Haii guys, here is the first entry of the second contest........

CRUEL FATE

Her body was in sore when she got up that morning. Last night was a bit harsh on her. But she has no other choice. She has to either do it or let her family suffer. She walked up to the bathroom and saw her face in the mirror.

ANIKA'S POV

'My name is Anika. Anika Chandna. I'm one of the country's best medical representative. But in reality, everyone in my field knows that I'm nothing but just a slut who slept her way to the top. Kismat badi kutti cheeze hai. I realized this only after loosing my everything. My life, my self-respect, my honour, my pride, my love, my SHIVAAY.'

She went ahead and took her chand bracelet which was lying on the side table.

A flashback plays in her head.

'Chandu!', Shivaay called out to Anika who was sitting on a bench in a garden.

'Don't talk to me! It's my birthday today, let alone getting me a gift or wish me, you couldn't even pick up my call. I want a break up!', she ranted.

'Chandu! Sorry na! I went to get a gift for you but I got delayed there and I didn't want to see you before getting you a gift. Take a look at this', he said while taking out a red velvet pouch.

'I don't want to see anything', she turned her face around.

'Accha baba, sorry! Please forgive me this time around. I'll never do this again!', he apologized.

'Pinky promise?', she asked while pointing out her pinky finger.

He smiled and pinky promised her. Then he took out the chand bracelet from the velvet pouch. He adorns it on her hand.

'Chands for my pyaari Chandu!', he exclaimed and gave her a kiss on her hand. She smiled and hugged him.

She snapped back into reality when she heard a knock on the door. She wiped of the tears rolling down from her eyes and went to open it. Bhavya, her younger sister and Saahil, her physically impaired younger brother were there.

'Di! Papa!', they uttered while panting. Anika rushed towards her father's room. He was having another epilepsy attack, she immediately went to him and gave him an injection. He calmed down after a while and fell asleep. Anika bids goodbye to her younger siblings and went off to work.

As soon as she reaches her office, she was called upon by her manager. She congratulated and praised Anika in front of everyone for reaching her sales target faster than anyone. She also added that of she goes in this pace, her promotion can be pre-poned and handed a new medicine to her. Everyone there badmouthed Anika among themselves but she just ignored it all. She has become a stone with no feelings. Nothing matters to her.

She went into her cabin and start studying about the medicine. Then, she take a look at the list of doctors she had to visit for the approval and reviews of this medicine. The first name shook her to the core.

Dr. Shivaay Singh Oberoi!

'Shivaay?! When did he came back to India? He settled in Singapore then why did he come back? How am I going to face him?', she thought to herself. Thinking of her compulsions, Anika shrugged off her thoughts and went off to the hospital he was working in.

They saw each other in the elevator of the hospital. Tears formed in Anika's eyes. Shivaay was stealing glances from her but kept quiet.

Anika was waiting for quite some time outside Shivaay's room to meet him. His helper nurse then showed up and gave her a letter.

Good afternoon Miss Chandna,

I'll be very busy the whole day with plenty of appointments. Hence, I request you to come over to Backyard Cafe this evening. We can discuss about the medicine over dinner. And yeah, please dress up for it.

Dr. Shivaay Singh Oberoi.

Anika's heartbeat increased as soon as she finished reading it. She was fighting a war with her heart and her brain. Whether to go or not.

That evening, Shivaay was waiting for her at the cafe. She arrived there in a pretty satin dress which was backless. She started the conversation very formally but Shivaay was trying to catch up all those years he missed out with her. Not being able to handle the emotional turmoil that she was going through, Anika excused herself to the washroom.

She shrugged off all the thoughts about Shivaay and reaffirmed to herself to be strong and bold. She shouldn't be affected by him. She splashed some water on her face, wiped it off with the tissue there, touched-up her make-up and left the washroom. As soon as she exited the washroom, a hand came out of nowhere and grabbed her into a dark corner.

'Shivaay! What are you doing?!', she asked.

He didn't answered her by capturing her lips with his. He sucked her lower lip sensually. She was stunned at his sudden actions. She couldn't respond. He pulled her closer by her waist and bit her lower lip. He doesn't know the war of brains and heart going on in Anika. Finally, her brains loose, heart won and lust took over her. She responded to his kisses. Anika was dominating initially but Shivaay took over the dominance. They broke the kiss and panted as they were lacking of breath. Shivaay smirked realizing he still have effects on her. Then, they left the restaurant to Shivaay's home and rekindled their long lost romance. They made love to each other passionately. After all, they're finally with each other after 5 long years. While, they were basking in the glory of their love, a thought came into Anika's mind.

She got up from the new and quickly starts dressing up. Shivaay was surprised at her behaviour and tries to hope her back. But in vain, she replied 'Please don't forget to give a review on the medicine' and was about to leave when Shivaay hold her hand and told her 'I love my eyes when you look into them. I love my name when you say it. I love my heart when you touch it. I love my life when you are in it'. Her past with Shivaay flashes into her mind. Their happy befikre days. Her cheeks was getting hot sustaining the emotions in her. Her eyes were glistening. She remembered the first time Shivaay had said that to her when they made love for the very first time. She jerked her hand from him and rushed out.

Shivaay was surprised at her behaviour. He recalls the past he had with Anika.

The past:

Shivaay and Anika were both medical students in the same university. Shivaay was in the last year while Anika was in her third year. Their first meet was in the university's cafe. They bumped into each other and introduced themselves after apologizing. Then, they met again in Anatomy classes. Shivaay was repeating the subject. He is a very bright student but Anatomy can totally fuck him up. He was helpless in it. Anika on the other hand, shone brightly in Anatomy as well as other subjects.

Keeping all his ego aside, Shivaay went up to Anika for help in Anatomy. He explained to her that it is very important for him to graduate this year itself as he wants to give a better life for his mother Jhanvi. He told her about his father, Tej who's having an affair with his secretary Svetlana and abuses his mother for a divorce. His mother is tolerating all of this only for Shivaay. He doesn't want his mother to suffer anymore because of him.

Anika developed a crush on him not just because of his good looks but also his thinking and care for his mother as soon as he shared it with her. She agreed to help him. They helped each other in their studies. Alongside, the develop mutual feelings for each other.

One stormy night, while revising together, Shivaay couldn't get back home and had to stay back at Anika's place. The perfect situation around them brought them to make love with each other for the very first time. After a passion filled session of love-making, Shivaay uttered those words to her. Anika was totally melted hearing it. She fell head over heels in love with him again. Each and every day passes by and they fell deeply in love with each other. Unfortunately, they were envied by many others in the University.

One day, during their final exams, Anika was constantly being harassed by the guy seated behind her. Shivaay noticed this and got angry. As soon as they were out of the hall, Shivaay confronted the guy but he was held back by Anika. She tried her level best to stop him as she knows that he looses his temper very quick. The guy then crossed all his limits and went ahead to make slutty comments on Anika and raised finger on her character. Shivaay couldn't take it anymore and landed his fists on that guy. The fight turned ugly and withdrew the attention of everyone there.

Their professor who was passing by at the time break their fight and banned the both of them from sitting for the upcoming exams on the basis of bad behaviour. Shivaay was broken to hear that. Anika tried consoling him but he left angrily after shouting on her. That night, he got a phone call from the professor. He apologized to Shivaay and lifted the ban on him.

SHIVAAY'S POV

'I was very happy to know that the ban was lifted. I took my phone to dial up Anika's number. I was wrong to release my anger on her that too in front of everyone. Her phone was switched off. I was worried about her. I know she's upset with me right now. I'll appease her my own way when I meet her tomorrow after the exams. That day, I couldn't find her during the exams. I'm beginning to get worried for her. Nevertheless, I shrugged off all my thoughts and did the exam just the way she had thought me. I came out of the exam hall and saw her standing there at the corridor. Her eyes were red and puffy. Her nose was also red. Her face was swollen. I wanted to go and hug her ask her what's wrong. But she herself walked up to me. Her hazel eyes were glistening with tears. She gave me a hug and said goodbye. She brokeup with me and stranded me there. I was helpless. I was torn-apart between my mother and her. I had to choose my responsibility that has to be fullfilled at that time; either as a son or as a lover. I want to fullfill the both of them. First I finished my exams properly. After that, I tried to look for her everywhere but she totally disappeared from me. No one knows about her. Where she went and what happened to her. It was as if she vanished into the thin air.'

Present

'Now, that fate brought us together again, I'll not let her go this time around. It was my mistake. I shouldn't have shouted on her. Ever since that incident, I learned to control my temper. I want her back! I have a lot of questions for her.'

ANIKA'S POV

'Why Shivaay? Why did you utter those words again? I'm not worth it Shivaay! Please stay away from me! I will not be able to be the strong and bold Anika again. I will be your vulnerable and emotional Chandu again. And I can't afford to be her. Not now! Not when my whole life has turned upside down like this.'

Anika and Shivaay met again after a week in an event. They again rekindled their romance. Anika was loosing badly in the fight against her brains when she's with him. Shivaay began calling her out for dates and dinner after that. She went out with him. Everything was getting alright between them but Shivaay doesn't know Anika's dark secret. She stops getting works done the way she used to do it. She wants to move on with Shivaay. For that, she has to spill that dark secret of hers which is a huge and unbearable reality of hers. But, everytime something comes up and she fails to reveal it. Shivaay doesn't want to talk about the past, he just wants to relish the present with her.

As fate would have it, one of Shivaay's friend who's also a doctor and was Anika's customer,spilled the beans to Shivaay as he was furious that Anika is refusing to sleep with him anymore. This revelation shook Shivaay up. He went to look for Anika in her office. He demands the truth from her. He compels her to speak while she tries to calm him down. Finally, having enough of Shivaay's temper, she revealed it!

'You want to know the thruth? Fine! Then, hear it. Yes! I did sleep my way to the top! I was helpless and the only valuable thing I had was my body! I was forced to use it. I used it for YOU at first and now it's for my family. I'm wrong. I took the wrong way but I can't let my family suffer! I don't give a damn about what other think about me. I no longer care!'

'What do you mean by you used your body for me first?'

Anika realized that she had spilled the darkest secret of hers infront of him. She tried to cover up but Shivaay being Shivaay got her to speak up. She cries and stumbles. Shivaay held her properly, made her sit and asked her to talk.

'The first time I used my body was to lift the ban of final examinations from you!', she stammered while crying. This reality swept the ground away from Shivaay's feet.

'That day, after you left, I went upto the professor and explained everything to him. He promised to lift the ban he imposed upon you only if I spend the night with him. I know how important it is for you to graduate that year. So I did it. Afterall, it's from you whom I learned that one should do anything for their family. And Jhanvi Aunty is also like my family. So how can I not do it? Then, that morning, I couldn't face you! I was embarassed with myself. But still I come to see you for one last time. I just wanted to see you from far. Then, when I saw you, I just wanted to hug you and cry my heart out. Without realizing, I was already in your arms. I can't tell the truth to you. Hence, I broke-up with you and left. That evening, my parents had an accident which killed my mother and left my father crippled. Our shares chrashed and we had to sell everything to settle the debt. Even if the debts were settled, our expenses was increased. Papa's medications were expensive. Bhavya and Saahil were still in school. So, I decided to give my studies up for them. And to support them, I adopted this way. I left my self-respect, my feelings, and my emotions the day I left you. Leave me Shivaay! I'm not worthy for you! I've become a slut! A whore!', she cried bitterly after uttering all the truth to him.

Shivaay left the place silently after hearing Anika's side of the story. Anika's manager was furious at her. Anika went ahead to resign her job, but her manager advised her to start afresh.

SHIVAAY'S POV

'I feel bad about myself. My Chandu had underwent so much in the last 5 years and I was not with her. I was just so selfish. Kismat badi kutti cheeze hai! She was able to understand and be with me in my bad days but I wasn't there for her. Don't worry Chandu! You will no longer be alone! I'm with you at every step of your life now. I'll be with you!'.

That night, Anika's father had another attack, he was brought to the hospital. Shivaay was there too. He helped her out but unfortunately, they weren't able to save her father. He passed away peacefully after making Shivaay to promise that he'll look after his family.

During her father's funeral, Shivaay was there the whole time. He was the one who arranged everything and bear the whole cost. After the funeral, Anika breaks down to him again. He hugged her to compose her. She found solace in his arms and in his arms, she told him, 'You are the only cure to my sadness, even though you are also the one who caused it! I love you Shivaay! I love you way too much that I can do anything for you. But, right now, the girl infront of you is no longer your Chandu! She's gone. I've lost her. I'm just a living stone right now! Listen to me. Let me go. Find another girl who's worthy of your love. I'm not worth it. Leave me Shivaay!' Even if it was breaking him inside out, he silently complied to her and left.

SHIVAAY'S POV

'I know you're going through a lot right now. You want to sort things out in your life and for that you need space and time. I'm willing to wait for you Chandu. And I can never find someone better than you for me. You sacrificed a huge thing for me and my mother. No one else will be able to do that except for you. If you could do anything for the love you have in me, then I can also do whatever it takes for the love I have for you! I will not let you go. I'll get you back my Chandu!'

6 Months later...

Shivaay was seen entering a class and teaching Anatomy to medical students. He accidentally says the wrong fact and it was immediately corrected by a female student. It was no one else that Anika. He smiled at her and corrected himself after praising her. They were then seen together in the car.

'Do you seriously have to praise me infront of everyone like that?', she asked him.

'Of course! After all, you aren't just the smartest student I have, but also my fiancee and soon to be Mrs. Shivaay Singh Oberoi or should I say Dr. Anika Shivaay Singh Oberoi?'

She blushed at his statement and hid her embarassed face.

Love sometimes can make people do unexplainable things. Love can make people sacrifice even the most previous thing they posses. Shivaay and Anika's cute love story was tested when fate played a cruel game on them. They loose to it the first time around. But the same cruel fate brought them together again. This time, they fought against the game of it together. Their cruel fate didn't stand a chance in front of their pure love. It's indeed true when people say that love conquers all!
