Chapter 6 - Seething [Jenna Lark]

Wednesday, evening

Jenna watched how her biggest rival in the local dance-world, Julia Sanders, was stretching to prepare today's practise. The apple of everybody's eye that had anything to do with dancing, and she just had to join ballet now too.

Couldn't the Sanders family just... leave?

She worked so hard to get to the point were she was the best of the best in and outside of town. She even was competing on national levels, and then Julia came along, and nailed all performances as if it was her second nature to dance.

When Jenna saw her first during ballet practise last Saturday, she had secretly hoped the girl who was an absolute talent in jazz-dance and street dance, would suck at ballet.

She would've enjoyed seeing Julia struggle for once.

She would enjoy seeing any of the Sanders family struggle with anything, but some weren't meant for a hard life.

Not that Jenna could complain—besides the fact her twin-brother was an emptyheaded jerk. She had loving parents, she had brains, she wasn't ugly, and she had plenty of friends. Money wasn't an issue to her. Not that they were rich, but in comparison to Lacy and Daniel, they had enough for a decent living.

"Maybe, if you stare more intense, she'll just drop dead on the spot." Lacy sounded amused, and seconds after her words, she herself came into vision, smiling down at an already warmed-up Jenna.

"I kinda hoped she would. Ever since Frey acted like a jerk on Friday and she had that whole air of entitlement around her on Saturday, I just want them all to disappear. The whole Sanders family, that is."

"Hey now, Peter is a decent guy, a great boss, and I need that job." Lacy protested while Michelle joined their trio in the room, that was slowly filling up with more girls.

Julia kept to herself in the far end of the room, doing her own preparations before class started; all while looking as if she felt to good to be in a room with the rest. She looked as if she didn't want to be there in the first place, and Jenna couldn't help but wonder why her rich-ass parents didn't just pay someone to give her private lessons.

At least that would mean Jenna didn't have to look at her biggest rival, already being better than most girls were after years of practising ballet.

But then her eyes found Michelle, fiddling and shuffling shyly on the side. Her eyes were red, her face was pale and there was left-over evidence she had been crying.

"Shelly, what's wrong?" Jenna frowned and pushed herself up to face her, when she noticed Michelle was also staring at Julia, and her eyes started to water again. "What happened?"

"Frey Sanders, that happened." Lacy grumbled, crossing her arms to send a dirty look in Julia's direction.

"What did he do now? I thought we all agreed you should stay away from him."

"But... I like him..." Michelle whispered, visibly trying not to cry again. "And last Saturday he came over with my favourite wine, and he was so sweet, and kind and I thought he was actually into me..."

"Wait, no." Jenna stared at her best friend in horror. "Don't tell me you fell for that again."

"But... you don't know how charming he can be!" Michelle whisper-screamed at her. "Frey just knows what to say, to make you feel... understood, and loved, I don't know..."

"And then he totally got rude on Monday, told her it was just fun, and I don't know what he said exactly because every time Shelly is trying to tell me, she cries again."

And in that moment, Michelle's first tear slipped from the corner of her eye and rolled down her cheek.

"He's just so..." She whispered in defeat, sighing while allowing Jenna to wipe the tear away. "I really like him..."

Jenna knew Michelle always had a weak spot for Frey Sanders, and if she wouldn't know just how awful his behaviour can be, or how poorly he treated girls, she totally understood her friend's crush. Even Jenna crushed on Frey before she got inside-information from Lacy when she started working with him. Even she fell for his charming smiles, his jokes, the fact he indeed always seemed to know what to say.

And she liked the fact Frey was one of the few people she knew, that could get Samuel to tone down his bragging every so often.

But Frey was no dating-material, and while Jenna had succeeded in getting over her crush, Michelle's crush only seemed to grow.

In particular in the last week, after she first shared the bed with him and even lost her virginity to him. Not that she never had done anything at all, she just never went all the way before.

And apparently, Frey had taken advantage of her, yet again.

Jenna was still angry over Frey after practise, and seeing Julia succeed in thing at her first attempt, while it had costs Jenna weeks to learn some of the stuff, hadn't helped her mood either.

She was fine for the most part, silently fuming, until she—who normally was called to the front by their instructor to show how to do things—made an uncoordinated mistake because she wasn't focused.

Miss Simone had called over Julia of all people, to show Jenna how to do it, and she just wanted to die right there and then.

She hadn't even watch Julia show-off her skills, she just went back to minding her own business, and she had felt slightly better when she looked back and found Julia staring at her with a bit of sadness in her eyes.

While Julia had slowly shuffled back to her corner, Jenna had watched her shoulders slump down while her smirk turned into a frown.

And then she started feeling guilty, because Jenna never really hated people. And she figured it wasn't fair to stare at Julia—all three of them—with hatred in their eyes, because her brother Frey had hurt Michelle.

She wasn't capable of stopping him from doing anything, right? She just inconveniently was born into the most loved and yet hated family in town.

And most of the hate-part was caused by Frey, not the rest of the family.

But Julia had hurried out of the room before Jenna was able to apologize for being rude by ignoring her. And since Michelle again struggled not to cry when she saw Julia was being picked up by Frey, her anger flared up again on her way home.

She was fuming, and she wanted to slap Frey in the face. But who knew, maybe he'd take that as her being into kink and try to hit on her for it. It was best not to come in contact with that boy as much as possible. And now that Daniel had finally seen the light and stopped worrying over the boy, it meant Jenna did not have to talk to Frey at all anymore.

But, since he continuously messed with her friends, she did feel the need to teach him a lesson.

And since Samuel had been brooding on a plan to take revenge on Frey beating him in their drink-off, she felt like he would listen to her seething about the boy's behaviour.

She dumped her dancing outfit in the laundry before she went straight over to his room, finding him behind the computer, as always, gaming.

"Ugh!" She called out, flopping down on his bed in annoyance, and without any grace.

She stared at Sam, waiting for him to pause the game. But a simple 'ugh' wasn't going to get shift his attention from the game to her.

"I hate Frey Sanders."

That, however, was.

Sam paused the game, and turned to look at her with one eyebrow pulled up. "What did he do? Did he bother you? I swear if he's hitting on my sister I will kill him bare-handed."

"Thanks, bro, but I can take care of myself. I have class." But that made her bite her lips. Michelle had class too, but she fell for his tricks nonetheless. "He used Michelle, twice."

Which was enough to piss Samuel off too, since he liked Michelle—a lot.

"I heard that! But it isn't true, right? She is smarter than that, right?"

"No, she's too much in love with him to see through his shady tricks. I hate him. She's been crying all day because he treats her like shit."

"He is shit. He doesn't know how to treat others any different because it's literally his only level of socializing; treating others like shit." Samuel grumbled, while he spun around in his chair and actually ended his game because of their conversation.

"Someone needs to teach him a lesson." Jenna pushed herself up on her elbows to look at Samuel. "Did you hear what he said to Daniel?"

"No?"

Not that Samuel and Daniel were friends. But at least Samuel was the kind of brother that was protective over her, and her friends.

"He was all condescending and rude about gay people, right in front of Daniel."

"Is that why Daniel is barging around like a mess at school?" Samuel frowned, and Jenna mimicked his expression. Did Daniel look like a mess? If something was bothering him, he sure would've let her know.

"Why would he be a mess because of Frey?" Jenna wondered aloud. Daniel was just upset because he hated people who used the word fag, or even took it a step further and call them cock-sucking fags.

"Oh, come on. Daniel likes Frey. Why else would he continuously bring Frey home after he drank too much?"

"Because Peter pays him for it, and Daniel, as you know, could use all the money he can get."

"Peter Sanders pays a kid to drop his son off at home?"

"Well, yeah... he did it himself for a while, but Daniel asked him for more hours, while he was already in over his head. They had a talk, Daniel explained why he needed more money, and now Peter is giving him all kinds of small things to do, paying him for it. It's really the only decent Sanders in town."

"Oh, I didn't know that." Samuel mumbled, looking thoughtful. "But still, Frey needs a lesson. Shall I beat him up? Of course, not in school or in the club, but I can follow him around or whatever?"

"You do realise Frey can put up a decent fight, right?"

"I can too. And if I take Jordi and Daniel with me, we outnumber him."

"Please, Daniel won't even hit Mitchel, while he's being an uptight shit too."

"Daniel really has a thing for dickheads, doesn't he?" Samuel chuckled, but it was forced, and Jenna wondered if Samuel secretly grew fond of Daniel in the past few weeks. She did take him home a lot to hang out, and lately, Samuel hardly gave Daniel a hard time for anything.

"He does, and apparently so does Michelle."

"What is it about guys that act like complete asses, that makes girls fall for them? And why do they give me shit for bragging once or twice?"

"You're just not very... tactful." Jenna chuckled. "Girls don't like bragging."

"Frey is all bragging and big words."

"And actions, since he dared you into that drink-off and totally beat your ass."

"I still think he cheated, and I want to get my revenge. People still laugh at me because I threw up. But I'd like to see them try and down that many shots of Tequila."

Oh, Frey cheated. Jenna knew that much. Daniel had told her Frey had switched his own bottle with water, and they had a good laugh over it. She wouldn't tell that to Samuel, since he did tone down his attitude a lot ever since that happened. So, Jenna resolved in lying, again.

"Frey didn't cheat. Daniel checked the bottles himself."

"How is that even possible? He was clear as day."

"He threw up three times by the time Daniel managed to get him in his bed. He was not clear as day. He was a mess."

"But not in the club."

"You didn't see it, because you were too drunk to notice." Jenna pushed the lie a bit further. Everybody was wondering how Frey had done it, but nobody dared to call him out on it.

You simply don't call out Frey Sanders.

And that's one of the many reasons why Jenna agreed with Samuel that he indeed needed to be taught a lesson.
