Chapter 7
(Unedited, so sorry for any errors).

Allison's POV

"Thank you, Mr. Davidson. Good bye," I hung up the phone and checked off his name. Right now, James had me speaking to almost everyone of his business friends about this special dinner party. I didn't even know who was hosting it or what it was about. All James gave me was a list of names and the questions to ask.

"So....how are things with you and Ryan? I saw that he brought you lunch yesterday." Sally mentioned casually as she walked up to my desk and handed me my copies.

I took the copies and looked for the Davidson sheet. "Sally nothing has happened between Ryan and I besides lunch." I answered.

"But you want something to happen. Don't you?" She asked me, teasingly. I looked up from my computer and gave her the 'stop of I'll bite you look.'

Sally held her hands up in surrender,"Okay okay. Damn, enough with the look. I won't mention Mr. Ryan Phillips ever again."

"Thank you," I said, relieved.

"For now at least." Sally added with a smirk,"Anyways, do you want to go out for lunch? I know this cute little italian place."

"Ye--" before I could finish saying yes, I was interrupted by a familiarly strong husky voice.

"Miss Green are you ready to go?" James casually asked me when he reached my desk. I turned away from Sally to look at James in confusion. What was he talking about? Where were we going?

James chuckled while I stared at him  baffled by his great mood. I glanced at Sally and saw she had the same expression on her face, confusion. Why was James in a good mood?

"Are you ready to go to lunch with me?" He paused, waiting for me to answer but continued once he realized I wasn't following," remember yesterday when I told Lucas you were accompanying me to lunch for the rest of the week and I meant it," James finished explaining to me.

"Oh yeah! I'm sorry I remember, it's just that I didn't think you meant it. I was just planning to go to lunch with Sally at this italian place," I said to him.

I couldn't say I didn't want to go to lunch with James because I did. It's just the fact that when I'm around him I feel nervous and self conscious. My heart races and my palms become sweaty. I make more mistakes and I can't think. I also check myself in the mirror more often and ask Camilla to help me get ready. It's almost like I'm not myself.

"No, I insist, Miss Green. I told Lucas that I will take you out and I will not be known as a liar. Let's go," James states, a little more irritated by my denial.

"It's fine really. I'll be okay and plus, I don't want to cause you any trouble. I tried to brush him off gently. But from the expression on his face, I saw that I was only making him agitated.

James brought his fingers up to his head and slowly massaged his temples. He took a deep breath," Miss Green, grab your purse! As my personal assistant it is your job to come with me wherever I go. Now I want you to accompany me to lunch, right now. Let's go!" James demanded angrily.

"Okay, okay," I mumbled, reaching under my desk for my purse. I quickly stood up and tucked in my chair before walking over to an anxious James.

"Finally. I have reservations for us at my friends restaurant, called "La Luna's. If we don't leave now, then we will miss them. Come on." James placed his hand on the small of my back led me away to the elevators

I looked back at Sally, who was laughing quietly, and mouthed 'Good bye and sorry.'

After a very long and awkward car ride, we arrived at the familiarly cute restaurant, 'La Luna's.' James got out of the car and when I reached for the door handle, the door opened and James stood there, grinning.

"Thank you," I told him with a small smile. My grip on my purse tightened as he placed his hand on my back for the second time today. A few minutes later, we walked into the restaurant and James again, held the door open for us.

"Hello and welcome to La Luna's cafe. How many?" The young waitress asked and looked up from the black podium. I immediately recognized her as Victoria, one of Camilla's friends.

"Oh hey James! Where's Samuel? I'm surprised he didn't come with you for lunch." She asked with a shy smile and a small tint of pink on her cheeks.

James chuckled," Don't worry, Victoria. Samuel is at the office, today. He doesn't even know I'm here so please don't tell him."

"I'm glad he's okay," Victoria stated, seeming a little disappointed at the end,"And I won't tell him. But anyways you came with..."

My eyes met with Victoria's and a smile grew on her face. "Oh hey Allison," She greeted me, a little confused on why I was here.

"Hey Victoria. Is Camilla here today?" I asked the kind waitress nervously. If Camilla found out that I didn't tell her about the whole Lucas and James situation yesterday, then she would most likely not talk to me because we had a rule to always tell each other boy drama or any kind of drama.

"Yeah. She's over there arguing with some police officer. The one that comes in here a lot." Victoria pointed to the other side of the cafe, where I saw Camilla and Daniel bickering furiously at a table near the window.

I mentally cursed, 'Not Daniel too!'

"Now why don't I get you both your reserved table?" Victoria asked,
breaking me from my internal struggle.

"That would be great," James answered quickly. Victoria led us down the aisle to a table in the back, closer to the quieter part of the cafe.

James pulled out one of the chairs and motioned for me to take a seat. I thanked him quietly with a shy smile and took a seat. He pushed my chair  in before taking his own seat on the other side of the dinner table.

"Here are your menus and your server will be with you in just a few minutes," Victoria handed us our menus and walked back to her  podium.

After Victoria left, there was a small moment of awkward silence until I got the courage and decided to break it. "So how do you know Victoria?" I asked, opening my menu.

James followed my action and cleared his throat, "I met her a year ago on a coffee run with Samuel when she just started working here."

"Speaking of Samuel. What's going on between them?"

"Well Victoria and Samuel have this sort of thing going on. They both are head over heels in love with each other but they don't realize it. Samuel is so in love with her that he comes here almost every morning to see her with or without me," James explained to me.

"Why aren't they together than?" For some reason, Samuel's cute love romance with the pretty waitress interested me. Their love story almost seemed like something in the movies.

"Samuel is too shy to ask Victoria because he says she's way out of his league even though I told him she likes him maybe even love," James revealed nonchalantly.

I looked back at Victoria to see her welcoming a small family,"She deserves to be happy along with Samuel."

"I agree." James stated with a rare smile, "But anyways, have you found anything you like?"

I nodded, putting down my menu. "I come here so often because of Camilla that I already know my order by heart and half the menu."

"Wow. I only come here in the mornings with Samuel and sometimes Adrian. What do you recommend?" James questioned, his bright blue eyes fixated on me.

"I would recommend --"

"Hi, I'm sorry about the delay. I was dealing with another customer. Anyways, my name is Camilla and I will be your waitress this..... Allison?"

"Hey Cam..." I gave my best friend an awkward smile. Camilla looked at me in disbelief but was soon replaced with anger when she saw who I was with.

Camilla bent over next to me as she pretended to pick something up. "You better have a good explanation for this when we get home!" Camilla whispered sharply.

I nodded in understanding, "I'll explain later."

She stood up straight with a pleased look on her face and brightly smiled, "What can I get you both?"

"I'll take my regular order with a lemonade," I told her and watched as she wrote down my order on her notepad.

"And you, sir?"

"I will have the steak and the loaded back potato along with a coke. Also please butterfly and have the steak be well done." James answered and Camilla nodded.

We handed her our menus and she announced, "I will be back with your drinks."

I grabbed Camilla's wrist before she could leave and whispered into her ear, "Make sure that Daniel doesn't see me. You know how he is."

Camilla tries to hid her chuckle but fails miserably. "I'll distract him if he does." She whispered back and left to the kitchen.

I played with my heart shaped ring to try to distract myself from the silence when James spoke," Miss Green, why don't you tell me a little bit more about yourself?"

"Well first, like I said before, please call me Allison and anyways, what do you want to know?" I asked, placing my hands on my lap.

"Tell me about your family and friends. Then in return I'll tell you about mine. Deal?"

I nodded my head and began," My family consists of my dad who works as a doctor, my older brother Daniel who is a police officer, and myself. Then my best friends are Camilla who is in law school right now and Victoria who lives in California right now for family reasons."

"I'm guessing our waitress is your best friend?" James asked appearing unsure," what about your mother? You didn't mention her?"

"My mom isn't in the picture. She left  my family and I a long time ago." I stared out the window, avoiding any more questions about my mother.

"I'm so sorry." Those were the words I hated hearing ever time the subject of my mother came up. I didn't want anyone's sympathy and I certainly didn't want to talk about it.

"It's fine," I assured him with a forgiving smile. "Now that's enough about me. Tell me about your family. The only member I know is Adrian."

"Okay well I am one of four boys. There's me, Adrian, Michael and Matthew who are twins. My parents are Angelo and Isabella De Luca. The last member of our family and the youngest is Adrian's daughter, Olivia." He explained, smiling when he said his niece's name.

"How old are the twins and Olivia?"

"They are both fifteen and soon turning sixteen next month. Olivia is only about three years old."

"You seemed to love talking about your niece. You get a certain smile on your face.Tell me about her," I told him, then realizing how demanding I seemed. "You know only if you want to. I don't want to pressure you."

"Allison, it's alright. My niece does play a big part in my life. I'm actually her Godfather and I always give her all my attention especially since her mother---."

"Hey guys! I brought you your drinks. One coke with ice and one lemonade with ice." Camilla interrupted, placing the drinks in front of us and pulling out straws from her apron. "Your food will be up in just a few minutes."

As I was about to take a sip of my lemonade, Camilla hit me on the arm and whispered,"Psst! Allison!"

I gave a chuckling James a smile before looking up at my impatient best friend. "Daniel spotted you a couple minutes ago and believe me he was not happy. He wanted to come over here but I managed to calm him down with a little blackmail. Your welcome," Camilla informed me quietly and left towards the kitchen with a smug look on her.

My heart stopped and I cautiously turned around in my seat to see my brother sitting down on the other side of the cafe, sipping his usual black coffee and most likely reading police reports on his phone. Daniel noticed me staring and gave me a wink. I quickly turn back to James, avoiding anymore contact with my older brother.

I couldn't believe Camilla had detained Daniel from coming over here. Daniel has always been very overprotective of me and who I go out with. Even though I was just having lunch with my boss, I know Daniel would have still gone over here. What did Camilla say to my brother?

"Is everything alright, Miss Green? You seem a little jumpy," James stated worriedly.

I shook my head," The only thing wrong is you calling me Miss Green after I told you to call me Allison."

James laughed causing me to chuckle. "I'm deeply sorry. I promise I will make sure to call you Allison as along as you call me James instead of Sir or Mr. De Luca."

"Deal." I held out my hand to him, signaling a deal and he grabbed it. We shook hands for a few seconds before letting each other go. A comfortable and pleasant silence took over, leaving us to smile at each other.

Third Person POV

Meanwhile Allison and James enjoyed each other's company, another couple was watching them from afar......

Camilla and Daniel sat next to each other rather closely as they stared at their best friend/sister slowly start to fall in love. Daniel couldn't believe how grown up she was and Camilla couldn't help but feel jealous of her.

Allison never really cared about finding love and she found it without even trying. Camilla had wanted it, searched for it and had yet to find it. While she stared at her best friend and James in envy, Daniel glanced at his sister's best friend with one thought in his head. 'Why is she so beautiful?'

Both, Camilla and Daniel, didn't realize how close their hands were to one another or how close they were to uniting as one.......
