Follow You - Leico
I really wanted to write on a song based from Bring Me The Horizon, this and Oh No are my favorites, but this one fits this text better. I hope you enjoy!
Nico turned off his phone, it wasn't often he did that, only on the days where things were to loud, or on the days when he felt low. He liked turning it off and go to bed. Just lay under the covers and fall asleep to the sound of his sister rummaging around in the kitchen. He liked hearing the way that on the good days his friends would come over, he loved hearing how they knocked on the front door, their soft steps to his room, the way they knocked before stepping in. He loved it especially when Leo came, he adored the gruffy hello that Leo uttered in the door, he loved the way that Leo went straight to his desk and spun around on his chair.
Today was a good day, he had only lay in bed for an hour, falling in and out of sleep. He woke up right when Bianca opened the door for one of his friends, he never knew who would come and that was the interesting part, he had a hunch that they had a Facebook group where they took turns coming over to him, like they discussed on Facebook who's turn it was.
Footsteps echoed, he knew who it was even before the door swung open. Leo had a certain way of walking, tip toeing, walking as if there was a threat around every corner. The moment the door swung open, which was clue number two since Leo never knocked now a days, the footsteps became more sure of themselves.
"Hello," it was as if Leo hadn't used his voice at all that day.
Nico grunted from under the covers, he heard the moan from the chair when Leo began spinning around and around.
"So, today after school my father said that I should probably take another shift at the shop. I said I couldn't, I have that thing you know..."
"What thing?" Nico asked, he turned around under the covers so that he was facing his friend, well he would be facing his friend if the cover wasn't in the way.
"The art thing." Leo replied, "my teacher says that if I make a good enough sculpture by the end of the week then I can get a scholarship. So I really don't have the time to take up extra shifts at my father's store, why can't he get that?"
Nico hummed, he was never sure what to say to Leo when he vented. He liked that Leo just started talking, Leo didn't even expect Nico to answer and it was just gold to have a friend like that.
"Anyway, so when Piper texted me that you didn't answer on our group I told my father that I couldn't work because I had to come to you."
"If you want to go to the studio you can just say so." Nico didn't understand why he got so sad when Leo said things like that, like Nico was just an excuse for Leo to sneak away, maybe Leo didn't see him as a friend after all.
"No, no, it's not like that Neeks." The chair groaned as Leo got up.
Nico felt the bed dip where Leo sat down, a hand was placed on his shoulder, the warmth from Leo seeped through the cover, Nico didn't struggle with Leo instead he let him take the cover off him.
"Neeks," Nico turned his gaze to Leo, Leo who had messy curly brown hair, pointy ears like a Christmas elf, and that tan skin that showed of his Hispanic side.
"Show me," Nico spoke before Leo could say anything else.
"Show you what?" Leo asked confused, it wasn't often that Nico asked him for anything during his visits.
"Your sculpture."
"It's not finished," was it just Nico or did Leo blush?
"I don't care, I want to see it, I show you my art don't I?" he looked over the desk where his art book laid open, even several papers were scattered around, all showing of different stages of drawings that were almost done.
"Fine." Leo huffed and got up.
It was cold outside, it wasn't that weird since it was the beginning of November. Nico who already felt low started feeling a little better, a comfy jacket and thick gloves, what could be better?
Walking Leo.
Yeah, walking with Leo was better, Leo had his hands in his pockets, he had a red beanie on, and a red scarf. He slowly whistled a song as they walked, Nico couldn't figure out what song exactly but he knew that it probably was Fall Out Boy or Beyoncé.
"You know, I didn't think you would want to go to my studio, you're having a bad day, you never walk outside on bad days." Leo said and continued whistling as if he hadn't said anything at all.
"I want to see your sculpture," Nico said in a hushed voice.
He didn't really mind walking, the afternoon sun light made the asfalt glitter, it had probably rained just a few hours before because water could be found everywhere. The chill air made Nico breath deeper, the smell of autumn hung heavy in the wind.
"Why are you feeling bad? We never talk about it and you never talk about to the others either, I asked them and they have no clue. Sorry if I'm insensitive but I want to know what bothered you." This time the whistling stopped altogether, Leo had slowed down almost making them stop.
"No it's cool," Nico shrugged. "I... Hm... I don't really know. I just get low sometimes, having friends around me makes it better but I don't really know why I get sad. Sometimes I just get so frustrated at myself because I get low, it sucks not knowing what it is."
"Haven't you thought about talking to a doctor?"
"It's just me and Bianca, we can't afford it, we're lucky enough that Bi get to take care of me." Nico said tugging at Leo's arm to make him walk faster again.
Leo took out one of his hands from his pockets, he took Nico's gloved hand in his, "okay as long as you call one of us to come and talk to you."
"Actually it's mostly you who talk, Annabeth, Jason, Piper and Frank mostly studies. Percy watches movies on my computer, and Hazel usually sits down beside me and read a book or doodle around on paper or sometimes my arms." Nico explained, "that's why I really like it when you come over, I love how you just start talking like its the most natural thing."
"Well it's weird to just sit there isn't it?" Leo laughed, "I thought everyone talked, I feel a little guilty now, just talking."
"It's cool, it's not like I have to answer you unless I want to."
"You're feeling bad of course you don't have to answer. When my mom gets sad she usually just wants me to be there and talk, she doesn't care about what as long as I am talking."
"And when you're sad?"
"I either draw or sculpt." Leo shrugged seining their hands between them, something so childish yet so adorable.
They continued walking down the street in silence. Now and again Nico would cast side glances at Leo, watching the way his cheeks and nose were red from the cold, the way his lips were twisted in a smile, the way he looked up at the sky only to quickly turn his eyes to the people that walked past them.
"So.." Nico started.
Leo turned to Nico, the two of them were almost the same height, Leo was just a little bit taller.
"What is the sculpture about?"
"Love." Leo said straight forward, "we're almost there now."
They were close to the school now, Leo had started whistling again, this time Nico clearly heard that it was Tik Tok by Kesha. A really old song.
Leo guided Nico through the neighbor hood and brought him to a stop in front of a small building. Leo locked up the door, dragged Nico up the stairs and unlocked another door. The small apartment wasn't much, it had a bed in one corner, a small kitchen, and in the living room (or what to call it) housed Leo's art supplies.
The sculpture had a white sheet on to shield it of dust.
"Can I?" Nico asked letting go of Leo's hand to walk up to the sculpture and laying a hand on the sheet.
Leo nodded solemnly.
The sheet fell to the floor, the sculpture was a marble statue, a statue that Leo must have worked on forever. The statue was of a boy, a boy with messy hair, a half smirk, and open eyes that spoke both of despair and happiness at the same time.
The boy stood in a white chiton, it showed off his scrawny form, but somehow he was still beautiful.
Nico walked around the statue, trying to catch all the details. The way that the boy's hands were slim with elegant fingers, the way that he stood on his toes, like he was going to run away at any time.
The most important part was the face. The boyish features, the long neck, the eyebrows that were raised.
The statue was him.
"It's me," he breathed, "I don't understand."
"A year ago my teacher told me to make something that could never be broken. I offered to make a statue, first I made it of clay, then stone, and now marble. The more I knew the easier it was to do it. I'm not finished by a long shot but I..." Leo walked up to the statue, stroking the cold marble cheek. "I made something that can't be broken because I... I have been in live with you for a while now."
"That explains why you went to that rock concert with me," Nico chuckled trying to lighten the mood, trying to hide the way that he was freaking out.
"Yeah," Leo scratched the back of his neck, "Look Nico, I know that it's crazy and you don't have to feel the-"
Nico pulled Leo down in a rough kiss. Leo had warm lips, he tasted of the chill autumn air that they had left behind only minutes ago.
"I tried to make that concert into a date, but I got to scared." Nico confessed.
"You did?" Leo laughed.
"Me and Piper sat up the whole night trying to come up with ways for me to ask you out. Ever since then I have tried multiple times to ask you out but you only took it as friends."
"Wow Piper sucks!" Leo tried to covered up the statue again but was stopped by Nico.
"Please don't, I like him." Nico smiled looking at the marble statue of himself. "At least now j understand all those bruises on your hands and arms, it's hard to shape marble."
"It was worth it," Leo pulled Nico into a tight hug from behind.
"I agree."
"So how about I take you out on a proper date tonight?" Leo asked.
"Tomorrow?" Nico replied in a hushed voice. "I'm still not one hundred and I don't want to be low on our first official date."
"That's okay, as long as I don't have to go to another rock concert, I know you adore that awful music but I almost lost my hearing," Leo complained jokingly.
Nico playfully hit Leo on the arm, "it's not exactly rock, it's punk rock, and Pierce The Viel is amazing. Much better than Kesha anyway."
"Mm, key dollar sign ha, what an amazing singer she is." Leo smiled.
"Leo?"
"Yes?"
"Can I kiss you again?" Nico asked, his lips tingled from their previous kiss and he wanted more.
"Sure but first I will walk you home." Leo said in a sweet tone.
