Thirty-two
Allison's POV:
I continued to chase after Kate through the several pathways that led us further and further inside the temple with my lungs practically on fire from the amount of time I spent non-stop running.
I press on the trigger once we turn a corner, the bullet barely grazing her abdomen which causes her to stumble what seemed like another large room.
She quickly stands to her feet with a pained expression as I aimed the gun towards her.
"You want to kill me, Allison?" She breathlessly asked. "Your aunt? The one that's been there for you ever since you were a little girl?"
"No." I panted before I cleared my throat. "But I don't want to save you anymore either. I don't know that you're worth saving."
"Just like your father when we were kids. Always trying to make me the bad guy." She scoffed. "Neither of you can see them clearly anymore, can you?"
I glare. "What are you talking about?"
"Scott's not your little hero. None of them are!" She exclaimed. "Not when they killed your mother. Not when they killed Olivia. You're lucky that I got her on time when she resurrected or else none of you would've realized she was alive."
I push down the painful memories before I boldly take a step closer to her. "My mother only learned about the malicious ways about the supernatural while my father finally saw from their perspective and strived to protect it. For Olivia...Olivia died saving our friends. She died saving me." I state harshly before shaking my head with disbelief. "Her act of courage is something you would never be able to do because you have nobody. You wouldn't die for anybody because you're a cold-hearted psychotic bitch and you deserved what Peter did to you."
"But no matter how much you convince yourself you're strong, you're always gonna be weak." The corners of her lips perk up. "You're not gonna kill me." She whispered as she started to slowly back away from me. "And you're not gonna catch me. Not you, not your father." She lets out a groan. "Not Peter. And not the Calaveras."
She grunts as she continued to sprint off and I couldn't help but let the tears escape from my eyes as I watched her sprint off.
I slowly sink to the floor and wrap my arms around my knees, bringing them close to my face as I finally released every bit of emotion I've pent up for the past few weeks.
Everything I've wanted to say to her, I was finally able to say it directly to her face.
I feel a pair of arms wrap around me and I look up to see it was my father who wore a sympathetic expression. "I'm sorry," My voice cracked but he took the gun away from me. "I couldn't—I couldn't—"
"It's okay." He whispered as he kissed the top of my head. "We'll find her and stop her next time. I'm proud of you."
Olivia's POV:
The sun had risen as we all stood outside the Church and from what Parrish had explained, it was one hell of a fight.
Apparently, the Calaveras, Chris, and Parrish ended up driving here and aided Braeden with fighting off Kate and her Berserkers.
To add on to that, Derek wasn't dying at all from the stab wound by the Berserker. Instead, he evolved and can now transform into an actual wolf, and from how Allison explained it, it seemed like he had his abilities back.
Thankfully, Stilinski called Stiles back and had explained that he and my father had saved Mason, Lydia, and Phoebe from a Berserker that had held them hostage in the school basement.
I knew I had some explaining to do once I got home and I definitely wasn't ready for that.
Chris breaks away from his conversation from Araya and walks towards where Kira, Scott, Allison, and I stood. "There's enough yellow wolfsbane to keep Peter out for the trip back, but be careful."
Allison furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "Wait, aren't you transporting him to Eichen with Parrish?"
He's silent for a moment and I look behind him, seeing Araya's stares never tearing away as if she was waiting for him to finish.
My eyes widen in realization and I look to meet his gaze. "You're going with them, aren't you?" I ask and he simply nodded.
"I made a deal with the Calaveras weeks ago. They'll leave you alone." He answered before he looked over to Scott and the rest of our friends. "All of you."
"How do we know they'll keep their word?" Scott asked.
"They will if I help them catch Kate."
"What if you can't?" Kira warily asked
"I'll find her." He gave a small smile before looking at his daughter. "Someone has to."
"What about me?" Allison hesitantly asked. "Does that mean I'm going too?"
He shook his head immediately. "I realized that I can't prevent you from growing up forever. So..." He digs his hand inside his pocket and pulls out a set of keys, placing them inside her hand. "I'm leaving you in charge of the apartment. It's time that I leave you to make your own choices as an adult."
"How do I know which choice is the right one?" She asked, tears now brimming her eyes. "Maybe I'm not ready, maybe I--"
"You're ready." His eyes lock with mine before looking back to Allison, placing his hand on her shoulder. "When you're beginning to doubt yourself, just know that you'll always have someone that'll show you."
She smiles, wiping the tears with her sleeve as she quickly pulled her father into a hug. "I love you, Dad."
"I love you too."
The two break away from the hug and we watch as Argent walks towards Araya as the rest of the hunters get inside their vehicles with them trailing behind.
I feel an arm wrap around my waist and I didn't have to look to know that it was Allison which causes me to move my arm to pull her close.
"I know we still need to talk about something things," Allison whispered as we watch her father drive away. "but can you just...hold me?"
"Of course."

Liam had wanted me to tag along with Scott and Stiles so they could explain to Coach Finstock why they missed practice and the game.
I guess you could say I was moral support.
"Then Stiles said that Scott and Kira were stuck in Mexico which was why they missed the game. Uh," Liam paused and briefly looked to me for help, but I nodded for him to continue. "so we went down to Mexico to drive them back from Mexico and that's why we all missed practice cause..." He trailed off as Coach practically glared at the poor kid. "we were all in...Mexico."
"You took Kira on a date to Mexico?" Coach's glare now on Scott.
"It was our first real date." Scott replied as if the story was believable. It definitely wasn't.
"In Mexico?"
"They wanted to do something special." Stiles awkwardly smiled. "Cause you know, we're teenagers so they wanted to—"
"Stiles," I cut him off with a fake smile. "stop talking."
"Okay," Coach spoke up. "I believe you."
Liam's eyes widen slightly. "Really?"
"Absolutely not." Coach's eyes land on me. "And how do you fit into this, Ms. Flores?"
"Uh..." I trail off. "I wanted to see the Mexican culture? It's pretty nice if you ask me."
He looks back over to Scott and Stiles. "I've had experiences south of the border that would knock the genitals off you boys." I scrunch my nose in disgust. "Still, let me be clear to you two. This kid's the best talent I've seen in years so he's your responsibility now. The three of you are gonna stick together, you're gonna look out for each other, and you're gonna have each other's backs. You got it?"
Scott smiles down at Liam. "We got it."
Coach's eyes land on mine. "And you too. You're always somehow involved in their antics so you're gonna make sure he's on top of his academics so he can stay on my team which means I expect the same from you too."
I nudge Liam's side with a teasing smile. "Won't be a problem."

"So...you're friends with people who all have supernatural abilities?" Phoebe's eyes darts between Allison and I, clutching onto one of her plushies on her bed.
"Not all of us." Allison chuckled softly. "Human like you."
"And you guys went to Mexico because...?" She trailed off.
"We had to save Scott and Kira from Kate and those skeleton guys you dealt with Lydia and Mason." I explain.
"Kate's your aunt who turned into a were-jaguar?" Phoebe looked to Allison and she nodded. "You guys had to fight her and Peter?"
"Yup." Allison and I responded at the same time.
"Man...and I thought my life was complicated." Phoebe awkwardly scratched the back of her neck. "So when Garrett and Violet befriended me, they wanted to use me to get to you." She concluded.
I walk over to her bed to wrap an arm around her shoulder. "I'm sorry that you were dragged into this. I tried so hard to keep it away from you and Dad."
"It's okay. At least I know the truth." She gave a small smile. "Anyway, the good news is that he didn't see the Berserker. He walked in as soon as Sheriff gave him the clear to come down once the explosion went off."
"That's good." I pull my arm away before giving her a stern expression. "Now that I told you everything, you have to promise me that you won't tell anyone else about it, okay?"
She nods. "I promise."
"Good."
"I can't believe my step-sister is a Phoenix." Phoebe grinned almost child-like. "Can you show me a fire trick? You mentioned that you can throw fireballs so does that mean you can juggle? Oh! I know! Does that mean you can fire-bend like in Avatar?"
"Uh..." I trail off and look to Allison for help, seeing her stifle a laugh. "maybe another day."
"I should get going." Allison grabbed her purse from my desk. "I have to finish my econ homework if I want to pass the class on time."
"I'll walk you down." I say, standing up from Phoebe's bed.
I follow behind Allison but before I shut my room door, I catch the smirk on Phoebe's expression as she mouthed the words 'Kiss her!' which caused me to roll my eyes as I shut the door behind me.
We walk down the stairs and see my mom warming up leftovers in the kitchen while my dad was watching some random show on the TV.
She turns her head, catching us walk to the door. "You better not be going out this late, Olivia. It's a school night and I still haven't forgotten about the little trip you and the rest of your friends took on Saturday."
"I know, I know." I mutter, awkwardly scratching the back of my neck.
"She's just walking me out to my car, Ms. Flores and Mr. Jimenez." Allison gave a warm smile. "I doubt we're going out on another trip anytime soon."
"Liz, let Olivia talk to her friend. She's old enough to realize her mistake and I doubt she'll disobey us again." My dad said before he gestured outside. "Go ahead."
"Thanks." I give a small smile before pulling the front door open and allowing Allison to step out first while I followed behind, shutting the door behind me. "Sorry about that." I spoke up as we walk to her car.
"No worries. I know they mean well." She gave a small smile. "What excuse did you tell your Dad when you came back?"
"That Kira and Scott got their car stranded in Mexico." I snort. "I'm surprised he believed it, but it didn't get me out of being grounded for a month."
"That sucks." Allison chuckled and we both stop at her car. "So...we never had our talk."
This was it. The talk where I knew I had to say what needed to be said. With the things we've been through together, I wanted us to be good again.
I scratch the back of my neck. "Right..." I look to my house and see my Dad watching us from the blinds which causes me to roll my eyes with a smile. "Can we talk in your car?" She nods and quickly goes over to the driver's side, unlocking the vehicle, and both of us get inside. I shut the door and turn to face her, seeing her copy my actions.
"I—"
"We—"
We both start in unison but stop, realizing the other tried to speak as well. "Sorry." We both talk at the same time once more, earning a chuckle to escape from our lips.
"You start." Allison gave a small smile. "I insist."
"Alright—well, it's obvious that I care about you a lot and I assume you feel the same way." I spoke and she nods in agreement. "It's been an...eventful two months and when we broke things off, I was obviously hurt about it but now I understand why you did what you did. I thought by cutting you off from my life, I thought it would make the pain lessen but instead, it just fueled hatred that I never knew I had...until, you know, Peter mentioned it."
I look up to the ceiling of her car, letting out a sigh.
"I realized that in order for me to be happy, I shouldn't have been ungrateful with what fate gave me." I look away from the ceiling to meet her eyes. "Allison, you became the main source of my happiness and I'll always protect and still be in love with you,"
"But?"
"But I can't be with you." I hesitantly admit. "There have been too many times where I could've lost control and when one of the times you witnessed me almost kill someone...I didn't know what to think. Peter said that I had a darkness inside me and I don't want you to see that or put your life in jeopardy. Not again."
"Olivia, I'm not afraid—"
"Allison." I cut her off. "I saw the fear in your eyes. You said it yourself. You could barely be in the same room as me."
"I'm sorry." She sighed, looking up to the ceiling of her car. "Feels like the universe is always against us, huh?"
"I mean, once I get my powers under control we can hang out again. You're still my best friend." I give a small smile before I quickly added, "That is, if you still want to."
She looks away to meet my eyes with a smile. "Always." She lifts her hand up. "High-five? Pretty sure friends can high-five."
I nod and give her a high-five, but instead of instantly pulling away, both of our hands stayed pressed against each other. Our fingers slowly folded until we finally just held them together.
I look away from our hands and see Allison do the same, her cheeks becoming a tint of red once she caught my stares.
I slowly lean in until my lips press against hers, softly kissing her one last time. One last time to kiss the girl I loved that still made me feel the butterflies in my stomach.
Knowing that if we didn't stop, it'd make this harder for us both so I pull away, keeping our foreheads pressed against each other. "I love you." I whisper.
"...I love you too."

So with that being said, if you think Allison and Olivia have gone through enough trouble
