Parinidhi's pov!
"Your fiance is coming to Mumbai, Nidhi bacchaa.." Bua ji said with a soft laugh and I stared at her in shock..
What the hell is Bua talking about? A fiance? My fiance? Did Bua get me engaged to someone without even asking me?
I looked at Bua in utter confusion and saw the mischievous smile on her face. Realisation dawned upon me and I grinned happily.
"Really Bua? Don't tell me it is a prank. Why wasn't I told about this? How dare he not tell me that he is coming?" I asked impatiently.
"Now don't eat my brain. Eat his brain when he comes," Bua said in an attitude.
"When is he coming?" I asked, jumping around in excitement. It has been so long since I saw him.
"Tomorrow. He returned to Ratnagiri last week. He will be coming by tomorrow. And he is bringing your Papa and Mama along with him." Bua said and I squealed in happiness.
It is double joy then. He is coming after so many years and he is also bringing Papa and Mama.
"Papa and Mama are also coming. I am so happy. I will go make cupcakes for everyone." I skipped towards the kitchen momentarily forgetting my heartbreak.
"Hey Bhagwan! They will be here only tomorrow evening. Why are you making a mess of the kitchen already?" Bua asked in exasperation and I blew a kiss in her direction as I called out loudly.
"Because I am so happy," I said as I gathered the ingredients for the cupcakes.
Bua shook her head and walked out of the house calling out for Priya di.
I kept on making cupcakes, not knowing that a certain someone has already made holes in the carpet with his continuous pacing.

Third person's pov!
Next morning.
"Di, who are you trying to get in touch with? You have been dialling calls for a while now." Bhavna asked curiously, looking at the disappointed look on her face.
"I was trying to call Nidhi. She isn't picking up the calls and that got me worried. I just wanted to know what's happening at her side. Also, I haven't credited her remaining salary yet. There seems to be some issues with her bank. That's what it shows when the finance department tried to send her salary. They tried getting in touch too, but she wasn't picking up their calls either." Jeevika said anxiously.
Siddharth's fingers tightened around the fork he held in his hands. So he was not the only one being ignored, he thought to himself as worry gripped him wondering why she isn't picking up anybody's calls. But anger overpowered that worry.
How dare she ignore his family too?
Doesn't she know that Jeevika di is so fond of her. How can she ignore her calls like that?
'This is what you wanted. For her to stay away from you and your family,' his brain reminded him.
Sid ignored the voice and concentrated on the talk between his sister and Bhavna.
"Why don't you try her landline number and check?" The words came out of Siddharth's mouth before he could stop them.
The whole family stared at him in astonishment.
"What? I simply don't like my family being ignored. That too by a middle class girl." Sid said through his clenched teeth.
Jeevika shook her head at his behaviour. He is beyond repair..
But Bhavna stared at the man with a heavy heart.
The silly doubt that had formed in her mind the day before, poked its head again.
Was Sid trying to call Nidhi yesterday? She thought to herself.
She shook her head to dispel those thoughts.
Where are these thoughts coming from all of a sudden? She thought to herself.
Jeevika dialled the landline number of Vyas house and the call was attended by Bhadra Bua.
"Who is this speaking?" Bhadra Bua asked.
"Hello Bhadra Bua ji. This is Jeevika. I have been trying to get in touch with Nidhi since yesterday, but couldn't get hold of her. Can you pass on the phone to her please?" Jeevika asked. She has talked to Nidhi's Bua a few times during the one month Nidhi worked for her.
Bhadra Bua laughed.
"Since yesterday her feet have not touched the ground Jeevika beta. Ever since she heard that her parents and her fiance are coming to Mumbai, she is flying around, driving everyone crazy." Bua said, stressing on the word fiance as she saw Nidhi coming out of the room.
Nidhi shook her head in disapproval and came and took the phone receiver from Bua.
Jeevika was momentarily shocked.
"Fiance? Nidhi is engaged?" Jeevika asked out loud and was snapped out of her momentary shock when she heard the sound of the metal fork clanking against the plate.
They all looked up to see a frozen Siddharth with a stricken look on his face.
"Hello Jeevika ji?" Jeevika was pulled back into the conversation when she heard Nidhi's voice from the other side.
But Bhavna kept staring at Sid. His hands clenched and unclenched as though he was trying to control his emotions. A muscle was ticking in his jaw, indicating his frustration.
Bhavna's heart thudded against her ribcage as she got the obvious hint of her upcoming heartbreak.
Because there was no more doubt.
Even if Siddharth Singh Raichand is ready to tie the knot with her, she could never do that.
When she clearly knows that his heart is somewhere else. She was okay with him never believing in love. It didn't matter to her to marry him because he didn't believe in love. But she cannot marry someone who has his heart with someone else.
Siddharth stood up from the chair abruptly and briskly walked towards his room.
Every step he took felt heavy. His heart, an organ he thought he didn't possess, was breaking.
He felt breathless. He rubbed his chest trying to reduce the burning sensation he was feeling.
What was happening to him?
Why is he so bothered?
So what if she is engaged? How does that matter to him?
"It doesn't matter to me," he told himself loudly.
He looked into the mirror at his own reflection.
"Did you hear me? It doesn't matter to me. Her existence doesn't matter to me. She doesn't matter to me." He repeated to himself as though trying to make himself believe his own lie.
Downstairs Jeevika was still on call with Nidhi.
"Hey Nidhi, how are you? How are things going on? When are you guys returning to Ratnagiri? Are all preparations done?" Jeevika asked casually, unaware of the storm brewing up upstairs.
"Jeevika ji. My parents are coming to Mumbai today. And we have a guest too.. " Nidhi said..
"Ah ha. Your fiance? Your aunt did mention.." Jeevika teased and Nidhi laughed.
"There is nothing like that, Jeevika ji. He was our neighbour in Ratnagiri. I practically grew up in their home. His mother is very dear to me. She raised me until I was ten. They moved to the US when I was ten and he was thirteen. Before going he told me that he would come back and marry me. You know the silly promises the kids make. Ever since then Bua has been teasing me with his name." Nidhi said with a laugh.
"Who knows if he is coming to get his bride or not?" Jeevika teased again.
"Come on, Jeevika ji. There is nothing like that. We are very close friends.." Nidhi said with a chuckle.
"Okay, if you say so. By the way, I called to inform you of something else too. There seems to be some issue with your bank account. The finance team has been trying to settle your account, but it keeps showing errors. If you have time, just drop by. I will have the cheque ready." Jeevika said and Nidhi thought for a moment.
"I will come, Jeevika ji. But I can't stay for long," Nidhi said and Jeevika nodded happily.
