hope's first snow
*Hope Clinton and Jack Gore enjoy their first ever snow fall! Thank you to ReneeThornton8 for helping me chapter! Enjoy! Love • Bree ❤️*
January 23, 2023
It is a cold and snowy day in Chappaqua, NY. But inside the Clinton home, it's all warm and cozy. Three month old Hope Clinton woke up this morning at 8:30 seeing the snow falling through her nursery window.
Al has been up with her since then. After a diaper change and a morning bottle, the two of them have just been hanging out in the living room. Playing together and watching Sesame Street.
Meanwhile, Bill, Hillary, and his wife Tipper are still sleeping. And sleeping in the crib near the bed he and his wife share is the newest addition to the Gore family: Jack William Gore. Born on December 4, 2022, their baby boy is now 7 weeks old.
The Gores were in New York since Al had a couple speaking engagements over the weekend. Jack did great on his first flight. On top of that, he, his wife, and their baby boy were gonna be on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert later in the week.
The Clintons came home from their January vacation to the U.S. Virgin Islands Saturday night after being there for just over 2 weeks. Henry and Mia watched Hope while they were away.
Bill and Hillary were supposed travel to Hawaii the week of their wedding anniversary. However, Hope's surprise arrival changed those plans and they'll be going in February instead.
It's now 10:15 am and Al and Hope are looking out the living room window at the snow coming down. He can't help but smile watching the world through his niece's eyes.
"Look at the beautiful snow, Hope. Isn't it beautiful? The Earth does amazing and truly incredible things. You and Jack will change the world just like your siblings already are." Al says as he softly kisses Hope's cheek.
Hope babbles as she tries to touch the window with her hand but can't quite reach, causing Al to smile. Al looks down at his Apple Watch and looks at the time.
"Everyone is sleeping in this morning, huh? Except for us, Maisie and Tally. What do you wanna do, niece? Do you want to cuddle? Let's do that." Al says as Hope babbles happily.
Al and Hope walk over to the couch and Al carefully lays down, placing Hope on his chest.
The two of them stay like that for a good fifteen minutes until Hillary comes downstairs and takes a picture of the two of them with her iPhone.
"Al? Hopey? How long have you two been up?" Hillary asks as she holds a wide awake baby Jack in her arms.
"Little Missy here was up at 8:30 and since I was up already, I got her so you and Bill could get some more sleep. How did you get Jack without waking Tipper up?" Al says curiously.
"I saw the door cracked open and heard him get fussy. So I quietly got him out of his crib before he could wake his mom up. She just slept right through. Oh and FYI, your son decided to pee on me." Hillary says with a smile and a giggle,
"Jack William Gore! How could you?" Al asks his son as he rubs his head of brown hair.
Jack smiles at his Dad in response just as Hope turns her head and sees her mama.
"Hi, princess! Are you enjoying one on one time with Uncle Al?" Hillary asks Hope in a babyfied voice and she babbles in response.
"Sweet girl. Hey Al, you wanna hold your son while I make him a bottle?" Hillary asks Al.
"I'd love to. Hand him over." Al says in response as Hillary places Jack in his left arm.
"I'll be back. You three stay out of trouble." Hillary playfully says as she kisses Hope's head and walks away.
"Look, Hope. It's your friend, Jack. Can you say hi?" Al happily asks the three month old and Hope grabs Jack's hand, causing him to coo at her.
"Yup, you two are definitely best friends." Al says with a smile.
But almost ten minutes later, he finds himself trying to calm his crying son down while holding his happy niece.
"Al, what the heck happened?" Hillary asks while looking concerned and holding Jack's bottle in her hand.
"Hope accidentally hit Jack in the face." Al explains.
"Hope Dorothy Virginia Clinton! We don't hit the baby. It's not nice. But I know you don't know any better since you are still a baby yourself." Hillary says to her daughter as she babbles in response.
"Can you take her? I gotta use both hands to calm Jack down." Al asks Hillary.
"Sure! I'll trade you his bottle for my baby daughter. Come on, sweetie. Let's go see if Daddy's up!" Hillary says happily as she takes Hope out of Al's arm and hands him the bottle.
"Aaaaaaa!" Hope squeals as she and Hillary head upstairs.
"Shhhhh..... you're okay, buddy. Hope didn't mean to hit you. It's okay." Al says softly as Jack finally calms down, his eyes looking directly at his Dad.
"There you go. Look what I got? A bottle just for you. You want it?" Al asks Jack.
Jack begins to root for the milk, indicating he is hungry and wants his bottle.
"There you go. Mmm, Auntie Hillary made a yummy bottle, didn't she? She is a pro at this."Al says as Jack happily drinks his milk.
"You and Hope will be trouble makers just like Henry and Sienna. They kept me, Mama, Uncle Bill and Auntie Hillary on our toes in the White House." Al says as Jack looks up at his Daddy.
Meanwhile, Hillary and Hope are now upstairs. Hope happily babbles and Hillary smiles at her.
"Uh-huh! You wanna see if Daddy's up? Let's go!" Hillary says happily as they go into her and Bill's bedroom.
Sure enough, Bill is still sleeping. But not for long as Hillary places Hope next to Bill on the bed.
"Wake Daddy up, Hope! Go ahead!" Hillary says as Hope starts to grab Bill's nose.
"Aaaaaaa!" Hope happily squeals in his ear.
"Ow!" Bill says, covering his ear.
"Well, good morning to you sleepyhead." Hillary says playfully as she kisses Bill on the lips.
"Good morning to two of my favorite ladies. Hi, babe. And hi, Hopey!" Bill says to Hillary and than to Hope.
Hope happily smiles at her Daddy and squeals causing Hillary to smile.
"She has been using her voice all morning! She has been talking to Al, Jack, the dogs, me and now you." Hillary says proudly.
Bill wraps his arm around Hope and Hope lays her head on Bill's chest.
"Join us in bed, darling." Bill says, patting the bed with his spare arm.
"It's almost eleven! We need to get up and start our day! Hope has already had her morning bottle and a small nap and we are just getting up." Hillary says.
"Is Tipper awake?" Bill asks curiously.
"I'm not sure! She wasn't earlier when I got Jack. I heard Jack fussing so I brought him down. You know Tipper is super tired when she sleeps through a baby fussing. Al and Jack are downstairs now." Hillary says to Bill.
"Well, I know Jack hasn't been the best sleeper lately due to a growth spurt, so it makes sense why Tipper and Al try to sleep when they can." Bill says to Hillary.
"Right. Why don't we go see if she's awake now?" Bill asks his wife.
"Sure! But first, you gotta brush your teeth mister!" Hillary says playfully as she wags her finger in Bill's face.
"Okay, fine." Bill says as he starts to make a pouty face, causing Hope to copy him.
"Just like her Daddy." Hillary says as she shakes her head.
Taking a little longer than usual due to Hope loving to look at herself in the mirror, Bill was able to brush his teeth and wash up. The trio are then able to wake Tipper up after Hope squeals in her ear too.
Pretty soon, the four friends are downstairs enjoying breakfast while the babies are doing tummy time on Hope's playmat.
Bill, Hillary, Al and Tipper are having omelets, chocolate chip pancakes and some fruit for breakfast.
*Bill, Hope, Hillary, Al, Jack and Tipper's pajamas*
"Look at Jack holding his head up!" Bill says as he watches Jack and Hope together.
"He's been able to do this for a few weeks! It has taken lots of patience and lots of tummy time. Jack use to hate tummy time but now he loves it." Tipper says happily and proud of her baby boy.
"Hope has always loved it but I think she loves doing it on us more." Bill says with a chuckle.
Hope begins to attempt to roll on her left side, where Jack is doing tummy time.
"Hopey, don't roll that way! Roll the other way! You will roll on Jack!" Hillary says with chuckle.
"She can roll? Oh my goodness!" Tipper says as her face lights up.
"Yes, ma'am! She started rolling a few days ago actually! It is pretty early since she is only three months old and most babies don't roll until after that." Hillary says proudly.
"She's an over achiever just like her mom." Al says proudly.
"Of course she is, and I couldn't be anymore proud." Hillary says in response.
"Oh, no. Hope is gonna roll over onto Jack." Bill says as he gets his phone out to record.
Right on cue, Hope does that. Squishing Jack and causing him to cry again.
"My poor son. She's been picking on him all morning." Al says with a chuckle.
"Honey, Hope is a baby! She doesn't know any better." Tipper says in response.
"You'll say that until they are toddlers and fighting." Al says back, causing the four adults to laugh.
"Let's go get our babies." Hillary says as the two ladies walk over and get them off the playmat.
Hillary and Tipper pick up Hope and Jack and they hold their babies close to their chests.
"Come to Mama, Jack. Shh shh, it's okay." Tipper says as Jack instantly calms down.
"Are you picking on Jack? Hmm?" Hillary asks Hope and Hope babbles.
"Hopey isn't being mean on purpose, Jack. You two are best friends! Being a baby is tough huh?" Tipper says to Jack and Jack coos.
"Maisie and Tally, off the baby mat." Bill says to the dogs.
"They are fine, Billy." Hillary says playfully to Bill.
Bill rolls his eyes and Hope babbles at her Daddy.
"Bill, I think Hope is telling you to stop rolling your eyes at her mommy." Al playfully says in response.
"You're right princess." Bill says as he blows Hope a kiss.
The two ladies walk back to the table with the babies and sit down. But then, Hope decides pulls on Hillary's hair.
"Ow! Hope, you are being a little bully today." Hillary says while playfully scolding her daughter and Hope babbling again at her mama.
"Sounds like someone's trying to plead their case." Al says as he smiles at his niece.
"Hope Dorothy Virginia Clinton. You've been accused of baby squishing and hair pulling. How do you plead?" Bill asks his daughter.
Hope happily babbles at her Daddy, causing everyone to smile.
Jack burps causing everyone to chuckle.
"Uh oh, are you getting reflux buddy? Do you need some medicine?" Tipper asks Jack and Jack coos loudly.
"I'll get it." Al says as he heads upstairs to get medicine.
Not too long after, he's back down and gives it to Jack.
"There you go, bud. You should be fine now." Al says as he rubs Jack's head of brown hair, causing Jack to smile.
"All that hair and those gorgeous eyes!" Hillary says with a smile.
"I know. He's all my husband. No wonder I had heartburn!" Tipper says, causing everyone to laugh.
Suddenly, Al gets a FaceTime call and it's their daughter Kristin.
"Hi, Kristin!" Al says happily as he waved at the camera.
"Hi, Dad! You forgot to text Karenna and I when you, mom, and Jack landed!" Kristin says while giving her Dad the side eye.
"I'm sorry, Krissi. Your mom and I were tired and on top of my speaking engagements over the weekend, we didn't have the time to text you." Al explains.
"It's okay." Kristin says in response.
"Where are those sweet granddaughters and that son-in-law of ours?" Tipper asks in the background.
"Hi, mom! The girls are napping right now and Damian's working, but something tells me they'll be awake any minute. Where's my adorable baby brother?" Kristin says with a giggle
"He's being held by your mom right now. Bill, Hillary, and Hope are here too. You wanna see them?" Al asks his daughter.
"Hi, Uncle Bill, Auntie Hillary and Hopey!" Kristin says with a cheeky smile.
"Hello, Kristin! It is so nice to see you!" Bill says with a grin.
"Hello, Kirs!" Hillary says as Hope babbles loudly in her arms.
"Aww, hi Hope! You are babbling so much!" Kristin says with a smile.
"She is! Loves to talk just like her Mama." Bill says, rubbing Hope's hand.
Tipper walks over to Al, showing herself and Jack.
"Jack! You wanna say hi to your big sister? Say, Hi Kristin!" Tipper says in a babyfied voice, causing Jack to coo and smile at Al's phone screen.
"Hi, baby brother! I love your pajamas! Have you been a good boy for Mommy and Daddy?" Kristin asks him.
"A sweetheart. I love my little buddy." Al says as he kisses his son in the cheek.
5 minutes later
"Mommy!" Kristin's daughters, Harper and Kinsley yell happily as they come downstairs.
"Hi, girlies. Come here! Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Bill, Auntie Hillary, and the babies are on the phone!" Kristin says happily.
"HIIIII!" Harper and Kinsley both yell happily as they wave and smile at Al, Tipper and Jack.
"Hi, babies! Nana misses you two!" Tipper says to the girls with a grin.
Jack coos loudly and smiles at his sister and nieces.
"Jack Jack is smiling, Mommy!" Harper says with a little giggle.
"He is! Look at that cute smile!" Kirstin says with a grin.
"Where's Hopey?" Kinsley asks curiously.
"She's right here with her mommy and daddy. I'll flip my camera." Al says as he flips his iPhone camera around to show the Clintons.
"Hope! Say hi!" Hillary says to Hope and she squeals happily
"Hi, girls!" Bill says as he waves at the screen.
"Hi!" Kinsley and Harper say as they wave hello to Bill, Hillary, and Hope.
"Any plans for today, mom?" Kristin asks her mother proudly as Al flips his iPhone camera again to show himself, Tipper, and Jack.
"Yup! The babies are gonna have a fun snow day; Their first one!" Tipper says happily as she bounces Jack in her arms.
"Question: Do you girls and Damian wanna come by later? You'll get to see the babies!" Hillary asks Kristin.
"We'd love to. Wouldn't we, girlies?" Kristin asks her daughter.
"Yeah! Snow day with Hopey and Jack Jack!" Kinsley says as she dances around.
"That settles it. I'll call Damian and let him know so he can swoop us up and won't have to drive separate cars." Kristin says to her Dad.
"Great! Well we're gonna get ready over here and we'll see you four later today, okay?" Al says to his daughter.
"Okay, Grampy!" Harper and Kinsley both say in unison, interrupting Kirstin.
"Okay, Dad! Love you, Mom, Auntie Hillary, Uncle Bill and Hopey!" Kerstin says, blowing lots of kisses to everyone.
After finishing the FaceTime call, Bill, Hillary, Tipper and Al finish eating their breakfast and the men begin to clean up.
"I know we gotta change into some actual clothes, but first: Pajamas Photoshoot!" Tipper says with excitement.
"Oh, man! Knowing Henry, he's gonna think this is extra when we post some of these later." Hillary says while thinking about her son.
"Oh, what does he know?" Bill asks playfully.
"Jack? Hope? You two want to get your pictures taken in your jammies?" Al asks both baby and they respond with babbles and smiles.
"That answers that. Let's do it!" Hillary says happily as she kisses Hope's cheeks.
After a fun photoshoot, Tipper, Jack, Hillary and Hope all go upstairs to change into some clothes and out of their pajamas for the day.
"Hill, oh my Lord, you know what I just realized?" Tipper says to Hillary.
"What's that, Tip?" Hillary says to Tipper.
"I don't have a snow suit for Jack! And none of his clothes wouldn't be warm enough for him to be in the snow long. I don't even think we even have a snow suit for Jack." Tipper says with a sigh, realizing the snow day was ruined.
"No it's not! Hillary and I have another snowsuit." Bill says as he bounces a happy Hope in his arms
"You do?" Al asks him and Hillary.
"Yup! We weren't sure how big Hope would be by the time the first snow happened. So we got a 0-3 month snowsuit and a 3-6 month snowsuit. He can wear the smaller one." Hillary says with a smile
"What color is it?" Tipper asks.
"Pink." Bill answers back with a nervous smile.
"Oh, Jack is going to hate us. Especially once he sees the pictures when he's older." Tipper says as smiles down at her son who has his favorite pacifier in his mouth
"Right. Usually boys and the color pink don't mix. But he's just gonna have to roll with it. I did after having four daughters." Al asks as he looks at his son with a smile.
"He'll look so cute! Hopey too! Let's get them dressed." Hillary says with a smile as she places Hope on the bed.
Tipper places Jack next to Hope and she and Hillary begin to get the babies all bundled up to go outside.
*Hope and Jack's outfits*
"They looks so stinking cute! Oh, we need pictures of this!" Hillary says as she giggles and smiles at the two babies all bundled in many layers, looking like pink snowmen.
*Jack and Hope's snowsuits*
"They look like two big pink marshmallows. Two that could be used for s'mores." Bill says with a chuckle as he takes pictures of the babies with his iPhone.
"I know! Literally one of my favorite camping treats. Maybe we can make some later tonight!" Al says with a smile.
"That's a great idea! My grandkids love them! I'll see what we got downstairs in the kitchen later." Hillary says in response.
Hope starts to giggle at her Daddy and the camera.
"It should be illegal for you to be this cute, Hope! Do you love your Daddy?" Tipper asks Hope in a babyfied voice as she picks her up off the bed, kissing her on the cheek.
"Aaaaaaa!" Hope squeals with excitement.
"Jeez, she has a voice! And I'll take that as a yes." Hillary says while her ears are covered.
"Like I said, she's been using it all day today." Al says as he smiles at his wife and niece together
However, Jack started to get fussy, not being a big fan of the pink snowsuit.
"Aww, Jack! Come here! It's okay! You are so stinking cute in Hopey's snowsuit! You need to stay warm, we can't have you or Hopey sick!" Hillary says to Jack as Jack focuses on Hillary's necklace, trying to look at it and isn't fussing.
"That necklace needs some names added soon!" Bill says with a wink.
"It does! I really need to add Jordan's name now. I didn't realize he noticed the names on my necklace, so he had to be added along with Henry and Mia's baby boy and Chelsea and Marc's baby girl." Hillary says as she kisses Jack.
"That is so fun! A boy and a girl around the same time!" Tipper says with excitement.
"It's kinda like twins!" Al says with a chuckle.
"And I need to know Henry and Mia's baby boy's name!" Tipper says being impatient.
"They're going to reveal his name next month and Chelsea and Marc will be doing the same. Their social media will likely reveal it all." Hillary explains while rubbing Jack's back.
"Will they reveal the babies' names at the same time like they did the genders at your Christmas party our families had at your DC mansion?" Al asks with a smile.
"Yup! We'll find out what day by I think next week." Bill answers back.
"Ooooo! That's not far away. I'm so impatient." Tipper says with a sigh
"Just like you couldn't wait for us to move into the VP residence while renovations were being done to it." Al says playfully to his wife before kissing her on the cheek.
"I couldn't help it, Al. I wanted to get Henry's nursery made before he was born. You know how I am when we're on a time crunch. Babies come whenever they want to just like this baby girl and our baby boy did." Tipper says as Hope smiles at her.
"Bill, you thought it was bad when Henry was a baby and my wife spoiled him. It's gonna be worse for Hope since she's a girl." Al says with a chuckle.
"Oh, I know. A whole bunch of pretty girl clothes. But Hill and I wouldn't have it any other way. Right, princess?" Bill asks his daughter and she starts to coo at him.
Just then, Jack pulls on Hillary's hair. Wanting some attention from the adults.
"Ow! Jack, we're sorry baby. You want some attention too?" Hillary asks the almost two month old.
Jack coos causing Tipper and Hillary to smile.
Maisie and Tally chase each other around the hall causing everyone to chuckle.
"Are you ready to go outside? Are you ready?" Hillary says to Jack and Hope.
Both babies happily babble, getting excited even though the don't know what to expect.
"Just got a text from Kristin. Her, Damian, and the girls are pulling up to the gate in about five minutes." Al says to Bill.
"Got it. I'll let Secret Service know to let them inside." Bill says as he walks away to call them.
"Are you excited to see your big sister? It's been a couple weeks since she's you face to face. Yeah!" Tipper says as she taps Jack on the nose.
"Let's all go downstairs!" Hillary says as the six all go out of Bill and Hillary's room and head downstairs.
Once downstairs, the adults begin to put their coats on and get ready to go outside.
"I'll hold her, Hill." Bill says as he puts his arms out wanting to hold Hope.
"Hopey, go to Daddy. Mommy needs to get her coat on." Hillary says as Hope babbles.
"Come to Daddy, Jack!" Al says as he takes Jack from Tipper and kisses him.
"He's still gonna be embarrassed about being in a pink snowsuit." Al says as Jack coos.
"It will be a cute picture when he is older!" Tipper says as she takes a picture of Al and Jack together.
"I supposed you're right." Al says while winking at his wife.
*Knocking on the door*
"I wonder who it is, Jack? Let's go see!" Al says to Jack.
"Dad! It's your daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters. Let us in. It's cold!" Kristin says playfully from the other side of the door.
"Please?" Harper and Kinsley both say in unison.
Al opens the door to let them in and Jack gets excited to see his big sister.
"Hi, Jack Jack!" Kristin says happily as she takes her brother from her Dad and kisses him on the cheek, causing Jack to smile.
"Hey! Jack gets all the hellos before I do?" Al says while being playfully offended.
"Hi to you too, Dad. I haven't seen Jack in person since I think Christmas. Plus, he's so cute!" Kristin says as she hugs her father.
"Go see Nana, girlies. She's right there!" Damian says as he point to where his mother-in-law is.
*Harper and Kinsley's outfits*
"Nana!" Harper and Kinsley say as they both run to give their grandma a hug.
"Hi! It's so good to see you girls!" Tipper says, kissing Harper and Kinsley.
Kristin hugs Tipper next before walking over to greet Bill, Hope and Hillary.
"Jack Jack is wearing a pink snow suit!" Harper says as she giggles loudly.
"Aww! He is sooo cute though! Hopey too!" Kinsley says with a giggle.
"Hi, Hope! You have chubby cheeks just like your brother did. Yeah!" Kristin says in a babyfied voice as Hope tries to grab Jack again.
"Aaaaaaa!" Hope yells happily as Bill takes her hand away.
"Oh no you don't, little Missy. Sorry, Kristin. But she's been messing with your brother all day." Bill says with a chuckle.
"What? How? She's a baby!" Kristin asks with a puzzled look on her face.
"My thoughts exactly." Damian says, agreeing with his wife.
"It reminds me so much of Henry and Sienna. It's so cute! But we can't have Hope be a bully!" Hillary says to Kristin.
"And look at them now, best friends! Hope and Jack will get there! They are friends now I think." Tipper says with a big smile.
"Who's ready to play in the snow?" Bill says causing Harper and Kinsley to cheer.
"Meeeeee!" Harper and Kinsley both say in unison and Jack and Hope babble happily in agreement
"Then let's go!" Damian says as he opens the door, letting everyone outside.
Everyone looks in awe at all the snow on the ground and the light snow coming down. Causing the babies eyes to light up with wonder.
"Oooooo!" Harper says as she twirls around.
"It's pretty, Grandpa!" Kinsley says to him.
"It is isn't it?" Al says as he bends down with Jack so he could feel the snow.
"Look, Hopey! It's snow! Your first ever snow! And Jack's too!" Bill says in a babyfied voice as Hope squeaks happily.
Bill then bends down just like Al so Hope could feel the snow too.
"We are getting old! I don't know if I'll be able to get up!" Al says as Bill laughs loudly.
"Me too! These two are keeping us fit, that's for sure! And our grandbabies!" Bill says to Al.
"You two will be just fine." Hillary says proudly.
"She's right. You two did it in your 40's while being two of the most powerful men in the world. You can do it now." Tipper as she takes pictures of them.
"Daddy! Snow angels!" Kinsley says as she and her sister make snow angels.
"Wow, I love them!" Damian says happily.
Maisie and Tally try to run in the snow but it is a little too deep.
"Bill, the dogs need a path. They can't walk through it." Hillary says to Bill.
"I'll do it, Mr. Bill!" Damian says offering to help.
"Oh no you don't, mister. You just recovered from an ankle injury a few weeks ago because you weren't careful walking on ice. I don't want you hurting yourself." Kristin says to her husband.
"But....." Damian says trying to defend himself.
"Damian!" Tipper says sternly to her son-in-law, giving him the sign that he's not going to win.
"Okay, fine. But If I can't do it, who will?" Damian asks curiously.
"I'll let a couple of our agents do that. Bill's definitely not doing it with all that's going on with his health." Hillary says proudly.
"And Al isn't either. He hurt his back just building a swing." Tipper says.
"How does that even happen?" Kristin says as she tries to not laugh.
"Because I decided to carry the heavy box by myself and I just can't do that anymore." Al says.
Hope and Jack continue to look at the snow while Hillary and Tipper take many pictures.
"Hope? Can I get a smile?" Hillary says as she smiles at her Daddy.
"Do you want to build a snowman?" Kristin says in a singsong voice to her daughters.
"Yeah!" Harper says happily
After a few minutes, two little snowmen are made and Harper and Kinsley hide behind them
"Peek-a-boo!" Kinsley and Harper say as they jump from behind the snowmen, causing Hope to laugh and Jack to laugh for the first time ever.
"Jack, you're laughing!" Kristin says as she grabs Jack from her Dad and kisses his rosy cheeks.
Al and Tipper smile at the sight of their daughter enjoying being a big sister again.
"Damian? Do you think another baby is in the cards for you two?" Bill asks him.
"I think that ship has sailed. We're content with our two girls. But considering what happened to you and my mother-in-law back in the 90s and last year, who knows?" Damian says as he smile at his wife and baby brother-in-law.
"You never know is right! We all didn't think we would have babies in our 70's but here we are! We have Hope and Jack." Hillary says as Bill bounces Hope in his arms.
"For the most part, she's happy with me. Right, princess?" Bill asks his baby daughter.
Hope babbles and smiles at her Daddy.
"I think it's time to bring the babies inside, it's getting colder out here!" Hillary says to everyone.
"Yeah it is! Let's get these two cuties inside. Harper, Kinsley, are you two ready to come inside?" Tipper says to the twins.
Both girls nod at their Nana and try to walk out the snow.
"You two need help?" Damian asks his daughters
"No." The girls say in unison, but end up falling into the snow face first as their mom records.
Al hands Jack to Tipper before he and Damian walk over and pick up the girls, carrying the girls inside.
"There's the girls!" Kristin says with a big grin.
"We fell in the snow! Grandpa and Daddy helped us!" Kinsley says with a giggle.
"Yeah! They carried us!" Harper says with a smile.
Maisie and tally run around the house, running their bodies all over the furniture trying to dry off.
"Maisie and Tally! No!" Hillary says to the dogs sternly.
"Too late." Bill says as everyone laughs at the dogs.
"Those two crazy dogs." Al says while shaking his head.
"Who wants some hot chocolate?" Hillary asks everyone
"Meeeeee!" Harper and Kinsley say happily.
"Oh my God, that sounds so good. The prefect thing to warm us up." Kristin says with a smile.
"Can we have marshmallows in ours, Nana?" Kinsley asks curiously.
"Sure you can. Hill and I will go make some right now!" Tipper as she passes Jack to Kristin and Hillary passes Hope to Damian.
"We'll hang up all the coats." Bill says as he and Al carry the coats away.
"Damian and I will get the babies out of their snowsuits. We're here now, so let us try to help however we can." Kristin says as she kisses Jack on the cheek.
"And it's most appreciated. I love you, Krissi." Tipper says as she blows a kiss back to her daughter.
"Love you back, mom!" Kristin says as her Tipper walks away with Hillary.
"Can we help, Daddy?" Harper asks curiously.
"Of course you gorgeous girls can." Damian says with a smile as he kisses his daughters' cheeks.
20 minutes later
"Hope, you are a wiggle worm. My goodness!" Damian says as he tries to put Hope's diaper on.
"What's going on in here?" Hillary asks with a smile as she and bring in hot chocolate for everyone.
"Your daughter is being a wiggle worm. She doesn't wanna stay still. This is definitely something I don't miss when my girls were babies." Damian says with a giggle.
"Not even Jack is like being like this. He's so content. Did Hope learn how to roll over or something?" Kristin asks as she snaps Jack's onesie back together.
"Yes! She rolls over now! She can roll on both sides and onto her back and tummy. She rolled on Jack earlier." Hillary says as she smiles at Hope as Damian holds her.
Kristin giggles and holds Jack close to her.
"Jeez mom, you are giving me baby fever." Kristin says with a smile.
"Well, I know it was hard for you and Damian to have these two beautiful girls and what blessings they are." Tipper says as she watches Harper and Kinsley with Bill and Al.
"How's you're hot chocolate, girlies? Is it good?" Hillary asks the twins with a smile.
"Mmmmm!" Harper and Kinsley say in unison.
"I'll take that as them saying it's really good. But it's the truth. You do make some of the best hot chocolate ever." Bill says to his wife with a smile.
"It's perfect for a cold and snowy day like today." Al says in agreement.
"Daddy? Can the babies have some hot chocowate?" Harper asks while holding her cup out.
"Not yet, sweetie." Damian says.
"No? Why not?" Harper says with a sad look on her face
"Yeah. Why?" Kinsley says curiously.
"Because they are too little still! They will be able to have some next winter!" Damian says to the girls.
Hope babbles loudly as she smiles at the girls. Meanwhile, Jack yawns and lays his head on Kirstin.
"You're a sweetie, Jack Jack. Are you getting sleepy?" Kristin asks her baby brother softly as he grabs her shirt.
"I think he is. He loves his big sister. You want me to take him? Tipper asks her daughter.
"No. I'll hold him for a little while, mom. He won't be little forever and I don't get to see him as often as Sienna does." Kristin answers back, kissing Jack on the top of his head of brown hair
"Don't remind me. Jack has been on Earth for almost two months and has grown so much." Al says proudly as he takes a picture of his daughter and baby boy.
Kristin smiles as Jack cuddles onto her chest.
Hope babbles some more as Damian continues to hold her.
"Do you want your Mommy or Daddy, Hope? Hmm?" Damian says as Hope babbles.
"I think she wants her Mama." Damian says, and Hillary smiles.
"Right? Jack is just over seven pounds now and I can't believe it. Along with all that hair just like you, Al. Before you became a silver fox, of course." Tipper says proudly as she leans over to give her husband a kiss.
"Oh, brother." Kristin says while rolling her eyes.
"Kristin Carlson Faith? Did you roll your eyes, young lady?" Tipper says while looking at her with a strict look.
"Ummm...yes. Sorry." Kristin says to her mom with a nervous smile.
"Don't forget, Kris. Just because you're an adult doesn't mean your mom can't still put you in your place." Hillary says, causing the other adults to chuckle.
"Thanks a lot, Auntie Hill." Kristin says playfully as Damian winks at her.
"Thank you for the hot chocolate. It was really good." Damian says as he puts his mug down.
"Damian, you are welcome. Your mother-in-law and I loved making it for the kids when they got home from school in the winter. Especially in DC." Hillary says with a smile while thinking.
"Try making it for three teenagers like I did in 95'." Tipper says playfully, making everyone giggle
Hope then yawns and curls up in a ball in Damian's arms.
"It seems you're ready for a nap too, Hope." Damian says softly with a smile, kissing her on the forehead.
"Uncle Billy? I'm sleepy." Harper says while she yawns.
"You and your sister played in the snow. That's what wore you out along with that warm hot chocolate your Nana and Hillary made for you." Bill says as he takes Harper's empty plastic mug from her.
"This one is out for the count. Look. Definitely ready for a nap." Al says softly as he points at Kinsley. Sleeping in his lap as his wife takes a picture of the girls, him, and Bill.
"You two can lay the girls down in one of the other bedrooms." Hillary suggests.
"These babies are going in their cribs. I just hope they don't wake up when we try to put them down." Damian says while looking down at a sleeping Hope.
"Don't jinx it." Kristin playfully says back.
"You four take the littles upstairs and lay them down. Hill and I will gather up the mugs." Tipper as Bill, Al, Damian, and Kristin get up and take the little ones upstairs.
A Few Hours Later
7:15pm
After having dinner and the babies had their bottles, Hillary, Tipper, and Kristin are getting all the things to make s'mores. Damian is getting the fireplace ready while Bill and Al are supervising the twins, who are playing with the babies on the floor.
"Hopey! You got chubby cheeks!" Harper says as she pokes Hope's left cheek, making her smile.
"She loves you, Harper. Don't you, princess?" Bill says as he smiles at Hope.
"Aaaaaa!" Hope squeals happily.
"Why are Jack Jack's cheeks not chubby like Hope's, Grampy?" Kinsley asks curiously while giving him one of Hope's toys.
"Well, Jack is younger than Hope! Hope is three months old while Jack is only a month and a half. Hope has had more time to grow and get bigger." Al explains to the girls.
"But I think Jack will catch up to Hope! They'll probably be the same size soon!" Bill says with a grin.
Jack holds his head up and looks at his Dad. Al holds a small stuffed animal for Jack to see.
"Hi, buddy. Is that little bear soft?" Al asks his son.
Jack decides to smile and coo at Kinsley and Al in response.
"Handsome little man. You smile just like your late auntie Nancy." Al says while rubbing his head of brown hair.
"Where is she?" Harper asks curiously.
"Well, girls, she She passed away from lung cancer when she was forty-six, so she didn't live long enough to meet Sienna or Jack. She would've turned 85 years old today." Al says with a sad look on his face.
"You know she would've been so proud of you." Bill says while smiling at Al.
"I know she would. The way Sienna and Jack smile like her is like my sister coming back to me through them." Al says while looking at a picture of Sienna and Jack on his iPhone.
Hope babbles causing Jack to smile at her.
"Aww! Is Hopey making you smile? Look at that big smile!" Hillary says with a big grin.
"Doesn't be look like Al?" Tipper asks everyone as she takes a picture of Hope and Jack smiling at each other.
"I see you, Mom!" Kristin says with a cheeky grin.
"You do? I think he's all your Dad. Especially the hair!" Tipper says with a smile as puts the graham crackers and marshmallows down.
Bill picks up Hope and Al picks up Jack and they each hold their baby close.
"Jack! Can I get a smile?" Kristin asks as Jack smiles at his big sister, taking a picture of her Dad and baby brother
"He's been smiling often these past couple weeks." Damian says.
"Jack started to smile once he was just over a month old. I'm a proud mama!" Tipper as she sits down next to her husband., kissing Jack's cheeks
"How are you doing over there, Bill?" Hillary asks him and he holds Hope in his arms, putting down the Hershey's chocolate and Reese's cups
"Great. Hope's favorite spot in her Daddy's arms. Right?" Bill asks Hope as he kisses her cheeks.
"Aaaaaa!" Hope yells happily.
"Definitely a Daddy's girl." Kristin says with a smile
"Grampy, she's loud!" Harper says as she and Kinsley cover their ears.
"She definitely loves to talk just like her mommy." Al says while playfully winking at Hillary
"I heard that! She's spoiled." Hillary says back with sass.
"Babies don't understand loud and quiet just yet! They just scream because they are learning how to use their voice." Kristin explains to her girls.
"Hi, Hopey! Hi, baby girl!" Hillary says in a babyfied voice.
"She looks just like Hillary did as a baby. Chels and Henry looked a lot like either me or my mother." Bill says as he looks at Hope and kisses her.
"Chelsea looks so much like Mrs Virginia, especially when she was younger. Now I see lots of Hillary." Tipper says with a grin.
"Two of my favorite ladies in my life." Bill says as Hillary smiles.
"I see Clinton in Hope but I think she has more Rodham in her. Sorry Bill." Hillary says playfully.
"It's okay! Genetics are so unique for everyone. Hope looks like you and your mother. But she has the Clinton eyes." Bill says proudly.
"I suppose you're right. What are you looking at, Hope?" Hillary asks
Hope stares at the bags of Hershey chocolate and Reese's cups on the floor.
"Somebody's into sweets like her big brother. When you have enough teeth, Mommy will let you eat one. Deal?" Hillary asks Hope and she gives her a gummy smile.
"At the very least, Auntie. Let her lick a marshmallow. It's not too sweet." Kristin says with a smile
"Oh, alright. As long as she doesn't eat it." Hillary says,
Al gets a marshmallow out the bag and gives it to Bill, the latter letting Hope hold it.
"You wanna taste it, Princess. Open up!" Bill says as Hillary holds it to her mouth and Hope licks it with her tongue.
"I think she likes it. Nice and puffy. Just like her cheeks are." Tipper says as she leans over to kiss Hope's cheeks, causing the latter to coo at her.
"You spoil her so much. Got her addicted to sweets like you did Henry. Giving the then 4 month old a piece of gingerbread to chew on." Hillary says playfully.
"Hillary, I didn't want my baby godson to be unhappy. He was already a fussy boy because of teething and it wasn't that sweet." Tipper explains.
"She's got a point." Al says as he smiles at his wife and kisses Jack on his forehead.
"Hi, Jack Jack!" Kinsley says loudly at Jack, startling the seven week old and causing him to cry.
"Dad, I can take him if you want." Kristin offers, holding her arms out and Al passes Jack off to his big sister.
"Shhhhh...you're okay. She didn't mean to scare you." Kristin says softly as she bounces her brother and Jack calms down.
Damian coming to where everyone is after getting the fire going.
"Kinsley Ariel Kulash, you scared Jack. What do we say when we do something wrong?" Damian asks her.
"I'm sorry, Jack." Kinsley says while holding her head in shame.
Kristin says inside her head "Wow, these two would be good big sisters."
"That's my girl." Damian says as he hugs Kinsley.
"Good job, sissy." Harper says as she gives her sister the thumbs up.
"Nana? Grampy? I'm sorry." Kinsley says to her grandparents
"It's okay. You just gotta be more mindful next time, sweet girl. Babies can get startled easily." Al explains.
Jack, seeing Kinsley sad, coos at her and gives her a little smile.
"See? He forgives you. You wanna give Jack Jack a kiss?" Kristin asks Kinsley.
Kinsley nods her head and crawls to where her mom and Jack are kissing the top of his head.
"Now that that's over with, who's ready for s'mores?" Hillary asks happily.
"Meeeee! Meeeee!" Kinsley and Harper both say happily
-
After roasting some marshmallows and putting the s'mores together, everybody is happily enjoying them!
"Mmmmm! This is good!" Damian says with his mouth full
"Damian, don't talk with your mouth full. It's rude." Kristin says, scolding her husband playfully.
"Sorry." Damian says while blushing.
"It's good Daddy!" Harper says with a big smile.
"It is. You got marshmallow on your face." Damian says as he uses a paper towel to wipe it off.
"Chelsea loved making and eating these at camp. And it seems Henry got that addiction from her." Hillary says while thinking about her two adult kids.
"You aren't lying." Bill says as he looks down at Hope holding another marshmallow.
"It's soft isn't it, baby girl? Hmm?" Bill says as Hope coos.
-
After everyone has a few s'mores, Hillary, Kristin and Tipper all clean up while Bill, Al and Damian are sitting in the living room with Hope, Jack, Harper, Kinsley, Tally and Maisie.
"Kristin, I think you, Damian and the girls should stay." Tipper says to Kristin as she looks out the window.
"Why is that, Mom?" Kristin says to Tipper in confusion.
"It's snowing again! Looks like a few more inches on the ground." Tipper says to Kristin.
"Oh my, it is!" Hillary says as she puts the dishes in the dish washer and looks out the window.
"I didn't expect a snow storm!" Kristin says to Tipper and Hillary with a chuckle.
"You, Damian and the girls can definitely stay! We have plenty of room!" Hillary says to Kristin.
"Oh, alright. If you say so." Kristin says as she looks at her husband.
"Yay!" Harper and Kinsley both say in unison as they dance around
"Of course. Because I want my little girl, her husband, and my granddaughters to be safe. The roads are too slick now." Al says as he kisses his daughter on the cheek.
"Dad, you're embarrassing me." Kristin says rolling her eyes.
"As your father, it is my job. You may be grown Kristin, but you'll always be my little girl." Al says proudly with a smile.
"But there's one problem. We don't have pajamas for the girls or us." Damian says as he facepalms
"Yes we do. Remember, we always pack an extra set of clothes and sometimes pj's for the girls when they go to preschool. They didn't go today, so their backpacks are still in the car." Kristin explains with a smile.
"And let me guess, you did that for for each of us too?" Damian asks.
"Yup! Just in case this happened. I did that while you were away making music." Kristin answers back.
"Another reason why I love you. You're always prepared." Damian says as he kisses Kristin on the lips
Harper and Kinsley cover their eyes as their mom and dad kiss.
"Ewwww!" Harper and Kinsley say in unison, giggling.
"If I may recall, you and your siblings did that when you were little kids. But I couldn't help that I wanted to kiss your mom every chance I got." Al says as he kisses his wife.
"All that kissing led to y'all having six kids, including that sweet baby boy you have now." Bill says playfully pointing at Jack laying on a playmat with Hope, causing Al and Tipper to blush.
Everyone heads upstairs go get ready for bed for the night.
Hillary and Tipper get Hope and Jack dressed in their pajamas and ready while Bill and Al are taking the dogs outside one more time.
Kristin helps Harper and Kinsley get ready for bed and then the girls run over to Hope's nursery where Hillary, Tipper, Hope and Jack are.
*Harper and Kinsley's pajamas*
"Nana, can we help her Jack and Hope ready for bed?" Harper says as she twirls happily.
"Yeah! We wanna help!" Kinsley says with big grin.
"Sure you can! You two wanna pick out some pajamas for the babies?" Tipper asks her granddaughters.
"Uh huh!" Kinsley and Harper say in unison as they look at the two pairs of pajamas for each of the babies laid out.
*Hope and Jack's pajamas*
"Good choices! Let's put these on the babies. Can you two help?" Hillary asks them
Both Harper and Kinsley nod their heads yes and help her and their Nana get Jack and Hope in their pajamas.
"Nana? Mommy and Daddy said you, Grampy, and Jack are gonna be on TV tomorrow? Harper asks curiously.
"Yup! We're gonna be on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. You two might be sleep by the time it comes on." Tipper says to Harper.
"I love Stephen. He's funny." Kinsley says with a smile
"He really is. Laughter is very important." Hillary says to the girls.
Hope starts to babble as she wiggles around while her mom tries to put her diaper on.
"Hope Clinton! You do not wanna be still today, missy!" Hillary says to Hope while laughing
"She's a wiggle worm!" Kinsley says happily
"She is. Just like you two were as babies. Now look at you!" Hillary says with a smile
"One thing I'm glad I don't have to go through that much with Jack right now. But that day is coming!" Tipper says while doing the same thing.
Giving Hillary the side eye, Jack yawns and then looks up at his mama
"I saw that side eye, Jack! But Aunt Hillary loves you!" Hillary says as Jack coos at Hillary and Tipper.
"My happy boy. Did you girls pick out pajamas for the babies?" Tipper asks as she tickles Jack's belly, causing him to giggle
"We did!" Harper says as she and Kinsley give their grandma and Hillary the pajamas.
Then the two ladies read a bedtime story to the kids. One of Hillary and Chelsea's children's books: Grandma's Gardens
Fifteen minutes later, Kristin, Damian, Bill, and Al head upstairs to Hope's Nursery check on them and what they see is a beautiful sight.
The four watch with smiles as Hillary and finish reading the book. Harper and Kinsley sleeping on the floor while the babies are starting to doze off in their moms' arms.
"Well, this is an adorable sight to see." Bill softly says as he and Damian take pictures.
"Why, thank you. I thought these two energetic girls would never go to sleep. Reminding me of Charlotte when she was their age." Hillary says as she gently rubs Harper's head.
"Tell me something I don't know. They remind me of Aria and Anna. Speaking of which, I gotta make sure I call Karenna. We were so busy this past weekend with Al's speaking engagements that we forgot." Tipper says with wide eyes while gently rubbing her finger on Kinsley's cheek.
"I'm one step ahead of you, Mom. I talked to my sister while you were busy with story time. She said to call her first thing tomorrow." Kristin explains.
"Thanks, Krissi." Tipper says she blows her daughter a kiss, causing Kristin to smile at her mom.
"Wow, to think Wyatt graduated college almost a year ago. Anna will graduate college by the end of the year. And Oscar will graduate from high school next year. Kids really don't stay little forever." Al says as he uses his free hand to look at a picture from Christmas of his three oldest grandkids and Jack on his iPhone.
"You're definitely right about that. You think her and Andrew might give their marriage another chance? They've been getting a bit closer these past couple years." Bill asks curiously.
"We'll have to wait and see. If Tipper and I could work it out, damn straight they can too. But it's up to them." Al says with confidence as he kisses his wife on the cheek.
"We'll put these girls to bed and then we'll meet you downstairs." Damian says as he and Kristin each pick a girl up.
Harper wakes up slightly and realizes that her mom is carrying her. Her sister is still sleep in their Dad's arms
"Mommy?" Harper asks sleepily.
"Hi, sleepy girl. You finally ready for bed?" Kristin asks as she kisses her on the forehead.
Harper nods her head yes in reply and goes on to tell everyone goodnight.
"Night night." Harper says as she yawns
"Goodnight, sweet girl. Nana and I will see you in the morning." Al says softly as he kisses his granddaughters foreheads and their parents carry them out of the room and to bed.
"Al, can you and Bill put the babies in Hope's crib then help us get up?" Tipper asks her husband.
"You got it." Al says calmly as he and Bill pick Jack and Hope up, setting them down in the crib and putting them in their sleep sacks before helping their wives up off the floor
The four walk over to the crib and see Hope and Jack holding hands.
"Isn't that cute? They're best friends just like Henry and Sienna were when they were little." Hillary says softly as she takes a picture of the two with his iPhone.
Both babies then begin to yawn.
"Are you two sleepy? This was a long and fun day, huh?" Hillary asks them and the babies coo softly. But then, Jack starts to get fussy.
"Come here, buddy. You're okay." Al says softly as he puts the pacifier in Jack's mouth and picks him up, gently rocking him in his arms to calm him down
"Hopey? Say goodnight, Jack Jack. I'll see you in the morning." Bill says softly as she rubs her belly.
Hope and Jack babble softly at each other before both of them finally fall asleep.
"They're finally out for the count. Once we get Jack in his crib, we'll meet you downstairs. Goodnight, sweet girl." Tipper says calmly as she rubs Hope's head and she, Jack, and Al leave her nursery.
"This little princess is three months old and I still can't believe she's ours." Hillary says while looking at their sleeping daughter.
"Believe it. Let's get out of here before she wakes up. Mommy and Daddy love you, Hope. Goodnight." Bill says calmly as he and Hillary walk out, turning off the light and gently closing the door.
Bill, Hillary, Al, Tipper, Kirstin and Damian all hung out downstairs for another two hours, enjoying popcorn before they all head to bed for the night!
