SHOT 70
Third person's pov!
Siddharth dialled Nidhi's number once again, hoping against hope that she would pick up the call at least this time.
He sighed when the call again went unanswered.
"Damn it. Pick up, pick up," he muttered as he dialled once again, walking to and fro, creating holes in the carpet.
After a few more tries, he sat on the bed with a resigned sigh.
Could he blame her?
No!!
All he ever does is shout at her and hurt her. So how can he expect her to attend his call?
He picked up his laptop bag and walked out of the bedroom, all set to go to his office and make further plans on how to win his love.
****
Nidhi stared at her phone in apprehension.
That rakshas has been calling her since morning. She couldn't figure out what was left to say. As far as she can remember, they have finished whatever they have to talk to each other.
She wanted to switch off the phone and be done with it, but her financial status doesn't give her that luxury. She needs her phone on, in case the hiring agency would call her with any new assignment. Her temporary contract with the previous company ended yesterday and now she needs a new one.
Her phone rang again and she heaved a sigh of relief when she saw it was Laksh.
She picked up the call on the second ring.
"Heyy,"
"Good morning, cupcake. What's up? I saw your missed call." Laksh asked cheerfully.
"Oh, I wanted your help, Laksh. That's why I called." Nidhi said.
"What is it?" Laksh asked.
"How do we block a number on the iPhone?" Nidhi asked. This phone is still beyond her. She is still learning how the iPhone works.
"Why? Whom do you want to block?" Laksh asked curiously.
"No one, Laksh. It is just the network sales people calling multiple times a day and disturbing us. I thought I would just block their number." Nidhi lied effortlessly.
"Oh I understand. Too much of an annoyance. Click on the i button near the number you want to block. Scroll down and you can find the block caller option there.." Laksh said.
"Great, thanks. How's work going on? Come home for dinner tonight. Bhadra Bua was saying "you haven't come home for three days now." Nidhi said.
"Work is good, okay. Yesterday Mr Raichand was supposed to come for the site inspection, but he changed it at the last minute, as he had some important meeting in the evening." Laksh said and Nidhi frowned hearing that.
Last evening he was there at the temple, taunting her for no particular reason.
Did he just skip a site inspection just so that he could come and insult her?
What kind of sick man is he?
Nidhi shook her head, trying to dispel thoughts of an angry Raichand from her head.
How she develops feelings for such a man is beyond her. She should stop thinking about him and move on.
Life is beautiful. There is no need to ruin it with painful memories and arrogant people.
As soon as she hung up the call with Laksh, she blocked Siddharth's phone number.
Great!
Now he won't be able to reach her and she could live in peace.
****
Siddharth stared at his phone in disbelief.
Did she just block him?
Damn!!
How dare she, Sid bristled in anger.
He once again started pacing to and fro muttering incoherent words in agitation.
Mukul and Ansh looked at each other in confusion and looked anxiously at Sid, having a silent argument between each other, whether to go inside or not.
Mukul gathered all the courage and stepped into the devil's lair.
"What?" Sid snarled seeing a prey to vent out his frustration
"Uh Sid. The site inspection of D-fab was postponed yesterday. It is scheduled for eleven today. We need to leave now." It was Ansh who quipped in.
"And you are telling this now. How irresponsible. If you can't do your job properly, what's the point of paying you?" Sid growled, looking at both Mukul and Ansh. Ansh rolled his eyes as he was used to this since their childhood.
"Sorry, Sir." Mukul apologised.
Siddharth ignored the apology and left the cabin.
****
Lakshit Mittal walked them through the newly opening D-fab office.
Siddharth was impressed with the work, though he didn't let it show on his face.
He is not particularly fond of the man anyway.
"This part of the office will be opened at the boutique." Laksh pointed out as they stepped into the last part.
"Hmm. I have been in touch with your American branch MD. We will sign the collaboration contract soon." Sid
"Sure. Looking forward to working with you, Mr Raichand" Laksh said with a formal smile.
Laksh's phone which was lying on the couch rang and Siddharth saw the caller ID
It was saved as 'cupcake'.
It was not rocket science to figure out who the cupcake was.
He turned green with envy.
He had been trying to call her since morning and she was simply ignoring his calls. And now, she was calling this man.
He simply couldn't bear it.
"Excuse me, Mr Raichand . It is an important call. Give me a minute," he heard Laksh say with a polite smile and excusing himself with the phone.
Siddharth stood their listening to the one sided conversation.
"Haa baba. Okay, okay. I will pick you up on my way and we will go home together. Yes yes, dinner at home.As it is I am fed up with three days straight hotel food. Ask Bhadra Bua to make aloo poori for me. Okay, I will see you in the evening." Laksh said and hung up the call.
As he came back from the call, Laksh was taken aback by the rage he saw in Siddharth's eyes, directed at him.
'Well, he hates anything and everything related to me,' Nidhi had told him a few days ago.
Without another word Sid turned on his heels and walked out of D-Fab leaving Laksh more bewildered.
Sid walked briskly towards his car, a plan forming in his head to keep Laksh away from his Nidhi and to keep her with him always.
A/N
When I began this book, I had planned to end it with eight chapters or so. Seems like this would go beyond 100. Didn't plan to drag it on for so long, it just happened..
