Allison's POV:

"Wow." Deaton simply mutters as he looked at the younger version of Derek that laid on top of the metal table.

"Wow?" Stiles raised his eyebrow. "Wow as in, 'I've seen this before and know exactly what to do' kind of wow? Because that's kind of what we're hoping for."

"I think you might be overestimating my abilities," Deaton remarked.

I gesture to Derek. "In other words, you don't know how to fix him."

Lydia reached for Derek's hand and squeezed it tightly. "He's cold." She looks up with a worried expression. "Really cold."

"Do you think this is permanent?" Scott asked.

Deaton flashes a light in Derek's face as he checked each of his eyes. "I'm not sure a medical diagnosis is even adequate." He moves the flashlight away and shrugged. "This is well beyond my experience."

"So what do we do with him?" Stiles questioned, knowing that we couldn't exactly just leave him like this for good.

"Until he wakes up," Deaton shook his head with defeat. "probably not much. It might be best to leave him with me. He'll be safe here."

"You mean from Kate," I say and he nods in agreement. "Are you sure we should leave him here? Can't she still track him down from here?"

"If she's alive and she is what you say she is, she won't be able to walk past that gate." He assured with a small smile.

Lydia furrowed her eyebrows. "Why would she want to do this to him?"

"Knowing Kate, it's probably for a reason that won't be any good for anyone but her."

Stiles scoffed. "And bad for everyone else."

"You guys should probably go home." I look to meet Deaton's concerned expression. "He doesn't look to be in any danger. So maybe the rest of you should get some sleep? It is a school night—and you all need to start taking care of your own lives again."

"Someone should stay with you," Scott spoke, blinking a couple of times to try to stay awake.

Lydia shrugged. "I'll stay."

I cross my arms. "Lydia, are you sure? I could stay if you want."

"You're barely catching up with Econ. My grades are fine, despite missing a few classes."

"I'm so not okay with this." Stiles shook his head defiantly.

She glanced up towards him. "Guys, go."

"No."

Scott pats Lydia on the shoulder. "Text us if anything happening."

She nods with a small smile, but Stiles crossed his arms with a frown. "Nope, still not okay with it." Scott gives me a look and I nod before we both grab Stiles' wrists to drag him along with us. "Not going anywhere," He added before Scott tugs harder, causing Stiles' shoes to squeak from the ground. "All right, just cause' you're both stronger—ow! Okay, okay!"

"So, it's like two in the morning." Stiles starts off as he, Scott, and I walk up the stairs to head to our history class, telling about his somewhat current 'relationship' with Malia. "I wake up and she's just lying right next to me. She just sneaks in like five times a week."

"And then what happens?" Scott furrowed his eyebrows as Stiles walks up the stairs ahead of us.

He reached the top of the stairs and stops. "This."

He lifts the back of his jacket and my eyes widen in shock. "Oh?" The sight of the various long red scratches that trailed down his back caused my jaw to drop.

I'm pretty sure I've never got to the extent of leaving a scar or two.

"Holy." Scott barely uttered out, definitely in shock as well.

Stiles put his shirt down and we proceeded to keep walking. "Yeah. Right on, right? After that, we spent the rest of the night spooning."

I furrow my eyebrows in confusion. "Isn't that good?"

"Yeah but...I'm always the little spoon. Always."

"Oh."

"It means you guys are together, right? You're dating?" Scott asked.

"I don't know." Stiles sighed. "Sometimes the way she looks at me, I think she knows I'm not telling her something."

"You mean Peter?"

"Scott, the longer we hide it, the more she'll get mad about not telling her," I say, noticing the discomfort in his expression.

"Yeah, I know. I just...I don't know how."

We walk inside Mr. Yukimura's classroom and sat in our usual seats where the boys were near the front while I sat next to Malia and in front of Kira towards the middle.

I glance at the empty desk on my left, memories flooding my head in remembrance of when she used to sit there.

FLASHBACK ((the night Olivia passed))

I tiredly drop my crossbow on my chair and toss my bag on the bed before I walk over to the mirror to see my reflection.

There were evident dark circles beginning to appear, due to the lack of sleep the past couple days. A small bruise from the Nogitsune's hit already had formed on my cheekbone and I knew that it was going to be there for awhile.

My eyes trail to the sweater I kept on the entire time, feeling a pang of my chest in remembrance of who it belonged to.

"So in a way i-it's perfect." Olivia shakily breathed out with a weak smile. "I'm dying in the arms of my first friend, my first girlfriend, the first girl that makes me believe that I-I'll never ever be alone. To never feel alone." She brushed her thumb across my cheek. "The first girl...who always made me feel loved. The girl I'll always love. I-I-I love you." Her voice cracked as she trails her fingers to my jawline. "I love you, A-Allison Argent."

Even after hers and Aiden's deaths, and the downfall of the Nogitsune, I still couldn't grasp that she was gone.

The ringtone of my phone goes off and I walk over to my purse, digging through until I found the device.

Lydia 🦋

I click the button to answer. "Hey. You make it home safe?"

"I did," I heard small shuffling in the background. "but I wanted to see if you're doing okay."

Tears begin to brim in my eyes. "Don't worry. I—"

"Allison." Her tone now firm. "I'm your best friend. You don't have to hide it if you are."

I lay flat on my back and put my phone on speaker with a sigh. "I could've saved her. If I was just aware of my surroundings, she would still—"

"You couldn't have been able to predict that. No one could."

"She wanted me to come home. She begged for me to turn away from the fight but I didn't listen. I don't know how I'm supposed to move on without her." I sobbed and wiped the tears with my sleeve. "I can't stop thinking about her."

"I know."

"We won. We just beat the Nogitsune," I turn to my side and see the picture frame that was of Olivia and I cuddling in the backseat of her car. "but why does it feel like I just lost?"

"Because you've lost a lot ever since you moved here, way more than anyone should have."

"I just feel so hollowed out through the inside. My aunt, my mom, and my girlfriend. All of them were taken from me. I feel more broken than I've ever felt in my life and I don't know how much pain I could take."

"You'll always have her in your heart. You told her once that she would never be alone. You'll always have us." She assured and I wipe my tears away. "As much as I don't want to end this phone call, my mom is giving me the look about going to bed so I have to get going. I'll come over in the morning and we can talk more, okay?"

"Okay."

"You should get some rest too. We've had a long week. Love you."

"Love you too." I rasp before I ended the call.

I expected my screen to turn off but it was in my photo album, almost as if it was the last thing I had left open.

The last person who had my phone was...Olivia.

I click open the photo album and it showed that a video had been recorded recently and the thumbnail was of Olivia.

She made this tonight.

I click play and in the video Olivia carefully placed my phone to lean against something to get herself full frame.

She sat on the edge of my bed with a sigh, rubbing her hands together before placing them on her knees. "Okay...uh, where do I start?" She muttered before she nervously laughed. "This is ridiculous. I'm getting nervous and you're literally downstairs making an arrowhead."

I smile, brushing my thumb across the screen. "Cute."

"I'll start by saying hi." She clapped her hands together before she cleared her throat. "Hey, Allison. If you're watching this then...that means something went wrong, but I don't want you to be sad. I used to view myself as a coward but when I met you, you changed my perspective about myself and I felt like I became a hero. I don't know, it sounds stupid now that I say it out loud." She chuckled softly.

"It's not stupid." I whisper with a sad smile. "You are a hero."

"Even if the Nogitsune planned my life out, for the first time I actually believed I could do the impossible, but I never imagined it would turn out like this. Repetitively seeing the vision of you dying in my arms, I knew I had to prevent it from happening and I'm glad I did whatever I did. Ever since I moved to Beacon Hills, I wouldn't change anything about my time with you, the girl who made me believe in love and the one who taught me that I'd never feel alone again, the most important girl to me in the world." Her voice slightly wavered and I let out a sob. "I wish I could be there to celebrate every new chapter, witness every success, and spend the rest of my life with you. Just know that no matter where you go in life, I'll always be by your side. I will always feel your love and support, pushing me to be the best person I can be. Thank you for continuously loving me even when I was stubborn and heartless at times where it was enough to break our relationship."

A couple tears trickled down from her eyes and she quickly wiped them away with her hand, causing my heart to clench even more. "Olivia..."

"I love you and...I'll see you when it's time." She finished and from the video, her phone started to ring which caused her to pull it out from her pocket. "Scott? You found her?" She questioned and her eyes slightly widen. "Okay, okay. Allison is downstairs so we'll meet you guys there. Bye." She quickly stands up from her spot and gives a small wave. "Goodbye Allison."

The video ends soon after and I press the phone against my chest before letting out a few more sobs escape from my lips.

FLASHBACK END

Despite the fact it had been a month after the whole incident, it still hurt but luckily not to the point where I didn't have the strength to get out of bed.

Don't get me wrong, I still missed her. It took a while for me to face the fact that she wasn't coming back and that I had to continue with my life by making sure to catch up on the lessons I missed so I could graduate on time.

Lydia and Kira (and sometimes Malia) tried their best to keep my head up high and because of that, we grew closer.

I'm grateful for them all.

"It might surprise you to know that some of history's greatest leaders have had to endure some pretty great failures." I look away from the desk once I heard Mr. Yukimura spoke out, causing me to quickly jot down his notes in my notebook. "One you'll recognize from last night's reading failed in business, had a nervous breakdown, was defeated for both houses of congress, and lost as Vice President, before he was finally elected as one of the greatest presidents that this country has ever seen. Who was he?"

Kira, Stiles (surprisingly) and I raise our hands, including several other people in the classroom, at the question to answer as Mr. Yukimura looks at each of us to choose who should answer.

He walks in front of his desk and leans against it. "Malia."

I slowly put my hand down and turn, seeing that she had a highlighter in her mouth with her eyes widened as she stopped underlining various sections of her notebook in a red pen.

I knew she didn't know the answer. For god's sake, she spent the majority of her life in the woods. It's not her fault.

A phone goes off from the front, causing Mr. Yukimura to give a stern look towards Scott. "Phones off, Scott." He looks back to Malia once more. "Malia, one of our greatest presidents? Gettysburg Address?"

Malia nods quickly and sticks the pen in her mouth as well, before flipping through the pages in her notebook.

My phone pings from my bag and I recognized the ringtone I set was for Lydia. Something definitely happened.

My phone pings again which earns another glare from Mr. Yukimura, catching me as I reach down to grab my phone. "Phones off, everyone." He looks back over to Malia. "Malia?"

She continued to flip through her textbook with an unsure expression and Mr. Yukimura sighs in frustration. "Does anyone else know?"

More hands than before shot up, but this time Scott, Stiles, Kira, and I kept ours down. It was embarrassing enough for Malia that she was the only one who didn't know that it was Lincoln.

Why did Mr. Yukimura have to put her through that?

Another phone chimes from the front. "I said, phones off!"

"Dad," Kira spoke up. "that was yours."

"Oh." He mumbled and turned, grabbing his phone from his jacket with his eyebrows furrowed. "Allison, call Lydia."

"I don't think he's just younger in body," Deaton explained as I helped Lydia bandage the wound on his arm. "I think he's younger in his mind, too."

"He didn't recognize either of us," Lydia added and tightened the rest of the gauze before pulling away. "And he looked like he was scared out of his mind."

"So if you're a teenage werewolf and you're scared, where do you go?" Stiles crossed his arms.

"A safe place so...home?" I suggest and place the rest of the bandages back on the metal table.

"Derek would go back to his loft then." Scott says but Stiles shakes his head.

"Not when he was a teenager."

"The Hale House," Lydia says and Deaton nods in agreement.

"He wouldn't have remembered the fire. It wouldn't have happened yet."

Scott and Stiles' eyes widen and quickly turn to go towards the door. "Wait," Lydia spoke up, causing them both to stop in their tracks. "Say you do manage to catch up to him, what are you doing to say to him? That his whole family is dead?"

Scott sighs. "I guess I'm going to have to."

"Oh, good luck with that." Lydia sarcastically responds.

"Yeah, I don't think I'd be too happy either if some complete stranger told me my entire family is dead." I hesitantly add. "And why put him through that again?"

"She's right." Stiles nodded his head in agreement. "Maybe you shouldn't. You know, at least until we figure out how to get him back to normal."

"I can't lie to him." Scott protested.

He shrugged. "Okay, I'll do it."

"I don't think any of us can. Remember, he can hear a heartbeat rising. When we find him, we tell him the truth."

"If he gets to the house first," Deaton spoke. "you won't have to."
