Logan Mitchell x Reader - The Love of a Nerd

Logan Micthell was the nerd in his band, Big Time Rush. He was the smart one, and his friends made fun of him for it. During his world tour, Logan spent more time reading Stephen Hawking's "A Stroll Through Black Holes" than he did actually performing. His friends had no faith in him ever having a girlfriend since he was practically married to his studies. The boys made fun of him so much that even Logan believed he would never have a girlfriend. But that was until he saw you.

You went to your best friend, Jo's, apartment at the Palm Woods Hotel. You were planning a surprise party with her for her boyfriend, Kendall's, birthday that was coming up.

You had known Jo since you were little. Now that she was topping charts with her music, she couldn't imagine doing it without you. She offered for you to move in with her and begin your own music career as well. You couldn't lie; you were definitely considering it.

Jo talked your ear off about her boyfriend and his bandmates as you worked on party decorations. You had never met them despite constantly visiting your friend's new apartment while helping her move in. It didn't bother you that you hadn't met them yet. You were socially awkward, and you didn't think you could handle meeting four incredibly hot guys, even if they were friends with your own best friend.

But today, Jo was determined for you to meet them.

As you sorted through the colored streamers and balloons you would use, the doorbell rang.

"Who is it?" Jo yelled as she set the party supplies on the floor.

"It's me, babe," an unfamiliar voice called back, though you assumed it was Kendall because of his answer.

"(Y/N), I need you to distract him," Jo whispered hurriedly, "I need you to do things with him and the others while I decorate the crib."

"What? I can't socialize!" you gaped in hushed tones, your heart dropping into your stomach as you remembered your awkwardness.

"You got this," Jo reassured you with a small smile, "Here, I'll help you."

"Wait!" you whisper-shouted, but it was too late. She dragged you to the front door, only to force both of you out of the apartment.

"Hey, Jo," a boy with blonde hair greeted your best friend before his eyes landed on you, "Who's this?"

"This is my best friend, (Y/N). We've known each other since we were kids. She's considering moving up here with me and my family. Do you think you and the guys could show her around while I get ready for my album release party tonight?" Jo asked confidently as she looked to you.

"Of course, we'd love to," Kendall smiled sweetly.

"Thanks, babe," she smiled before placing a gentle kiss onto his cheek and nodding at you reassuringly. She turned around and headed back into her room, sealing your fate for the rest of the day.

"I'm Kendall, by the way," Kendall introduced with an outstretched hand as the door closed.

"(Y/N)," you smiled shyly as you shook his hand lightly, "I've heard quite a bit about you."

"Is that so?" Kendall mused as he walked away from the door with you trailing behind, "All good things, I hope?"

"Only the best," you sighed as you recounted all of the dates Jo had described in your head.

"What? Is everything alright?" Kendall asked worriedly as he turned back to you, his face scrunched with worry.

"Oh yeah," you smiled nervously, "I just...I'm definitely an introvert. Jo normally does the talking for me."

"Oh, you'll love Logan then," Kendall laughed lightly, "He'll be a good match for you."

    'Logan?' you thought to yourself.

    This could be interesting.
------------------------------------------------

Kendall led you into the band's crib; a large penthouse with light blue walls and bright orange couches. Three other boys were perched on the couches. A boy with long brown hair and gorgeous chocolate brown eyes sat on the couch while he fought with another boy, who wore a helmet, for the tv remote. Another boy with dark, spiky hair sat with his nose buried in a book as he ignored his loud friends.

"Welcome to La Casa de Big Time Rush," Kendall welcomed before noticing his bickering friends, "GUYS!"

Suddenly, all the commotion ceased. All three boys looked up to Kendall, who you assumed was the band's unofficial leader. Their eyes widened in horror as they noticed you standing next to him.

"Who's this?" the boy with long brown hair asked with a perplexed look, "I thought you were getting Jo."

"Yeah, this isn't Jo," the boy wearing a helmet pointed out.

"This is Jo's best friend, (Y/N)," Kendall almost groaned as he tried to ignore his friend's accusations, "Jo asked if we would show her around. She might become our new permanent neighbor."

"Awesome!" the guy wearing a helmet cheered as he jumped off of the couch, "There's so much we could show her!"

You looked to Kendall with a confused look, silently asking for more details as you took in the sight in front of you.

"Oh, sorry, (YN). These are my friends James, Carlos, and of course, Logan,"  Kendall introduced by pointing to each of his friends as he wiggled his eyebrows at you after he mentioned Logan.

However, Logan still hadn't commented on your appearance, his eyes still dancing from page to page in his book.

"Where are we taking her first?" James asked as he walked over to the two of you. You smiled slightly to yourself; you couldn't deny that James was definitely one of the more attractive members of the group.

"Logan? Don't you want to come?" Kendall called over to his quiet friend as he ignored James.

"Wha-" Logan began to ask before his eyes locked onto yours, his mouth gaping open as he seemed to lose his train of thought.

James chuckled at Logan's reaction. "I'll take that as a yes."

"I-I...uhh...I'll come," the shocked male stuttered out, making you smile genuinely at his antics.

Logan wasn't bad to look at either.

The four boys led you downstairs as they joked around with one another. You weren't sure where you were going, but you had a good feeling about it.

"Right through here is the pool," James announced smoothly, an arrogant smirk forming on his face, "This is where I come to tan and charm the ladies."

"Nobody wants to hear about your tanning routine, genius," Logan scoffed as he seemed to adjust to the new company, his comment making you laugh.

"All of the ladies want to know everything about me," James countered as he smoldered at you. You laughed even harder as you noticed the red tint on Logan's cheeks.

"It's so pretty out here," you smiled as you took in the luxuries the hotel provided, "Can we hang out here for a while?"

"Sure," Kendall smiled, "There are some seats over there."

The boy band leader ushered you over to a group of benches by the pool. You smiled at the boys as you relaxed in the warm Los Angeles weather.

"Hey, sweetcheeks," a boy smirked as he swam up to the side of the pool, finding himself right by your feet, "You want to ditch these losers and come swim with me?"

You looked down to see a muscular boy with wet, slicked-back hair smiling at you, his pearly whites sparkling in the sunshine as he winked flirtatiously at you. You were about to respond when the boys cut you off.

"Get out of here, Jett," Kendall growled. You could sense the tension in the air. Even Logan's jaw was tensed at the sight of this boy.

"Why do you care, Knight? I'm asking a girl out who isn't Jo, and you still want to complain? Can I have Jo then, if you care about this girl so much? I mean, she wouldn't want to hear that you're out by the pool, hanging with other girls," the boy, whose name was apparently Jett, snarkily asked Kendall.

"I'm Jo's best friend," you snapped as you rolled your eyes at the boy in the pool, "and I haven't heard good things about you. Now, I'm enjoying a nice afternoon with these boys on Jo's orders. Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass."

Kendall's mouth dropped open as his arch-enemy huffed and swam away. For someone who claimed to be devastatingly shy, you had no problem defending yourself from Jett's advances.

"Woah, that was amazing!" Logan enthused, making you blush lightly. You didn't know what it was about Logan, but ever since you saw him stutter and blush at the sight of you, you felt an odd attraction between you two. Some may call it chemistry, but you weren't sure yet.

"He reminded me too much of my ex," you huffed indignantly, "I hate my ex."

"Well, it's a good thing you got us then," Carlos smiled as he noticed your mood change and Logan's sudden frown, "I bet we're much more fun than some stupid ex."

You giggled at his statement. "You're right, Carlos. You guys are much more fun."

But right then, your phone rang. You looked down and saw Jo's name light up on your phone screen.

"I'm so sorry, I'll be right back. I have to take this," you excused yourself before leaving the group.

As soon as you left, the band turned their heads toward Logan, who fidgeted nervously as he tried to ignore his friends' not-so-subtle stares. But unfortunately for him, he couldn't ignore them for long.

"What are you guys staring at?" Logan yelled defensively as his cheeks turned bright red.

"You like her, don't you?" James smirked at the nervous male.

"What? No!" Logan tried to brush the accusations off but as his bandmates continued to stare, he quickly grew uncomfortable, "All right, all right! I like her! There! Happy?"

"I knew it!" Carlos cheered victoriously.

"Shut up!" Logan yelled at his boisterous friend, "...Now...how do I get her to like me?"

"Oh, poor sweet, stupid Logan," James condescended, "One does not simply get a girl to like them."

"Uh...yes they do," Kendall piped up with a confused expression plastered to his face, "You do it all the time."

"Silence!" James commanded with a wave of his hand, "Young Logan must get the girl himself."

"Why?" Carlos whined, "I wanted to use my matchmaking skills!"

"James is right," Kendall agreed before adding under his breath, "For once."

"And why is that?" Logan asked irritably with a groan.

"Because a girl should like you for you, not for one of our schemes," Kendall explained.

Logan opened his mouth to respond, but you were quickly approaching the band.

Jo explained that she had everything done for the day, but that she wouldn't be able to set anything up until the next day. Kendall's birthday wouldn't be until then anyway, so it made sense to wait.

Now that her preparations were in place, it was your job to order and buy the cake, as well as confirm the RSVPs while she entertained the boys for the rest of the night. You also had to finish your half of the birthday present you and Jo made together, so you felt that it was appropriate to take the rest of the day off.

"I am so sorry, guys, but I have to go," you apologized as you approached them, "My family really needs me. It's an emergency, and I have to leave now."

"Oh, I'm so sorry," Kendall apologized as the others' faces fell.

"Want me to walk you out?" Logan offered, a sympathetic smile tugging at his lips as he stood up.

"That's really nice of you, but you don't have to if it would be a problem," you sighed. Despite your answer, you desperately hoped he would walk with you.

"Oh, it's no trouble at all," Logan smiled at you, "It would be my pleasure to escort a pretty girl like you."

You blushed at his sweet words. "Alright then," you smiled widely at him before turning back to an awestruck band. "Thanks for the tour, guys. I'll see you around."

With that, you turned to leave with Logan not far behind you.

Logan kept up an interesting conversation the entire way to your car. But, as you reached the car, you sighed, knowing that Logan would have to leave soon.

"Are you okay?" Logan asked, his voice dripping with concern as he noticed your change in mood.

"Yeah, just...I had fun today. I don't get to have fun like this often, so thank you so much," you smiled sweetly at him.

"It's no p-problem," he stuttered as his cheeks reddened, making you giggle, "You should hang out with us again."

"I think I'll have to," you smiled as you opened your car door, "See you around, Logan."

"I'll see you," he waved before heading back to the Palm Woods with a large smile plastered to his face as his stomach filled with butterflies.

Bonus Ending:

The members of Big Time Rush looked at each other with wide eyes and open mouthes. Did they hear correctly? Did Logan really just boldly flirt with a girl?

Soon, they saw Logan come into view. They jumped up, running to their awkward friend who now seemed to be beaming excitedly for an unknown reason.

"What was that, Logan?" James yelled as soon as he was in arm's reach of the shorter male.

"Yeah, where did that come from?" Kendall added.

"I don't know!" Logan nearly shrieked, "All of a sudden I was just talking to her and it seemed like I was doing a good job, and it continued!"

"You did great!" Carlos complimented, "But what are you so happy?"

Logan just looked at his friends with a large smile on his face and a happy twinkle in his eyes.

"We made her really happy today, guys, and I think we'll get to see her again."
