Ring Ring

Wally West sped over to pick up his phone, noticing his boyfriends name at the top.

It was late in Gotham and Wally wasn't sure why Dick would be calling him at this time.

Perhaps he had a nightmare.

"What's up?" The ginger replied,"You're not calling to cancel our date tomorrow are you?"

Dick let out a small laugh,"Actually... I might just have to."

"Really? Dude, not cool! That's like the third time you've had to cancel."

"Sorry, I just really can't make it. I would if I could." He sounded sad. No, he sounded exhausted and on the verge of tears.

"Yeah, yeah, just know that I'm upset and you need to make up for this."

Dick remained silent over the phone.

"Are you okay?"

It took a while for him to reply,"Wally... I want you to know that I love you, alright? I don't think I tell you this enough. You make me happy in every way possibly whether it's your goofy smile or dorky personality. I'm so grateful to have spent this past year with you."

"Dick, where is this coming from?" The speedster began to grow worried.

"No where... I just needed to tell you and let you know. You know.... since I don't get to tell you on all those dates I keep cancelling." His voice sounded strained.

"You're not having a nightmare?"

"No, not a nightmare,"He paused,"I have to go... Bye Wally.... I love you ."

Wally didn't want to hang up, but he knew he didn't have much of an option,"Call me tomorrow morning. Maybe we can talk about rescheduling our date. Love you, babe."

He heard the click of the phone go off, implying that Dick had hung up. He decided to call Bruce.

"Wallace, should I even ask why you're calling me?"

"Sorry, Dick just seemed slightly upset when he called me earlier, maybe you can check on him for me?" He knew that Batman would be worried enough for his protege to ignore the fact that Wally was bothering him.

"I'm not at home. I'm in an off-world mission with the League. I can still call him if you think it's necessary."

Wally sighed,"Oh.... sorry for bugging you... I'm sure he's fine."

The two then hung up.

"Of course he's fine. Stop being so paranoid," Wally murmured to himself as he decided to get ready for bed,"How much trouble could he even have gotten himself into?"

Wally felt the life drain from his as the news of what happened to his boyfriend was told to him. There would be no planning another date. There would be no more long phone calls between the two.

Robin had gone out on patrol all by himself....

"Why.... why did you do that?" Wally felt tears fall from his eyes.

Dick was dead.

Robin the Boy Wonder was dead.

The love of his life was dead.
