Damijon - Of Proms, Pictures, and Pure Fluff
This is a fanfic of the supersons, because I ship them and it's great. You don't really need to know who they are to read it, though.
Jon and Damien were sitting on a roof after patrol, enjoying the warm spring night. Jon was smiling widely, and even Damien had a small grin. They each had a cone of ice cream, too.
"Hey, Damien, didn't you say earlier you had something to ask me," Jon said before licking his double-chocolate-with-extra-chocolate-sprinkles, watching the older boy carefully.
Much to Jon's disappointment, Damien's face immediately closed off, becoming coldly neutral. His vibrant green eyes still shone with something Jon couldn't identify, though. "I- I suppose I did. J- Jon," Damien said softly, uncharacteristically hesitant and stuttering slightly. "Would..." He took a deep breath. "Would you like to go to prom with me?"
Jon's eyes widened almost comically. Was Damien asking him as a date? Jon's mind raced, picking up on how fast his friend's heartbeat was pounding and taking note of the red that had overtaken the bird's cheeks. "Dami? Do you mean... as a date? Like, romantically?"
He watched as Damien's head ducked lower, the blush deepening. "Um, I- I, uh... Yes?" Damien's voice was startlingly quiet, completely out of character for the usually prideful and arrogant boy. Jon probably wouldn't have heard it if he didn't have superhearing. The younger boy smiled, scooting closer to the assassin and lifting a hand to his blushing face.
"I'd love to, Dami," Jon finally replied, leaning closer to the older hero and pecking him softly on the cheek.
Damien's face immediately turned an even deeper shade of red, his ears reddening as well. His eyes had blown wide, and he shrunk back a little from Jon. "Don't- Don't call me that, Jon, it's- just don't," Damien trailed off.
"Why not? Don't like nicknames?" Jon was now wearing a playful grin, enjoying the sight of Damien so flustered.
"It- it sounds like a form of endearment that many use in Arabic. Dumi, it means 'my blood'," Damien tried to explain, still completely flushed and unsettled. "It's like saying someone is as important and valuable to you as your insides."
"Then I don't see the problem," Jon chirped brightly. "You are that important to me, Dami. I would love to call you that."
Damien was now as red as humanly possible, if not a bit more. He managed to stutter out an 'okay', still utterly mortified. He cleared his throat and clapped his hands, forcing himself to forget what had just happened. "Well, okay- we'll be needing to coordinate our outfits for this. I believe a full suit is necessary for the gathering. Most likely, you do not have any suitable attire," the bird looked Jon up and down. "Does Saturday work for you? Around eleven? We can pick up lunch while we're there, too."
"Wait, why are we going out? And, yeah, I don't have anything to do Saturday, but why-"
"We need to get proper clothing for this endeavor. I will not have us going to the prom looking like idiotic buffoons, Jon," Damien was staring at him incredulously. "I'll pick you up at eleven, then?"
"Okay, I'll tell my mom." Jon smiled widely at Damien, getting a small grin back. "See you on Saturday."
And with that, the two heroes parted for the night, both sporting smiles of pure joy and the excitement of a budding romance that all young hearts love entangling themselves in.
----
"You- you look amazing, Dami."
Damien had arrived to pick up Jon to go to prom, dressed in his new suit with his hair styled perfectly. Jon had to stop himself from launching at the gorgeous boy in front of him. Instead, he hurried down the stairs and wrapped his Damien in a bone-crushing hug.
Literally.
"Jon- I know I look great- but- uh, could you- you're crushing me, Jon!" Damien began hitting him lightly on the arm, making Jon immediately let go. "How is it even possible to hug that hard?"
Jon chuckled nervously, letting go and sliding into the limousine Damien had come in. He glanced towards the front to see Alfred smiling back at him, nodding in greeting. Jon grinned back.
Damien sat beside the Kryptonian, setting his hand softly on Jon's. The ride to the venue passed quietly, the young vigilantes sending each other happy looks every now and then.
When they finally got there, Damien took a moment to fix Jon's tie before they strode off into the building. Damien checked them in before dragging Jon by the hand into a room packed with other people Damien's age. Jon was almost three years younger, despite being slightly taller than Damien.
Jon noticed multiple people shooting them glances. He ignored them, focusing on Damien and studying the decorations around the room. He turned to Damien, "Hey, Dami, I'm going to go get some drinks, okay?"
The older boy nodded, pointing at the tables in the other corner, indicating where he'd be.
Jon set off to find the table of refreshments but got interrupted halfway to his destination. "Hey, what's your name? I've never seen you around school before," the girl put a finger to her chin, eyes narrowing. "You look younger, too. Are you sure you're supposed to be here?"
Jon gulped, nodding. "I do go to a different school, but I'm here 'cause I'm someone's date. Oh, and my name's Jon, what's yours?"
"I'm Alex. May I ask who your date is?"
Jon smiled, thinking of the assassin sitting on the other side of the room. "Damien."
Alex's eyes grew so large they nearly popped out of her head. She pulled him closer before whispering, "Damien? As in Damien Wayne? The one who rejected almost every girl in the grade so far and some of the boys, too?"
"Oh, um, well... Can't say that doesn't sound like Dami. He can be pretty difficult," Jon laughed nervously. "Yeah, um, I'm off to get a couple of drinks for us, so... see you later?"
Alex nodded her head vaguely, still mystified by what just occurred. Jon took the opportunity to sneak away and grab two glasses of bright red punch. It was pretty hard making his way across the room without spilling anything, but somehow he managed. Jon could feel his whole face lighten when he saw Damien, who happened to be sitting alone. The younger boy noticed more than a few people eyeing the green-eyed boy, though.
"Hey, Dami, I hope you're okay with punch, there weren't many other options, but-"
"It's fine, Jon," Damien said with the ghost of a smile. Jon sat beside him, and they stayed silent for a few minutes. Until Damien spoke up again. "Jon, I was wondering if you'd like to join me for a dance or two?"
Jon jumped up excitedly, pulling Damien by the wrist. They entered the dance floor, neither completely aware of the numerous stares pointed at them. You see, in school, Damien was silent, gorgeous, unattainable, and unfazed by anything. He was never seen making faces other than the typical disdainful sneer and a cold neutral. But now, he was the complete opposite. (Other than the gorgeous part. He was still incredibly gorgeous, maybe even more so) Damien was laughing quietly and smiling in a manner other than a smirk. The students around the two were utterly baffled at the change in demeanor, some girls even shooting them envious glares.
Both Jon and Damien were seemingly oblivious to the attention, wrapped up in dancing with each other. The music had morphed into a slow song, making Jon shift their arms and pause their movements before beginning to sway gently, back and forth. Damien pulled Jon closer, linking his arms around Jon's neck and smiling softly. They stayed like that for the song's duration, still ignoring everyone else in the room. When they finally broke apart, both had huge grins on their faces and the party was nearly over.
Checking the time, Damien tugged Jon towards the door. "Would you like to spend the night at my house? We can stop at your's first to grab what you need," Damien glanced up at Jon hopefully.
"That's a great idea, Dami! Come here, I'll just fly us over quick," Jon wrapped his arms around Damien, sweeping him off his feet in a bridal pose. The younger boy quickly looked around to make sure no one saw. Jon had to hold back a laugh at him. "And up we go!"
Damien was shocked at being picked up so fast. He could definitely say no one else had ever carried him like this, but because it was Jon, he was okay with it. But, the bird thought savagely, if anyone saw me like this, I will brutally assassinate them. With that lovely thought, he laid his head on Jon's chest, allowing himself to relax. His arms were around Jon's neck, and his face was curled next to the Kryptonian's collarbone.
Slowly, Jon flew, taking more care than usual than when he was by himself. The last time he'd flown somewhere with Damien, he had gone too high and accidentally got the boy sick. There had been an extremely long lecture after that.
They were a little over halfway to Jon's house when the taller boy realized Damien was asleep. The assassin was now a dead weight in his arms, but Jon wasn't paying attention to that. He was watching the older boy's face. He looked so much more peaceful when he was sleeping and it didn't look like he always wanted to kill you. Jon smiled before noticing a shadow over them. He looked up.
They were about to hit a skyscraper. Jon swerved, hoping no one in the building had seen them. He looked back down at Damien, still sleeping, and continued on.
----
By the time they had picked up Jon's stuff and gotten back to Wayne Manor, it was about two in the morning. Both boys were tired, and only one was still functioning well enough to get them to bed.
"Jon, come on, we need to brush our teeth. We should've taken showers, too, but I suppose we can do that in the morning," Damien grumbled as he began changing in the large closet.
Jon slowly got up, desperately wanting to go to bed. He lazily brushed his teeth and changed into his pajamas, seeing Damien glaring at him for doing a bad job of it. The younger boy smiled brightly in Damien's direction, making the boy's glower fade into an eye roll and smirk.
It took a half-hour for them both to get ready, and then they slid under the sheets. Jon had protested having a different room, claiming it wouldn't be a proper sleepover. Damien had simply shaken his head, smiling softly. Now, they lay side by side, both trying to fall asleep and failing. Jon was tired only a few minutes ago, but now he was wide awake.
"Hey, Dami?"
"Yes?"
"I forgot Max."
"Who is Max?" Damien asked, a confounded look on his face as he propped himself on his elbows..
"My... Please don't laugh, Dami, I've had him since forever. My teddy bear," Jon could feel his cheeks heating up and turning pink in the dim light. "I can't sleep without him."
"Oh... Well, um. You could hug a pillow?" Damien fell back onto the bed with a sigh.
"Or..." Jon trailed off and Damien could hear him shifting closer. "Or I could just hug you."
Damien gasped lightly, surprised by the arms that were snaking around his stomach. Jon pulled him closer, so Damien's back was pressed against Jon's stomach. After a moment of hesitation, Damien snuggled into Jon a little, liking having the body behind him. "You're so warm," he mumbled, remembering how cold he usually was. Damien generally used multiple heavy blankets, he was trained to survive through both extreme hot and extreme cold, but he still didn't like the cold at all.
It was a little odd at first, but they fell asleep easily like that, pressed into each other throughout the night.
----
When Damien woke, he was immediately confused. His head was on something warm and soft, his arm thrown over the thing, his legs tangled with it.
His eyes flew open and widened. It was a person. Damien glanced up and saw Jon's face, sleeping peacefully. He relaxed, remembering what happened last night, his cheeks blushing slightly. His head was resting on Jon's chest and he felt the younger boy's arms wrapped around him tightly. He smiled, loving the sensation that surrounded him. He was never the type to touch someone or hug them voluntarily, but he secretly loved how it felt. Jon was one of the only people who had figured that out so far.
Damien was snapped out of his thoughts by a click echoing through his room. His head shot up off Jon, propping himself on his arms. When his eyes caught sight of Dick standing sheepishly behind him with a phone still held up to take a picture, he began to glare.
He saw Dick's eyes grow in fear and watched the older vigilante begin to run. Damien smirked for a small moment before resuming his death glare and sprinting after the older bird.
"Grayson, if you don't delete that right now, I will brutally murder you! And I will do it happily," Damien roared as he gave chase. "Stop right this instant, you idiot!"
Dick glanced back and smirked, but didn't turn back around in time to see the fold in the carpet. He tripped, flying through the air, coming to rest on the ground a few feet away. He lay there, his face contorted in fear as Damien stalked closer. The assassin jumped onto his brother, holding him down and grappling for the phone.
Jon had heard a few questionable noises as he woke up and made his way down the hallway to see what was happening. He was stopped by the sight of Damien and Dick fighting each other on the ground. He rushed forward, catching Damien's hands. "What are you guys doing? It's like seven in the morning! That's way too early for being awake!"
He then caught sight of Dick holding the phone, the photo he'd just taken displayed. Jon's mouth dropped open. "Is that why you were fighting?"
He dropped Damien and went over to Dick, whispering in his ear. The eldest bird tapped a few times on the phone, then looked up, nodding at Jon. The Kryptonian then spoke up so that Damien could hear, too. "Now delete it, Dick."
Dick pulled a sad face, but Damien gave him a death glare from where he stood behind Jon. Dick rolled his eyes and deleted the picture at last.
As he left, Jon turned back to Damien. "Can we go back to bed please, Dami? It's too early for this," He whined, giving Damien the best puppy dog eyes he could muster. The younger boy smiled as wide as possible when Damien sighed and grabbed his hand, pulling him into the bedroom. Jon chuckled, knowing Damien couldn't resist when he used the puppy eyes on him.
As they got situated again, Damien instead turned around so that they were facing each other. Jon still had his arms around Damien, but the bird had picked up a hand and was running it through Jon's hair softly. The taller boy closed his eyes, enjoying the light touch.
Jon's eyes opened, though, when he felt a pair of lips against his own. Damien had leaned forward to kiss him, and Jon returned it with equal passion, tightening his arms around Damien. They didn't break it until they were both gasping for air, their breaths mingling. The boys took the moment to stare at each other, eyes locking. Emerald stared into sapphire, both smiling.
They heard a knock on the door and sprung apart, only to hear Alfred calling them down for breakfast. They laughed together and got up to face the world, hands twisted together.
----
~A few months later~
"Hey, Jon, can I borrow your phone for a minute? I need to call Bruce," Damien asked.
"Oh, yeah, sure," Jon replied, tugging it out of his pocket. "Anything for you, Dami."
Damien's cheeks immediately lit up red, attempting to glare at Jon. But, alas, it didn't work, for he was also trying desperately not to smile.
The bird was about to swipe into the phone when he noticed something about the lock screen. It was a picture of him and Jon, peacefully entangled together and asleep. Damien looked at it in horror. "I thought I told Grayson to delete this! The imbecile! How did you even get this, Jon? It's a terrible picture, we're both utterly vulnerable, and we aren't even dressed-"
Jon glanced over and laughed. "I asked him to send me it before he got rid of it. Though I'm sure he has it backed up somewhere." Jon wrapped his arms around the assassin and laid his chin on Damien's shoulder. "I think it's the best picture I've ever seen," He claimed, starting to kiss Damien's neck. The boy tried to run away, but the Kryptonian held him there easily. "I won't let you go until you realize it's the best photo of all time."
Damien reluctantly nodded his head, eager to get away from the ticklish kisses that Jon wouldn't stop. "Fine! It's the greatest picture I've ever seen! Happy now?"
Jon smiled, turning Damien around in his arms. "The happiest," He whispered before connecting them in a not-so-chaste kiss.
