III
My eyes open and I sit up, taking in the familiar surroundings.
I must have fallen asleep on my couch. I chuckle and stand, stretching. I walk into the kitchen and make a pot of coffee, humming Without You by Oh Wonder.
I bite my lip at the thought of my plans for today. I grab my coffee mug and pour in the fresh coffee. I take a sip and sigh, feeling the warm beverage make its way to my stomach. The warmth spreads and consumes my lower abdomen, making its way to my chest. I smile and finish my cup of bitter coffee and run into my bedroom.
I run to my closet and throw on some red plaid over a black t-shirt. I put on some black ripped skinny jeans and my favorite pair of converse. (Because that's not cliche AT ALLLLLLLLLLLLL!) I grab my yellow umbrella and sprint outside. (How I Met Your Mother reference!!) I look around and smile, seeing Thomas locking his door behind him.
"Hey, Thomas!" I yell over to him. He looks up at me and smiles. I swear, I feel my heart melt.
It suddenly starts to pour and I smile, my eyes wide. I hear see Thomas throw his hands in the air and groan.
"Hold on, I have an umbrella!" I shout, sprinting over to him. I open the umbrella over us and smile. "Thanks." He says, laughing. (Every time I write Thomas laughing, I swear, I can hear him. Its great to hear my smolish bean bein' the happs!)
I smile and walk with him, the umbrella over us. We walk for a while, exchanging slight conversation but I was mostly just enjoying the scenery.
I suddenly get a devilish idea and I smile to myself. It was still pouring so I suddenly close the umbrella, causing us to both become soaking wet. Thomas tries to snatch the umbrella but I run ahead and laugh maniacally. I keep running, seeing the park getting closer.
I finally make it to the deep green grass and look back, seeing Thomas close behind. I laugh and bring up my speed, feeling myself slip slightly on the wet grass.
(I think you guys know where this is going.)
I feel someone grab my wrist. I shout, turning back and seeing Thomas. I laugh and try to pull away from him. I fail and slip, falling on my back. My weight brought Thomas down on top of me.
Our laughing ceases and I stare into his eyes.
I shake my head and clear my throat in awkwardness. "Oh, yeah... Sorry." Thomas says, standing and helping me up. I laugh and dust myself off, failing miserably.
"So... That was fun!" I chuckle and shove him. He shoves back and I fall on my butt... Again.
He starts laughing. "Oh, my gosh! Are you okay?" He manages to ask through his fits of giggles. I roll my eyes and take his hand, helping him bring me up.
We walk a little farther but Thomas strays back. After a little while I look back to see him pointing a stick at me. I raise an eyebrow.
"Thomas... What are you doing?" I ask him.
"My name is Prince Charming and I challenge you to a duel, you heathen!" He shouts in a weird voice.
I laugh and raise my umbrella. "You'll never take the princess!" He smacks the umbrella with the stick and I laugh as we go into full sword fighting attack mode.
I hit the stick so hard it flies out of his hand. I take this as an opportunity to jump forward and press the umbrella to his throat, my face twisted into a snarl.
I slide the umbrella as if I was slitting his throat, seeing the yellow cloth slightly drag across his chin. He falls to the ground and sticks his tongue out, shutting his eyes tightly.
I chuckle and put out my hand. Thomas peeks out of his left eye and smiles, grabbing my hand and standing.
"So, Prince Charming, are you saving princesses or princes?" I ask.
"Princes, right now." He says, smiling and walking down the small paved path.
"Oh, really?" I ask, swinging the umbrella.
"Yep! Well, how about you, heathen?"
"Princes, same as you." I chuckle and open my mouth, letting the raindrops fall in. I look over and see that small raindrops were clinging to his hair. I smile, taking in his features.
He was very good looking, with his dark brown eyes and perfect teeth. When he laughs or smiles, his eyes crinkle at the sides and his voice was like melted chocolate, smooth and sweet.
I snap out of my trance and chuckle, blushing. I rub the back of my neck.
"Hey... What's the back story of that song you were singing?" I ask.
"Well... First loves are hard. That's all I can say." He explains. I nod, thinking.
"Yeah, I get it. I just broke up with my boyfriend. He cheated on me but, I think I'm already over him. I feel like he was dragging me down, you know?" I ask him, running a hand through my hair.
"He cheat on you with a man or woman?" Thomas asks.
"Woman... And I thought he was gay!" I chuckle. I feel Thomas' hand on my shoulder. I relax a little and smile.
"But, hey! Like I said, I think I'm over it!"
"What do you mean, you think?"
"Well, it was literally yesterday and I feel happy!" I say, shrugging.
"You know, you don't have to be sad after a break up. Hey, I think it would be okay to be with someone after a break up if you're feeling well enough. Because some people are just... Horrible, you know? And if you break up with them, you feel free. And nothing can stop you." Thomas explains.
I feel someone grab my hand and intertwine their fingers with mine. I gasp and look down, seeing Thomas holding my hand. I look up at him and see him blushing madly. I chuckle and lean my head on his shoulder, smiling.
---
I walk over to my door, Thomas following me.
"Just being a gentleman." He says after I ask him why he's still following me.
"So, today was fun!" I say, smiling. "Yeah... It was fun."
I smile and bring my face to Thomas', hesitantly connecting my lips with his.
The kiss was small. Short and sweet. His lips tasted of butterscotch and vanilla. I smile and break the kiss, biting my lip.
"Do you... Wanna come inside?" I ask, looking into his eyes.
He nods and I chuckle, standing aside and opening the door.
(THERE WILL BE NO SMUTTY SMUT IN THIS BOOK! JUST NICE LITTLE FLUFFY FLUFF! I AM PRETTY GOOD AT WRITING SMUT BUT I JUST DON'T WANT TO PUT IT IN HERE BECAUSE THOMAS MAY READ THIS, OKAY?! JUST... SHHHHHH!)
