An Angel In The Night
He grabbed my hand and we ran along the dark streets. The occasional street lamp lit the streets with a bluish glow. The cobblestones underfoot tried their hand at tripping us, but we continued on, moving quickly through the shadowed roads and alleys of the world around us. A few stray flakes of snow drifted down, but they were ignored.
Azrael pulled me into one of the shops lining the street, away from the snow beginning to fill the sky. The cafe we now stood in was cheery, but still covered in the haze of shadows that were everywhere in the City of Night.
His fingers slipped from my hand and he stepped up to the counter. I lingered morosely over the loss of touch before looking up. A lady stood behind the glass cases, adorned in a deep blue dress and gold all over her body, from the thick anklets to the gold chain belt to the large hoops in her ears. She glanced up as Azrael requested something. She sighed, then leaned over and pulled out two mugs and two scones. Az grabbed them and, handing one of each to me, pulled me back out to the growing storm. The snow swirled around us, yet still we ignored it, letting the flakes fall onto us lightly. He kept our hands locked as we stepped into a garden. It was still green, even with the cold permeating the city. It was filled with dark flowers and vibrant leaves, all reaching toward the cloudy sky high above.
A door was set into the wall at the other end, and that's where Azrael was heading. We strolled through the plants, our hands still linked. As we stepped over the threshold, sipping our drinks, I felt the air turn much warmer and more welcoming. I hung my coat on the hooks beside the door, watching as the dark-haired boy slipped off his shoes and beckoned to me, walking to another room. I hurried to follow him and stopped before completely entering the room before me.
A tree stood in the middle of the room, and it was decorated with ornaments and tinsel, even a few peppermints lay among its needles. I felt my mouth fall open, and I nearly dropped my scone. Azrael had done this- for me. I turned to him and quickly set what I held on a nearby table. I ran at him, tackling him in a hug. He almost fell over, but kept his balance even with my added weight. I felt a tear slip down my cheek.
His hand reached up and wiped it away, along with a lock of hair. Then I realized how close we were, how near our mouths were. I could feel his breath on mine, mingling in the air. We held each other close, our eyes locked. He bent his head down, and our lips had almost touched when a banging started. The door nearly shook with the force of the knocking.
Azrael stepped away, turning the knob and letting someone in. I heard them greet each other, and Az laughing at something they'd said. I felt a rush of something dark, momentarily hating whoever that person was, but then I let it go. It would never benefit me to hold a grudge, and there wasn't even any particular reason to anyway. I was an angel, after all, I was supposed to be all about goodness.
I let out my bad thoughts with my next breath and picked my mug back up. The two walked in from the entryway and I stood, smiling widely, ready for the fun night ahead. I was excited to spend more time with Azrael, even if it was illegal and improper.
Even if he was a demon.

So how was that? Okay? It's a piece I wrote almost a year ago, I just recently found it again, so here you go. 631 words in total~
I've always liked thinking about the relationship between good and evil, it's fun to play around with sometimes, especially in romance stories :D
If you're reading this, I hope you're having a good day!
