Fifteen
Olivia's POV:
I wince as soon as two players harshly slam against Liam to the ground. Brett easily maneuvers his way to the goal and throws the ball inside, scoring another point for his team.
Liam pushes himself up and drops his lacrosse stick on the ground, almost as if he was about to tackle the players. Scott and Stiles quickly rush to his side, pushing him back as the Devenford prep players cockily walked back to their positions.
"That should be a foul." I grumble, taking a couple of pieces of Phoebe's popcorn which causes her to turn away from her friend and Mason who sat beside her.
"Oh, sure Olivia. You can have some of my popcorn." Phoebe sarcastically remarked but I reached over again to grab a handful.
"Thanks, Priscilla." I innocently smile and toss the popcorn in my mouth.
"So you're Olivia?" Phoebe's friend asked with a curious expression. "Olivia Flores?"
I furrow my eyebrows in confusion. "Yeah, why?"
"O-Oh it's just—sorry. You were the talk of the town about the whole English-teacher-trying-to-kill-you situation a while back. I just wanted to see if you're doing okay." She offered her hand. "I'm Violet."
"Thanks." I shake her hand. "Nice to meet you."
The game starts again and luckily Stiles sweeps the ball and throws it to Kira's net which successfully lands inside.
I watch in awe as Kira instantly ran across the field, dodging every player she could. "Go, Kira!" I cheer as she spun around someone before giving an amazing shot that gave our team a point.
Everyone around us cheered, me along with them as I stood up from my spot to clap for her but Coach didn't seem pleased at the slightest.
"Yukimura! Get over here!"
She quickly jogs over to him as she took off her helmet, still holding a smile on her face. "Yes, Coach?"
He points to the bench behind us. "Take a seat. You're benched for the rest of the game."
Her eyes slightly widen. "What? Why?"
"You didn't pass."
"I had an open shot."
"The play was for you to pass. This is a scrimmage. It's about teamwork, Yukimura. So, you're benched." He pointed behind him once more and she defeatedly walks to sit behind him.
"It's okay Kira! You did amazing!" Phoebe assured and Kira gave a small smile as she sat down.
The game continued for a bit longer and I watch as Liam sprinted towards Brett who had the ball while another player I didn't recognize ran from behind him.
The three instantly slam into each other, causing the crowd the gasp as we heard cries of pain.
Both teams quickly rush to their players' aid, but I spot Stiles and Scott help Liam up from the ground. For Brett, however, he still laid in the field.
"Everyone back off!" Coach yelled as he checked Liam's condition before he approached the Devenford Prep player.
"Oh, man." Mason sighed as he looked between Brett and Liam. "I hope they're okay."
"Good thing Garrett didn't get hurt," Violet spoke as she fiddled with the necklace around her neck. "I'll be right back. I'm gonna get us some more snacks."
I watch Brett get escorted off the field by two lacrosse players and led him inside the locker rooms.
My phone buzzes in my pocket and I quickly pull it out, seeing Lydia's name come into the screen.

I quickly look up to the field and didn't see the two lacrosse players come out from the locker rooms.
Something wasn't right.
I shove my phone in my pocket. "I'll be right back. I have to take care of something." I say but Phoebe furrowed her eyebrows.
"Is everything okay?"
"Just stay here." I sternly emphasize before I carefully walk down the steps and quickly run to where they dragged off Brett.
I sprint through the school hallway until my eyes land on the unconscious players near the door.
The door to the locker-room was left wide open and I cautiously peek my head inside, seeing that Brett was sprawled flat on his stomach with his eyes shut.
I rush over to his side and press my fingers against his pulse, feeling it rapidly beat as if it was out of fear.
I was about to pull away until his eyes instantly shoot open, causing me to jump as his breath became panic-stricken as he looked up at me.
I reach to help him up but instantly feel something sharp push through my back and into my stomach. Before I could turn, a string swings over my head but I'm quick enough to slip through my fingers inside, feeling the wire burn as it tried to tighten around my throat.
She yanks me to stand up from the floor. "It's not the same as going after the alpha, but it's close enough." I hear a familiar voice say and from the reflection, I could see it was Violet who wore a smirk on her expression. "I've got a Phoenix. The dagger inside right now is what's making your powers weaken."
I elbow her stomach as I tried to fight her grips but it was almost as if my powers weren't working at all.
I feel my eyes flash orange as I tug harder at the wire that began to sizzle as it burned the sides of my neck, but my strength was weakening by the second.
I was running out of time.
I expected everything to go black, but instantly something metallic smacks against Violet's head which causes both of us to lurch forward.
I rip the wire off and toss it away to the side before turning around to see Violet had weakly lifted her head to look behind.
Standing behind was a fear-filled expression Phoebe who held a lacrosse stick in her hand as she stood behind Violet.
"What..." She panted as she tightly clutched onto the lacrosse stick. "just happened?"
Violet tries to stand but Phoebe swings the stick down again which knocks her unconscious once her head hits the ground.
"I'd answer but a little help would be nice." I grunt as I painfully lean against the wall. Phoebe dropped the stick and wrapped my arm around her neck to carefully sit me down on the bench.
"Why was Violet trying to kill you? Why—" Phoebe exasperated and tries to pull the dagger out but I stop her.
"D-Don't." A strike of pain causes me to wince. "You'll make it worse."
Footsteps echoed in the hallway and I looked to the doorway in time to see Scott and Stiles's eyes widen at the sight of Brett and Violet sprawled on the floor along with Phoebe and I resting on the bench.
"Uh..." Stiles trailed off as Scott picked up the necklace from the floor. "Did she...Is he...?"
"No, he's okay. I came in time before she could." I mutter and try to feel for the hilt of the dagger. "But she could've killed me if this one didn't follow me." I yank out the dagger, causing me to let out a small groan before I toss it to the side.
"Did Lydia send you the list?" Scott asked as he helped Brett from the floor to lean against the wall. "Is that why you came here?"
"What?" Phoebe furrowed her eyebrows. "What is he talking about? Why am I the only one freaking out about this? Why aren't we rushing you to the hospital right now?"
"You guys were still in the middle of your game. I went to make sure he was okay." I say and continued to ignore Phoebe's frantic questions.
"You should've at least told one of us. Olivia, they're professional killers!" Stiles gestured wildly which causes Phoebe's eyes to widen.
"Professional killers? What's going on?"
I roll my eyes in annoyance. "Way to go Stiles."
"I think you better call your dad," Scott said, looking to his best friend before his gaze lands on Phoebe. "And I need a favor from you."

"Dad, really. We're okay." Phoebe assured as our Dad tilted Phoebe's head around for any injuries. "She didn't hurt us."
He tries to check my wounds but I slap his hands away with a glare. "Don't even try it."
"I should've been here." He muttered and glared at Violet while she was getting handcuffed by Parrish as Sheriff Stilinski stood behind.
"Jordan Parrish?" Violet asked with an eyebrow raised.
"Deputy Parrish." He sternly corrected and escorted her out of the hallway.
"Sheriff, what is that?" Scott's dad asked nearby, pointing to the evidence bag that had Violet's necklace. "Is that the weapon?"
"Yeah. It's a thermo-cut wire." Stilinski answered and I glance over to Scott who was already watching Violet walk away with a smirk on her face.
"Parrish hold on." Agent McCall calls out as he quickly walks with the Sheriff.
"Look, I have to head back to work. You think you guys can head home safely?" Our dad asked and I numbly nod, adjusting my sweater to hide my neck. "Good." He follows behind them and Phoebe and I walk over to where Liam and Scott stood, noticing how Kira wasn't around.
"Where's Kira?"
Liam hesitantly glances over to Phoebe but I shake my head. "She took off. Stiles told her about Lydia cracking the second part of the list." He explained and Scott's expression drops into realization.
"Her mom's on it."
"Everyone's on it." I emphasize and Liam's posture stiffens. "I mean, except for you."
"Not yet." Liam crossed his arms. "There's still another third, right?"
"Coach, I'm gonna need both Garrett and Violet's locker numbers." We hear Sheriff Stilinski order. "And someone find me a set of bolt cutters."
I pull Scott to the side. "This is the one chance we have if you want to search Garrett's lacrosse locker first before the police do." I whispered to Scott but took notice of Phoebe trying to listen. "Phoebe."
"What? You guys promised you would tell me everything if I covered for you so at least tell me the plan."
"You're not going to be doing anything. This is as much as you're experiencing tonight." I sternly order.
"Olivia I can—"
"Can you guys fight later? Just help me while Liam and Phoebe keep watch." Scott scolded as he grabbed my arm to drag me inside the locker room.
"Scott, she's supposed to stay out of this. She has no idea what she's getting herself into." I glare as I searched through the aisle where Garrett's locker was. "Thankfully she didn't see me use my powers but who knows when someone will go after her and use her as bait."
"Well isn't that how you came in the group?" Scott raised an eyebrow, stopping in front of a locker.
I punch his arm which causes him to softly chuckle. "That's different!"
"Okay, Olivia." He sighed and ripped the padlock from the door and opened the locker, revealing only extra gear and a red duffel bag.
"I think someone's coming!" Liam whisper-shouted to us.
"What's taking so long?" Phoebe whispered as well. "Hurry!"
I quickly pull the zipper to open the bag and once I pull the flap back, my breath hitches at the sight in front of me.
"You find anything?"
I was about to answer but Scott covers my mouth, giving me a stern look. "No." He answered for me and my eyes widen in shock but he gives me a look to stay quiet.
"It's nothing."
