Baby's Day In
"Oh no." Said Kira, opening the door to her apartment wide open.
Standing in front of her was a dishevelled Jungkook holding numerous bags. Next to him was Taehyung. But they weren't alone. Leaning contently upon him was a tiny figure who seemed to find the edge of his shirt collar tasty.
"You finally let him do it, didn't you?" Kira said her gaze dead serious on Jungkook. "You let him steal a baby off the street."
Jungkook rolled his eyes and pushed past her. The baby found it amusing and chuckled at the sceptical Kira.
"Relax." Said Tae, placing a kiss on her cheek. "I didn't kidnap him. A friend asked me to babysit him." He said as he placed the chubby bundle on the couch.
Jin and Hoseok had departed their respective rooms and were heading to the source of the sound. Hoseok high-fived Jungkook and was about to sit on the couch when a collective yell caught his attention.
"Oh fuck, I didn't see you. You scared the fuck out of me." He said, his hand clasped on his beating heart.
"Um, you might want to tone down on the swearing. Ya know, what's with the baby in the room and all... speaking of which, who the hell is that and why is it on my couch?" said Jin.
"This is Luke. Aren't you, Lukey Lukey? Aren't you?" Taehyung said, his usually deep voice squealing in baby language.
"You don't seem so sure." Jin observed.
Kira simply shook her head and sat next to Jungkook, keeping a considerable distance from the baby. Hoseok was fully into the baby now. He made weird faces while the baby looked at him with full round eyes. He contemplated a little while before giggling melodiously.
"I made him laugh!!!" Hoseok yelled. It turned out quite paradoxical because the loud sound startled the baby, making him cry.
"No no no, it's okay. It's okay. Hyung didn't mean to make you cry." Taehyung said, bouncing him on his lap.
Kira didn't know how quickly time flew by as they watched the baby crawl around, trying to keep him away from potential harmful objects. It later turned out into a competition where each person took a chance at trying to make him laugh.
It started out with Hobi and he used the most powerful trick in his sleeve; making faces. It was fun watching the baby trying to comprehend what the hell was happening around him. He seemed to enjoy the attention a lot and complied with Hobi until he startled the baby yet again with a high pitched squeal.
Jin took his turn next. He tried various stunts from showing 'magic tricks' to even going to the extent of making dad jokes. The baby looked unfazed, He simply stared at him with doe eyes, his whole mind concentrating on each of Jin's movements.
"If I were you, I'd avoid eating sushi."
The baby blinked.
"Cuz it's fishy! HAHAHAHA"
It happened like a slow-mo transition. The baby's cheeks drew taunt as the edges of his lips drooped down, it then puckered upward and he pouted deeply for over a minute as they all watched him in anticipation. Then, as expected, he burst out crying, his pitch louder than ever before.
This didn't stop everyone in the room from roasting Jin. "Ah Hyung, how bad are your jokes if even a baby can't handle it?" Jin kept his considerable distance from the baby for the rest of the night.
It took a while for Luke to recover from that. Each time Taehyung thought that he had finally calmed down; he'd take a peak back at Jin and would pout all over again.
The baby was then handed to Jungkook. "So, what exactly do I do?" Asked Jungkook as the baby sat in front of him on the floor. He looked intently at the baby and the baby looked gravely back at him, tears stains still evident on his chubby cheeks. Jungkook smiled at him and simply went "Hi. I am Jungkook. Nice to meet you."
The baby cocked his head to the side, his sparkling eyes studying the youngest man closely. Jungkook continued on with his talks as if talking normally to an adult but the baby looked hooked on whatever it is that he was doing. He raised his small soft palms and stretched out towards Jungkook, indicating to be picked up. Jungkook picked him up and balanced him on his knees as the baby thoroughly analysed his face. He breathed quickly and let out a small chuckle, looking at Taehyung for approval. Jungkook seemed proud of this achievement and brought the baby closer, touching his forehead to that of the baby.
It seemed like the baby was waiting for this exact moment. He wasted no time and latched his tiny fingers onto Jungkook's hair. He fisted a handful of them and pulled them hard as the young man yelled out in pain. Kira felt like she experienced watching a weird psychotic thriller as the baby laughed in pleasure. It was pure evil. The more he tugged, the more Jungkook tried to yank him away, the more evil his laughter echoed.
Finally, after successfully detaching the little Satan from a groaning Jungkook, the baby was handed over to Kira. She took one long look at the baby and went "Na, I am good." A series protest erupted from the rest and Kira unwillingly approached the baby. Kira was fine with children but she had always found babies peculiar. Maybe it was the fact that she couldn't understand them, but Kira always felt that being handed a baby was too much pressure. It was too fragile and innocent that she had the constant fear of breaking it. She liked looking at them from afar or laughing for hours looking at random videos of them on the internet but taking care of one in reality was exhausting.
She awkwardly lifted the baby by its shoulders and blinked at the tiny figure in front of her. The baby let out a deep grunt and Kira immediately looked over at Taehyung. "Why is it making that noise?"
Tae raised an eyebrow. "First of all, it's a he. And second, you're holding him wrong. He's clearly uncomfortable. Here, let me help you." He moved over to her, and gently placed the baby on her lap and wrapped her arms around his small body, creating a protective cage.
"Relax; it's a baby not a bomb." Taehyung said, urging her to hold him comfortably close. Kira wanted to point out that his high pitched scream proved otherwise but decided against it. She stared at the baby and smiled at him sheepishly. Like every others before her, the baby observed her for a long time.
It was all going well until the he opened his mouth, closed it, opened it again and went "Mmma."
"What's that?" Kira asked. Taehyung's eyebrow knit in confusion. "Mom."
"Excuse me?"
Jungkook moved to take a closer look at her. "Oh yeah", he said pointing at Kira. "You do resemble Alice. The hair, the features maybe not the nose but you definitely have similar eyes. I think he thinks you're Alice."
"Who's Alice?" Asked Kira dumbfounded.
Taehyung looked at her like it was obvious. "Alice is his mom."
"Oh." Said Kira.
The baby seemed to like her a lot. It would crawl around and frequently gazing at Kira and finally throw a cheeky smile. Maybe babies aren't so bad.
"Okay, who wants to change his diaper?"
As expected, no one wanted to.
Finally, they decided to choose the winner through the most democratic form of election ever invented in the history of mankind: Rock, Paper, and Scissors. Jungkook ended up receiving the high honour. He muttered a string of curses under his breath before carefully picking up the innocent bundle.

"See you later Minjee." Jungkook hugged her, much to Kira's amusement. The poor lad looked beaten up tired and low-key smelled of baby diapers.
"Don't have sex in front of the baby, you two." Jin said, curtly before running away as a shoe hurtled across door to hit him.
Jin, Jungkook and Hoseok had exit the apartment with her and Tae alone with a sleeping baby. She had finally come in terms with him and had even softly kissed his chubby cheeks a couple of times.
"Minjee, I am hungry." Groaned Taehyung.
"I am pretty sure we have some left over kimchi. How about I make you some ramen?"
"What's that?"
Kira turned to gasp at him. "Oh my god. Is this one of those K-drama moments where the rich dude has never tasted ramen until his pretty girlfriend makes him one?"
"Okay, first of all, I was referring to that picture on the wall. And second, that's bullshit. Who in their right mind has never tried ramen?" He rolled his eyes.
"Dammit." Kira mumbled.
She looked at the photo he was pointing at and smiled widely. "That is Jin, Hoseok and I dressed as the Power-puff girls. I think I was two back then. They'd both been old enough to have colour preferences, so Jin was blossom, Hoseok was bubbles and I ended up being buttercup."
"I like how that ended up suiting your real life temperaments now." Chuckled Taehyung.
They slurped on the hot ramen and decided to head back to his place. Luke's parents were to relieve them off their baby sitting duty when they picked him back up from there.
Taehyung rode the car back home as Kira nestled a sleeping Luke in her arms. They reached his place without hassle until a loud beep of horn startled the baby from his peaceful slumber.
Taehyung walked around his large bedroom, bouncing and consoling a sleepy crying baby in his arms. When he finally felt Luke calm down, he carefully sat down on the bed. He started singing a lullaby and watched as tired Kira walk over to him like a piece of iron attracted to a magnet. He wondered who the actual baby here was: the one now sleeping comfortably on top of him or the beautiful woman snuggled up next to him.
He slowly adjusted himself and watched as she breathed rhythmically with her head rested on his shoulders. One of Luke's puffy palms held the hem of his collar tightly. For the first time, Taehyung did something he had never dared to do before. He found himself daring to dream of a future. He dreamed of their future.

The sudden bang of a door startled Kira awake. She sat upright, a little too quick for her body's liking. The bed was now empty of the man and child. She whipped her phone out and made her way out to the living room in its glow. Finding light in the living room, she descended down the stairs and walked cautiously.
Two figures staggered slowly into the hallway. The living room took them under its glow and she saw Jungkook and Taehyung in a state she never expected to see them in. Their faces were bloody, the shirts and clothes they'd worn before had been torn; fresh wounds taking its place underneath them. Jungkook was half- carrying Taehyung. Kira could see the pain he was enduring as he winced with each step, dragging the other along with him.
"What the hell?" Kira gasped. She relieved Jungkook off the burden and helped Taehyung towards the couch.
"I was hoping you wouldn't wake up." Taehyung had the audacity to chuckle.
She bit back from replying and hurriedly rummaged through their first aid supply. She kneeled down next to Jungkook and searched for serious wounds. He was nearly passing out from exhaustion and she worked quietly, stitching up wounds as best as she could. By the time she was done, he was already breathing slowly with his eyes closed.
She moved towards Taehyung and her heart clenched at his beaten up state. He was still awake and he looked at her with tired eyes.
"What the hell happened?"
The corner of his lips tugged upwards in a smirk but soon his face scrunched up in pain. She could saw a fresh cut on his lips and dabbed the cloth with antiseptic. "Taehyung, you can't just disappear in the middle of the night and come back looking like... like this." She gestured with her hands.
The phone vibrated in his pockets and he took the effort of answering the call. The silent air allowed Kira to clearly listen to the one speaking on the other end.
"Did you get it?"
"Yes."
"They tried acting smart, didn't they? Poor souls, they thought they could outsmart me. It's funny seeing them try."
Taehyung remained silent.
"Did they hurt you?"
Taehyung went still for a moment. He sighed and replied "No." Before he could say more, Kira snatched the phone away from him and cut the call. She tossed the phone to the other end of the couch and watched as Taehyung blink in shock.
"Just who is that guy? Why are you so afraid of him? Why do you do his dirty work? Look at you!"
"Minjee, you don't understand. He's powerful. He's... he can..." He stuttered. She expected him to say more but he simply sighed. Seeing that it was pointless, she dabbed the cloth a little too harshly on his chin and he hissed in pain.
He looked at her as she cleaned up his wounds. He was helpless. The very lips she touched yearned to tell her everything. But he knew it would only bring her danger. And so he watched. He watched helplessly as the fire in her gaze demanded answers she deserved to know.
A/N: During Exams, I'd watch Jack-Jack on loop to keep me awake. Hence, the chapter. :p
