"Have you heard from Ty recently?"

"No why,"

"He hasn't been returning my calls,"

"It's probably nothing, besides who even calls anymore you could just text like a normal person,"

"Ha, ha very funny," Alex said but her eyes still flitted down to her phone screen , her worriment seeping onto her face

"Hey," I said "It's probably nothing ok, you shouldn't worry about it," I assured

She nodded but it seemed like I wasn't getting through to her so I quickly changed the subject

"I hope it's ok that I invited someone to the aquarium?" I asjed, hopefully she would answer and forget about the whole Ty thing.

"Well I guess... who is it?" she asked still frowning

"Jamie from Biology," I said

At that she turned her head ,

"A boy? Like a real boy?" She asked a smile on her face slowly

"No, pinnochio's hot older brother"

She rolled her eyes

"Yes, a real boy"

"I can't believe it! Project get Erica a boyfriend is back on," she explained. A full blown smile had broken out over her face and I was content that she had finally forgot about Ty,

"So, now that we've got a potential match we-"

"Hello Ladies" a voice called out from behind us

"Hey Lia" we chorused

Lia was more Joey's friend than ours. She was better than a lot of Joey's companions so we hung out with her more

"So what are we talking about?" She asked

Alex filled her in as we slowed down to allow her to catch up.

"Jamie... I guess he's cute but he's pretty quiet though, doesn't talk much,"

"You find fault with any boy who isn't Alan,"

"It's not my fault he's perfect, " she said smiling softly

"He sure seems to think so," I muttered keeping is step with them

Lia glared at me but it didn't make me deny it, Alan was what you would call self absorbed and extremely proud so it was the truth. Lia and Alex dropped me off at English. I was in AP English which I was extremely proud of, English had always been my favorite subject

"Good afternoon Erica" My teacher said

"Hi Mrs. Catteau," I greeted

"Come in, come in we're discussing our topic for the day,"

I sat down in my usual spot next to Adil, yes he was in my AP classes. Actually I think he's in all the AP classes, he is incredibly smart.

"Today class," Mrs. Catteau started "We will be discussing fiction, to be more specific short fiction,"

The class paid attention as she continued

"The theme will be : The passing of time,"

I sighed, as much as I loved English I had never been a big fan of work or labor, I am an extremely lazy person.

As Mrs. Catteau continued talking I drifted off staring at the space in front of me. My thoughts went to the aquarium and Jamie and also Alex and Ty, to be honest there was a lot to think about .

"Hello, earth to Erica," someone called out

I snapped out of my thoughts and focused on who was calling me

"Sorry ," I said focusing on class

Adil simply shook his head, pushed his glasses up his nose and returned his focus on class.

"For now, I want you all to start writing please don't hesitate to ask if you need help,"

The room was filled with the sounds of pens scratching on paper as everyone focused on their writing task . I tried to focus on mine but I couldn't focus on mine so I doodled in my notebook instead of work ( I'm not the biggest fan of working) . After class was over, Adil and I walked to my next class which was psychology. We were silent as we walked, there wasn't much to talk about. I waved goodbye as I entered my class and got settled.

Once school was over Alex invited me to her house so that she could in her words "Transform me into something worth kissing,". I arrived at her house and knocked on her door , it opened revealing Alex's younger brother Ore

"Alex is upstairs," he said not paying attention to me, I guess his phone was more interesting

"Hello to you too," I replied as I walked past him and upstairs towards Alex's room. It was a surprise when I opened the door to reveal Joey and Lia, all with serious looks on their faces.

"Did somebody die?" I asked raising my eyebrow

Joey gave me a once over before answering "Well it can't be your fashion sense, that's been gone a long time ," she said

I narrowed my eyes at her and gave her a mocking look while entering the room.

"Well we're here to give you a makeover for your first official date!" Alex squealed

"Guys isn't this a group thing, it won't matter how I look," I sighed

"Yes but if you want to impress Jamie then you've got to dress nice," Lia chimed in pronouncing Jamie's name with disdain.

I rolled my eyes before saying

"I'm telling you guys that I don't need a makeover, honestly I'm fine the way I am now can we please leave, we're going to be late,"

"Oh honey I'm not going, Dani's still pissed remember," Joey said blowing us a kiss before leaving the room

"Hey wait, you're my ride!" Lia shouted running after Joey waving goodbye to us

"And then there were two," Alex mused

I gave her a look as we both stood up and headed to her car to drive to the aquarium. We got out and went inside to wait for Dani, Adil and I guess Jamie, let's skip about twenty minutes when Dani and Adil arrived and all we had to wait for was Jamie

"You're sure he isn't going to stand you up?" Alex asked

"Well if he does he's definitely dead," Dani chimed in

"And I'll help you hide the body," Adil said

We all looked at him at that

"What? You didn't think you were going to leave me out did you?" he finished

"Don't worry Addy, we're never going to leave you out," I said pinching his cheek playfully

He wrinkled his nose and moved his hand away from me, and it was at that point in time when Jamie walked in.

"So that's him?" she Alex asked and Dani gave me a once over

"Yup , " I replied walking towards him "Wish me luck guys,"

"Hey," he said when I arrived in front of him

"Hey," I replied

"Sorry I'm late, I had some uh stuff to do before I left," he explained running a hand through his hair.

"So, you want to go... see some fish?" I asked

"Sure ," he smiled

We walked over to display filled with fish and stood in front of it waiting, I don't know what we were waiting for it was probably for someone to start talking.

"I got suspended because of an aquarium once" Jamie blurted

"Oh really," I mused

"Yup, it's a pretty funny story actually," he said

"Ok, now I'm interested tell me right now," I demanded

"Alright, alright ok so picture this : There was this huge raffle at school and whoever sold the most tickets won right, so me and my friends needed new ones so we kind of snuck back into school after hours," he started

"Oh my gosh continue!" I said

And so he did, and we both laughed as he told the story. I've got to admit, he was really cute when he smiled. We talked for a while before he explained that he had to go

"I have something to do at home," he said "But it was nice spending time with you ... maybe we could go out like for real,"

"Are you asking me out?" I asked smiling a little

"Would you say yes if I was?"

"I would,"

"Then, do you want to go out this weekend?"

"Yes, I'd love to,"

After he left I noticed someone by the animal touching display, well more like some people. They looked like a brother and a sister, but it seemed like they were arguing,

"Lili you can't take one home," the guy (who I'm assuming was the brother) said

"Why not?" The girl responded with her hands on her hips

"Because these aren't fish you can't just take home, that would be stealing and we would go to jail,"

"It won't be that hard, just get a collar and stick a leash on it. No one would know the difference,"

"Fish don't need leashes Lili,"

The girl humphed and walked over to another side of the museum

"Siblings huh?" I said walking up to him

"Yeah," he said sighing

"I mean you love 'em but at the same time you kind of want to stick them in a sack and ship them to  Australia,"

He smiled a little before talking again

"D'you go to Yorkspring?" he asked

"Yeah, senior year how 'bout you?"

"Uh I go to Clearlake ,"

My eyes widened. Clearlake was the direct enemy of Yorkspring, this conversation just got awkward.

"I guess I'm supposed to boo and throw a drink at you now right?" I said

He chuckled at that

"Don't worry I'll just part with with a complimentary you suck Lions,"

"Well I guess that's appropriate," he said and shot me a smile before walking off "I'll see you around,"

I waved at his retreating figure and turned back towards my friends. Reaching them I told them everything that happened with Jamie. I decided to leave Clearlake mystery boy out of it.

Alex smiled nudging Dani before saying

"I guess I owe you a makeover!"
