Working Together

Jimmy's Perspective-

"We're waiting on another kid. Think his name's Eleanor or something."

Jimmy nodded and then a boy with strawberry blonde hair walked in.

"There he is!" Cleo smiled.

Jimmy turned around and his jaw dropped.

"Eliot?!"

Eliot smirked.

"Ah! You two know each other, that's great!" Cleo smiled but Jimmy knew that this was far from great.

If anything, it was detrimental.

Cleo then clapped her hands and started explaining how Jimmy and Eliot would be working together and after she was done training them, it would just be them working on the weekends.

"So if you two want, you can switch out between who works at the counter and who makes the drinks. Me and my friend like to stick to our jobs, he mans the counter and I make the drinks, but I know the people before us like to switch. You can do whatever you want really."

Jimmy and Eliot nodded, and Cleo started showing them the ropes.

She taught them how to make all of the drinks and let them each help out a couple of customers.

Jimmy wasn't great at being the cashier, but he was learning.

Eliot though was much better.

At the end of the day, Cleo left to her car and Jimmy waited for his mother to show up.

Eliot also was waiting for his father, so he and Jimmy had an awkward silence.

"So how's it going with Scott?" Eliot asked.

"Why do you care?" Jimmy snapped.

Eliot put his hands up like he was surrendering.

"Chill dude, I was just wondering."

Jimmy shot him the stink eye.

"Scott's told me all about you. You're a fucking bitch."

Eliot looked at Jimmy up and down and then said,

"The feeling is mutual."

Jimmy blinked, "What?"

"You think I'm a bitch, I think you're a bitch. But look, we gotta learn how to cooperate because we're going to be working together. You and I both don't want this café to get bad reviews because of us."

I hesitated and then nodded.

"But I thought you hated me." I said.

"Oh, I do. But we just have to...talk."

Jimmy raised an eyebrow and Eliot sighed.

"Look, I don't like you, you don't like me, but let's just try and do this, alright?"

Jimmy narrowed his eyes.

"What are you getting at?" He asked.

"Nothing!"

Jimmy scoffed, "I know you're planning something. And let me tell you, if it has anything to do with Scott, then- "

"Then what? You can't fight me, I know you won't."

A black minivan then pulled up and Eliot sighed, getting up.

"Look, let's just try and get along, alright?" He asked, stretching out a hand.

Jimmy smacked it away and Eliot shrugged.

"Fine." He said, getting into his father's car.

-

"-and then he said that I wouldn't fight him and left! I mean, it's obvious he's planning something." Jimmy paused and sighed.

"I just don't want him to hurt you again." He said, leaning on Scott's shoulder.

Scott smiled softly and kissed his boyfriend's forehead, "I'm sure he won't, don't worry."

Jimmy hummed, thinking about a question that has been bothering him.

"Petal?"

"Yeah?"

"What...what happened with Eliot?" Jimmy asked, "Like...how did he mistreat you."

Scott looked nervous.

"I- I already told you; he cheated on me and broke my heart."

Jimmy looked up at Scott.

"There's nothing more? Like no other details?"

Scott hesitated and shook his head.

"Petal," Jimmy said, reaching to hold Scott's hand, "I just want to help you."

Scott nodded sadly, looking down.

"I know you do, Sunflower, but..." Scott sighed, "It's just really hard for me to talk about that."

"Well...when you're ready to tell me I'm all ears."

Scott smiled softly, "Thanks."
