12 | Cinema Date

I looked at my watch.

Oh no, I am late.

I had been so engrossed in doing research for my blog that I had lost track of time. I jumped up from my chair, quickly threw a few necessary intems in my bag, grabbed my keys, and put shoes, a scarve, and my jacket on - then I was out the door.

Today, I really had no luck. I saw the clouds over my head get darker by the second. With quick steps, I sped to the station where the bus would take me to the cinema. There was nothing more satisfying than watching a movie in a small cinema when it was cold and dark outside.

Cinema feels like a second home to me.

I exited the bus and checked the time again. Great, 15 minutes left until the movie started and a 10-minute walk ahead of me. I would be right on time.

Just as I turned to the direction of the cinema, did the sky open up and heavy raindrops poured down on me, soaking my clothes quicker than I could realize that my luck really had run out.

I tucked a wet lock of my medium-long curls away from my eyes and behind my ear. Yesterday, I had cut my hair. Today, the short, now wet curles bounced upwards, turning my hair quickly into an even more uncontrollable mess. I really loved my hair, but today, nothing really had gone according to plan, and that frustrated me.

At least they will dry quicker.

"Hi, sorry," did a voice pull me out of my thoughts. I turned around and saw a young man around my age with an umbrella looking at me curiously. "I know this is very random, but - are you alright?"

I looked dumbfounded at him and thought about the sight I must present from his perspective. A girl standing unmovingly and lost in thought in the middle of a heavy downpour without an umbrella or even a waterproof jacket.

"Hi, yes, don't worry. I just forgot my umbrella because I left my flat last minute. I should've checked the weather forecasting. But thanks for asking," I said a bit embarrassed.

He nodded and proposed kindly: "If you want and if we have the same way - I do not mind sharing my umbrella."

I was a bit unsure, but he did seem like a nice person, and it really was raining heavily. "Are you by any chance also on your way to the cinema?" did I reply.

He started to smile and nodded: "Yes! Are you also going to watch 'The Boy and the Heron'?"

"Yes, oh my God! What are the odds," did I say excitedly. I started to reconsider my luck: I had just met a very kind person, good looking at that and with great movie taste.

Together, we headed to the cinema, engrossed in deep conversation on Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki movies.
