CHAPTER XLVIII
Cassandra laughed as she felt the kisses on her stomach, and she shoved her hand into the sheets to thread them through Harrison's head. As she soaked in the feeling, she laughed some more and turned her head around in the pillow as he began to make air frats with her stomach. She had to be dating a child, but she found it harder and harder to care how he acted as long as he acted that way with her.
When she felt around and got his face in her hand, she dragged him up and kissed him lazily across the mouth. He sighed, his arms going round to dip into her pillow so he rested on his elbows to keep most of his weight off her. It had been three weeks, and she had spent most of that time avoiding Josephine and H.W, but other than that, her weeks had been beautiful. She was high off the success she was racking up with the contracts they had on the way and enjoyed all the moments she spent with Harrison.
"How are you this morning?"
"Good. Not sure how I feel about you using my stomach for a trumpet replacement, though."
"Your mom is coming over at what time?"
"Don't really know. My mom will arrive either early in the morning or in the evening, and I would return to Santa Montes with her by Thursday, while sadly, you have to stay here. Are you sure you want to close the deal by yourself? It's only two days, and I can wait."
"I am kind of hoping that at this point you would realise that I am very reliable. Our deal won't crumble if you are not here for the last two days. I'll handle it."
She rolled her eyes, and he walked off the bed, grabbing a fistful of sheets as he went. Her fingers managed to grab the blanket, but the force he used was enough to pull her across the bed, and she laughed and followed it. They struggled around the room, playfully growling and groaning as they played an odd form of tug-of-war with the sheets.
With a powerful tug, Harrison yanked on the sheet so hard that she stumbled forward and fell on him, tackling them both to the ground. The only covering she had from the waist down was her panties, so she groaned when he tickled the back of her thighs then proceeded to hit him on the chest.
"Idiot."
"Happy to be at your service, darling." He packed her hair behind her ear then smacked another kiss on her cheek then pinched her hips. "You planned something today?"
Cassandra nodded, freeing an arm from his chest, she pushed her hair out of her face and puffed the rest out of the way. "Yeah, I think I have the perfect event for the day. A little doubtful about it, but I would rather try it out. We are going to travel somewhere, we would be back by nightfall, and then we can pull an all-nighter before my mother arrives in the morning."
"Travel?"
"Yeah, with the plane." She ruffled his hair with her fingers, feeling the soft curls fold around her painted tips. "It means a lot to me, and as you are sharing a lot of yourself with me, your sister and meeting your mother and all, I think I should share something with you as well."
The warmth that spread through his eyes made her drop hers down to his chest, she wasn't used to it, she tried to, but it was hard. He made it too easy and easy didn't sit well with her. Harrison noticed her discomfort, and he pushed her chin up then kissed her jaw with a slowness that made her sigh. He nuzzled the hair out of her neck and dusted kisses over her shoulder's.
"You think too much, and that's not just a statement, it's a proven fact." He drawled and sat up, holding on to her thighs. He pulled her legs on both sides of his waist then settled his arm on her lower back. She twisted her neck then sent her hair back over her shoulder; her arms reached out and curled behind his neck.
"Bad habit, I apologise. Back to the topic, we are going out on a trip, are you alright with that?"
He brought his palm over her shoulder and smacked her hard enough to hurt but not enough to be painful. "Definitely."
"Okay then, I will call up for the flight. Today is all on me."
Cassandra slanted her lips against his and drew him into her arms. Her fingers slid down over his stomach and dug into his back. He banded his arm around her waist, leaning back until he laid flat on the floor. Cassandra kicked the sheets off her legs and scuttled forward, so she laid on him perfectly, to prevent him from cranking his neck to accommodate her small height.
"Should I lend you my captain hat for the day?"
Cassandra laughed and felt her cheeks heat up, immediately turning her face into his neck in embarrassment.
He noticed and laughed as he lifted her face up to get a better look at her. He pinched her nose as she tried to move away from him, then he trapped her with his arms around her hips. "Your face can pass for tomato, but you look as cute as I can ever imagine. Look at those cheeks."
Her nose twitched as she scoffed and slapped him hard on the arm before she strutted over to the bathroom door. He moved to the phone, and she watched him punch in the numbers before she grinned and shut the door behind her. With a long sigh, she dropped her head against the door and laughed to herself before she walked out of her shirt and underwear then into the shower.
In less than thirty minutes, she was out of the shower, powdered and dressed, while Harrison followed her example and moved into the shower to get himself prepared as well. It took a while for him to get everything he needed in order, but she wasn't in a rush, so she stood and watched the view from their balcony while she waited for him to finish up. They had only a few days left, granted, the past week had been hell as she had to see Josephine and her ex every morning and before she retired to bed in the evening. Tired, she dropped to the chair beside the balcony and folded her feet beneath her before she tucked her head into the comfortable headrest and closed her eyes. When she was settled, her mind turned back to her sad predicament; Josephine and H.W.
If there was one thing she had to commend the woman for, it would have been persistence. No matter how many times Harrison told her he had no interest, she never relented. H.W was just as bad, three nights ago, Harrison had been in a late meeting, and she decided to retire early just to find out that H.W picked the lock and sat in the dark of the room for the whole day before she arrived. Harrison called security, and they threw him out, but there was no way to get Josephine out of the hotel because she had done nothing wrong.
Breath rushed out of her, and her eyes flashed open as something cold wrapped around her elbow. Dizzy with sleep, she yanked her arm out of the grip and spun round to face a grinning Harrison. Air puffed out of her, and a chuckle followed soon after as he pulled her to her feet. The windswept the hair off her face, and she held it back with her hand as he moved closer to kiss her.
"Sleepy?"
She shook her head, the wavy curls floating left and right with the sway of her neck. "Not really. I just fell asleep because my mind was over-exercising." She rubbed her palms up and down his arm, then smiled. "If you are ready, then we need to get out of here. I already called the car to come up, and the plane is waiting."
Harrison pushed her to walk ahead of him while he picked the bag she prepared off the mattress. He made sure all the doors were locked tight then they made their way downstairs. The hotel had been one of the best she had ever stayed in. The employees were incredibly hospitable, taking care of their needs and attending to them with care. The city itself was a living beauty, the culture of the people around and the architecture of its buildings was mesmerizing.
"Are you going to tell me where we are going?"
She shook her head, turning her head up when an umbrella rose up to block the sun from her skin. Keon smiled brightly when their eyes met, and Cassandra returned the smile swiftly, she took the umbrella from her guide and passed it over to Harrison. Their chauffeur turned up next with an umbrella over Keon's head, and they walked down the stairs in their pairs. As the days passed, Cassandra found the idea of having a home in Himont appealed to her greatly.
The stairs were the only thing she hated in the hotel. There were thirty-six flights of stairs from top to bottom, it made the journey in heels tedious, but Cassandra had to endure all of it. Harrison allowed her to tighten the grip on his elbow while they walked down the stairs with Keon.
"What time would you return?"
Cassandra turned her head to look over at her guide, then shrugged, "Depends on when we arrive and leave. I'll try to contact you when we touchdown, then inform you if we would be back at all today but don't worry yourself about it."
Cassandra's phone buzzed, and she groaned, halting on the stairs while she pulled away from Harrison and dug around her bag for the vibrating phone. Her mother's number flashed up at her, and it received a smile, she held up a finger to excuse herself as she placed the phone over her ear.
"Ma!"
Her mother screamed with excitement, and Cassandra laughed along with her mother. "Hello, angel. Just wanted to hear your voice and remind you that I would be seeing you in a few long, horrid hours."
"I know, mom." She watched the street with interest. "I remember very well, and I have planned for you to enjoy your stay as much as I have. Harrison and I will be there to see you at the airport."
"Any meetings today?"
"Not really." She laughed and whispered her secret hangout spot to her mother. She revelled in the loud gasp she got as a reply. "We are just about getting into the car."
Her mom blessed her day over the phone, and she ended the conversation with a bigger smile on her face. Harrison faced her as she walked back, but something made her feet stop, and a small popping sound rang in her ears. Her forehead wrinkled as she swept her hair over her shoulders to turn back to the sound.
It grew louder, blasting through her head, and she watched with confusion as half the hotel from the east side began to scream and run. The pops became louder and she was rushed to the floor just as a bullet whizzed past her head and a piercing scream tore out from her.
One by one, people began to hit the floor, her eyes widened, and she pushed the heel of her palm into her ears as Harrison covered her with his body, his scent enveloped her. The hood caught her eyes first, dark and shadowed as it swerved with the swing of the car, on hand out of the window, finger on the trigger.
The dark eyes glinted in the light, devouring her from where she laid, and she closed her eyes listening in rigid fear as the popping sounds continued.
