Alan's pov

My dad sat in a chair and was humming as his fingers mess with my hair. My vision was blurry but I knew it was him. His smile, not like any other. The beard he could never grow, just pinches of hair here and there.

"He's just afraid, but you'll find a way. You'll be lead there." Echoed as things went dark.

When I was able to see again he was gone, and so was the chair that was beside my bed. The light badly crept into my room, and the words that once echoed was gone. They were replaced with a blaring noise in my ear, pretty close by. I rolled over on a lumpy part of my pillow. I slide my hand under it and pull out my phone. I glance at the time and it read 8:41.

I shove the covers off me immediately and jump out of bed. I start to run to the door only trip over the covers that I had thrown onto the floor. But I jump right back up and run out my room to the bathroom. I'm fixing my hair while doing my teeth at the same time.

I can hear mom snoring as I run to the kitchen. I whip up some toast with butter and manage to find a banana that didn't look too brown. I almost run out the house without changing out of my sleepwear. I take a half hour doing that and making sure I have my house key before leaving. If only I had a car, is one of the thoughts that constantly run through my mind. The another is that Blue is going to kill me.

Not only did I not turn in the packet that my mom signed saying I could go on the field trip, that was due last Friday. Now I was late for class if I decided to go to if I didn't go on the trip. A guy from our school staff that planned this trip even said people could still go if we at least came with the paper signed today on time.

As soon as I step out the door my phone goes off in my pocket. I pull it out while closing the door, to see Sawyer is calling. I have a bunch of text messages and missing calls. I answer with a sigh as I pull out my keys with my free hand and lock the door.

"WHERE ARE YOU?! YOU WERE SUPOOSED TO BE HERE TWENTY MINUTES AGO?!" Sawyer's voice booms in my ears, causing me to move back from my phone, and to put him on speaker.

"You're going to wake up the whole neighborhood, especially since you're on speaker now if you keep screaming like that." I reply as I start running to the direction of my school.

"You missed the bus here, you missed roll call. You didn't even turn in your paper on time! Bob was looking for you!! And your friends are looking for you!!!" Sawyer yells but not too loud this time.

"What do you mean he was? He bailed on me and my friends?" I huff as I slow down my running, panting a little.

"Well he stopped looking and waiting, which I would have to." Sawyer huffs, making me roll my eyes. "The four of us was blowing you up, you just now answered. So the three of us assumed you were sleeping in, maybe even skipping. By three I mean Landon didn't know why you weren't picking up." He explains. "Bob even looked around in the school building with Kaden and not just the school grounds. Landon mostly did that- wait where is Bob now?!"

I jump a little and frown picking up speed again. "What do you mean where's Bob?"

"I mean him and his stuff is gone!!! And people are boarding the bus." Sawyer sighs and coughs a little from all his shouting.

I hear some rustling for a second then a new voice speaks. "Hey, I got a message for you." Kaden says as Sawyer is yelling- croaking in the background.

"What? I don't have the time for it. Where did Blue go?" I demand puffing out air a little as the school starts to come into my view.

"Away, now listen otherwise you won't be able to find him." Kaden scoffs, and I'm sure he was rolling his eyes at me. "Remember where we had our Halloween party?"

"At the school?" I raise an eyebrow and hear a smack on the other end.

"You sound like Landon, at the field you dumbass." Kaden sighs and I hear Landon cry out something, obviously offended.

"Why would he be at the field?" I ask as I get to school grounds, and slightly see Kaden by the bus with a few others outside as a teacher tes students to get on.

"Just forget about coming here, Bob is there and I advise you to go." Kaden suggests before hanging up on me before I could say any more.

I groan loudly and start heading to the back of the school behind anything I could hide by. If the teacher caught me or a student that would tell I was going to be in deep shit. Well it seems like I was either way now. I called Sawyer back and told him to hold the bus, hearing a bunch of groans and hang up before Sawyer could protest.

I ran through the alley, had to climb the gate but it didn't look as trashy and gave bad vibes like it did that Halloween night. Stacie came to mind, I was crazy for that girl.... The image of Blue and I kissing flooded my mind. Crazy how disgusted I may have been by it, but now I would be smiling like a dumbass if we could kiss right now.

The field was clear, not crowded with tables and people, or trashed with party plastic red cups and paper plates. The grass wasn't halfway dying but was a bright green, clovers everywhere, and even some small yellow flowers along with dandelions here and there.

My eyes followed the lovely sight until they met some dried up muddy shoes. My eyes traveled up to see Blue staring at me with a pink scrunched up face, the sun shining down on him.

"Are you mad?" Are the first words to leave my mouth, and he opens his mouth but closes it staring at me for a while.

"Somewhat, I'm passing up on this trip just to see you."

"Well I made it in time...well in a way."

"Why didn't you turn in your form on time?" his voice starts out high but crumbles as he looks down.

"Well I wanted to spite you...I was gonna turn it secretly but you guys never gave me enough alone time to do so."

"Oh bullshit." He stares at me again, but with his eyes narrowed. "Even if that is true, that's a horrible excuse. But I didn't want you to come here to curse you out."

"Sure seems like it." I huff gripping the straps on my backpack, as I slumped my shoulders a little to get comfortable. "No need to lie."

He mutters under his breath before sucking in his breath and letting it out. "Look, you told me you liked me...and I didn't really give you my honest answer."

"You didn't really give me an answer at all-"

"I like- pff." a huge green leaf was blown into his face, making me snicker. "UGH YOU KNOW WHAT I WAS GOING TO SAY!" he smacks the leaf onto the ground staring at it with glassy eyes and a dark pink face.

I sigh softly and cup his face but his eyes doesn't leave the ground, only casting lower. "Why are you always crying." I wipe his eyes gently and bend down picking up a dandelion, before sliding it behind his ear.

He finally looks up at me, his face shading darker. I smile and start to lean in, only for the wind to blow. All the seeds from the flower fly up and the stem falls to the ground. We glance up watching the seeds fly away or back on the ground. I glance back at Blue only for his face to be closer and his lips pressed against mine. He pulled away with a smile smile, both our faces were pink now.

This was an idea I had some years back. I will of course be making adjustments, such as his age. But stay tuned for more information on this book and probably other future works of mine!
