I want to know my daughter. Don't make me get a lawyer."
The last thing Lyric wanted was Symphony in the middle of a custody battle in court. Lyric knew she would win, Her grandfather may not have been her biggest fan and she wasn't his, but he was a damn good lawyer and he would have fought for her but it wasn't worth the stress it would put on Symphony.
"Fine. You can see her. You can come to my house, without Anna. Not until I trust her a little more and you don't say shit about being her father until I decide she is ready to know." Lyric hissed.
"Fair enough." Killian nodded. "I'll come by tomorrow afternoon."
"Fine." Lyric said and started walking away.
"Wait." Killian said. Lyric turned.
"What?"
"What is her name?" Killian asked.
"Its Symphony." She said and walked away from him.
Killian smiled. Symphony.

Lyric walked to the deli where Will was sitting at a small table with Symphony sharing some mac and cheese from the deli.
"So.." Will said.
"He knows." Lyric sighed.
"Maybe its for the best?" Will asked.
"I don't know. He threatened to get a lawyer and I didn't want her mixed up in that."
"What a dick.." Will sighed. "You okay?"
"Yeah. I will be. Feels a little better now that the truth is out."
"Well, one truth." Will said.
"What are you talking about?" Lyric asked. Will stood up and plucked a pregnancy test out of the shopping card.
"Lyric you got some 'splainin' to do." He smirked.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Lyric had locked herself in the bathroom and she had been in there for at least an hour. The pregnancy test only took two minutes, but she was terrified to look at it every time she went to pick it up she had a mini panic attack. She couldn't do this. Not again.. Not with him. He was with Anna, and although she was a bitch and Lyric hated her, she didn't want to destroy their relationship and hell, Killian deserved that Nag at his side for the rest of his life anyways.
"Lyric honey are you ever coming out of there?" Darren asked.
"Yeah. Just a minute Dad." Lyric sighed and picked up the pregnancy test from the counter. She took a deep breath and turned it over.
God damn you Killian you potent son of a bitch..
