(This Scene takes place few days after the function that happened at Banerjee house in chapter 5 – Dreams come true)

Third person POV

"Neetu... did you prepare everything?"

"Yes mamma"

"Bring down the gifts we bought for them downstairs and keep them beside staircase"

"okay..."

Finally after a month after returning from Germany, Radhika is throwing a housewarming dinner with Neelima and family. It's a small dinner party with the family with lots of talking, chatting and teasing.

Radhika called Banerjees and invited them for dinner two days ago and Neelima cannot be less happy, for there is yet another opportunity to match-make Laksh and Neetu.

The miracle of the century is that Meenu is also helping in preparing for the dinner. She went to different flower markets and bought orchids to fill the vases. On the other hand, most of the cooking is done by none other than Kashyap's master chef Neetu. Radhika arranged the house and had to do all the cleaning with two maids.

By the time all the things are arranged Shekar arrives and rushes them to change their clothes and get ready.

A few minutes later, they heard the doorbell ring and all of them went to receive Banerjees. Neelima entered the house... Ravinder entered... Rishi entered... but Laksh?!?!?... did not.

Neetu was waiting for a certain person to make an appearance but alas he didn't.

While everyone is seated in the living room and chatting, Neetu is too lost and waiting for the main door to open.

Rishi: Hai Dr Pranitha!!!

Neetu: Hai... HANRI... um... how are you?

Rishi: I'm fine but seems like you are not. Are you expecting someone?

Neetu: Yes... No... Ye... no... who would I expect? No. No one...

Rishi: The person you are waiting for will come in ten minutes. He is struck in traffic.

Neetu doesn't know how to reply so she leaves shying away.

Radhika and Shekar excuse themselves and go to the kitchen to make the last arrangements and set the table. Neelima goes near Neetu and sits beside her to start a conversation.

Neetu POV

India has a weird climate; sometimes it's hot and sometimes cold. But still, I love India. People here are very kind hearted. There are many religions and grades of people living here in harmony. I am still surprised that they do not mind their religions in their relations. I'm happy I finally get to experience it.

But right now I'm very busy in the kitchen preparing dessert for the dinner. Meenu is arranging the gifts. Dad has already arrived and was helping mamma with flower vases.

Awww they look cute together.

I completed cooking and went into my room to freshen up and change. I had a very good long warm bath and wore a frock skirt. I wanted to wear a sari or a salwar kameez but this particular frock skirt stole my already stolen heart at first look.

Just when I went downstairs I heard the door bell ring and immediately went to attend it. I opened the door with a huge smile and saw Neelima aunty returning my smile and hugged me. Next came in Ravinder uncle and hugged me as well. Rishi came in and gave me a handshake. When everyone went inside, I still held the door for certain brooding and arrogant entry. I waited for a couple of minutes like that thinking that he might've gone to take a call or park the car but was disappointed when Rishi informed me that he would come in late.

Hmph...

Soon enough all of our are having a nice chat and mamma-papa went to set the table leaving me and Meenu with the Banerjees.

I like both Neelima aunty and Ravinder uncle. Neelima aunty is so good to me and likes me too. Ravinder more like think more and talk less type. But I wonder whom Rishi takes after since he represents none of the both.

Maybe he is adopted. I need to keep it a secret since it might hurt him.

Ravinder: So tell me Neetu, what are you doing lately?

Me: I... umm... this past week was a bit tight as I had to attend three surgeries and help a friend in her love life.

Ravinder: oh... interesting. About what?

Me: (cheerfully and proudly) You see uncle... Adolphus Weber, My friend in Germany is a chef and is going through one-sided and un-required love so I gave few simple tips to gain attention and love from his lady interest who is my senior.

Rishi: wow... you helped her? How? What are the tips?

Me: He whined to me a lot that she doesn't notice him... So, since he took the contract to the hospital canteen to provide hygienic food for a year, I asked one of my acquaintances to make a lot of banners of his and hang them in every corner of the hospital so that wherever you look you will see his face. Isn't it an amazing plan?

Ravinder: (laughs) And what happened?

Me: She noticed. But she just noticed that's it. Then the next day, he called me again angry and furious. I asked him what happened and he told that there are two doctors who are trying to pursue her.

Neelima: Wow she seems to be very famous.

Me: yes aunty she is so beautiful and famous too. So I told him to send a basketful of apples to her and also to the two doctors each.

Ravinder: Huh? Apples? Why?

Me: Because an apple a day keeps a doctor away. To keep those three doctors away from each other.

All of them laughed at what I said.

Why are they laughing? Did they like my planning and proud of me?

Yes!!! maybe.

Meenu: And they became a pair?

Me: No. No, they did not. Adolphus did many things to get noticed but did not succeed. So, to help him I formed a full proof p[an.

Neelima: oh... what did you plan?

Me: I asked him to go in front of her act like a dead person. I don't why, but that girl has an obsession with dead bodies and mortuaries so I told him to act like dead. He agreed but doubted what if she doesn't realise and has to act for many days.

Rishi: he is right?

Me: I know... So I told that I'll reveal that he alive in his funeral.

Everyone: WHAT?

They laughed a lot at my plan. Hmph... it was a perfect plan.

Me: Yes and he did like a dead... But she asked her junior to take care of his body since she has to attend a meeting.

Ravinder: Ahhh!!! So he didn't get paired up with his love.

Me: He got paired up. After that act, I told him that he is better with the junior doctor. So, he became close to that junior doctor and now both of them are dating.

I hope Adolphus ends up with that junior doctor forever... Amen...

Third Person POV

After Neetu's adventurous and animated story, Neelima smiled inwardly thinking that Neetu is perfect for Laksh as she is so pure and innocent. She wanted to know what she thinks of Laksh so Neelima starts a conversation with her right after.

Neelima: Neetu... honey... you look beautiful in this frock skirt.

Neetu: Thank you, aunty. You look gorgeous too. How is your health?

Neelima thinks that if she could place all the information about Laksh in correct proportion to Neetu then soon she'll be busy with a Banerjee's wedding and not so later she'll be carrying her first grandchild. She just needs to talk about Laksh to Neetu.

Neelima: All are doing great Neetu, as you can see... everyone are smiling and enjoying each other's company. I am as healthy as ever and doing fine, except... huh except my Laksh who hardly finds time for himself in all this office work. As a mother, I worry about him. I like him to marry a good girl and settle in his life.

Neetu: Ma..Marry? wow... aunty so did you find a nice girl for Laksh?

Neelima: (smiling slyly) As a matter of fact, Yes. But I don't know how to approach her.

Neetu: (sad and disappointed for some unknown reason) oh... how can someone cannot like a person like Laksh? Aunty, you tell her good things about Laksh and she'll agree.

Neelima: Ah... yes, I should do that. You know when Laksh was eleven; he got selected as one of the special kid and was asked to compete in National IQ and special kids completion. If Ravinder would have taken to the venue in time then he would've won the final round too.

Neetu: wow

Neelima: You know... our Laksh is so hard working and determined that he completed all the documentation of a project which takes eight months in three and half months. Don't you think he is amazing?

Neetu is more than enthusiastic to hear about Laksh. Don't know why but the name Laksh enough intrigues her and attracts her.

Neetu: (nods cheerfully) Yes our Laksh is so amazing.

Neelima: Oh no he is not just amazing but a good hearted too. When we were___

Rishi: (interrupting Neelima) Oh come on mom, you cannot just tell only good things about bro. Dr Pranitha... Bro is also bad in many things. Let me list you out. And please don't interrupt me in the middle.

Neelima and Ravinder give pointed looks to rishi which he doesn't care as usual. Meenu being his bestie enjoys the whole drama going on.

Rishi: The person whom I so passionately call brother is not an inch of a nice person. You tell me Dr Pranitha... who in his right mind would not smoke in this 21st century? But he doesn't. Can you believe it? Well, this is nothing. He was in abroad for almost five years for his studies and not once he tasted wine. WINE Dr Pranitha... wine. Okay, I can understand he doesn't like red colour. But what about white, rose and brown wine. White is his favourite colour too. But no... why would he ever learn good and manly things in his boring life? Fine fine... I believe there are few men who don't appreciate smoking and drinking... but he can at least support my comments. You know what!!! When I and bro went to the mall for some personal shopping, I noticed a very hot and beautiful girl and said that she looks so sexy and asked for bro's opinion.

For the first time in twenty-one years of Rishi's birth, today is the first and probably the last time that Ravinder and Neelima are proud of him.

On the other hand, Neetu is getting deeply impressed with Laksh not knowing that was a plan. Neetu smiled involuntarily at every bad habit Laksh has. She is proud of Laksh for having such bad habits, but equally tensed at what they will say about him that she doesn't want to hear.

Neetu: A...and what did he say?

Rishi: come on doctor... as you know my bro is lacking in good things what do you expect him to say? He said he will not look at a girl who is not his. Can you believe it? Huh.... I tried many times to teach bro what is life but he is not interested in my kind of life. Still... I think he is good.

Neetu: yes he a very good man.

Rishi: And I like him so much.

Neetu: (cheerfully without realising) I like him so much too.

Rishi: I love him so much he

Neetu: (again without realising) I lo___

Neetu was cut off by a throat clearing and Neetu immediately looks at the person she is missing so much.

There stood Laksh in all his glory with wet ruffled hair and jeans. He looked so handsome in a white shirt.

Laksh looks over Neetu with a secret smile and eyes her from top to bottom. His eyes held promise. Some promise that Neetu didn't understand.

Just then Radhika announces to everyone to move to the dining hall to have dinner and the mystical air between them is dissipated.

Both the families went to the dining hall to have dinner. When everyone started eating, there are set of moans and groans with every spoon of food they take in. Neelima compliments Radhika about the delicious food when she responds back that the dinner is prepared by Neetu. Everyone compliments Neetu for awesome food. Laksh looks at her with awe and pride in his eyes.

While everyone is scattering with their chatting partners, Laksh takes Neetu towards the back of staircase which is a corner place. But what they don't know is two pairs of happy and mischievous eyes are observing them from above the stairs.

Laksh: So... what were you telling Rishi when I arrived. I wanted to hear it myself. Do you...?

Seeing her head bowed and shy, Laksh pulls her near to him and kisses on her cheek telling her his goodbye.

Neetu face becomes crimson red and goes away from there shyly smiling to herself. Laksh chuckles at the disappearing woman, who is doing many impossible things to him.

Rishi and Meenu who are observing everything are smiling at each other

Rishi: I think I know her answer... No question needed...

Meenu: No answers required. Oof... I think we need to do something.
