Shoto Todoroki had no idea what was going on. Ever since the dorms got installed on school campus, he felt like he was getting along much better with the other students. However today...

... it seemed like everyone was ignoring him.

It started when he woke up and passed Bakugou in the hallway outside his door. While normally they don't share secrets or bake cookies together, Shoto would still consider Bakugou a friend: after all, they do normally exchange greetings... in Bakugou's normal way.

So when Bakugou passed and didn't do his normal shout of 'Don't come too close Icy-Hot, or I'll blow you up', Shoto got confused.

It got worse when he entered the kitchen to grab a small snack, and found Izuku baking with Sato, but not greeting him. Izuku simply got flustered, tried to cover up what they were doing with his back, and asked Shoto what he wanted. Once Shoto answered with "A snack." Izuku simply chucked him a small bowl of cold soba that they must've made in advance. After Shoto grabbed onto the bowl, he was shoved back out of the kitchen.

The remainder of the day went in a similar fashion. Everyone he passed had little to no conversation to give him, and only a couple people responded to greetings. He hadn't even seen Uraraka or Iida today, and his other really close friend - Izuku - seemed to just be stuck in the kitchen, which he wasn't allowed inside. Heck, he even saw Bakugou enter the kitchen and join in whatever Izuku and Sato were doing for a while! He felt so alone.

... while he didn't expect anyone to remember it was his birthday, he also didn't expect to be so isolated on the day while he was living on campus.

Shoto sighed, deciding to spend the remainder of his birthday alone in his bedroom. At least then he can choose to be alone, instead of being purposefully isolated.

After a couple hours the sun began to set, and Shoto prepared to go downstairs to get some dinner, when someone knocked on his bedroom door.

"Izuku? What are you doing here?" He enquired politely, opening the door.

"I'm here to get you!" He said, enveloping Shoto in a hug.

"I - Izuku?" Shoto stammered, his face heating up.

"Oh I forgot to tell you..." Izuku whispered, lifting his face to Shoto's ear. Shoto's face burned even brighter, obviously an affect of his quirk... somehow.

"Happy Birthday! It's supposed to be a complete surprise, but I know you don't like loud noises. We've prepared a small party for you - everyone will probably shout 'happy birthday' at you as you enter so I wanted to make sure I warned you first."

Izuku drew his head back and gasped. "Shoto? W - Why are you crying? Did I do or say something wrong? I'm so sorry!"

As Izuku began to ramble apologies, Shoto gently tapped the side of his face with his fingers. When he brought them back into his line of sight, they were glistening with tears.

"Oh... I'm crying..." He muttered to himself, catching Izuku's attention.

"I'm sorry, Shoto!" He bowed, and Shoto flushed, realising how upset he must've made Izuku.

"No, no, it's okay Izuku!" He said, copying Izuku's flustered hand waves. "I'm just..."

He wiped the remainder of his tears away and glanced at Izuku with a soft smile.

"I'm just so happy I have such great friends."
