Third person's pov!

Raichands were seated around the dining table for dinner that night.

It has been ten hours since they returned from the Vyas House.

Kalindi Raichand could still remember the stunned silence in the room, when she asked for Nidhi's hand in marriage for Siddharth.

They had politely said that they will discuss with Nidhi and let them know.

Kalindi knew they were too polite to say no to their faces. That is why they said so. She had arrogantly believed that they would say yes without a second thought, even though she had challenged Sid otherwise. They are after all The Raichands. Who in the right mind would say no? But the Vyas family would. She was sure of it, because she had seen it in their face. But they were too polite to outrightly say it.

Siddharth Singh Raichand picked on his food.

Things didn't go according to his plan. But he was hopeful.

Once the Vyas family discusses the proposal in detail, they will realise that this is good for everyone. After all, he is one of the most eligible bachelors of Mumbai. His past is not something to be proud of, but he believed the Vyas family would be able to overlook it.

The phone rang at the same time and everyone stared at it.

Girish picked up the cordless receiver and handed it over to Kalindi Raichand.

"Hello. Who is this speaking?" Kalindi asked.

"....."

"Oh. Nice to hear from you Jairaj ji," Kalindi said and everyone looked up at her hearing Nidhi's father's name, waiting anxiously for the response.

"...."

"Oh. Is that so? That is alright Jairaj ji. I understand." Kalindi said.

"......"

"No. Don't worry. I understand," Kalindi said and hung up the call.

There was a silence around, which Siddharth broke with his impatience.

"What did they say?" He asked, attempting to look as casual as possible.

"They said No." Kalindi said and continued having her dinner as if nothing happened.

Siddharth stared at his grandmother in disbelief.

"No? Didn't they say anything else?" Siddharth asked, his heart pounding heavily.

"They said Nidhi refused. Nidhi is the younger daughter in the family. She refused to even think about marriage before Priya, her elder sister." Kalindi said.

"Oh. We can solve that easily. Parth," Jeevika looked at Parth hopefully. She knew Parth was in love with Priya.

Parth shook his head in denial.

"No, di. I am sorry. Don't ask me that please," Parth said apologetically.

"But, I thought you love her," Jeevika said and Kalpana let out a scandalised gasp.

"I do. Very much. And that is exactly the reason why I wouldn't do it now. If we now go and ask for her hand in marriage now, she will never believe that I want her for herself. Not as a compromise I made for my brother. I am not willing to make my girl feel any less." Parth said and everyone looked at him in varying degrees of surprise.

"What nonsense are you speaking, Parth? I will never agree to this." Kalpana, Parth's mother said angrily and Parth sighed in resignation.

Well, better now than later. It would give his mother time to adjust to the fact that he is in love with Priya.

"Parth loves Priya?" Siddharth asked in surprise. This was new information for him.

"Uh yes," Parth answered and wondered what is wrong with him and his brother that they end up making a public spectacle of their feelings.

"And Priya?" Siddharth asked curiously and Parth sighed sadly.

"She avoids me. Pretends that I am not there to see her. She just looks through me and walks off.." Parth said with a shrug.

'But I know I have a place for her in my heart..' Parth said in his mind

"These Vyas girls are trying to trap our Raichand boys." Kalpana said angrily.

"Maa, if you weren't listening properly, Nidhi just rejected bhai's proposal. And Priya has been rejecting all my advances ever since the beginning. So, No! The Vyas girls are not trying to trap us. In fact, we, the Raichand boys, are trying to win them over." Parth said sternly, looking at his mother.

Kalpana gaped at her son. He had always been the silent obedient type

Since when did he start to talk back like this?

"And honesty, bhai? I don't understand how you even had the courage to take this proposal to Nidhi. I mean, if I were in her place, my first doubt would be what new game you are playing." Parth said honestly, without bothering to filter his words.

"Parth," Siddharth whispered in surprise.

His brother has never talked to him like that.

"Parth, Bubba is not that bad. Yes, they always fight. But she was always able to stand up for herself." Jeevika tried to defend her brother.

"Di, you have only seen what happened in this house while she worked as your PA. You haven't seen what he did with her before that. And bhai, that day when you brought her to the study, I was there. I heard what you did." Parth said and Sid felt ashamed remembering what he had done to Nidhi that day. He had threatened to physically abuse her.

He should have told all this before they took the proposal to Vyas House.

But better late than never.

"What are you talking about?" Kalindi asked curiously.

"Bhai, I think it is time you confessed your mistakes," Parth had to catch himself before using the term crime or sin instead of mistake.

"I.." Siddharth didn't knew what to say.

"Speak, Sid. What is Parth talking about?" Kalindi asked.

And Siddharth did what Parth asked him to do.

He confessed.

Everyone stared at him as though he was a monster.

Well, he was a monster! No doubt about that. A Rakshas in Nidhi's words.

"And did you apologise for any of these before making that proposal, bhai?" Parth asked the most important question and Siddharth sucked in a breath.

"No."

Kalindi shook her head in disappointment.

"I am so disappointed in you, Sid. I don't know how you expected her to agree to marry you/" Kalindi sai

Jeevika simply gave him the disappointed look, without saying anything.

Kalpana was shocked.

"You love her?" Kalpana asked in daze.

Siddharth nodded awkwardly.

"If you did all these things when you loved her, I can't imagine what you would have done to her, if you actually hated her." Kalpana chachi said, making Sid feel more ashamed.

Hey guys..

I see many comments saying they don't want Nidhi to end up with Sid. I am really sorry guys, but in this story, there would be no other male lead. I am saying this because I saw a comment that they are hoping for an alternate ending. I am telling this in advance, as I don't want you to feel disappointed later on. I will make Sid grovel, make the redemption as good as possible, but it would be Sid only... Hope you guys understand..
