Chapter Three : Years Later

7th grade, Your POV

I was sitting on the benches, where I used to sit when we were in 1st grade and waiting for the others. Except that I'm the first here our of our group, I never expected it anyways. I saw as Brendon and Patrick entered the school, the difference between their personalities were so obvious it was funny.

Patrick came wearing a black fedora and a blue jacket, white shirt and uniform pants. Meanwhile Brendon wore a purple sweater and blue jeans. I don't know which one of them is crazy.

I kept a smile on my face, though. My h/c hair was in its own comfortable style along with my choice of clothes. When Gerard walked in with his brother, I saw the hugest difference in Patrick and him ever.

One has class and the other is all sass.

Melanie, the girl we met in 3rd grade, she came in after him and had been on her phone. All of us soon got together and talked. "So I was thinking," Patrick started. "Uh oh. You know it's dangerous when this goofball thinks." Gerard joked. "Oh hush." Brendon chuckled. They're best friends now. I respected that, just, my crushes are best friends? Well mines isn't here yet. Nyla takes a while to get here.

"What if we were all in a band!" Patrick jumped. A very sarcastic smile appeared on Gerard's face. "I wouldn't dream of it." He said plainly.

"Gerard don't he rude." I said. "And half of us don't know how to use instruments. How do you think we're gonna be able to do a whole band?" I said. "Well, me, Gerard, Brendon, Tyler, Josh and Nyla can play instruments." Patrick stated. "You and Melanie would be left to vocals!" He jumped up.

I chuckled. "Patrick, I hate you sometimes." I said. "Don't we all?" Gerard added. I snorted. "You.. sound like a piggy.." Brendon wheezed. "Don't forget your inhaler then, zipper!" Gerard defended me. I loved to see them play. They were hilarious.

Our teacher now, Ms. Curlin, took us to the classroom. I saw Nyla sitting at Ms. Curlin's desk. I smiled at her, sitting at my own desk in the back of the room. Of course my friend group joined me. When class started, all joining, our group was the only ones who looked most innocent. Other people started talking to Gerard. Their school ID cards, they said Frank Iero and Ray Toro. They caught his attention better than we would.

I sighed. My smile draining from my face and, when I noticed that Frank boy made Gerard turn a bright pink color. I hugged my arms in disbelief. It was whatever, anyways. He isn't that cute.

All three of them looked like an emo trinity. They were edgy and all wearing dark colors. I scratched at my wrists, where our friendship bracelet is. My urge to say something almost overcame my forcing of myself to stay silent.

Throughout the day Gerard didn't talk to us as much, he found that other group. I wanted to go over and keep him with us, but I decided to stay in my lane. I decided he will be back, like before.

But the whole group wasn't worried about me. They barely even talked to me. Nyla went home early, no one talked to me. At PE, girls came up to me. I'm not the type to talk to anyone. They told me I was satisfactory in appearance but I could look better, I said no thank you.

They didn't like it. They told me I should just agree, but I don't want to. I'm not girly like that. I'm not even 100% girly. I personally prefer the they/them/their pronouns. Everyone doesn't respect that, though. I've gotten used to it. Either way they'll say I'm too young to be dwelling on sexuality or genders.

At the end of the day, we waited near the trees and flowers. Birds caught my attention, white doves, sparrows and pigeons. I sat near the tree stump and sat near the small birds, the doves chirping sweetly next to me.

"You look so precious over here, Y/n." Brendon said, sitting next to me. I blushed softly, the soft light pink color spreading across my s/c face. The birds, they melted my stress faster. A squirrel ran up the tree, carrying an acorn.

"Did you know most doves are lesbians?" Brendon said, feeding a bright white dove some of his sandwich bread. "That's so cute." I aww'd. I felt so much like a nerd, we're two teenagers sitting here watching birds and talking. We seemed like a couple.

The bell rang. "Hey, this weekend my parents are having a party for my cousin, Jaylen. I got everyone else of our friend group to come, are you coming?" Brendon asked me, helping me up. "Absolutely. I'll talk to my mom about it." I nodded. Brendon let out an adorable giggle. "Yay! See you tomorrow!" He said, leaving. I watched him go with Patrick.

I walked out the gate alone. When I got home I talked to mom about it, she agreed. As long as she gets to be alone with my step-dad, she's fine.

That night I stayed up thinking. I imagine at my own times, sometimes even act out my own scenarios. I laid in my bed underneath the f/c blankets and hugging my pillows, that had the design of elephants.

I soon drifted to sleep. My thoughts, creating a imagination of Brendon and I. As elders, sitting at a park, feeding birds and there for a birthday party. My birthday party. I smiled to myself as the imagination turned into a dream.

If only, if only this were true. I don't think I have feelings for Brendon, right?
