a little surprise in the family (pt 2)
*Part two of Hope's homecoming! Thank you to ReneeThornton8 for helping me write this! Enjoy! Love • Bree ❤️
These past few hours at Bill and Hillary's home in Chappaqua, NY have been amazing so far. Al and Tipper made the trip from to New York to meet baby Hope after traveling from California. Not only did their son Albert and his wife Brittany have their twin boys (Albert Arnold Gore IV and John Kenneth Gore) the weekend before Hope was born, but they were there to also celebrate Albert's 40th birthday!
Pretty soon, Huma, Jordan, Chelsea, Marc, Charlotte, Aidan, Jasper, Henry, Mia, Maria, and Mariah would all be coming over. In the meantime, The four friends have just been talking about old times while caring for and cuddling the newest Clinton princess.
Al is currently feeding Hope her bottle while Tipper proudly takes pictures.
"Look at that, you know what to do!" Hillary jokes playfully.
"Brittany and Al gave us lots of practice with Albie and Johnny this past week." Al says as he smiles at Hope.
"You have to burp her mid feeding. Just like Johnny." Tipper says to Al and Al carefully begins to burp Hope.
"Johnny gets an upset tummy too?" Hillary asks Tipper.
"Oh boy he does. The doctors thought he had reflux but luckily they found the right formula and you have to burp him midway a feeding just like Hope." Tipper says to Hillary and Bill.
"And luckily Albie doesn't mind the formula Johnny needs so Al and Brittany can just buy the same kind." Tipper says and Al nods.
"Formula is so expensive! And there's still a shortage in some areas. Luckily, we haven't had trouble finding Hope's formula." Bill says.
"Al and I brought a case of formula with us so Brittany and Little Al can stock up. You know it won't go bad with two hungry babies." Tipper says with a grin.
Just then the door bell rings, causing Maisie and Tally to bark.
"Shhh!" Bill says to Maisie and Tally as he walks over for he door.
"Bill, Hope didn't even flinch. She's busy eating!" Hillary says as she and Tipper chuckle.
"I wonder who this could be?" Bill asks himself as he heads to the door.
Sure enough, it's Huma and her son Jordan. But the latter doesn't have the usual smile on his face.
"Hi, Bill! A little birdie told me that a sweet baby girl just arrived home and we want to meet her." Huma says with a smile as she hugs Bill and he closes the front door behind them when they come inside.
"She did. How are you, Jordan?" Bill asks the ten year old
"Not great." Jordan says with a huff.
"Let's me guess, you just picked him up from his dad's house?" Bill asks Huma.
"That's exactly what happened. And he isn't in a good mood so I figured him coming over here to see you all and meet Hope would cheer him up." Huma says with a smile on her face.
The three walk to the living room and Jordan goes to give Hillary a big hug.
"Grandma Hillary!" Jordan says with a big smile!
"Hi, Jordan! I overheard that your mom picked you up from your Dad's place today?" Hillary asks the ten year old.
"Yeah, I was there for the weekend." Jordan says softly.
"I see. Look who else is here?" Hillary says as she points at Al, Tipper, and baby Hope.
"Tipper!" Jordan says as he gives the former Second Lady a hug.
"Hey, Jordan! I missed you!" Tipper says happily as she hugs Jordan back.
"I missed you too." Jordan says as he lays his head on her belly.
"Hey, Jack. Your friend Jordan is here!" Tipper says as she rubs her belly and Jack kicks where his mom's hand is.
"Wow! He's really active. When will he be here? I'm tired of waiting!" Jordan says in amazement and annoyance.
"Either the end of December or beginning of January. Can you wait that long?" Tipper asks the ten year old as she rubs his head.
"I guess I can." Jordan says with a smile.
"What did Anthony do now?" Hillary asks Huma softly.
"He didn't do anything he promised Jordan they would do this weekend. I'm getting really tired of picking up an upset child." Huma says with a loud sigh.
"That's what happens. You two have been divorced for how long and he is still acting immature. Well, he'll have a good day with us. Chelsea and Marc, their kids, Henry, Mia, Mia's mom and sister are all coming over so Jordan will have fun. You just need to rest, you have been so busy lately." Hillary says to Huma as Huma sits down next to her.
"I'm having a great time working with Morning Joe. Mika wants to do an interview with you by the way. She told me to ask you. She wants you to be featured in mom over 50 segment for her Know Your Value project. Vice President Kamala Harris and First Lady Jill Biden are going to be featured as well." Huma says as she smiles at Bill, Jordan and Al interacting, happy that Jordan has some great male role models in his life.
"Oh, I'd love to! Will it be in person or Skype?" Hillary asks Huma as she pets Maisie.
"Maybe in person! Mika wants to try and do it before she and Joe fly back to Florida in November after the election." Huma says to Hillary.
"Oh my Lord, Mika is going to end up having the baby on the plane at this rate!" Hillary says Huma chuckles.
"That's what Joe said! Willie and I told him to watch birth videos and get ready because he'll probably deliver baby Madi at this rate!" Huma says with a chuckle again.
"Mom! I'm going to hold baby Hope after Uncle Al finishes feeding her." Jordan says with excitement.
"Aw, that's nice! Make sure you wash your hands, okay? We don't want Hope getting sick." Huma says as Jordan happily walks over to the kitchen to wash his hands.
"You are raising a wonderful son, Huma. So polite and gentle." Tipper says, rubbing her baby bump.
"Well, I did have help from the four of you. Especially since Anthony has been failing the good dad test lately." Huma says while being annoyed.
"That's what family is for. We step up when others will not. Right, Hope?" Al asks his niece and Hope opens her eyes in response. Looking directly at Huma while she's still drinking her bottle.
"I just fell in love! So freaking cute!" Huma says as she smiles at Hope.
"How do you think we felt when she was born? And I'll admit, Bill and I did not see her coming." Hillary says with wide eyes.
Jordan walks back into the living room after washing his hands and sits on the sectioned couch.
"Go ahead and sit down, Jordan. You wanna hold her?" Al asks the ten year old.
"Yes." Jordan says with a smile.
"What's the magic word?" Huma asks him.
"Please?" Jordan asks with big eyes.
"Sure you can, bud." Al answers in response as he takes the bottle out of Hope's mouth and burps her once again.
Al goes on to pass Hope to his wife who in turn gives her to Jordan to hold.
Jordan smiles ear to ear as Hope wiggles in his arms.
"Hold her head. There you go." Huma says as she takes a few pictures of Jordan and Hope.
"She was in your tummy, Grandma? How did she even fit?" Jordan asks Hillary, causing everyone to laugh.
"I don't know, but she did!" Hillary says with a cheeky grin.
"You didn't feel her like I feel Jack moving in Auntie Tipper?" Jordan asks Hillary again.
"I didn't! I'm sure she moved around and I just didn't feel it." Hillary says to Jordan happily.
"That's weird. Didn't the same thing happen to First Lady Jill Biden?" Jordan asks curiously.
"Yes. Except she didn't know until the day of and almost lost her life." Bill says while thinking about that memory.
Jordan motions to Hillary to come sit next to him. She does and he gives her a hug. Relieved that what happened to Jill didn't happen to her.
"Grandma? I'm just thankful that you and Hope are okay. But I was still scared for you." Jordan says with a frown.
"I'm thankful too. Hope is a miracle baby just like Jacob is to the First Lady and President Biden. But don't worry, I'm fine and so is Hope. I just have a sore stomach from where Hope came out." Hillary explains to Jordan.
"Babies come out that way?" Jordan asks in confusion.
"Remember I told you the other way. But yes, babies come out that way too." Huma says, causing everyone to chuckle.
"Jordan, are you going to help me, Marc and Henry with baby Hope's nursery?" Bill asks Jordan.
"I'll help paint! I love painting!" Jordan says to Bill with a cheeky grin.
"You can help with that! Grandma has to pick a color though." Bill says causing Hillary to roll her eyes.
"Tipper couldn't pick a color either! Finally settled with a blue gray." Al says as Tipper playfully hits his knee.
"It was a hard decision! I wanted it to be perfect." Tipper says to everyone.
"I've been busy trying to get her clothes and diapers and other supplies. Her crib should be coming soon." Hillary says as she fixes Hope's onesie.
"Well, you have a lot now! People across the country have been sending you two and Baby Hope gifts since her since her surprise arrival!" Huma says happily.
"You aren't kidding. Are you loved, Hope? Are you a loved, baby girl?" Hillary asks as she straightens out her bow.
Hope coos in response and wiggles around in Jordan's arms.
"Yup, She knows! Little Princess." Bill says with a big smile
"I'm gonna go wash my hands since I want a turn holding her next. I'll be right back." Huma says as she kisses Jordan on the cheek and heads to the kitchen to wash her hands.
"Mom! Again?" Jordan says in annoyance.
"Get used to it, Jordan. She's gonna do that to you for the rest of your life. I told Little Al the same thing when he was a teenager. Boys love their moms even though they don't admit it sometimes, and he definitely loves his." Al says as he gives his wife a kiss on the lips.
"Get a room!" Hillary says playfully and chuckles loudly.
"We all do, having babies at our ages!" Tipper says as she, Al, Bill and Hillary all laugh.
Jordan gives Hope a kiss and smiles at her.
"I know you two were talking about where you all will be living once Jack arrives. So you guys finally decided?" Bill asks Al and Tipper.
"Yup! Al is making the move from Tennessee to be with me. Leaving the state he's called home for more than seventy years behind. He started the process to make the move once we ended our separation in September. But won't move entirely until after the midterm elections." Tipper says with a smile on her face.
"Something told me that would happen! Especially with all the craziness going on there." Bill says with a sigh.
"Right. With a trigger abortion ban in place after Roe. v Wade was overturned, I'm not taking no chances with my wife or my son's health. I don't want her to become seriously ill or worse because she cannot get the health care she needs. Politicians should NOT have a say in these decisions at all." Al says with a stern tone.
"We second that!" Huma and Hillary say in unison with their hands raised.
"On top of that, hate crimes against people of color and the LGBTQ community have gone up. You know how I am when it comes to Renee's safety since she's a black woman. She's mostly felt safe when she traveled to Tennessee to visit us as she grew up, but hasn't felt like that over the past almost two years." Tipper says with a frown on her face.
"Right. Oh, and I didn't say this, but both U.S. Senators in my state, Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty, have said some pretty insulting things about her and my wife." Al says while balling his right fist.
"What?" Huma says shocked as she walks back into the living room.
"Excuse me?! Renee and Tipper are two of the sweetest souls we've ever met. What did they say?" Hillary asks Al with a mad look on her face.
"They say they are pro life but yet they make comments saying Jack will be born with a disability or talk about our age. It just doesn't add up. These are republicans I remember working with in the 70's, 80's and 90's." Al says as Tipper rubs Al's back, comforting him.
"I thought they were crazy back when we were in office, but they are ten times crazy now." Bill says as he fixes his glasses.
Hope begins to cry and Jordan tries to rock her, unsure on how to calm her down.
"She might want her pacifier. Here you go, Hopey." Hillary says, carefully putting the pacifier in Hope's mouth.
"Chelsea and Henry rarely took pacifiers. Hope instantly took to it." Bill says proudly.
"The pacifier actually helped her learn to suck on a bottle and the sucking skill." Hillary explains to Huma and Tipper.
Bill and Al both laugh at what Hillary just said, thinking immature things.
"Oh stop it, you two! Get your minds out of the gutter." Tipper says as she giggles.
Jordan gives Hope one more kiss before Hillary hands Hope to Huma.
"Chelsea, Marc, Charlotte, Aidan and Jasper are fifteen minutes away!" Bill says checking his phone.
"Looks like Henry, Mia, Mariah and Maria are here, I can see Henry's long hair from here." Hillary says beaming, happy to see her son.
"I can't wait to see my godson. Still can't believe that he's going to be a Dad." Tipper says as she tears up a little, thinking about how his baby and hers are gonna be friends.
"Believe it, honey. Kids don't stay little forever." Al says with a smile on his face
"Didn't you say that Republicans were saying some insulting things about Renee too?" Bill asks
"Yes. Saying that she isn't gonna be anybody, and some other derogatory things that I can't say. Including how she shouldn't be friends with Sienna because they look different. Bottom line: The only thing we cared about from the time she was little is that she's cherished and loved. What I see are two very confident and beautiful young ladies we raised." Tipper says with a smile while looking at a picture of the two girls on her phone at a Michigan Football game.
"I agree. Those two girls have been best friends ever since they met as babies. There's No way they won't let anyone's BS tear them apart. And we along with her parents shut the haters down early." Hillary says confidently.
Bill and Al walk over to the front door and greet Henry, Mia, Maria and Mariah before they all walk into the living room.
"Hey, Ma!" Henry says as he walks over to Hillary and bends down to hug her tight before giving her a kiss.
"Hello!" Maria says with a big smile as she waves at Tipper, Jordan and Hillary before pulling her mask down.
"Oh look, the baby is real!" Mariah says playfully with a big giggle and smile.
"They are already making conspiracy theories, Ma. Saying you and Dad adopted Hope for political gain." Henry says as he laughs.
"Oh that's just bull-" Hillary says stopping herself from cussing in front of Jordan.
"Have Fox News call the doctor who did your mom's c-section. He took pictures and videos with us!" Bill says with a chuckle.
"I just find it really funny how everything is a conspiracy." Mia says as she rubs her small baby bump.
Henry then walks over to hug and kiss Tipper.
"Don't go into labor now, Auntie Tipper." Henry says playfully to Tipper.
"Oh, I won't! Don't worry." Tipper says with a chuckle.
"Jack knows better. But this little guy has been giving me anxiety for little bit." Al says while his eyes go wide.
"How come?" Huna asks him as she rocks Hope in her arms.
"I didn't imagine becoming a Dad again at age seventy four. Usually at this age, people are enjoying their grandkids and great-grandkids. But if there is a silver lining, I'm getting a second chance with the love of my life." Al says as Tipper kisses him on the cheek.
"And it did take Bill and I talking some sense into you two to make it happen." Hillary says, causing everyone to laugh.
"Well, we were acting hardheaded. So I guess it was necessary." Tipper says as she starts to blush.
"Can I feel, Mrs. Gore?" Mariah asks.
"Sure you can. Come sit next to me, sweetheart." Tipper says as she motions her to sit between her and Al.
She takes Mariah's hand and puts it on her belly and Jack decides to kick again.
"Wow. I'm already excited for my sisters' baby. But I get love on this little guy until then." Mariah says as she starts to tear up.
"What's wrong, baby?" Maria asks her youngest daughter.
"What's up, little sis?" Mia asks her sister, looking concerned.
"I miss my Daddy." Mariah says as she tries to hold her tears back but fails and Al hugs her as she finally cries on his shoulder.
"Oh, Mariah. I know you miss him. I miss my sister too. Shhhhh..." Al says softly as he rubs the sixteen year old's back. Thinking about the cancer battle his sister lost.
They just stay that way for the next couple minutes while everyone watches.
Ten minutes later
"Uncle Al? I needed that, thank you." Mariah says softly.
"You're welcome. I saw that look on your face and knew what you needed: A Father's love." Al says as he uses his thumbs to wipe the last of her tears.
"You wanna hold her next?" Huma asks Mariah and Mariah happily nods.
"Yes, I'd love to! I'm gonna go to one of the bathrooms around the corner to wash my hands. Mimi, will you come with me?" Mariah asks her big sister.
"Sure!" Mia says as she gets up off the sofa.
"There's some wash cloths in there if you need to wash your face too." Hillary says to Mariah.
"Okay, thank you Mrs. Hillary." Mariah says as she and Mia hold hands and leave the room.
"Gosh. Those to love each other so much." Maria says calmly.
"Their bond reminds me of Henry and Chelsea. Even to this day they are very close." Hillary says with a big smile.
"How's Mia been doing, son?" Bill asks, protective of his daughter-in-law.
"Pregnancy wise, great. Her morning sickness is just about gone and she is so excited. She's already planning nurseries. However, she's really grieving her dad. Mister Miguel loved the holidays and I know us having a baby will make her miss him even more." Henry says as he pets the dogs.
"Oh, I miss him so much. I know he didn't want to die but I know he was suffering. He fought so hard. I'm so glad he had the choice to end it all before it got even worse." Maria says tearing up, thinking about her college sweetheart who she been with since she was eighteen.
Hope coos, changing the mood to the room instantly.
"Hi, princess. Are you a happy girl?" Maria asks Hope as she hold her finger out for her to grab.
Hope then opens her eyes and looks around before looking directly at Maria when she grabs her finger.
"Oh, she's so cute!" My husband would've loved this baby girl so much. He was a full blown baby lover. I think he handpicked his grandbaby in heaven and had a hand in helping your moms bring baby Hope to you." Maria says as she looks at Hillary and Henry.
"I know." Hillary says back as the two ladies hug.
Pretty soon, the Lopez sisters come back and sit on the couch. Huma passes baby Hope to Mariah.
Mariah smiles and carefully places a kiss on Hope's forehead.
"Get ready to be an aunt now." Henry says playfully.
"I know how to hold and feed babies! I helped with Charlotte, Aidan and Jasper!" Mariah says playfully back to Henry, causing everyone to chuckle.
"Oh, Mister Bill, there's a big box outside! I think it's the crib!" Mia says to Bill.
"Yay! It came!" Hillary cheers in excitement.
"Thank you! I didn't even hear the doorbell ring!" Bill says happily.
"They usually don't ring the door bell, I'm sure being on our property freaks them out with Secret Sservice watching their every move." Hillary says with a chuckle.
"Henry, can you help me bring this in?" Bill asks his son.
"Sure!" Henry says as he kisses Mia before walking over to Bill.
"I wanna help too!" Jordan says, eager to help.
"You can! Maybe Henry and I can look at it and see if we can get it built." Bill says, causing Jordan to cheer.
"Yay!" Jordan says happily.
"I wonder how many men it will take to build it?" Mia asks playfully.
"Too many for us to count. Especially when Marc gets here." Hillary playfully answers back, causing the ladies to laugh.
"Hey!" All the men and Jordan say in unison.
"Oh, boy. You guys need any help with painting the nursery?" Tipper asks curiously.
"We do. In fact, we're getting two extra sets of hands to help us later this week!" Bill says with a grin.
"Who?" Henry asks his mom curiously
"Turns out, George and Laura are flying in from Texas to see their daughters and grandkids! They'll also come over here to meet Hope!" Hillary says happily with a big smile on her face.
"Alright! I know Uncle George is an artist so I know he's gonna paint some kind of mural in Hope's room." Henry says with a grin.
"Aren't they having a baby girl too?" Mia asks.
"Yup! Daughter number three! They did a gender reveal on TODAY with Hoda and Jenna earlier this month. They planned on doing it in September, but then Queen Elizabeth's passing happened and that likely would've overshadowed that." Hillary explains.
"She's going to have the best protector in the world other than her Dad. Her big brother, and our second godson, George Jr. Aka, Geo." Al says while smiling at his wife.
"Between himself, Barbara, and Jenna, she'll be very well protected and loved." Bill says proudly
"All these little ones! My goodness!" Maria says while rubbing her hands together.
"Everybody wondering what the heck is in the political water?!" Al says from across the room.
"Uncle Al, you might need to help us build this crib, you know Dad and I can get frustrated quick." Henry says as he giggles.
"I might have to be the referee!" Al says playfully.
"Can I help paint the nursery too?" Jordan asks Bill.
"Of course! You can help paint the other three walls while Mister George paints the mural." Bill says as he kisses Jordan's head.
"Please be careful carrying that! Why don't you guys wait for Marc to arrive." Hillary says to her stubborn husband.
"I got it, Hill. I'm still strong you know." Bill says with a wink.
"Yeah, and I'm holding most of it." Henry says as Jordan tries to help too.
Mia, Maria, Tipper and Hillary all chuckle as Henry, Bill, Jordan and Al all walk the crib upstairs.
"Who wants to bet that won't be build today." Mariah says as she laughs.
"They'll get it done after a few arguments. Henry and Bill are the same that way, they want everything perfect." Hillary says with a smile.
"He's gotten a lot better with that but when it comes to surprises me and dates he still likes to be like that." Mia says with a grin.
-
"Al, translate this! There's no English on here!" Bill says, handing the instructions to Al.
"It's right there!" Henry says, pointing to the pictures.
"Yeah, a picture! A picture isn't helpful, son. I'm old school." Bill says to Henry.
"Oh lord, they are already struggling!" Tipper says as she laughs.
Hillary gets a text message from Chelsea, letting her know that they're pulling up to the gate.
"Chelsea, Marc, and the kids are here!" Hillary says excitingly!
"Can't wait to see them. I love those three angels so much!" Maria says with a smile.
"And they love you back." Hillary says.
Mia gets up from the couch to answer the door and gets jumped hugged by three kids.
"Hi, Auntie Mimi!" Charlotte, Aidan, and Jasper all says in unison.
"Hi, kiddos! Have you been good for mom and Dad?" Mia asks them.
"Yeah!" Charlotte, Aidan, and Jasper say in unison.
"Okay, kiddos. Go wash your hands. We'll be right behind you." Chelsea says as the kids go to the sink to wash their hands.
"Hi, Mom." Chelsea says as she goes over to kiss her mom.
"Hi, Chelsea. Hi, Marc!" Hillary says as she gets up to hug her daughter and son-in-law.
That's when they suddenly hear some arguing from upstairs.
"What's going on up there?" Marc asks.
"They're trying to put Hope's crib together. Can you please go help them? I'm tired of the arguing." Tipper asks him while looking concerned and rolling her eyes.
"Sure. I'll head up there now." Marc says as he runs upstairs to help the men.
"This picture makes no damn sense!" Bill yells on frustration.
"Bill! Language! Children are here!" Hillary yells up the steps.
"Where's Uncle Henny?" Charlotte says as she dries her hands off with a paper towel.
"He's upstairs with Pop Pop, Jordan and Uncle Al!" Hillary says with a grin.
Aidan and Jasper happily run into the living room with Chelsea close behind.
"Go give Miss Maria a big hug." Chelsea says as the kids huge Maria tightly.
"You guys have gotten bigger since I saw you three last month!" Maria says with a smile.
"Growth spurts have hit our house hardcore! Food is always gone." Chelsea says with a chuckle.
"Wait until they are teenagers. They'll eat so much!" Tipper says with a chuckle.
"Birdie!" Jasper says with excitement.
"Hi, Jasper!" Huma says with a big grin.
"Aww, he's calling you Birdie like Henry does." Hillary says with a smile.
"I think that's where they got it from! They know your name!" Chelsea says playfully.
"Well, that is what my name means in Arabic. A bird who brings joy!" Huma playfully says back.
"Hi, Jack." Charlotte, Aidan, and Jasper say as the three kids use their hands to touch Tipper's belly
"Do you three love him?" Tipper asks them as she feels her son kick again.
"Very much! Will he be here soon?" Charlotte asks curiously.
"In about ten weeks. Can you wait that long, Charlotte?" Tipper asks the eight year old.
"I guess I can." Charlotte says while shrugging her shoulders.
"Great! We're still learning patience!" Chelsea says as she puts her hands together while looking at her children.
-
About 45 minutes later, the men are finally coming downstairs after putting the crib together.
"It's backwards!" Henry says to Bill.
"No it's not!" Bill says in an annoyed tone.
"Then why is it leaning? A crib shouldn't be leaning." Henry says to Bill, annoyed that Bill isn't listening.
"That's what the instructions said!" Al says, trying to back Bill up.
"Thank you!" Bill says as Henry rolls his eyes.
"Either you and Mister Bill got a defective crib or we are all dumb and can't figure it out. It's leaning." Marc says showing Hillary the picture on his phone.
"Oh my Lord! That's the crib? That's not what the picture looked like!" Hillary says, handing Marc his phone.
"Let me see!" Tipper says as Marc shows her the picture.
"That's a crib? What the hell did you guys order? Did you order this at 4am, Hill?" Tipper asks Hillary playfully.
"It said it was a small compact crib! Bill wanted that one because he wanted a big rocking chair in there. I wanted the one that turns into a toddler and queen bed. But noooo." Hillary says causing Tipper to laugh.
"Men." The three Lopez women all say in unison while rolling her eyes. Hope is being oblivious to all the "chaos" and just yawns in Mia's arms.
"Hill? You got your laptop?" Maria asks Hillary.
"I do! I'll be right back." Hillary says as she goes to get it.
Not long after, she comes back with it and they go online to look at cribs. It's kinda turns into a debate between all the adults, but the one Bill and Hillary like is finally bought!
"Glad that's over. You men are terrible when it comes to following instructions." Tipper says playfully while looking at her husband.
"Gee! Way to rub it in." Al says under his breath. Just then, he feels someone pull his ear, sitting him back down on the couch.
"What was that, Al?!" Tipper says in a stern but playful tone of voice.
"Nothing." Al says while wincing in pain.
"Sorry, Al. But she's still Queen of the Gore family. And you should know better. Especially since she's pregnant." Hillary says with a smile.
"Uncle Al is in trouble! Uncle Al is in trouble!" All of the kids say in singsong voices.
"So what are y'all gonna do with the crib upstairs?" Henry asks as he sits down next to Mia.
"We can see if we can salvage it or fix it and maybe we can leave it downstairs so mom and I don't have to take her upstairs to nap all of the time." Bill says to Henry.
"That's sounds like a good idea." Henry says, agreeing with his dad.
"Honey, can you please let my ear go?" Al asks his wife while trying to move her hand
"Yes. On two conditions. You apologize to me and give me a big kiss!" Tipper says with a big smile on her face.
"Okay. I apologize." Al finally says as she lets him go and the two kiss each other on the lips.
"Ooooooo!" Charlotte, Aidan, and Jasper playfully say in unison.
"I think I bored Hope to sleep." Mariah says as she carefully hands Hope to Mia since Mia wanted a turn.
"I think her hair is going to turn red." Henry says as he rubs his sister's head.
"Dad never had red hair!" Chelsea says to Henry with a confused look.
"His beard was when I met him. You never know, Hope could have red hair. But I think it's going to stay blonde." Hillary says as Bill walks over and kisses her head before heading to the bathroom.
"Jor! Let's play!" Aidan says happily to Jordan and Jordan smiles.
"Okay!" Jordan says as he follows Aidan to the toy box.
"Grandma! Was Hope in your tummy?" Charlotte asks Hillary, kinda confused about Hope's arrival.
"She was! You couldn't tell though! She was hiding." Hillary says to Charlotte with a grin.
"Then she said surprise!" Charlotte says with her arms in the air, causing everyone to chuckle.
"She did, huh?" Hillary says as Charlotte walks over to Hillary and sits close to her.
"She's so little! Will she be able to play princess soon?" Charlotte asks, hoping to have a playmate soon.
"Not yet! But she will! But for now, I'll play princess with you." Hillary says, softly kissing Charlotte's head.
Jasper walks over and pats Hope's head but a tad too hard, since he is only three.
"Gentle, gentle. Good boy. Be nice and soft with baby Hope." Chelsea says to Jasper.
Jasper does exactly that and also gives baby Hope a kiss, causing all the adults and Mariah to awe in response. They reward Jasper by letting him hold the baby.
Hillary can't help but take pictures of this encounter with her baby daughter and grandson.
"She loves you!" Hillary says happily
"And I love her. She's wittle, Daddy." Jasper says as he holds Hope with Mia's help while sitting in her lap.
"She really is. Smaller than you and your siblings." Marc says as her rubs his son's head.
20 minutes later
"Charlotte! Aidan! You two wanna hold the baby?" Mia asks the two oldest Clinton grandkids.
"Yes, Auntie Mimi!" Charlotte says excitingly.
"What's the magic word?" Mia asks them.
"Please?" Charlotte and Aidan both say with big eyes.
"Charlotte, you get a turn first and I need you to sit on the couch. Can I have her Jasper?" Chelsea asks her three year old."
"Okay, Mommy." Jasper says as he and Mia pass her off to Chelsea.
"Thank you, baby." She says as she hands baby Hope to Charlotte.
Charlotte happily holds Hope and smiles at her. Charlotte isn't the only girl in the family anymore and this fact kinda makes her sad because she loved the special attention.
"She's so pretty and cute!" Charlotte says happily.
"She is, just like you!" Bill says to her granddaughter.
After a good fifteen minutes, it's Aidan's turn. But then, Hope starts to suck on her fingers.
"I think someone's hungry. I'll go make her a bottle." Bill says as he kisses Hillary and heads to the kitchen to make Hope a bottle.
Chelsea tries to take Hope from Charlotte, but she doesn't want to let her go.
"Hope has to to be fed, sweetie. She's hungry." Chelsea says to her daughter.
"I'll feed her!" Charlotte says with an attitude.
"She has to be fed a certain way. Her tummy is sensitive." Chelsea says, trying to explain.
"But Mom....." Charlotte complains.
"Charlotte?!" Henry says in a stern tone of voice while giving her the look.
"Okay, Uncle Henny. Here, Mommy." Charlotte says with a frown on her face as she hands baby Hope over to her mom.
"Thank you, Charlotte. You'll get another turn holding her later, okay?" Chelsea says while rubbing Charlotte's cheek.
Charlotte nods her head. But tears start to well up in her eyes and she runs upstairs to her room.
"Charlotte, wait!" Chelsea says trying to stop her but fails terribly.
"I don't get it. Charlotte was so happy when Hope arrived and now she's acting like this. She's a great kid." Marc says while putting his face in his hands.
"Marc. She's probably going through something emotionally, but doesn't know how to express it. I'll go talk to her. You all stay down here." Tipper explains as she gets up off the couch.
"Be careful going up the stairs. If you need anything, we'll come up." Al tells his wife before kissing her.
"I will." Tipper says as she kisses her husband back before walking towards the stairs that lead to the second floor of the house.
"I'm coming with you." Hillary says as she rubs Hope's head before getting up off the couch and going upstairs too.
Charlotte walks into the bedroom she and her brothers share when they visit Grandma and Pop Pop and Charlotte lays on her bed, curled up in a ball.
"Charlotte? Charlotte? Where are you, sweety?" Hillary says as Tipper opens the bedroom door slowly.
"Hill, she's in here." Tipper says as she and Hillary walk over to Charlotte carefully.
Hillary manages to lay on the bed with Charlotte while Tipper sits on the edge of the bed.
"Hi, sweetheart. It's okay. Grandma and Auntie Tipper are here." Hillary says, wrapping her arms around Charlotte and kissing her forehead.
"Hi, Grandma. Hi, Auntie." Charlotte says with a frown as she reaches her arms out to Hillary for a hug.
"Come here, baby." Hillary says as she picks up her granddaughter and sits her on her lap.
Once Charlotte is held by her grandma, that's when she really starts to cry right on her Grandma's shoulder.
"Whats wrong, sweety? You can tell us anything." Tipper says softly to Charlotte.
"Pop Pop and I love you no matter what. Having Hope doesn't change that." Hillary says to Charlotte.
"Wait a minute. Charlotte, are you jealous of Hope and all the attention she's getting?" Tipper asks the eight year old while looking concerned.
Charlotte nods her head yes in response.
"Oh my God. I knew it." Tipper says with a sigh.
"How?" Hillary asks her friend as she continues to rock Charlotte and rub her back, trying to calm her down.
"Because this was the same way Aria was acting. After Albert and John were born, she was super excited. But became a little jealous since this meant her and Little Al wouldn't be spending as much time together as they used to. She was afraid that her Uncle, Aunt, parents, and us wouldn't love her that much anymore now that the babies were here. It broke our hearts hearts so bad." Tipper explains while thinking about her own 8 year old granddaughter.
"Aria?" Charlotte asks about her friend while sniffing.
"Mhm! She and Al are very close because she, her mom and dad live close to Al and Brittany. She loves baby Albie and Johnny but for sad thinking Al wouldn't be visiting a lot." Tipper says to Charlotte.
"You will always be very special to Pop Pop and I. So will Aidan, Jasper and Jordan." Hillary says to Charlotte.
"Hope loves you, sweety. Once she gets bigger she'll look up to you for things." Tipper explains to Charlotte.
"Your new baby brother or sister and baby cousin will too." Hillary says as she plays with Charlotte's hair.
"You remind me of Albert when he acted out in this same situation. He too was scared that Al and I wouldn't love him anymore once his little sister arrived. Turns out, he was being teased at school by other boys in his class. Saying that he'll be forgotten by us once his sister is born. Your Mommy wasn't happy when she heard that and came to his defense like a big sister would. Warning them to leave him alone. Needless to say, they did that. You don't want to make the President's daughter mad." Tipper says while her and Hillary both giggle at the memory. The former rubbing her blonde head of hair.
"Albert literally cried tears of joy. Not only did he get to witness his sister's birth, but also he held Sienna for the first time. I'm not sure if you remember Charlotte, but he was hit by a car at age six and almost didn't survive." Hillary explains to Charlotte.
"Little Al acted like I did?" Charlotte asks the two women.
"Yes. Except he was older than you and your brothers. Eleven, going on twelve, years old." Tipper answers in response to Charlotte's question.
"Your Mommy was a little jealous when Uncle Henny was born. She was thirteen when Henny was born. But now look, your mommy and Henny are very close just like you, Aidan and Jasper are and will be with Hope, Jack, your new baby brother or sister and baby cousin!" Hillary says as she kisses Charlotte.
"Mommy and Henry can't believe they are a big sister again and finally a big brother! Hope has been such a surprise so it's going to take a while for everyone to adjust. However we all love you so much." Tipper says to Charlotte.
"I love you too, Auntie." Charlotte says as she's goes over to sit on Tipper's lap and give her a hug.
"That's my girl. I love you. You okay, now?" Tipper asks her as she gives Charlotte a kiss on the cheek.
"Yes. Grandma? Auntie? I'm sorry for the way I acted." Charlotte says while holding her head down in shame.
"Apology accepted, sweetie. But you know who else you need to apologize to, right?" Hillary asks while holding Charlotte's chin up.
"Yes. Mommy, Daddy, and Uncle Henny." Charlotte answers in response.
Maisie and Tally happily walk in the room and bark.
"Hi, Maisie and Tally!" Charlotte says happily.
"What are you two doing? Were you looking for me or Aunt Tipper?" Hillary asks the dogs.
"I hope they don't sense labor or something!" Tipper says rubbing her baby bump.
"I think they sense you're pregnant. It makes sense why they followed me like crazy lately! They knew I was pregnant before I did." Hillary says with a giggle.
"Oh, great." Tipper says while rolling her eyes.
"Jack Jack. You stay put!" Charlotte says as she lays her head on Tipper's belly.
"Jack Jack? Isn't that the name of that baby's from The Incredibles?" Hillary asks curiously.
"It is, Grandma! I think it's a cute nickname for him!" Charlotte says happily.
Right on cue, Jack kicks his Mama and Charlotte feels it.
"I think he likes his nickname. And he loves you, Charlotte." Tipper says to the eight year old with a smile
"And I love him too. I'm ready to go back downstairs now." Charlotte says proudly.
"That's my girl." Hillary says as she kisses Charlotte on the forehead.
After taking Charlotte to the restroom to wash her face, the three start to head back downstairs.
Meanwhile, all the adults and Mariah are talking with each other while the boys are playing with some toys.
"I really hope Charlotte's okay, Marc. I'm worried." Chelsea says to her her husband with a worried look on her face.
"I know. But your mom and Auntie Tip know how to get through to her." Marc says as Hope sleeps in his arms.
"Well, they are the peacemakers of our big family." Maria says playfully while winking at Bill
"Hey! I thought that was my job!" Bill says, while being playfully offended.
"It is. But us ladies have our ways of keeping the peace that are different from men." Maria says with pride as she looks at her two daughters.
"I guess you're right." Bill says in response.
"Where are our girls?" Al asks as he walks back into the living room after washing his hands again.
"I think I see them coming down now." Mia says as she points to the steps.
"Hi, Mommy." Charlotte says as she walks over to her mom, sitting in her lap and laying her head on Chelsea's chest.
"Hi, sweety." Chelsea says as she kisses Charlotte's forehead.
"I'm sorry." Charlotte says softly to Chelsea.
"It's okay, sweety. We just have to use our words when something is bothering us, okay?" Chelsea says as Charlotte nods.
"I'm sorry, Daddy. I'm sorry Uncle Henny." Charlotte says softly to Marc and Henry.
"It's okay, baby girl." Marc says, kissing Charlotte.
"It's okay. You know you will be special to me, Charlotte. Always." Henry says with a grin.
"Grandma wants to go shopping for the babies!" Charlotte says with excitement.
"We do need to go shopping! Once we find out what we are having, me, you, Mariah, my mom, Huma, grandma and your mom can come!" Mia says to her niece with a cheeky grin.
Hillary walks over to Bill and sits next to him, grunting from the pain.
"You need to stop doing to steps so much, Hill. I don't want you to do too much." Bill says to Hillary sternly.
"I know, but I have to go up the steps. I'm not going to be being trapped downstairs." Hillary says to Bill.
"She's got a point, Bill. Did you two figure out what was happening with Charlotte?" Marc asks
"Yup! Turns out she was jealous of Hope and the attention she was getting after being the youngest Clinton girl for years. Thinking that nobody would love or pay attention to her anymore with a new baby in the mix. Especially her grandparents." Tipper explains with a sad look on her face
"What? Aw, Charlotte! Why didn't you say anything, baby?" Chelsea asks as she rubs the top of her head.
Charlotte shrugs her shoulders, not wanting to talk about it right this moment.
"It's okay, we can talk about it when we get home." Marc says and Chelsea nods in agreement.
"What's that smell?" Bill asks out loud.
"Are you freaking kidding me?" Marc asks with a pained look on his face while looking down at Hope.
"Unfortunately babe, we're not kidding. And guess who is going to have the honor of changing her?" Chelsea says playfully while pointing at her husband.
"Oh, great." Marc says in response, knowing the answer
"Daddy, can I help?" Charlotte asks her dad.
"Sure you can. Let's go over this way." Marc says as he walks over to the changing table just on the other side of the living room with Hope in his arms. Charlotte walking right behind him.
"Al, I noticed your hands are super dry. You must've washed your hands again. What happened?" Tipper asks her husband curiously while giving him some hand cream for his hands.
"Our niece peed on me while you and Hillary were upstairs with Charlotte earlier. That's what happened. Right on my hands too!" Al answers back with an annoyed look on his face.
"Bill and Al got into a little debate over who was gonna change Hope. So I forced them to play rock, paper, scissors, and Al lost!" Maria says with pride
"Just be glad she didn't spray you in the face like your namesake of a grandson did!" Tipper says before bursting out into laughter and causing everyone else to laugh at him too!
"Mary Elizabeth, that is not funny!" Al says while he blushes and covers his face in embarrassment.
Marc and Charlotte both change Hope's diaper before they walk back over to everyone.
"Chelsea, why did you have to single me out?" Marc asks his wife.
"Well, that's because I can. I'm going to be having baby number four in a few months, so no better time like the present for you to get in your baby practice now." Chelsea answers back with sass.
Everyone chuckles loudly.
"Beep beep!" Jasper says as he pushes his car on the floor.
"Vrooooom!" Aidan says as he smiles.
"I'm so excited to have more babies to hold and spoil!" Huma says, talking about Al and Tipper's baby boy, Chelsea and Marc's fourth baby and Henry and Mia's first baby.
"Believe it, Huma. All these little ones are probably making you miss Jordan's baby days!" Hillary says excitingly.
"Absolutely." Huma says in response.
Al starts to chuckle and Tipper questionably looks at her husband.
"What are you giggling about?" Tipper asks Al curiously.
"Oh, nothing. Just relieved that what happened to Marc just now with Hope didn't happen to me earlier." Al playfully says loudly so Marc could hear him.
"Al, I heard that!" Marc playfully says back.
"Boys, behave! Or no ice cream for both of you tonight." Maria says in a playful but stern tone of voice.
"Sorry." Al and Marc say in unison while hanging their heads in shame
"Wow. You got em' good, mom." Mariah says proudly.
"Well, it kinda is my job to be the peacemaker. Just like my late husband was." Maria says with confidence
"Okau All in favor in having pizza for dinner tonight, say aye!" Bill says to everyone.
"Aye!" Everyone answers while raising their hands.
"Those opposed?" Bill asks, but there's silence
"The ayes have it! Where should we order tonight?" Hillary asks him.
"I know the perfect place: Old Stone Trattoria. They have some of the best pizza and other foods in Chappaqua!" Henry explains.
"Oooo! That's a good option. Dad and I haven't been there in a couple months." Hillary says to her son.
"I'll look on the menu and see what they got. Then, we'll decide." Mia says as she gets her iPad out of her tote bag.
Everyone looks at the menu and they order the food online. While they wait, Jasper, Charlotte, Aidan and Jordan all happily play with the many toys while the adults sit around and talk, while passing Hope around before Bill lays her in her bassinet.
Now the adults are looking at old family pictures seeing who Hope looks like.
"Looking at the baby pictures I think I see Chelsea more in Hope." Maria says with a smile.
"Henry is literally Bill's biological dad, Mister Blythe's twin. You look a lot like him too, Mister Bill." Mariah says as Bill smiles.
"All I see is Dad but I do see myself in this picture." Henry says with a chuckle.
Despite never knowing his biological father, he has many pictures of him and things his mom Virginia told him.
"I've always said that but Mrs Hillary disagrees." Bill says as he smirks at Hillary and Hillary chuckles.
"You are a good mixture of your mom and dad but i just see Virginia a lot more." Hillary says as she smiles back at her husband.
"This picture looks just like Chelsea! This is Miss Virginia?" Maria asks everyone.
"Yup, that's our grandma Ginger! And that's my dad and Uncle Roger. Isn't little Roger cute?" Chelsea says proudly.
"Aww, what a nice picture!" Tipper says with a grin.
"Bill looks the same!" Huma says as she laughs happily.
"My goodness you two are twins! But now I see Hillary mostly." Maria says.
"We all got the Clinton nose." Henry says, causing everyone to laugh.
"I think Hope looks more like a Rodham. This baby picture of Miss Dorothy looks very similar to Hope." Al explains as he holds the picture up.
"Wow, they do look alike! Look at that!" Huma says with a smile.
"She's only two weeks old so babies don't really have looks yet. All we know is she definitely has her Daddy's blue eyes." Hillary says happily.
"Well your eyes are blue too, darling." Bill says as he kisses Hillary's head.
"Well duh! But they are your shade of blue. Chels and Henry have my shade of blue." Hillary explains to Bill.
"Blue is blue to me." Bill says as he laughs.
"Ooooo, you're right!" Hillary says while looking at the picture of her mother.
Charlotte picks up a picture of Virginia and baby Henry and show it to her uncle.
"Uncle Henny? Did you have the chance to know great-grandma Virginia?" Charlotte asks curiously.
"Not like your Mama did. She passed away from breast cancer when I was 5 months old and almost a year into your Pop Pop being President. The pictures, videos, and stories I've been told are the only ways I remember her." Henry says with a frown on his face.
"Aw, That's so sad!" Aidan says in response.
"It really is. Even during her last days, it didn't stop her from traveling to DC for Henry's first Christmas and be with us. This was one of the last photos I took of Henry and my mother." Bill says with a sad smile.
Bill shows the picture of Virginia rocking baby Henry to sleep in the nursery.
"Grandma Dotty!" Jasper says pointing at Dorothy.
"Yup, that's Grandma Dotty! And that's Grandpa Hugh!" Henry says with a grin.
"Henry was so chunky oh my gosh!" Mia says, smiling at the baby pictures of her husband.
"He was huge! Just like Bill was as a baby." Hillary says to Mia.
"Oh shush!" Bill says playfully to Hillary.
"It's true! You were such an adorable chunky baby and Henry was the same way." Hillary says, holding a baby picture of Henry and Bill side by side.
"I hope our baby doesn't come out huge! I was a big baby too! I was almost nine pounds myself." Mia says with a chuckle.
"And you were two weeks early! You got that from your father!" Maria says.
"Henry came three weeks early and almost eight pounds! Ouch!" Hillary says.
"Hope is almost six and a half pounds now! She's getting big fast." Bill says proudly.
"Sweet princess." Maria says softly in Spanish while looking over at Hope sleeping in her bassinet.
"I agree." Mariah says while agreeing with her mom
"Mom! I just got the call. Our order is ready to be picked up!" Henry says happily.
"Nice! You two are gonna go get it, I suppose?" Hillary asks her son and daughter-in-law.
"Yup!" Mia says as Henry gets her tote bag for her.
"And yes, about four Secret Service agents are going to follow us just to be sure we get there and back safely. We'll be back!" Henry says as he grabs Mia's hand and they head out the house and to their car.
"Kids! Let's go get washed up. By the time Auntie Mimi and Uncle Henry get back, it'll be time to eat!" Mariah says with a smile on her face
"Yay!" Jordan, Charlotte, Aidan, and Jasper say in unison as they follow her to one of the bathrooms to wash their hands.
"My little Mariah loves being the leader! Just like her dad was!" Maria says proudly.
"She's been that way since Jordan and Charlotte were little." Hillary says in response as all the adults head to the kitchen to wash their hands too.
-
Pretty soon, Henry and Mia are back. Bringing the pizza and garlic bread into the House, the two head to the sink to wash their hands. Once the kids are back downstairs, Everyone circles around the table.
"Hey, Al? Do you want to say grace tonight?" Bill asks him.
"I think I will." Al says proudly in response.
Everyone holds each others hands and Al begging to say grace.
"Amen." Everyone says in unison as they all sit down and start to eat.
Hope begins to cry in her bassinet, causing everyone to look. Bill begins to get up and Henry stops him.
"I'll get her Dad." Henry says as he walks over to the bassinet and picks up his sister.
"Shh shh, what's wrong? What's wrong? Are you hungry too?" Henry says as he rocks Hope and she calms down:
"I think she just wants to be held. I can hold her!" Tipper says to Henry.
"I got her, Auntie Tip. I need practice on how to eat and hold a baby." Henry says as he sits back down and Hope curls in Henry's arms.
"It's a talent once you learn." Chelsea says with a chuckle.
"Hi, Hopey! Are you awake now? That wasn't a long nap." Mia says as she smiles at her little sister-in-law.
"She does that sometimes. She takes small naps during the day and then right before bed she takes a longer one and kinda messes her sleep schedule. She almost has it." Hillary says with a grin.
"Maybe she's hungwry!" Jasper says with pizza all over his face.
"She can't be, buddy. Hope was just fed a bottle not that long ago." Chelsea says as she wipes Jasper's face with a napkin.
"I believe that she didn't want to feel left out. Sweet girl." Al says with a grin.
"I think you're right. Hope probably didn't sense anyone near her when she woke up." Tipper says in response as she kisses her hubby on the lips.
"Really you two? At the table?" Henry says as he rolls his eyes seeing his godparents get all lovey with each other again.
"Henry William Clinton, did I just see you roll your eyes?" Tipper asks her godson sternly.
"Ummmmmm....yes. I'm sorry." Henry says in response as he starts to blush.
"My poor son being embarrassed by his Aunt once again." Bill says playfully to his son.
"Thanks a lot, Dad." Henry says sarcastically before eating again.
"And look at you being a pro." Chelsea says as she films a video on her iPhone of Henry eating his pizza and holding their sister at the same time.
"Well, this all started with Charlotte as a baby when I was in college. Studying on my laptop while she was trying to type on it. One time, I accidentally sent an email to my professor that didn't make sense. But she understood that I had a baby niece who was very active." Henry says, causing everyone to laugh.
"Love you Uncle Henny!" Charlotte says as she leans up to kiss Henry on the cheek.
"And I love you to the moon and back!" Henry says in response.
As everyone finishes eating, Hope is laying her head over her brother's shoulder and yawns.
"Isn't she sweet?" Mia says lovingly as she rubs baby Hope's head and takes a picture of the two of them.
"She is! She loves her brother very much!" Mariah says proudly.
"Who wants ice cream after this?" Hillary asks happily
"Me!!!!!!" Jordan, Charlotte, Aidan and Jasper all say in unison.
"We got ice cream and plenty of toppings so you can put whatever you want on it!" Bill says as he, Maria, Al, and Marc start to clear the table
Just as Henry is about to help too, Hope spits up on hit shirt, causing everyone to snicker and then laugh at him.
"Oh, no! I knew I forgot something... A burp cloth!" Henry says while he facepalms.
"Now will you let me hold my niece?" Tipper asks him playfully.
"Yes, Auntie. Here you go. I gotta go change my shirt. It's a good thing I keep a few of my clothes here." Henry says as he hands Hope to his godmother and goes upstairs.
"Come here, sweetie." Tipper says softly as Hope curls up the minute she's in her arms.
"Just throw that shirt in the laundry room. We'll wash it later tonight!" Hillary says from downstairs.
"Okay, Ma!" Henry yells from upstairs.
"Hope! You spit up on your brother! How could you? I think you owe him an apology when he comes back." Al says playfully to his baby niece and Hope coos at him in response as she grabs his finger.
Bill, Al and Mariah all help get the ice cream and toppings on the table while everyone sits around the table patiently waiting.
Hope babbles in Tipper's arms causing everyone to smile.
"Are you talking to Auntie Tipper? Yeah!" Hillary says in a babyfied voice.
"How are you feeling, Chels?" Mia asks Chelsea.
"I feel great! Very tired at the end of the days but that's expected at my age and having three little kids. What about you, sis?" Chelsea asks Mia.
"I feel pretty good! My energy is back finally! I still feel a little sick sometimes especially if I eat something spicy." Mia explains to Chelsea.
"I felt more sick with my boys!" Chelsea says to Mia with a smile.
"Henry and I don't have an inkling of what we are having. But my friend knows a psychic and she said it's a boy, so we shall see!" Mia says with a grin.
"I knew Charlotte was a girl from day one! Marc knew Aidan was a boy and we were both wrong with Jasper." Chelsea says with a chuckle.
"Well, what do ya know?" Mia says playfully while shrugging her shoulders.
"Right," Chelsea says in response.
"I'm back!" Henry says as he comes from downstairs and sits at the table again between his wife and Charlotte.
"There you are. Which shirt did you put on?" Mia asks her husband as she kisses him on the cheek.
"Just one of my Star Wars t-shirts with Princess Leia on it. You know how much I loved it, right Dad?" Henry asks Bill.
"Sure do. I also remember how upset you were when Carrie Fisher died." Bill says while thinking about the late actress who portrayed the character.
"I know! All of us were stunned. I took Henry to Disney World a year after her passing when we found out they were doing a tribute. All of us held up our light sabers in honor of the late Princess." Mia says while looking on her phone at the pictures.
"Now we have a new little princess in the mix now, Princess Hope. Don't you have something you wanna say to your brother?" Hillary playfully asks her daughter and decides to coo at her brother.
"You're forgiven, little sis. You're a baby so I can't stay mad at you for that. I love you." Henry says as he blows a kiss at Hope from across the table.
"Hopey needs pretty bows, Mommy like I wear!" Charlotte says as Bill hands her a bowl of ice cream.
"I know, we need to get her some, huh?" Chelsea says to her daughter with a smile.
"Get her the stretchy ones! Those other ones you got caused a mark on her head." Hillary says to Chelsea.
"Hope doesn't have a big Clinton head, huh?" Henry says playfully.
"Not exactly. She's was smaller than both you and your sister were at birth." Bill explains.
"And Henry, you shouldn't be talking about anyone's head. I went through the freaking most to get yours out and your Dad, godparents, sister, and the older four Gore kids still can't get my yells out of their heads from that day." Hillary says as she shakes her head.
"Great. Now I'm nervous about going through this again. Except I'm much older just like Jill and Hill are." Tipper says nervously as she eats her ice cream with strawberry syrup and Oreo pieces. Also having Hope over her left shoulder.
"Honey, you will be fine. Plus I'll be with you. I was there when our five other children were born and I'm not missing this." Al says to his wife as he places a hand on her belly and Jack kicks his mom.
"I think he likes the ice cream. Well, I do too." Tipper says with a smile.
Hope stares at her Auntie Tip's blonde hair and decides to grab some.
"Ow! Hope! You can't grab Auntie's hair like that." Tipper says as she giggles and kisses her head.
"I swear. Babies love to grab and pull hair. I know both of my daughters did." Maria says playfully while winking at Mia and Mariah.
"Hope, no no. You pull my hair too! Yes, yes. And Daddy's chest hair." Hillary says to Hope as she manages to get Hope's fist open and get Tipper's hair away.
"Ma, I hope you and dad aren't having relations." Henry says looking at his mom and dad.
"How do you think Hope happened?" Bill says with a proud smile and Hillary smacks his leg.
"Dad please." Chelsea says, hiding her face, not wanting to picture the sight.
"Thanks a lot. Y'all almost made me choke on my ice cream." Mia says while laughing.
"Kids. Just pretend you didn't hear all that." Marc says playfully to his children.
"Too late, Dad. We heard it all." Aidan says in response while rolling his eyes.
Jasper and Charlotte nod in agreement with their brother.
"Even at almost eleven years old, I know what that means." Jordan says as he covers his ears with his headphones, not wanting to hear anymore
"Kids, what can you do? You can't sugarcoat everything." Huma says as she shrugs her shoulders while eating her ice cream
"Right." Maria says in response.
After everyone finishes their ice cream, Mariah takes the kids into the living room so the adults can clean up. By the time the kitchen is back in order, all the kids are sleeping on the sectioned sofa.
"I spy with my little eye five sleeping children." Henry says as he takes a picture Charlotte, Mariah, Jasper, Aidan and Jordan all sleeping.
"Should we wake them up? They look so comfy." Chelsea says softly.
"We need to get them home to their beds. They got school tomorrow and Hillary's birthday party is later that day. This whole weekend has been big for all of us." Marc says calmly
"Right. Thank goodness Mariah has her driver's license so she doesn't have to wake me up to take her to school a lot." Maria says while the adults chuckle.
"Mom?" Jordan says sleepily
"Yes?" Huma says in response.
"I'm ready to go home." Jordan says as his mom helps him up.
"So am I." Mariah says softly to her mom as she gets up off the sofa as well.
"Come on, princess. Let's get you home. I'll drive this time so you don't fall asleep behind the wheel." Maria says sternly but calmly.
"Okay." Mariah says in response as she grabs her purse, trying to wake up.
"Jordan? Did you remember to put your headphones in your bag?" Huma asks her son.
"Yup!" Jordan says in response.
Charlotte then yawns and gets up to hug her grandparents, aunt, and uncle.
"I love you, Grandma and Pop Pop." Charlotte says as she holds her hands out to Bill, wanting him to pick her up.
"And we love you, sweetie. Always." Hillary says as Bill picks her up and the two kiss her forehead.
"So do we." Al says softly as he walks over to rub Charlotte's head.
Hope starts to get a little fussy, but Tipper manages to bounce the baby girl in her arms to calm her down.
"Shhhhh...It's okay. I know you're tired. You wanna see Charlotte?" Tipper asks her as Bill brings Charlotte to her and baby Hope
"Hi, Hopey. I'll see you tomorrow, ok? I love you." Charlotte says softly as she holds her finger out for Hope to grab, causing her to coo.
"She loves you, baby. I think you two are gonna be just fine. It's a big adjustment, but you will be equally loved. Now go get some sleep, and we'll see you at Grandma's birthday party tomorrow, okay?" Tipper says as she gives Charlotte a hug with one arm.
"Okay, Auntie. Uncle Henny? Can you carry me to Daddy's car?" Charlotte asks her Uncle.
"Of course. Love ya, Mom and dad." Henry says as he takes Charlotte from his father and hugs him.
"Love you too, son." Bill says as they break apart and walks out the door with Charlotte.
Marc and Chelsea carry Aidan and Jasper and say goodbye as they're about to head out.
"Bye, mom. See you tomorrow?" Chelsea asks Hillary and Hillary nods.
"Yes." Hillary says softly as she kisses her daughter, son-in-law, and two grandsons.
One by one, Bill and Hillary kiss and hug their loved ones goodbye until it's just them, the Gores and baby Hope left.
"Wow. What a day." Al says while breathing a sigh of relief as he closes the front door.
"How about you and Tip spend the night? It's late." Bill says to Al and Tipper.
"Yes, you two can definitely spend the night. I know you two are tired and I don't want anything to happen. You two know I'm a worrywart." Hillary says to Al and Tipper.
"You always have been ever since we met. But, ok. We'll stay here tonight and head back to our hotel tomorrow." Al says to Hillary.
"I'll let Secret Service know you're staying with us tonight. Just so they know that you're safe." Bill says as he calls one of his agents on his cell phone.
"Hey, Phil. Just to let you know, Sundance and Skylark are staying with us tonight." Bill says as he calls the Gores by their Secret Service code names.
"Gotcha. Thanks for telling us, Mr. President. If you all need anything, just call us. We're right outside." Phil says in response.
"Oh, we will. Goodnight." Bill says as he ends the call.
"I see you mentioned us by our Secret Service code names. I'm surprised your agents know them still after all these years." Tipper says while rocking Hope who's still awake.
"It's a requirement to know them for every first and second couple that's still living. Along with their kids. Hope's code name is Euphoria." Hillary says with a smile while she rubs Hope's cheek with her finger.
"That's perfect for her. I wonder what Jack's code name will be?" Al asks curiously.
"The White House communications agency will pick one once he's born, and it'll start with an S just like yours and your five adult kids do." Bill says with a smile.
"Got it. Al and I will get Hope ready for bed. You two just focus on getting yourselves ready." Tipper says with confidence.
"Alright. Are you sure you two will be fine?" Hillary asks them while looking concerned.
"Yes. We need all the practice we can get before our own son arrives." Al answers in response while winking at Bill and Hillary.
Hope then starts to suck on her fingers, indicating that she's hungry.
"I think someone wants a bottle. I'll make her one if you'll get her into her pajamas." Al says to his wife.
"Deal." Tipper answers in response as she kisses him again.
"If you two keep this up, you'll be pregnant again before Jack is a year old." Hillary says playfully.
"That's not happening. Jack is going to be the grand finale. For real this time!" Tipper says with wide eyes.
Al makes Hope's bottle while Bill takes the dogs outside and bring them back in.
Hillary and Tipper watch Al making the bottle from afar.
"Looks like he knows what the do!" Tipper says proudly and Hillary smiles.
"How much does she eat Tip? I know newborns don't eat much." Al asks Tipper.
"Two and a half ounces!" Hillary says as Tipper giggles.
The four of them laugh at that statement. Bill, Hillary, and Tipper walk upstairs with baby Hope while Al stays downstairs to make her a bottle.
About half an hour later, Hope is in a fresh diaper and some pajamas that they bought for her. Bill and Hillary are already asleep while Tipper is out of the dress she wore and is in a night gown.
*Hope's pajamas and blanket*
"Are you getting sleepy yet? You will be once you have a bottle. You're so cute." Tipper says softly as Hope tries to grab her hair again.
"Oh no you don't, little missy. My hair is in a ponytail so you can't grab it." Tipper says playfully at the two week old.
"Look what I got. A bottle just for our niece. Here, honey." Al says as he hands his wife the bottle
"Thank you, sweetheart." Tipper says in response as Hope takes the bottle. She starts to tear up, but turns her head so Al can't see her cry.
"Why are you crying sweetheart?" Al asks Tipper softly
"I'm just so happy. Along with the fact that my hormones are acting up. I'm sorry." Tipper says softly while looking down at Hope.
"Don't apologize. I could've guessed that. New twin baby grandsons, a new little niece, expecting our own baby boy, and a second chance with you. What more can a man want? I love you." Al says as wipes the tears off her face.
"I love you too." Tipper says in response as she shuts her eyes trying to get the tears to stop. But they come and she starts to cry.
"Come here, Mama." Al says softly and brings his wife in for a hug. Being careful not to squish Hope who's still drinking her bottle.
"I got you. Breathe, baby. Shhhhhh..." Al says as he rubs his wife's back, trying to make sure she doesn't have any contractions since it's too soon for Jack to arrive.
Bill and Hillary watch the scene from the door and Hillary records the whole thing on her iPhone.
"Even after all this time, he hasn't stopped loving her." Bill says while wiping a tear from her face.
"Right. Hope's bassinet is in their room so I guess they'll have her tonight." Hillary says.
"Yup. We'll check on them before we go to sleep once she calms down. Big day tomorrow." Bill asks his wife
"Sure. Let's go before they notice us." Hillary answers back as she and Bill tiptoe away.
10 minutes later
"Hey, you ok now, sweetheart?" Al asks his wife softly
"Yeah. I'll be fine. I just can't believe how beautiful she is." Tipper says as she notices Hope grab one of her free fingers.
"Believe it, Princess." Al says before kissing his wife the forehead.
Tipper finishes feeding Hope and places her in her bassinet.
"Do you think she wants to see her Mama and Daddy before bed?" Al asks Tipper.
"I think she is okay, she is falling asleep now." Tipper says as she fixes Hope's sleep sack.
"Did we hear somebody call our names?" Hillary says in a low tone of voice as she peeks through the door of the guest room they're in.
"As it turns out, we did." Al says softly not wanting to wake Hope up
"You feeling okay, mama?" Bill asks Tipper.
"My emotions have been getting to me a little bit. So much has happened over the past couple months that I kinda haven't had a chance to process it all." Tipper says while rubbing her belly.
"Hey, nothing wrong with that. Question: Do You wanna see a doctor tomorrow?" Hillary asks her.
"I guess so. Just to make sure both of us are alright. Al had to help me breathe so I wouldn't go into labor too soon." Tipper says to Hillary with a concerned look on her face.
"That settles it. I'll make a call first thing in the morning. I just want to be sure that you and my nephew are okay before the party tomorrow evening." Hillary says in response.
Tipper shakes her head yes.
"We'll have Hope with us tonight so you two can have some uninterrupted sleep. More practice for us." Al says confidently.
"Thanks, Because we need it. If the way you two have been with Hope is any indication, Jack is going to be so loved. Just let us or Secret Service know if you need anything, ok?" Bill says to them.
"Got it. Now go to bed, you two. We don't want a tired birthday girl this week." Al says as he points to the door.
"Okay, we're going. And Bill and I secretly recorded a video you two while Tipper was having her crying episode. I'll send that to you in the morning. Goodnight." Hillary says as the four friends hug it out and her and Bill leave the room to head to bed.
"Glad that's over. You ready for bed?" Al asks his wife as he puts both of their iPhones on the charger.
"Yes. I think Jack is starting to get comfy in there." She says in response as she starts to get under the covers.
"Hopefully, he's a good sleeper like Hope is once he's born. Yes, buddy. I'm talking about you." Al says as he feels his son kick him where his hand is.
"That's him saying I can't promise you that, daddy. But I'll try my best. Al, I love you." Tipper says as she kisses her husband one more time before going to sleep
"I love you too. Both of you. Goodnight." Al says before he turns out the light before falling asleep himself.
Bill, Hillary, Hope, Al and Tipper all sleep well that night and Tipper and Jack were given a good bill of health the next morning! :)
