Chapter 10

"Zariyah it is... more stunning than what I designed. This is really incredible. I have no words to express my joy. Thank you so much," said Alyssia, her eyes admiring my not so good sketch.

"Huh? Really? That's a relief then. Let's make this sketch a reality. I've already gathered the materials, laces, beads and stitching things," I informed Alyssia. Without wasting any moment she nodded her head in agreement and we both set out to work.

Looking at the condition, I decided on the look of the dress as backless and sleeveless. It would save time, additionally, to save more time I used a metallic bodycon skirt of ankle-length from our company's party wear collection. The only thing left was the upper part of the dress that I started cutting and stitching.

Alyssia told me the measurement so that it would look perfect on Silvia's body.

"You're just perfect, Zariyah. How can you be so fast and skilled at work even under such circumstances?" Alyssia asked curiously.

"Earlier, I used to work under a designer. He asked me to make beautiful designer dresses in exchange for money. Credit was also taken by him. It was unfair but I had no other option at that time." I answered with low spirits as it reminded me of my horrible past.

"I'm sorry to hear that. But always remember one thing. Dear people can steal your work but they can never steal your talent." Alyssia showed her compassion to me to which I replied with a smile.

"And it's done! Here we go." I lifted the dress to get a brief look at it. I and Aly, both felt overjoyed while staring at the outfit.

The outfit was indeed looking stunningly perfect enough to make a dazzling statement on today's show. Well I must not self appreciate my efforts but it was a gorgeous bling sleeveless gown with a reflecting silver steel shade that shifts in multi-colours. It was sparkly and fashionable. It had tiny tassels which would blend with the reflection of light.

"Much great! We made it and all thanks to you, Zariyah!" She said with a breath squeezing hug and a pat on my back.

In a moment I coughed, making her apologize for an unintentional reason. With some exchange of wows and thanks we wrapped the dress carefully in a plain white cardboard box Alyssia found from the storeroom. She then held my wrist tight and began to rush down the floors.

In a minute we were back in the car. The very one that she drove on her beastly mode and I know this journey could be much worse. After all, we must reach there on time for our plan to succeed. For now, it is our only priority.

Our expeditiousness made us hit the venue on time. Alyssia instructed the makeup artist beforehand to give Silvia a bold look as it will go perfectly with the new dress. Who knows better than Aly, how many tantrums she would fake to allow a makeup artist to give her bold makeup without knowing anything. On normal days too, she used to ask a hundred questions before getting her makeup done, Aly told me in an irate manner. However, Aly made sure to pounce her right to pester the people around her. Denver would be the one accountable to brook his baby girl's fit of rage until we arrived.

Cognising the pertinent moment, I spilt the beans on the conversation of Silvia that I overheard. I knew it, Alyssia was the right person where I could avow this sensitive matter. My volition behind revealing this fact was neither saving myself from the allegations nor staining Silvia's grace. Nevertheless, I was dubious.

Alyssia also reckoned with her suspicious nature. Oftentimes she had caught her doing something questionable but not anticipating the severe consequences never demurred her. However, she too thought that something fallacious had been aloof from the radiance of her sight, whenever she tried to connect the dots. Pondering over the surmise we both shared a look at each other in a rather distraught mood. We both were in two minds.

After a long helter-skelter that seemed arduous at one moment, I felt like I could finally shuffle off this mortal coil, after witnessing everything is alright. By the time we reached, the ramp walk had already commenced and to our disbelief, Silvia was also prepared with her makeup. Needless to say because of whom. She didn't utter a single word rather her face was flushed blue with unacquainted awe. Neither did she appear glad after seeing the newly designed dress nor did a word of praise slipped from her mouth. She only shot an icy look at me. Quite strange. Maybe I poke the pride of this leech.

It was Silvia's time to show up as a showstopper. Sitting in the audience I saw a pair of cocky eyes gawking at Denver, it was Renerio. Denver kept his lips pursed in a self-satisfied smirk while gritting his teeth and shooting daggers with his icy cold eyes.

Finally, Silvia appeared on the ramp, standing still in a great posture in the middle of the stage, waiting for the light to focus on her. The moment light fell on her, it became difficult for the strenuous spectators to take their eyes from Silvia.

She was looking like a walking fairy tale in a fresh metallic colour embellished dress. It worked in perfect harmony for her as it accentuated her slim figure. The silver hues melded with the yellow-gold spotlights to shine flamboyantly with a golden tinge that blended flawlessly with her skin tone. The bling of tassels was also doing wonders while moving and swaying with every move of her.

Maybe she was acting even now but it was to our advantage. A satisfactory smile from Alyssia from the stage relaxed my tiredness.

The sushed cacophony surfaced among the audience. The faces of all the money bags reflected deep admiration for the design. Lastly, Silvia walked the ramp with Aly and that's how the whole welter reached its glorious ending. We almost failed to make it here, but all's well that ends well.

Alyssia told me to wait for her as she was discussing with Denver. I don't know why he was ignoring my existence this time. No anger, no joy, only a certain void was oozing from his sapphire eyes. Did he believe me now? Or was that the silence before the storm? God! Whatever it might be, save me.

I went to the lobby to give my whining legs a sabbath. I made myself comfortable on the comfy sofa while expecting Aly to come fast. My poor body was exhausted from the cumbersome gown and yearning for my soft pyjamas and cosy bed.

An agitated Renerio appeared in front of my eyes. I quickly covered my face with a magazine as I didn't want to talk to him after what he did today. Luckily, he was on call and constantly scolding the person on the other side.

"How could you not stop them? How could you be so dumb? I trusted you." Renerio yelled.

Before I could hear something Aly came and asked me to come. I hastily walked up to her to the exit. A sudden unfamiliar feeling hit me that somebody's watching me from behind. I turned around only to see Renerio gazing at me with a devilish smile I was familiar with. That glance was enough to give me chills. I cursed myself the very next moment for looking at him.

It's all in the eyes. Even the most ruthless person has the eyes of a saint or a person looking like a saint has sinful eyes. They can easily communicate emotions only when one has the ability to understand them. They are honest hence show you the actual colour of a person. Anyone can hide their desires with words, but what lies in the eyes can never be hidden.

This was one of my abilities that I could read eyes, however, it never blessed me with any benefit but only cursed me with nightmares. And it scared me to the core when I read Renerio's eyes.

Brushing off the clouds of my vague thoughts, I walked outside. Alyssia dropped me home as it was late.

The moment I reached the room, Bella already slept. I expeditiously began to uncloak my petite body that endured enough under the canopy dress while constantly pleading for oxygen. Washing off my makeup and putting on my hot pants with a tank top, I jumped onto my bed. My exhausted body became relaxed as it experienced the cosiness.

If only we could be proficient enough to belay the string of our flighty minds, life would become a little easier. But it'll come when hell freezes over. That's the situation I was battling through as my flickering mind dragged me to retrace today's mishap.

I might look calm and composed from outside during the event but actually, I was pulling the string to appear like that. Denver's rage was terrible yet idle headed. He didn't even say apologies to me after the event went well despite all the chaos. I put my blood, sweat and tears to ameliorate the scourge.

God knows what that devil would do to me tomorrow. May the heavens protect me even if the hells sing their choirs to let me taste their pain.
