Yoona

"You guys still haven't slept together?!" Jin's voice echoed in the car. It was a miracle how the cab driver managed to keep a straight face without having his ears bleed in embarrassment.

"Yes Jin, a little louder because honestly, I think that lady on the bus missed out on it."

"Which era do you people live in? High school kids have sex before they even consider dating these days." Hoseok pointed out.

"Remind me why I am talking to two guys about my love life in a cab again."

"Because we're the only best friends you have who cared enough to ask." Ventured Jin.

"Also because you're a potato with zero socialising skills." Added Hobi.

"I knew I could always count on you two for moral support. I am truly blessed." She said sarcastically. "Also, unlike us, high school kids have too much free time. We barely even get time to see each other outside office, and each time we get close to getting somewhere, morons like you walk in on us."

"Say Kira, ever heard of the words locked door? I hear it's available plenty in Korea." Hoseok had a point but she was too stubborn to admit it.

"Next time you have a date, we'll make sure to go outside for the whole night. You can stick your tongue down each other's throat in peace." Jin said solemnly. Kira reached over and slapped his arm.

"The analysis came through and I think we can manage to spend more on the factory upgradation." Jin reported.

"Thank goodness. I've been getting complaints for a while now." Sighed Kira in relief.

Taehyung nodded at the progress and proceeded to discuss about other possible improvements.

What started out as a help (or a bargain) was slowly turning into a merger. They no longer worked on an investment basis; they had quite a lot of projects involving equal manpower and budget from both sides.

"What happened to that crisis in Japan?" Kira asked, her hands sorting through the new bundle of document.

"Jungkook is taking care of it. He said he'll have to stay in Tokyo for at least a week."

"Good." Jin sighed.

Suddenly, the unmistakable sound of a sob broke through the room and all three whipped their heads in the direction of the sound. A man, about the age of 35 to 40 staggered into the room. It was easy to see that he was having a rough time. What looked like a decent expensive suit now had taints and cripples. His hair looked chaotic and there were dark circles under his baggy eyes. Few guards in the building were tailing him, trying to pry him out of the room. His sobs only grew louder as he struggled to keep away from them.

"Please don't do this. Please." He practically crawled towards Taehyung as the guards dragged him ruthlessly.

"Leave him alone." Kira said calmly. One stern glance from her and the helpless guards scurried out of the room.

"I'll give you anything, just please don't take away my company." He latched himself onto Taehyung's knees, his hands trembling as he pleaded.

"I have to look after my sick child. I have to pay for her chemo. Please, I am the only one she has. She can't see me like this; she can't see her father struggling to keep her alive. I will find myself another job after she gets through this but please- please be merciful now. Just for a while, I swear."

All three were staring at him, unable to comprehend the sudden change of air. Jin and Kira went frozen while Taehyung's face remained expressionless.

It was a pathetic sight: a desperate father clinging on to the leg of someone much younger than him, pleading for mercy as he wailed breathlessly. Kira felt something she hadn't felt in a long while towards the man she called her boyfriend: Disgust. Her instincts told her to walk away immediately but she knew that it might end up putting the man in a worse condition.

And so she got up, wrapping her arms gently around the crying man. Taehyung's expression was incomprehensible as she gently led him out of the room, sparing no glance at the gaping boy. It was as if timelines worked different in the room, Taehyung felt like each second in the real world lasted more than a minute in his. When he finally had his senses back, it was too late. He barely caught the dirty gaze Jin threw at him as he tried to comprehend what happened.

It was hard to stop the tears rushing out of the man's eyes but Kira tried anyway. "What's your daughter's name?"

"Y-Yoona."

"Yoona, Yoona sounds like a pretty name. She must be very pretty." She tried softly.

From personal experiences, she knew that a daughter was their father's pride. Despite himself, he shakily took out his phone and showed her a picture of girl child holding a teddy bear in glee.

"I was right, she is beautiful."

Her heart broke at how young the child was. She looked barely around the age of 5- 6, several tooth missing in the front. And to think that she was fighting something as huge as cancer at such a young age pained her even more.

"How about I suggest something? I will pay her hospital bills. I'll take care of any charges that come along the way of the treatment. Anything to make her feel better, I'll help you with it."

The man smiled back at her. "I appreciate your kindness, miss. But I can't let you do that. This is our fight; I can't simply stand by doing nothing. If I can't fight it for her, I want to at least fight along with her. What father would I be if I can't even be there for my own daughter?"

Kira nodded her head slowly. "I... understand. I'll get the company back for you. If buying it back is what it takes, I'll do that. I promise."

The tears he'd been trying so hard to holdback rolled down his stained cheeks once again. He thanked her repeatedly, as he bowed so low that it seemed like he was getting down on his knees until Kira had to prevent him from doing so.

"Please, just call me if you need anything; anything at all." She assured him, helping him into a cab.

The determination on her face was pretty evident, it was clear that she was hell bent on making everything right for that little family as if her own. She was aware of Taehyung's piercing gaze as she walked directly over to Jin.

"Make necessary arrangements, this might be a little heavy on us but I am sure we can manage." She didn't even have to tell anything else but she knew Jin enough to know that he got the point.

"Minjee..." She walked as fast as possible.

"Minjee please let me explain."

"Minjee just listen to me."

Unable to control herself anymore, she turned sharply to him. Her gaze was cold and she could clearly see the uneasiness it had on him.

"Shut it, Taehyung. I guess some things never change." She snapped.

"Minjee, look I..."

"Money, that's what you want right? That's all you care about and all you ever will. You can have that. You can negotiate your prices with Jin." She was spitting venom and she knew that but once she lost it, it was hard to regain it back.

Taehyung couldn't help but feel a pang of hurt and guilt eat up his chest. He sensed her tone to be one of final and decided against talking to her. There was no point in talking to her like this. He decided to keep quiet, watching helplessly as she walked away.

She had managed to avoid him for days, avoiding his pleading gaze whenever she walked past him. That night, he had tried calling her, texting her and even sending her snaps, all of which she simply ignored. He hadn't showed up to the office the next morning until afternoon and she had been grateful for his absence. She was much more composed now but she was adamant not give in no matter how desperate he looked.

It was late at night and the office was void of its employees, save the few dorks who decided to stay back and play charades.

Hoseok made a high pitched noise as he flapped his hands close to his body, jumping up and down like a bird.

"A dinosaur!"

"A little birdie!"

"A dying chicken?"

"No!" Said Hoseok in exasperation as the timer ran out. "It was Nemo!"

"How the hell was that Nemo?!" Asked Yoongi in disbelief.

"Minjee, can I talk to you outside for a few minutes?" Taehyung's voice silenced every other noise in the room. Everyone shifted in their seats uncomfortably as Kira looked away. The silence went about for over thirty seconds until Kira felt personally guilty for putting the others through the awkwardness.

She slowly walked out, refusing to meet his eyes. They were in one of the less fancy cubicles, tension building up, and thick enough to be cut with a knife.

"Look, I have no excuses for what I did. I was plainly being an asshole." He said bluntly. "To be fair, I had no idea what he was going through but it still was a dick-move."

Still looking away, Kira was listening intently now. "I should have known. Next time, I'll make sure to run a background check on them before buying the company. I'll make sure that no innocent ones are hurt. I'll see to it that I buy only from the rich and spoiled like me who are not lucky enough to have an angel like you in their lives to guide them."

She looked at him, and she found the sincerity in his eyes as he apologised but she refused to talk.

"As for the man who came here, I gave him back his company. I made sure that his stocks are selling better. And I also visited a little girl named Yoona." Kira's eyes lit up at that. "Poor thing told me she felt lonely when her daddy was working so I stayed with her the whole morning. Check your Snapchat."

Kira narrowed her eyes as she pulled out her phone. The first few snaps were him begging her to take the call but soon, she saw an adorable little girl, sitting comfortably on Taehyung's lap. She couldn't help but smile as she went through the photos and videos. It looked like Taehyung had surprised her with a lot of toys and balloons. There was a small clip of her playing with a giant fresh teddy as she talked to it seriously. Another one was a front camera video of her kissing his cheeks as he smiled, his eyes turning into thin crescents.

"She asked me why I was there and I told her that I came to meet the strong pretty girl because a strong pretty woman inspired me to do so. She played with me the whole day; I don't think I've ever felt that happy meeting a person for the first time."

Seeing that Kira was in a much better mood than before, he continued to speak. "I am sorry for doing that. I can't change the past but I can work on the present. It was my mistake."

"At least you're admitting it. I kept thinking you were going to throw someone else under the bus or something."

"What? No. That would mean lying to you and I know better than to do that."

Kira looked away, the intensity in her gaze subsiding considerably well.

"So, are we cool now?" He asked cautiously tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

Kira nodded, managing a small smile as she heard him relieve a huge breath of relief. She could feel the burden lifting off of his shoulders as he smiled at her endearingly, much more relieved than before.

They were back in the room and sensed that it was quiet silent. She looked around quizzically and saw Jin engrossed deep in a phone conversation.

"Yes sir. I'll get back to you on that via mail." A few more sentences later he cut the call, a huge smile spreading on his face.

"I think we've landed on a potential giant deal. Remember that team from London? They came through and they are open to listen to our ideas. They're willing to have a meeting next week. There's a slight chance that it'll be in Europe, I could barely hear anything over the loud traffic."

"That's great! You're going with Kira as usual?" Hoseok asked, his eyes lighting up at the news.

Jin looked doubtfully at Kira and then at Taehyung. He observed how their postures were much more relaxed than before and he assumed they made up. "No actually. Since we've expanded, it'll be hard to look after it alone so I'll stay with you here. Kira can go with Taehyung, if that's alright with you both."

The couple looked at each other and shrugged.

"Well it's settled then." Jin smiled.

Kira didn't think much of it until she caught him winking discreetly at her. That's when it clicked; he was playing the cupid, trying to set them up. She simply rolled her eyes at him.

A/N: Last month was so hectic, I don't even know where to begin with. This chapter was something I'd written long back but something about it made me feel like it was too cheesy/cringy? Finally, I felt horrible for being dormant for over two weeks and thought "Ah, fuck it." 😅
