"What about Alia.."Nyonika scowled.

"What about her.."Manik said disinterestedly while flipping through the pages of the file.

"Manik..look at me when I am talking to you.."Nyonika ordered.

"Nyonika..have to thought for once that maybe your face is so hideous that I don't like looking at it..I bet this thought never crossed your mind..did it.."Manik was looking at the files.

"How dare you speak to me like that.."Nyonika snapped.

"And how dare you give orders to me Mrs.Nyonika Malhotra.."Manik snapped right back at her looking straight into her eyes. "How dare you raise your voice in front of me.."he got up from his seat and walked around the table so that he was standing right in front of Nyonika.

"Have you forgotten to whom you are talking to. How dare you question me. How dare you even thought about interfering in my life. Don't cross your limits Nyonika..or else it won't take a second for me to cross mine.."

"I am your mother Manik..how can you talk to me like that.."Nyonika questioned.

"That's the only reason why you are still standing in one piece even after daring to interfere in my life..or else..if it would have been someone else in your place..I would have ripped that person's head off then and the only.."Manik's words send chilling shivers down her spine.

"Manik..I.."she was about to argue when Manik cut her in "Nyonika..don't force me to call the security to get your thrown out of the premise..as a matter of fact..I would have done the honour myself only but since I am a very hygienic person I don't want to get my hands grungy by touching a dirt like you.."

"So now..if you are done with your "ACT OF MOTHERLY LOVE"..just get out of here..before I forget that you are my "MOTHER" and I end up crossing all the lines to teach you the lesson that you will remember for the rest of your pathetic life.."

"Are you threatening me.."Nyonika glared at him.

"Oh come on Nyonika..don't give yourself so much of importance. Don't you know I don't believe in giving threats..and that too an insignificant person like you. I only invest my time on people who have the required standards..which you certainly don't qualify for..so don't assume.."

"And now...just stop wasting my time..because unlike you I don't have time to waste as my work is priceless just like me..so now just get out.."Manik said dismissively pointing towards the door.

Nyonika turned and walked towards the door. She was about to walk out of the room when Manik spoke again "..and yes..one more thing.."

Nyonika turned to look at him. "What.."

"From next time..take an appointment before you decide to barge into my office and ruin my mood and my entire day just by showing your ugly and horrendous face to me..or else be ready to face the consequences of your actions.."Manik retorted. "Now.."Manik once again pointed toward the door "..just get out.."

Nyonika's face turn into the darkest shades of red due to rage. But she didn't say anything because she knew Manik too well. She knew that he meant every single word that he said to her and she also knew that if she said anything more it will only make things difficult for her. So without saying anything anymore she opened the door and walked out of the room not before banging it loudly.

"God..this over dramatic Mother of mine.."Manik rolled his eyes in annoyance. "She ruined my entire mood.."Manik shook his head out of sheer irritation.

All of a sudden his eyes fell on the intercom and his devilish smirk reappeared."Let's have some fun Manik Malhotra..shall we.."

He pressed a button of the intercom and the almost instantly the response came in from the other side "Yes Sir.."

"Rachel come into my office.."Manik commanded.

"Sure Sir.."she mumbled.

And within a span of 30 seconds Manik heard a knock at the door. "Come in.."

Opening the door Rachel nodded and then walked in. "Sir..you called.."

"Yes.."Manik said looking straight at Rachel that made her extremely nervous. She started to shift her weight from one leg to another which was a clear sign of her apprehension which made Manik smirked. "Rachel I need you to do something.."

"What Sir.."she asked without looking at him because she couldn't dare to look at him as she could sense his gaze on her.

"I want your resignation letter within 10 minutes.."Manik's words shocked her to the core.

Her head snapped her. "What.."

"Yes Miss Rachel..you are fired.."Manik said grimly.

"But Sir..I didn't do anything.."Rachel's face turn pale as if someone has soaked her life out of her body.

"Exactly my point..You didn't do anything.."Manik's answer confused her even more."Didn't do anything...about what Sir.."

"As far as I remember your job profile include that no one is supposed to disturb me during working hours. Isn't it your responsibility to make sure that only those people who have appointments are entitled to meet me..Yes or No.."Manik questioned.

"Yes Sir.."Rachel nodded meekly.

"Then how come you let Nyonika in.."Manik retorted. "How did she just managed to barged into my office and waste my precious time like that...why didn't you stop her..don't you know that I don't meet people without appointment whoever that might be..then how come you let Nyonika in when you knew she didn't had an appointment.."

"But sir..she is your mother..that's why I thought.."Rachel tried to explain but unfortunately Manik didn't let her.

"You thought.."Manik's eyes widened in rage.

"Who gave you the right to think.." He yelled at her making her jump. "Did I hired you for this. Do I pay you for this. Answer Me.."

She simply shook her head.

"Do you think I give a damn about what you think and what you feel.."He got up from his seat and in few strides covered the distance between them. "No Miss Rachel.. Your only job is to follow the protocols set by me..you are hired to follow my instructions..that's it.."

"But of course since you have failed in your job miserably..it's high time you leave.."Manik went back to his seat."I want your resignation within 10 minutes..so now.."Manik dismissed her "..just leave"

"I am sorry sir..I am extremely sorry..it won't happen again..my whole family depends on me Sir..I am the only bread earner...please sir..please.."she begged.

"You think your melodrama would work on me..you should have thought about all these before you let Nyonika in...if you can't follow such simple instruction..then how can I expect you to take care of more intrinsic and complicated issues...I had high hopes for you..but unfortunately.."Manik shook his head in disappointment.

"Sir..please..please give me one last chance..just one...I won't ever repeat my mistake again...I won't disappoint you ever..Please Sir..one last chance..please.."Rachel implored. "I will do anything..Sir..just one last chance..please.."

"Anything.."Manik smirked.

"Yes Sir.."Rachel nodded. "Anything Sir.."

"No..I don't think so..what if you simply deny when I will ask you to fulfil your promise..No..I can't trust you.."Manik shook his head while faking disappointment.

"Sir..you have my words...whenever and whatever you will order...I will do that without any question.."Rachel said with determination.

"Fine then.."Manik said raising his eyebrows. "One last chance.."she sighed in relief. "But.."his words made her apprehensive all over again.

"...if you even dared to go back on your words...then I swear you will not only be fired but I will see to it personally that you don't get hired anywhere else ever again.."his words were enough to scare the living daylight out of her. "Do you understand.."

"Yes Sir."she whispered.

"Good " he smiled. "Now get back to work..and next time..don't even think of repeating this mistake again..or else there won't be any next time for you.."

She meekly nodded as her power of speech got lost somewhere.

"Now..leave " he said dismissively.

And the very next moment she rushed out of the room in such a hurry as if her existence was on fire.

"Man that was fun.."Manik smiled his devilishly. He pressed a button that was placed right under his desk..because of which the door of his cabin got automatically locked.

He pulled his phone out of his pocket and opening an app he punched a code in it.

And almost instantly the right hand side of the wall started to move and soon it slid opened revealing the wall that had Nandini's picture on it.

As soon as his eyes fell on her his facial expressions changed.

He was looking at her..as if a blind person was looking at the sun for the very first time...

His eyes were full of reverence and veneration..just for her..

His earlier irritation forgotten..and instant calmness took over his entire existing.

His breathing got eratic as he continued to stared into her deep brown orbs...His eyes became warm..infact..too warm as he got lost in her.

"Nandini.." he whispered.

He got up from his seat once again and walked till he was standing in front of her pictures.

Placing his hands on the picture he started to gently caress his beautiful face.

"You are my panacea Nandini.."

"You are the best therapy that I could ever get.."

"You relieve me from all problems and issues.."

"You soothe all my pain.."

"You make me forget about everything Nandini.."

"Just one look at you..and I get the power to fight with all the issues and problem that life throws at me.."

"You are my ultimate strength Nandini.."

"Thank you for walking into my life and making it beautiful.."

"I can't wait for the day when I will be saying all this to you in person.."

"Soon Nandini..very soon...that day will come to when you will be right in my arms..where you truly belong.."

"Can't wait for that day Nandini.."

He sighed as he continued to caress her face.

"Thank you for just breathing.."

"Thank you for just being a part of the very same world of which I am a part of.."

"I still remember the day when you walked into my life and changed everything.."

"And I will be always thankful to your "Aiyappa"for that.."

He smiled as he once again got lost into the memory of the day when for the very first time he laid his eyes oh her.
