1.School

The alarm blared out beeps, signaling that it was six in the morning.

With a groan, my hand moved lazily to find the snooze button.

A groggy mumble escaped my lips as I slipped on my pink slippers and walked into the bathroom, starting the normal weekday as usual. Brush teeth, shower, eat breakfast, edit the finishing touches of the article written for the Occult club, and then head to school. But today seemed a tad bit off. That's when it hit me like a brick, mom is still at Granny Riddles.

"Unique, wake the hell up and get ready for school!" I hollered at the door before shuffling downstairs into the kitchen, placing a sunny side up egg on her plate. I opened the fridge only to see no milk but an abundance of eggs.

"God damn it we are out of milk. Unique! We're out of milk!"

"I don't care right now!" My younger sister yelled from the second-floor bathroom.

"Wait till you want your cereal, then you'll complain." I pinched in between my nose bridge and rested his back upon the counter with my still damp brown hair slightly dripping water. "How does mom do it?"

"How does she do what?" Unique sat at the table in her school uniform, tightening her tie before sipping her orange juice.

"Take care of us. Honestly, Unique, do you listen? She has been a single mom ever since I was a toddler." I said with her plate of food sliding it over to her and sitting in front of my adorable little sister rubbing my aching temples.

"You seem distressed. What's wrong?"

She moved her glass to the side and looked at me, her older brother, with a raised eyebrow.

"The club is wanting me to write a gossip column. Just because I know the popular people." I face planted in the table with a groan of despair. The gossip column will be nothing but a shade fest on my part, and I tried to keep it on the down low.

"There, there Carson. Just talk to Cara, Jason, and Rose. I'm sure they know things about the others about the school. And Abby doesn't strike me as a person who would want a gossip column." Unique played with one of her blond spiraled curl pigtails.

"But everything about everyone is embarrassing and fun to spread around apparently. And I mainly write about recent events." I felt bad for lying but I continued to look at her before looking at the time on my watch. "It's seven. Want to get going?"

Unique nodded as she picked up her school bag and headed out through the garage. I quickly went to the bowl and picked up the car keys and slung my messenger back across the left shoulder.

I threw my bag on Unique before starting up the slightly used 2012 Nissan Altima. Younger siblings are great.

"Why did mom put you in the private school? I'm stuck in public school."

I pulled out from the driveway and closed the garage, looking behind my for incoming vehicles as my sister spoke.

"Maybe because you were the test child. I mean you are kinda angsty and cold. Not to mention shady." Giving her a side glance, I glared an icy gaze her direction.

"And there it is." Unique tapped on my head with a slight giggle.

A few minutes of driving we pulled up to Saint Lydia's Private School.

"Try not to get in trouble Unique... I take that back if a bitch tries you... Kick her ass into next year."

"Got it, big bro, you too!" Unique dashed out of the car with a bright smile.

"How can she smile as she goes into hell?" I smiled and waved at her before I began to drive to Grimsby South High School.

The high school looked ancient but had a certain modern style to it. The walls were brick and the interior looked like a prison with its sectioned in halls.

"Time to put on a smile and act like you care about other people's problems..." I hit my head on the steering wheel for a few moments before getting out of the car and looked slightly annoyed with each step I took until I walked through the doors of the high school.

The first one to speak with to me was Cara, the cheer captain. She had your typical blonde hair, with moss green eyes, her skin was the color of hot caramel and her features were comparable to that of a Goddess. Her figure was plumper amd muscular than the rest of the girls in the cheer squad. If her and Jason we're to fight, I'd place my bet on her.

"Hey, Carson! Why do you look so down in the dumps?" Cara's cheeky attitude was sickeningly sweet, like rich candy. But I do admire her willingness to make my day better. And to be honest; it does.

"Maybe it's waking up to school and learn worthless trivia you might not need to know later in life."

Cara laughed." You need to lighten up! But so does Gloom Blo- I mean Abby." Cara shook her head and I swear I saw a few brain cells fly away but it isn't her fault she isn't the brightest.

"I'm not gloomy I just can't stand bullshit. How are ya doing Carson?"

Abigail or 'Abby' Bloom stood next to me rummaging through our shared Locker. A short girl with the temperament of a paranoid person and a flip persona of an antihero. So an overall great person. Her medium length brunette hair reached down to her shoulder blades and usually let go free. Her facial features aren't anything special, but her piercing grey eyes are the main feature and made her surprisingly intimidating. She never comes to school all dressed and dolled up like the majority of the girls, her favorite outfit is an oversized sweater and sweatpants with her rectangle glasses with a matte black frame.

"Where did my notebook go?"

Seeing as she was about to lose it. I was about to turn away before she actually lost it...

That is until she got a fistful of mine and Cara's hair.

"We don't know Abby! Please let go! I just got it done!" Cara squealed out as her hands flew in many directions into the air.

I didn't fight Abby, more so.. I couldn't fight Abby. This is a battle everyone will lose no matter how strong they are. I instead got out her notebook and gave it to her. That's right. I stole her notebook of writing. But how can you place blame on me? Her writing is phenomenal.

"Great stories as always Abby, I just thought it was the notes from science yesterday," I said blatantly lying to her in the process.

Abby slapped her locker partner in the head. "You know it wasn't, jackass! You just wanted to read the chapter before anyone else didn't you, Carson Noah Owens?"

Quickly before my death commenced, I raised his hands in defeat. "You got me. Speaking of people who are deceitful. Where is Rose?"

The trio of us looked around but instead of finding the tall slim goth looking girl who seemed kinda depressing. She had long black hair that reached down her lower back and her bangs were long and covered her left eye. She always wore black, purple, but next to her we also found the roller derby captain and punk, Jason. Jason had mohawk colored a dark blue, which was against the school rules and always plaid in leather. He was well built and more for strength than he is for any agile work. I do know he does spar with the Boxing team and run with the cross country people. But he has done a lot of illegal stuff, so placing him in the category of athletes isn't the best idea.

"Yo! How's it going Cara, Carson? And you Ms.Bloom" Jason said, slightly hunched over to meet Abby eye to eye. A Bad move.

"You know, your head will be rolling faster than Tina turner down a damn river If you start. Remember fifth grade? She demolished you." Scoffed Cara as she began to file her nails as Abby proudly smirked.

I only gave a light chuckle. "Man, you guys are crazy. I'm glad I'm the only sane one."

My three 'friends' looked over with the 'Yeah keep telling yourself that hon' expression then proceeded to laugh.

"You all are fucking assholes."

The fly on the wall witch girl known as Rosaria, the leader of the Occult club shuffled over to me with her long black hair covering her left eye. She tugged on my sleeve, getting my attention swiftly. "Have you all heard the news?"

Everyone, including me, looked at her with raised eyebrows.

"Speak of the devil," Jason said as he looked over a crowd of people surrounding one guy.

"Apparently that is the new student. A pretty one at that and kinda cool."

Both Abby and Cara groaned. Yet another person to compete with to be on the top.

I closed my locker with my foot and locked it, spinning the dial at the three. "Don't we have Study Hall to go to?"

They nodded as they headed off to their Study Hall room, I got a glimpse of a person. He had short black hair and had an overall punk like esthetic. He looked skinny and had piercings in his face and ears.

Although that could be just a slip up as my imagination runs wild like a pack of wolves.

I shook my head and caught up with the rest of the group. "Damn hallucinations."

"Why did classes have to start back up? Why did summer have to eeeennd? You guuuuyyyyssss!" Cara whined to her friends as they walked down the halls. Her arms connected Jay and Abby by their necks.

"Cara, Darling. Do me a favor. Shut up. Just like..be quiet for like five minutes. Can you do that challenge? Okay? Yes? Good." Abby looked at the pouting cheerleader whose arm she was removing.

"Finally some Silence! SING HALLELUJAH!" Jason yelled causing him to receive dirty looks from the hall teachers. "Geez, tough crowd eh Abby?"

"Yeah, tough crowd." She rolled her eyes and turned to me. "So have you figured out what to write about for the Journalism club and school Newspaper?"

"Not yet, but if what Rosaria is saying about the new kid is true I may do an interview with him." Carson gave a shrug and walked as Abby wiggled her eyebrows.

"Someone must be thinking of the new kid-" She sang... Horribly.

"Who isn't?" Cara interrupted Abby's horrible singing. "Hell even I am thinking about him!"

Jason just scratched his head as the group talked. "Why am I even friends with you three in the first place? I mean all of us are totally different. I'm a rebel, Cara is a Cheerleader, Carson is Gay, Rosaria is a weirdo, and Abby is..well, you know, a small monster with a coffee addiction."

"That's an easy answer, you fought Carson and won and now you hang out with him. So the question for us is why do you hang around us?" Cara said flicking his nose with a slight chuckle. Before he had a word escape from his mouth Cara spoke. "We have to get to class, Sis'."
